We were looking for a rare combination, and we found it at Volstice Auto, with a salesman named Troy! We came all the way from Beaverton, and just by chance stopped in to see if they had the combination that we were looking for in a vehicle. And lo and behold, they did! They had a 2008 Ford Escape XLT manual in a beautiful color blue! Reasonable miles, good under the hood, at a fair price! It was a very smooth test drive, and we were even able to take it all the way to Beaverton, to get checked out by a mechanic before the sale. OMG!! Please don't ever buy from this dealership. We are 2 months into trying to get our 2008 Nissan Frontier with only 78,000 miles fixed after buying the warranty. What a joke!! We had it 6 days and the engine blew. The warranty company denied our claim. The first week we had it we spent $800.00 dollars on towing, rental car, fuel. Which was never refunded. The dealership did shady stuff, that have shady lying salesman, and stuck a deal with the shady warranty company and the shady warranty company did authorized a USED engine with 130,000 miles on it. But denied our claim??? REALLY ! Still do not have the truck back. The used engine has a warranty on it which is only good for 60 days...Hum clock is ticking.. We are taking our truck back and taking it to Nissan and hopefully fix whatever the problem is, or take out a loan to do whatever has to be done since now we have a payment and full coverage insurance. We can not play this game any longer my husband will lose his job, he has to be able to move his tool trailer from job to job. I could go on and on with details. Recently bought a Dodge Nitro from Troy at Volstice Auto, after test driving a few of their cars. Overall a good experience, got a fair price on a nice clean used car. That being said I did get a check engine light and code for a dead fuel injector in cylinder 5 a week after I bought it. . I always expect to do a bit of maintenamce on used cars. Rather than call them and complain or posting a review trashing them I accepted the fact that stuff happens. I'd bought a used car as-is and I had to spend $50 on a part to fix it myself. BEWARE! There are a lot of negative reviews for a reason. They say they sell a lot of cars and get a few bad reviews but it's worse than that. Hire a mobile mechanic to inspect a vehicle if you have interest, I did. I told Bill I would be flying in from out of town and driving the car 1300 miles back home and after reading bad reviews hired an inspector. The inspector was actually baffled that someone would try to sell a car in this bad of condition, and considers if foul-play: Check engine light was manually turned off without fixing problems, engine leaked, overheated, had not been maintained (crud buildup everywhere in engine, even though the top had been cleaned for pictures), pieces were JB Welded together, needs new suspension, brake pads new but rotors completely dead, and tires were bald, along with a laundry list of other things. Inspector did not believe the truck would make it out of the state, let alone the drive home. Do your homework! Just trying to help the next person out. read more

The pics online showed body damage that was repaired when we arrived. I could tell filler was used, but no biggie. Found a door sill panel wasn't right, I pulled it up and there was an inch of water. BTW, this is where wiring runs. The salesman tried telling me that that's how trucks drain....wtf?! I'm not new! Oh! When I test drove it, it was set on AC and I turned the heat on and was overwhelmed with stale cigarette smell. Salesman said he hadn't noticed that. My boyfriend purchased a Navigator from Troy at Volsitce Auto. The experience itself was pretty good. He was nice, and friendly. I was a little off-putted that he was smoking while showing us the vehicle as I HATE cigarette smoke; but it wasn't a huge deal. We did a little dealing with Cuba as well; very straight to the point kind of guy, which I appreciate. They worked with us, got him a great interest rate and I do feel it was a "good deal". I would give all 4 starts except for the fact that there were issues with the truck. It died right across the street at the gas station right after leaving the lot; it was the alternator. They fixed it, no problem. Less than a week later there was a misfire code. There was also a headlight out and a few other small things that we didn't notice right away. We took it back and they fixed every problem with no issues.. It has been a couple months and there has been no other issues. It is an older truck, and of course older trucks come with issues, It was just discouraging to have so many things go wrong right away. read more

Sold me a vehicle that almost killed me, 3rd time I drove it the wheels on the vehicle stopped turning while driving on Hwy. 97 (you can see the skid marks in the photo from the wheels locking up). Thank god it didn't happen when I was driving alone at night over the mountain pass after purchasing it. Over $3000 for transmission work, transfer case completely blown, front differential full of metal and they haven't even checked the back differential yet. This was only the 3rd time I drove it because haven't been able to drive it with the mismatched tires they put on an AWD, and the bad idler arms that I had to replace, was driving to get tires when this happened. I know it's a 20 year old vehicle and used car salesmen are in business to rip people off so I was fine with having to fix a few issues, but selling me a vehicle that literally could have killed me on the drive home is disgusting, i hope you all sleep well at night. I'm not a man out for vengeance, but my experience at Volstice was atrocious and I feel everyone should be warned. I'll try to be concise. The salesman seemed nice enough, and after test driving we had a deal for a Land Rover. This deal was contingent on driving it a couple of days while the underwriter on my loan ended up back in the office. Less than 4 hours and 10 miles after I drove it off the lot a service light came on for the transmission. This was obviously a bit of a deal breaker and as I returned the salesman seemed to kindly want to remedy the situation in any way. He had me show the picture is taken of the issue to the boss and that's when things got very ugly. The owner didn't even glance at the image and told me a deal was a deal. We hadn't had a concrete deal and I was a little surprised. He then told me the car was mine and I should deal with it. I told him the keys were in the counter and I'd be leaving without it, no deal. He then told me he'd cash the check anyway. He then called my bank three times the next morning to attempt to get payment. The salesman bill seemed nice enough, but the boss and way they conducted themselves showed such a lack of salesmanship, pride, and diplomacy that I wouldn't touch this business again if it was the last in Portland. Last Friday, November 12th, 2021 I traded in my 2012 Subaru Forester to Volstice Auto and paid $2000 down on financing a 2006 Chevy Silverado with a clean title and roughly 122k miles. I was told the car was in great shape. I was not informed of any accidents it had been in, but after checking the carfax, I saw that it had been in 2 accidents (Bill, the salesman said he only knew of one, which I was not informed of as I said) . The car ended up having internal water damage (that was not disclosed, there is rust under plastic siding and along the speaker which I believe may be the problem behind the electrical issues I am facing.) Unfortunately, these issues are the least of my worries because 15-20 minutes after leaving the car lot, the check engine light came on. I informed Volstice Auto (both Bill and their manager) of the check engine light and also had O'Reilly's run a scan which brought up that the car had a bad knock sensor. I was told I would receive a call back shortly, but didn't receive a call for the rest of Friday, Saturday, Sunday or Monday until I called them repeatedly. I finally received a call back in which the manager sounded like he may be able to help me with this problem. He then asked if I purchased the warranty, to which I had no idea existed because I was not informed of it (otherwise I 100% would've purchased). I informed him of not being made aware of the warranty, and their manager simply stated that he would not do anything to help me in this situation. This is the first car I have ever financed before and I was extremely weary of purchasing a vehicle from a used car lot for these exact reasons. I am a father, and new business owner that was hoping to provide my family with a reliable and decent vehicle and I am beyond disappointed with the lack of customer service and downright carelessness for myself as a purchaser of a vehicle from Volstice Auto. This sale was very misleading and they are unwilling to help. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Total crooks! Not honest. My Son and I went to view a jeep. When we went to test drive the jeep didnt have turn signals or brake lights. It also had the check engine light on. It was not safe to test drive without lights so we didnt go far. When we returned we negotiated with Troy. He had to run back and forth to a back office several times before we agreed. We agreed to trade our car for it once the repairs were done. They said they would get it repaired then call us. Troy called us on monday to pickup. Said it was ready and fixed. He told me to make sure I told him when we were showing up. I texted him the next day an hour window for when we would be there. We arrived on tuesday afternoon. We talked to someone else who says the repairs were done so I ask to test drive it. We get a block away we see there is NO gas. So again we hurry back. The lights worked slowly and they claimed to have installed a TSP. So the engine light is off now. I tell them the jeep has no gas in it and ask if paperwork is ready. Troy tells me where the gas station is. Which is insanely bad service. Buy a vehicle and they cannot even put 5 bucks of gas in it. Plus after making me give him a window of when we would show up ..he's not prepared a thing. Plus Troy admits to breaking the passenger door lock the night before. Offers no solution other than telling us "it's an easy fix". So we drive back home. The lights go out on the way home and the check engine light comes on. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS! I was in a hurry to buy a van to live in during an ASAP start travel nursing assignment, so I checked one out here that I saw posted online. Troy has started it up before I arrived (which I didn't like). My boyfriend and I took it for a test drive. It seemed to run with no issues. I went ahead and bought it with no warranty because I only needed it to get me through the next few months, then I was likely going to sell it. Well. It's had issue after issue since the day after I took it home. First, it needed new tires and the brake lights weren't working- the fuse kept blowing every time I replaced it. I took it in and the brake fluid was dangerously low with major leakage from the pressure differential switch. I got this fixed, no biggie..... I anticipated an old vehicle needing some maintenance. A few days later, I took it on the highway for the second time. I had probably driven the thing around 80 miles in total since I bought it at this point, and it was about one week later. The van started to smell as I was driving.... an awful, burning smell. Then it start to smoke excessive amount of white smoke from the hood. I immediately pulled over. It would start at this point, but wouldn't move when shifted into drive or reverse. I had it towed to a mechanic. This is obviously a transmission problem. The fluid was bone dry. A couple mechanics later, it was diagnosed with a major leak in the front seal of the transmission, which requires a new transmission, basically. One of the most concerning issues is that the mechanic found the check engine and transmission lights to not be functioning. This has me concerned they were tampered with before they vehicle was sold, in order to sell the vehicle. Either way, the mechanic told me it is hazardous to drive the vehicle because leaking transmission fluid on the exhaust is a fire hazard. I called Volstice to explain the situation to them, and after reading other reviews on here, I knew they wouldn't help me. I was right. I was told I could have had it checked out by a mechanic before I bought it and that it isn't dangerous to drive with leaking fluid transmission, but rather the mechanics were just trying to get me to spend money. This is what the manager of Volstice told me. They may appear nice at this place, but DO NOT trust them. Run for the hills. read more

I'm always wary of little, privately owned lots due to all of the reasons stated in most of the reviews, which are mostly negative. So, having worked in multiple areas of sales/cust. srvc type roles, I understand there are times when customers are asking for the sun, stars and the moon and are not due what they are asking for. However, after reading the responses from the dealer, I will never shop here. Just based on your responses you lost a potential customer. My wife and I purchased a BMW X5 from Volstice that had new tires on it. During the test drive I noticed a vibration in the wheel. Decided to buy the car because it was a fair price even though it had some issues. I took the car to a reputable tire shop to have the tires balanced and they informed me that the car had the wrong tires on it, and that they were not rated to carry the load of the SUV. They told me it was unsafe to operate with these tires on it. I was upset and contacted Volstice hoping for some help covering an $800 set of tires. Volstice claims they had no knowledge of the situation and blamed the local tire shop that they do all their business with, and told me I was on my own. I won't name the tire shop because I don't want to talk bad about a company I've never personally dealt with. I'm not surprised, but I am disappointed. The tires really are nearly brand new, I suggested Volstice return them to the tire shop and give me the refund money since they will be sitting on the floor in my garage tomorrow. However Volstice didn't seem to think the tire shop would do that (even though it's supposedly the tire shop's fault). If I could give 0 stars, I would. I inquired about a 2012 Buick Enclave, and they told me over the phone that it was a "really nice car, very smooth" and that there "weren't any major issues that we're aware of." I drove up from Albany, took the car for a test drive, found nothing major wrong with it in the 10 minutes I had it, and worked out a deal with them. Traded in a car and off we went. On the highway home, it started acting up and the engine light came on. They told me that I'd have to bring it back on Monday (this was Saturday) and they'd clear the code. I checked the code, found the most common cause, and asked if they would buy that part for me so I wouldn't have to cart my family back up to Portland after work during the week. They agreed on that part. I drove it home and parked it, made an appointment with a local shop, and waited two weeks for it to be seen. I took it in yesterday, and today they told me that it would need $4,500 in repairs to make it a safe driving car, including brake pads and rotors, serpentine belt, rack and pinion, transmission service, among other things. I called to see what could be done (knowing full well nothing would be done), and they said it's been too long, and that they wouldn't have fixed any of that stuff anyway. They told me that they didn't check out their cars before selling them (so who are they to be making a judgement as to the quality of the vehicle??) I bought based on their assessment. What a fool I was to put any faith into their words. Please take heed and NEVER give this grift a dollar of your money. Because they blocked me or removed my review from face book I will rewrite my post here... Never buy an older car or any car really from here unless you have it FULLY inspected! I financed a overpriced 2000 Jeep Cherokee LEMON a year ago and it was suppose to have a "replaced engine" yet they couldn't give me any kind of receipt or proof of that and it wasn't stated on the 'as is' paper that's suppose to be in the car window while it's in the lot. The engine light came on a day after I had finalized the purchased the code reading upstream o2 sensor and I had let them know-brought it in and he had a guy look under the vehicle and said it had rubbed on the exhaust and put electrical tape around it and cleared the code. Of course it came back on, the control arm bushing was warped badly, transmission mount was shot and because I had spent all I had as a down payment I couldnt afford to fix it right away. When I took it in to a shop for the braking issue it turns out that the front rotor on the drivers side was eaten away, drivers side caliper wasn't responding, brake fluid was leaking from the rear explaining the frequent loss of brake fluid and pressure, back drum brakes were bad-had to replace the whole brake system, TC case failed after 3 months and had to be rebuilt, turns out the 02 upstream wire had been "ripped?" out quoted by the mechanic whom did the inspection. And of course the unexplained radiator fluid loss and a engine that constantly overheating and losing oil pressure (on a 'replaced' engine BTW) was nothing but a damn cracked head. Such a damn shame. It makes it hard for working people to make costly repairs on a car that they are financing and need to drive to and fro for work to pay for the car. Buyers beware I cannot say enough always get your car fully inspected by a certified mechanic. I will not and would not recommend this place to anyone take your tax money elsewhere. read more

I arrived there after I saw a great deal on a car. Brought cash with me. There was a guy sitting in the sun, on his phone. He did not care at all. No "hello", no "can I help you?". OK...I'll just go look for my car by myself then. This being a review for the dealership itself and not the car, I will not go into details about how the vehicle was. I'll just say that it had a few bad things that weren't mentioned in their online ad. For the price, I still decided it was worth it, so I went to look for someone that can actually help me. I went in front, introduced myself to the guy in the sun on his phone. He took a few seconds, and told me to go inside to ask for somebody else. I then met this other guy. I don't remember his name, but he had a missing tooth in front. We went in the back to the car, started it, and then he told me that I can test drive it by myself if I let them make a copy of my ID. Cool cool cool. I haven't driven a manual in a while and stalled it when I tried to exit the dealership, and then revved it a bit too high. Nothing major, 3500rpm at most. Went on the test drive, discovered a couple more things wrong with the car. Headed back, ready to negotiate and leave with the car. The guy with the missing tooth asked me how the car was, so I started telling him about the problems. He pulled his phone out and started playing FarmVille or something similar. I stopped, and told him that I will just let him play on his phone. He put his phone away, and told me to continue. I then told him that I don't think that was appropriate. He got really defensive and asked why I'm disrespecting him. Yeah, I'm talking with you, you pull your phone out and I'm disrespectful. Then he told me that he likes to give customers space, as he left me test drive alone. Well, thanks, that wasn't necessary. How much space do you like to give? Enough space so they think you're not listening to them when you play games on your phone? He told me that he saw me almost going sideways when I pulled out of the dealership after I had stalled the car, and didn't even tell me anything about it. Gosh, revved it a bit to high. It takes everybody a bit of time to get accustomed to a new clutch. I hadn't stalled the car afterwards. By the way, there was almost no gas in the car when I went on the test drive. Don't go here unless you're ready to spend money. I went to look and test drive several cars that I was looking for. He brought out keys to a different model and didn't know what inventory they had. Then when he found out that I wasn't buying a car right then and there (I still needed to get my money together), he then wrote his name on the back of some insurance company's card and sent me on my way saying comeback when you're ready to buy. I'm sorry that you don't understand what customer service is so no I won't be back with my money. Oh and get some business cards, handwriting on the back of someone else's card is very unprofessional. read more

They act nice just to get you to buy a car then once you do they're very good about not answering calls, avoiding questions, giving you the run around, going back on promises, etc. They don't stand by their word. If you buy a car here insist on getting it checked by a mechanic BEFORE you sign, no matter how much they assure you. Then, offer way lower because they're probably not telling you about a bunch of different problems with the car. They might promise to fix something after you buy it but they either won't or they'll take months to do it. Basically, they're shady so be prepared if you're going to risk buying a car here. read more

STAY AWAY FROM THESE CROOKS. They cancel out engine warning lights, then explain it away by saying "you didn't buy a warranty". They promised to take care of warning lights, but when presented with the bill to correct them, they refused. Look at their other reviews--this is a pattern. read more
