Volcano is a new hibachi and sushi restaurant in Duluth. I can't speak for the sushi, but the hibachi is solid. I ordered the filet, shrimp, scallop, and lobster with fried rice, and a salad is included. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and do not have any complaints. read more

I tried this place on a Sunday & it was a pretty decent group.SEATING: They have 2 areas to sit at the grill & booth seats for other dishes, but you can order from the hibachi to be brought to your table. Depending on the dish, you'll have a little robot bring you your meal. Several people were celebrating birthdays & they have a particular song they play to celebrate. FOOD: Appetizer came out with cold spots. Some weren't cooked all the way through. Entrees were pretty good. Everyone enjoyed them. DESSERT: Although fried, the cheesecake was cold in the middle, with some parts frozen.DECOR: Overall, the decor was cool, the music was cool. The environment is quite thrilling! There are many projector screens, robots, LED screens, and it makes the environment feel full of energy. When there are a lot of diners, it truly feels like a Vegas setting with all of the bright lights and colors. Like many hibachi restaurants, the chef tries to bring excitement and joy to the customer's experience, which is a plus. The food itself isn't great. There are better hibachi restaurant options. I also ordered sushi and agedashi tofu, which were both not good. The agedashi tofu was particularly disappointing. I likely will not be returning to this restaurant. read more

This place just opened and it's GINORMOUS!! Jetsons robots greet you at the door, followed by a wide open seating area for both sushi, bar, and hibachi, and color lighting on the walls and floor. And you can't miss the gigantic tv screen at the very front! Probably the biggest indoor tv I've ever seen. Will definitely be back here on a gameday! We went for the hibachi, and our chef was fun/lively. Food was decent. I had the shrimp dinner with fried rice (extra $). It comes with soup and salad. That ginger dressing in the salad is the star...wish I could replicate it at home! This place is beautiful! Upon entering the restaurant we were greeted by robots. We were immediately seated. My waitress immediately came to table and greeted us. I ordered a cherry coke and it was the best cherry coke that I have had in a while. She said she made it herself! Our food came out pretty quickly and was delicious. A much better take on the hibachi experience and a busy atmosphere. Lots of visuals with sea scenes projecting on the ground. Big led screen tv on the back wall and robots delivering your sushi. My little girl just loved this place and they had boba milk teas. It's up there on price but I think it's worth the experience. It gets fairly packed so be prepared to wait if you want the hibachi experience. But you can get the same food at regular sit down table. read more

Overall we were seated quickly since we didn't do hibachi my husband and I enjoy the peach tea but not the other drinks nor the food wasn't to our taste. So my date said he passes this place every day on the way to work and always wanted to give it a try. But oh boy, we were not expecting what we walked into. What was supposed to be a quick bite to eat turned into a new intriguing experience. The outside of the building is very vibrant with lighting that reminded me of restaurants in Vegas. We were then greeted in and outside the door by robots! We only waited about 15 mins to be sat and we had the options to eat hibachi and sushi. We of course shared our hibachi table with several others and our chef Sudi (I believe that was his name) was awesome and very entertaining. One of the robots delivered our sushi rolls to our hibachi table. The hibachi was good but I've had better. The sushi however was more of my fave. I'll probably be back for more sushi as they were absolutely delicious and they had a wide selection of sushi rolls. The venu was live and vibrant with all around great service and food. We just came from this very fancy looking restaurant. Felt like we were in Vegas from the fancy lights and entrance. Food was mediocre at best. We ordered 2 sushi orders - cream cheese dominated one and other one was warm to taste. Nothing worth going back for. Sooooo I'm going to start with the face that the food is delicious, however when accompanied with arrogance, it just takes away from experience. We asked for clarity on if the gratuity that IS ALREADY INCLUDED AT 18% was what had to be paid or was the gratuity amount automatically 18%. The host charged our party of 9 , twice for our meal. My son had his girlfriend and two children , then we e Had ourselves(3), another 2 child and the birthday girl. They said gratuity was auto for 6. She got loud and embarrassing about the fact that she had already charged us. So we paid 250 plus another 50 Gratuity for 4 kids and 5 adults. Her service was no where near deserving of 18%. This place is more than a Hibachi dinner - it's an experience! Beautiful decor from the outside to the inside! Staff warmly greeted us upon entry. It wasn't that busy when we arrived so we were seated right away. They have an extensive menu to order from. Our chef was great! Engaging and entertaining. Portions were ample. The soup had flavor too! My only complaint would be about the chicken breast - it was kind of tough so I wouldn't order it again (hence the 4-star rating). My wife and I have frequented Volcano many times and have never had a poor experience until last night. When we walked in we were greeted by a young woman who seemed to really not want to be there. In any event we told her we were there for the hibachi experience. She walked up to an empty table and set 2 menus at the side end of the table and began to walk away. I stopped and asked if this is where she was seating us. She responded "yes". I told her we did not want to sit on the side end. I don't like having my back toward the open restaurant and would prefer to sit on the other side of the table. She told me that this is where the sitting starts and that the other seats are filled as guests come in. I asked if those seats were reserved. She said "no". So I explained that I saw no reason for us not to be able to sit were we were comfortable. She again told me that this is where the sitting begins and that we would have to sit there. I told her there was no way I was going to be forced to sit where I did not want to sit and be able to enjoy the experience. She had nothing to say so we began to walk out. As we reached the door I thought to ask for the manager. The manager came over and I explained the situation. The manager explained their 'community seating' process. I told him that he had two paying customers in the restaurant now and that it was ridiculous to seat us based on customers who weren't there yet and who may not ever arrive. Nothing from the manager. I then asked if he was willing to let two customers walk out of the restaurant due to seating and he held his ground and let us leave. Needless to say it was evident that taking care of customer concerns was not as important as holding to their seating policy. We left and went to another nearby hibachi and was able to sit where we wanted and ended the night well. Volcano lost a good customer. We would spent $150 -$200 each time we visited. That money is now going to a competitor. Not smart business. read more

The building it self is nice - I came on Mothers Day 2024, I'm a mom to be and my fiancé told me to pick where I wanted to eat so I picked Valcano because we pass it daily and it looked nice. We were seated by a robot & it was nice, our waiter- whose name we didn't get was Attentive & made sure we got our drinks etc. We ordered 2 Apps of Calamari- It was good We also Ordered 2 fried Rice with shrimp - it was OK, definitely could have had more flavor. We got Sushi as well - I got California rolls with cream cheese added. My fiancé doesn't do raw sushi so he orders what he would normally get anywhere we go that offers deep fried sushi- He got the salmon rolls deep fried with eel sauce. As soon as he tasted the sushi he IMMEDIATELY spit it out because the salmon still had a taste of rawness. We told our waiter he can take the dish back and he asked if there was anything that was wrong, so we told him that it was the rawness of the salmon. About 5 minutes later he comes over with either the manager or Owner of Valcano. The manager off rip was a STRAIGHT UP ASSHOLE! he said he wouldnt take the disk back and take it off the bill nor switch it for another sushi dish. He said it was a "special" made order and they made it how we wanted - We didn't want no raw sushi. My fiancé asked if this is how you treat your customers and the Manager/owner said with a smirk on his face "Yes" , also trying to tell us we've never had real salmon rolls before and we Eat sushi/seafood almost everyday. At that point we get mad and tell him get the fuck out our faces and give us the bill with togo boxes- I also told him he ruined my Mother's Day- which is my first since I'm a mom to be in 3 months. I've worked in restaurants and customer satisfaction is always #1 priority, And the customer is ALWAYS right. Clearly this is not the case with this restaurant, I'll never spend my money here and will be telling others I know NOT to spend money nor go to VOLCANO! $115 spent for a terrible experience.. to add it's not like we wanted everything free! Just the salmon rolls either switched OR taken off the tab and that was like $9. I'll stick to going to places I know care about their customers. I'm not blaming our waiter either, He did what he could. I gave 2 stars since our waiter was nice and tried his hardest to fix what happened with the sushi but the other person just didn't care. read more

But, it just goes to show you can't judge a book by his cover once you go inside the floors are lit up with underwater scenes reflecting on the floor from the ceiling. They have a hibachi area as well as many tables to sit at for just sushi or you can sit at the Long bar along the wall. Very open atmosphere very very clean the hugest TV I've ever seen in my entire life was against the back wall. But forget about that the food was absolutely amazing we got the volcano roll the shotgun and the Fuji volcano roll.. to die for. The garlic andamani was absolutely fantastic but don't plan on kissing anybody after! Lol. The best part is your food comes to your table with a female robot that has your order on a tray or there's another robot that actually talks to you and tells you to have a nice day that looks like the picture of a cat. I ordered a steak and salmon combo. My 13 year old and I shared it. We also got Real California Rolls. Both were good. The fried rice was yummy! The chef Oscar was funny! The Japanese sprites (Ramune) were cool for the kids, but they don't come with free refills. I got a strawberry lemonade with mango boba. It was light and the boba's were unique in texture. I liked the take away cup it came in. The menu is definitely overwhelming so take your time. Gratuity was added for our party of 12 so read your bill carefully. They were under staffed with chefs so it extended our wait time a bit. I went for a bday celebration and we brought an ice cream cake. Bad idea. The kitchen wouldn't put it in the freezer and it arrived to the table as almost soup. So don't do that, lol. Overall, great experience. Would definitely go again. read more

Incredible experience and high quality food! Absolutely loved our experience here. I took my mom here for Mother's Day and there was only about a 30 minute wait. They had great technology to communicate that it was our turn to go! What I loved was the incredible service and experience/show that we got with our visit to Volcano steak and sushi! They personalized the entire show! The chef made sure to clean the knives in between cooking each of the meats. We appreciated that. Super quick service. We were always eating!
