The food and the service are always good here! Don't go to the other place around the corner, but if you do, you'll come back to Volcano!

It's just alright. The sushi isn't great, but it's also not terrible. A solid "I'd only come back here if I don't find a better spot." The sushi is extremely loose. Every roll fell apart upon picking up. Part of the problem is that there's very little rice in some parts, so it's just nori (seaweed) holding it together. Needless to say, they collapse. The fish tastes just alright. We were one of three customers sitting down so it wasn't busy. We still were somehow ignored by our server. Our server would walk away mid-sentence before I could finish asking for something. It took the entire meal to get water refills. However, it's a fun looking spot and the karaoke prices don't look crazy expensive. I'll give it another shot, giving them benefit of the doubt. read more

Our waitress was nice. The lettuce wraps were fine, but only came with some crispy noodles, lettuce, and the meat/mushroom mix. No sauce or anything else. My husband asked for a chili sauce and poured some onto one of his wraps took a bite and it tasted horrible. I smelled that sauce and it smelled rotten or mildewy. Thankfully he had the rest of the lettuce wrap stuff to eat. I got the Yaming Yaming roll, which looked pretty, but the tempura shrimp was hard, not fresh at all. I rented a small karaoke room (up to 10 people, $48 an hour) for my birthday. The room has a really cool vibe, and you can bring your own decorations if you want to customize the space further. There's a call button if you need to place an order or need to ask a staff member something. They were nice enough to let me keep an ice cream cake I had in their freezer as well. My friends and I had a really fun time. I enjoyed it so much that I wish I rented it for longer than 2 hours! Definitely recommend :) read more

This my first time here I placed pickup order for lunch hibachi shrimp and chicken meal. They asked if I wanted noodles or rice I chose noodles and asked for salad bc you can pick salad or soup and I got a drink so $25 total. My meal wasn't ready when I arrived to pick up even though I was late. Realized they charged me $3 extra for choosing noodles instead of rice and they gave me miso soup instead of salad I asked for. And there was stuff in the miso soup that isn't normally in miso soup. The portion sizes are extremely small for the price they charge compared to other places that offer hibachi meals. read more

This place looks super cool, but food is not very good on 2 of my rolls the rice wasn't fully cooked and on all of the rolls they completely drowned them in so much sauce. The presentation with everything is super cool but they definitely care more about the place looking trendy then the food being good at all and on top of that the service is SO SLOW even for small things like a refill on a sprite. 2/10 read more

Tried Volcano for the first time since visiting with my mom as a child, and it isn't even the same place anymore. The decor is now super modern, and they now have karaoke rooms. We were able to be seated immediately, and the service was great! I have never gotten my rolls made so fast while still being super fresh. I had the shrimp tempura roll and the Super Duper roll. They are reasonably priced compared to other places I have been - not overly expensive. We were seated, got our food, and finished in under an hour, so I would definitely say they're great when you're on a time crunch. I would absolutely come again! I am glad I decided to give them a try again as an adult. The only reason I am not giving 5 stars is because I still prefer buffet style sushi restaurants such as sushi king! read more

Volcano certainly knows how to do preparation for delivery services perfectly! Not only was the food terrific, it was delivered in containers that kept each item contained to preserve the same quality as would have been experienced in the restaurant. The order also came much earlier than was expected, which was a wonderful surprise on a Friday night. It had been a long time since I had Hibachi. So I looked forward to my Hibachi Shrimp dinner. The shrimp was delicious & brought back memories of the many in person Hibachi Shrimp dinners going back to the 70's. But it had to began with the Miso Soup that is the perfect beginning. There is absolutely no dressing better than that served with Japanese side salads. Yummy! The grilled Zucchini, Onions, & Broccoli coated with the sauce normally used for the shrimp was a great finale. What a terrific meal! My son had the Hibachi Salmon. My friend ordered the Mongolian Beef. Both proclaimed their dinners to be really good. But none could possibly have been as good as mine. :) I'm not able to speak to the location & the ambiance since the food was delivered. But I certainly plan to visit the restaurant in the future. It was a little difficult to order as I had to first look at the menu on the website and then go to the ordering page because there are no descriptions for most of the items there. Was looking for something for an easy takeout experience while staying in Town Center and found Volcano - the google reviews looked very good so I thought I'd try. The good: the sushi did seem pretty good quality - I got the Beauty and the Beast roll. Enjoyed this one. Also I ordered delivery and the restaurant prepared the food very fast and it was delivered quickly. The bad: I also ordered the hibachi chicken and shrimp - it was not my favorite. Perhaps had I eaten at the restaurant it would have different, but my entree was swimming in juice and not very well seasoned. Also very little shrimp sauce came with it so didn't have much to cover the flavor. What I missed: since I did takeout, I wasn't able to experience the atmosphere that I've heard nice things about - the karaoke and ambiance here is supposed to be very fun. This place is BOMB DOT COM! A friend booked us a karaoke booth back in November and there were about 10 of us which the staffs were able to accommodate us. It is a smaller place than others but their karaoke booth was awesome. Very high tech, and I love the 2 screens where you can see the lyrics in front of you (the back wall) while the people sitting down can see the screen at the front. I love the mini stage they have which has a 3rd mic stand. You can even have your friends as a back up singer!! The food they serve seals the deal for me! The sushi tastes so good and their cocktails are amazing! We had so much and enjoyed the food they serve that we don't even wanna leave. The pricing for booking a booth was at a reasonable price which you can split with your friends. This place is perfect if you wanna have fun and unwind after a long week. The sushi was excellent--fresh and full of flavor. However, the karaoke setup was a bit underwhelming, as it was simply an iPad connected to the TV using YouTube. The karaoke room itself had very small tables, so space felt limited. We went to Volcano for our anniversary dinner and I absolutely loved it! The restaurant gives off this hip trendy vibe which was cool. I also like how they have karaoke rooms where groups can get together and have a good time. Our waitress was really nice and friendly. She took care of us well. To celebrate, I ordered the Jolly Roger shooter. It was delicious! Not too strong and sweet. But it definitely did it's job. For my meal, I got two special sushi rolls; Lover and Earthquake (I believe). Beside the fact it was absolutely delicious, the beautiful presentation was the icing on the cake. Which sounds like he just forgot it . They served volcano ribs with peanuts which wasn't said on the menu . No warning or anything . Found this place on Instagram from a food influencer/social content creator. Upon first impression, I was impressed by the music playing and the atmosphere with all the lights, and seeing the karaoke rooms. However, everything quickly went downhill afterwards and I was no longer impressed by the time I left. Our server was very nice, her name was Misa. She was training a new waitress while handling our table. I quickly found out she was also handling a large party of what I estimated to be about 30 people who all broke up their checks. When I was walking around checking out the karaoke rooms. My server stopped in to tell me the prices and packages of the three karaoke rooms. My server was extremely nice and knowledgeable. However, our service was extremely slow. We never received drink refills. We waited almost 20 minutes for our check. I ended up going up to the registers to pay for my check with another waiter. The restaurant was NOT short staffed. They had many waiters working the floor. It seems Misa was overloaded and overworked. The presentation of the food was very artistic and creative. However, everything tasted bland, tasteless, and the raw fish was not fresh. We ordered several different things from appetizers, sushi to ramen. Also, it was expensive and not worth what I paid for. Popped in on a quick lunch break with my partner. The location looks super new and gives off a modern vibe. We were greeted and seated in a booth. The menu has lots of options with descriptions. We ultimately ordered the 3 classic roll deal (chicken teriyaki, spicy california, and shrimp tempura) and got an order of the shrimp dumplings. looks like a fun place when you walk in, it is decorated like a night club and karaoke on the tv screen. They did not appear busy, so the staff was attentive. The menu provides a lot of choices and the specialties are appealing. The shrimp fried rice was lovely but...Unfortunately, Its gonna be a no for me because I do not like sushi drenched in sauce, the pieces were soggy which I did not enjoy. If I decide to go again I will request that they go lite on the sauce or probably have them exclude them altogether. Maybe it will be a better experience. **HOT NEW RESTAURANT ALERT** I recently checked out this new restaurant that just opened a few weeks ago. There are a lot of Sushi restaurant options in the Hampton Roads area, but this one is very unique. When you first walk in you see incredible lighting features and their video features which I've never seen in another restaurant. They have a comfortable seating area, full bar, and beautiful karaoke rooms. Their menu offers a variety of dishes to include ramen, sushi, hibachi, poke bowls, Kobe beef and many more delicious options. I wanted to try everything on their menu honestly. The Beauty and Beast Roll was my favorite sushi roll. The sushi was so fresh and very delicious. The attention to detail is amazing from the plating, drinks to decor. I couldn't help but watch everyone else's plate as they came out, everything was so beautiful. The staff was very attentive and helpful. The owner was walking around ensuring all customers had the best experience. Their video screen changes throughout your dining, it is very subtle, relaxing and enjoyable. There is some music playing in the background of the restaurant which was set at a perfect level in which you could hear it, but it was not to loud or distracting. The entire restaurant was extremely clean, to include their bathrooms, dining area and karaoke area. I am not even into karaoke and I really want to go back to try it there because it looks so nice. This restaurant is conveniently located off Virginia Beach BLVD, next to Pho 79 and close to Town Center. This is a great date night restaurant, family restaurant, and a great restaurant to bring a group of friends. I came in a couple hours with a couple friends before they closed. today, this staff was ran by young girls. they were not welcoming and unprofessional in the way they serviced me and my friends. firstly, the host sat us at a table that only fit 4 people; however, there was 5 of us squeezing touching elbow-to-elbow. we wait patiently for the waiter for 15 minutes to even bring out water. another 15 mins for us to finally put our order in. then another 20 minutes for the food to start coming out. when we asked the young lady w glasses, short black hair with bangs if we could move to another table she simply brushed us off. her tone was aggressive and unwelcoming. while taking our order she rushed us, cutting off some people ordering. Incompetent and racist staff. My boyfriend and I walked in and were seated, we sat there for over 30 minutes-- completely ignored. No one came to take our drink order, greet us, or even acknowledge our presence but every server made eye contact and continuing on as if we didn't exist. Mind you this restaurant is extremely small and you literally cannot miss us. Meanwhile, I watched as two other couples, neither of whom were Black and White like us, walked in, were immediately welcomed, and had their food served--all while we were still sitting there, waiting for even the bare minimum of a hello. Once we finally decided to get up and go , The staff had the audacity to say, "Have a good night" as we walked out--as if they hadn't just refused to serve us. Whether this was discrimination or Just laziness, No paying customer should ever feel unwelcome or disregarded like that. As seen below, ALL of the presentation was absolutely beautiful! All of the sushi was fresh & delicious. Hibachi was some of the best I've had in a while. The dining room was gorgeous! Second time here. I love that they have karaoke but I've never done it. Made it in for happy hour so we indulged in some cocktails. My friend had the strawberry aperol spritz that she said was not as bitter as expected. I had the sangria which was not as light as I thought but sweet nonetheless. We both had the sakura which was a floral martini. Not too sweet. We also ordered 5 rolls which are included in their Grand Volcano Carnival. They were Christmas Tree Roll, Sexy Roll, Lover Roll, Earthquake Roll, and Dream Roll. Sexy was bit sweet for my liking with mango inside and I believe a mango sauce on top. Our server was great. Note the trend in the bad reviews is an unwillingness from management to help. Every place has bad or off days, but ownership is important. We went there for dinner. Right out the door we had two dirty water glasses--no one cared--we discussed leaving at this point but decided to stay. We asked questions about food because there were not descriptions on numerous items. The waitress didn't know. We asked if some items were steamed or fried--and received the wrong answer. The salad my boyfriend ordered was clearly prepared ahead and had a large amount of water in the bottom of the bowl making it nearly impossible to eat without getting a bath. We ordered appetizers but after waiting a good amount of time for his salad, our meal, the appetizers, my clear soup and salad all came out together--which doesn't even make sense. Another reviewer said the hibachi friend rice was just steamed brown rice and I agree. My hibachi came out fajita "build it yourself" style: steamed brown rice (not fried as ordered), the meat and veggies in a bowl full of sauce (another reviewer called hibachi soup)--no plate to put the meal together. I had to send back the "fried" (brown) rice and finally received white rice right before we left. My boyfriend didn't like one of his rolls and they took his whole plate including the roll he was eating and he sat there for 10 minutes with no food--only to have the one bad roll removed--which we would have happily pushed it into a spare plate so he could still eat. Overall, food was mediocre at best--it was expensive at over $100 for two people, despite numerous problems no one came to talk to us or offer solutions. Our waitress was kind but uninformed and the manager clearly used her as the go between with no accountability. There weren't any parties in the karaoke rooms and only three couples there with at least three servers. I can only attribute the good reviews to the large amount of mediocre food in Va Beach compared to Norfolk etc. You could do worse but definitely not worth blowing money here. We came to Volcano because of all of the amazing reviews we read about this restaurant on Yelp. The reviews did not disappoint and either did Volcano. We drove up to the restaurant and were hesitant but I remembered someone mentioning the outside looks nothing like the inside. We walked in and were pleasantly surprised! It's a gorgeous restaurant with digital decor. They have karaoke rooms, a bar and the dining area. It's plays on all of your senses. Me and my one son ordered the Volcano hibachi for two. It consisted of lobster, shrimp, scallops, chicken & beef sautéed with vegetables. The seafood was slightly overcooked. My other son ordered the chicken and steak hibachi with fried rice. He said it was delicious as well. When we got to the restaurant there were a couple of tables but shortly after we arrived, the restaurant filled up.
