This is my favorite coffee shop in Davis! They have amazing seasonal drinks and the staff is super friendly!

We come here to study pretty often, and while it's not perfect, it definitely has its strong points. The coffee is consistently 10/10--super solid and always hits. The matcha is pretty good too, I'd give it a 7.8/10. And the cold foam? SO BUSSING. Probably one of the best around. That said, there are a few downsides. The tables are small and the chair-booth setup is kind of an awkward height, which makes it a bit uncomfortable if you're planning to sit for a while. Also, the music tends to be too loud for focused studying, and overall it's definitely on the overpriced side. Still, we keep coming back for the drinks and the vibes. Overall: 7.5/10. Wouldn't be my first pick for long study sessions, but it's a solid option for good coffee and occasional work days. read more

5 stars for the service! The building and parking are uh... interesting. Use the door closest to the middle of the building even though their sign is near the door in the end. Basically go towards the noise :) I'm not super particular about my coffee, but it seems like Volt is for those that want the most customization. So just get ready to answer a series of questions so they make it the way you want. I like that their syrups are visible so you can see the brands they use. Their pastry case is very small but what is in it looks yummy. There was a taco truck outside that I didn't have time to check out. read more

I hate to have to come here and write this because for the last year I have have mostly pleasant experiences here. Not so much this Sunday morning. Let me start by saying that this place has my favorite espresso drinks in Davis. The Mexican Mocha with oat milk is particularly delicious. The person at the counter (wearing a face mask) who took my order was very friendly and even asked me about my morning plans. I happily added a tip as I tapped my payment. But then came the baristas... As i waited counter-side for my drink, they gave me strange side glances while speaking with each other about their own Sunday plans and about school (I'm assuming they are Davis students). Feeling uncomfortable, I backed up a little from the counter and started looking at my phone. After a couple of minutes of them being immersed in conversation while casually making my drink, I could see one them pushing a cup it to the edge of the counter. They didn't call me name, so I walked up to ask it it was the oat milk Mexican mocha. The dark-haired barista scoffed and said "yes it is" as if I had just asked her the dumbest question in the world. She then turned to her barista mate to continue talking about their lab experiences and schoolwork. Trying to take the high ground, I made it a point to say "thank you" again, to which the same dark-haired barista didn't respond and just looked away, seeming indignant that I dared speak to her. I was just going to leave, but felt so crappy about how they treated me that I turned back and told the cashier what I had just experienced. He seemed mortified (but not super surprised, tbh) and offered to refund my drink. I declined, but did express that I hope they don't get a cent from the tip that I left. All to say, Volt, train your staff better. Making one of the best espresso drinks in the area does not give them permission to ruin people's mornings. read more

The baristas are polite and very friendly. The espresso beans was smooth and a delight. The cappuccino was perfect. The atmosphere was inviting and clean . A perfect stop to get a caffeine fix while on the road. read more

Love this fab new coffee spot. Great outdoor/indoor space that is bright and airy. So far have only had the coffee drinks but they are solid. They have a Mexican Mocha that is really good with oat milk. They give you a choice of espresso strength too. Havent tried any of their delicious looking pastries because I am holding out for a vegan one, which they said they are hoping to add. Fingers crossed that they offer a vegan cinnamon roll someday as no one else in Davis has one. read more

found this coffee shop that i didn't even know was there because its a little tucked away. very friendly staff who were personable and i got the lavender ice latte with vanilla syrup and my sister got the iced hazelnut latte, both with medium roast and they were so good! they have seating inside and outside and it's not a super busy, crowded coffee shop which was so nice!! paid $12.20 before tip which i find is reasonable, i find the menu reasonably priced overall. will definitely be back!!! read more

Stumbled upon this coffee shop when visiting UC Davis and it's situated in a really quaint area with lots of trees in the surrounding neighborhood. The garage door-style storefront combined with the outdoor seating area with plants made for a great time to catch up with friends. I got an iced tea for a very reasonable price and it was far better than the national chains I'm used to. The staff were also very helpful, and the bathrooms were impressively clean. read more

I got the orgeat (almond) latte! the barista was really friendly and i think that the price is good (5.75 for 16oz) this place seems to double as a brewery later in the day which is actually kind of cool! they let you choose between medium and dark roast which is also very nice :) read more

Came here to get some work done and had a cold brew. I enjoyed myself. I love the spacious outdoor seating area--one side has picnic style tables and the front side has tables/chairs. Plenty of varied seating options inside as well. The staff were also very upbeat and sweet, in good spirits. Glad I stopped by! I went to Volt coffee and I really liked their coffee. I got the Mexican mocha with oatmilk and I thought it was the right amount of coffee to mocha. The ambiance of the place is very clean and I really like their wall art and different paintings they have done to the place. big fan of volt. the coffee & matcha are both amazing, the baristas are the sweetest, and the shop is cute but always a little busy. the last few times i went in the evening they were short staffed so it took even longer than usual, there was only one person working and there was a line. overall love this place :) read more

Went to cloud forest in the morning, was gonna order food, and a chai. Asked a simple question, "what brand of chai do you use?" the owner said he didn't know, and told me this isn't the place for me, and that i should leave. Completely shocked, i looked up another shop online, found this one.. Thought, cool, a new shop i haven't tried yet.. Went to order a hot drink, the girl at the counter said she didn't think that drink would be good hot, so she asked the barista.. The barista recommended it cold. I didn't want a cold drink, but she said out loud, for me and the counter girl to hear, "if you don't like it, we'll make you something else." so i said ok, great.. got my order, took a sip, and was just reminded that i don't like cold matcha. So i waited in line again, told her i should have went with my instinct and ordered it hot. She charged me another $7.50, to order the drink i wanted in the first place.. Where is the customer service?!? This is not your shop! You are not losing any money by remaking my drink, you're actually losing a customer, because i will never be back, and hopefully somebody will be reading this so they can avoid starting out their day like this! read more

Great place to hang out or work! Came on a Saturday afternoon and there was plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Ordered the iced lemon ginger black tea which was not too sweet and very refreshing. Bathrooms were very clean as well and parking was easy as they had a private lot. Will be back soon to enjoy the outside patio! read more

I've been here twice so far, and I love the ambiance and how there's plenty of available seating for studying. It'd very spacious, open, bright and clean! The coffee was pretty good, I've tried the iced hazelnut latte and regular latte. The matcha latte was pretty disappointing though, tasted mostly like milk and not a lot of matcha (I should've known by the color), I would not recommend getting it. The fruit teas are pretty good, my favorite combo has been passionfruit black tea! Also the prices are really good, my almond milk latte was $5.75 read more

I've been here a handful of times now because it's so conveniently located near where I live and I love that it's rarely busy during the times I visit and the customer service is wonderful. Some of their drinks are a hit and some are a miss but for a newer coffee shop and college kids as the baristas, I keep that all in mind. Their prices are somewhat more affordable compared to other coffee shops located downtown. I hope they keep it like this and won't hike up the prices once they gain more popularity. The most recent drink I ordered was an iced Gingerbread Latte with cold foam. The barista asked me what I thought about it and stated she would make a new drink if I didn't like it/if the ginger was too overpowering. I thought that was very kind of her to give me a heads up. It had a hint of ginger flavor at the bottom but was not overwhelming once mixed. It actually might be my favorite drink here so far. Not too sweet, not too bold, not watery. I look forward to trying their other drinks. read more

A little rough around the edges, an improvement on pastry quality is needed. The coffee was decent.

We've been here several mornings for coffee. The menu is a decent size. The coffee is pretty good, at least as good as everywhere else we've tried in Davis. The prices are great. There's always been enough room for us to sit as we wait. The workers are nice, although the size of the space and the line/wait times suggest that they could use another half person behind the counter. The parking situation is a little tricky the first time but there is accurate signage. All things considered, I'd recommend this place to anyone. read more

My work group of ~8 folks + 2 dogs came here for drinks after work, ~5pm. First time for all of us. Great ambiance and outdoor space. Service was quick at this hour. Didn't try the food, but I hear the morning muffins are amazing as well. Fruit off their trees is also tasty. This is a great little hole-in-the-wall type of place! I really enjoyed my time at Volt. It's super convenient for me to walk to and the location is great. They've got great coffee, lattes, and pastries. I have yet to try their beers, but plan to do so in the future. The staff is welcoming and very friendly. It's a nice place to study and grab a coffee.
