Lessees be aware!! There are clauses and phrases in the leasing contract and vehicle protections plans that the dealership and Volvo do not communicate to you. 1. If you decide to get another non-Volvo vehicle, the current Volvo vehicle cannot be traded in at non non-Volvo dealerships. It can only be returned to Volvo. You are stuck then Volvo and their terms. 2. If you buy certain extended Vehicle Protections plans such as Road hazard tire and warranty if you do not file a claim before the lease is turned in, they will not honor the protection plan. You get stuck with repair fees despite having paid for the insurance. One would think for the amount of money paid for leasing the vehicle that Volvo and Volvo cars of Gilbert would collaborate with you on a $300 repair charge that you paid $1483.00 insurance protection plan for. Or at least communicate to you that repairs must be made before turning in the vehicle. Be wary of the practices and failure to communicate and do not get taken like I did. Volvo and Volvo Cars of Gilbert have lost any vehicle loyalty. In Response to owner: What you need to remember is YOU are the face and representative of Volvo NA. You should not try to pass the blame to them. Never once during the leasing experience were any of the exclusions explained, nor were the aspects of the lease such that car had to be returned to Volvo. That should be the dealerships responsibility as a representative of Volvo NA! Terrible service, as well as customer service. Only care about you pre-purchase. Once they get the sale there was nothing but empty promises and excuses. They will tell you they have a loaner vehicle, but won't. Will tell you they will fix something and won't follow thru. There were 3 issues they said they'd fix before I purchased. Bought the car in May, BARELY getting two of the issues fixed almost 5 months later. Part took over a month to get in the first time. They sent the parts back because I had to reschedule and had a vacation coming up, claiming they didn't have "shelf space" mind you this is for two buttons, one to roll up my window and the other to move my seat forward and back. Quite the big foot print those items must have taken up on the shelf! Second time I ordered, when I called in to make my appointment they apologized because they put the parts on another vehicle and had to order it again. After calling every other week for 4 weeks, they then apologized because the part order was cancelled and had to be ordered AGAIN. Now all this time later they say they can't fix the 3rd issue which were issues with the lower control arm bushings. They say they won't fix it because of how many miles have been put on the vehicle since the purchase. Which is irrelevant because this was an issue before I purchased. Even offered back in May to bring it in for that, but they advised me they will just take care of it all at once. Which was a lie. Bought my car here about a year ago and had a great experience then. I got a notification that my car was up for regular maintenance so I booked an appointment with the valet option. Pick up was no problem, but for some reason when it came to paying the invoice, my cards were not going through. I asked the rep for some guidance on this and he said to someone behind him that I was having issues paying which the other man responded rudely with "it is probabaly insufficient funds".... The only option for me was to come pick up my card and use my card physically. I informed an advisor of the situation and she did apologize for the whole situation. Our experience at Volvo of Gilbert with John and Shelby - I arrived at the dealership after haved shopped for a car (another dealership) and having the same salesperson sell the car while we were in the process of buying it and had finished our credit application. John was very helpful in getting me and my wife in our very first Volvo a 2023 XC40 Beauty. What a completed different experience and my wife was working so we had to do this in a two-day process and the reason I share this is because the next day the car was still at the dealership waiting for us (not sold to another customer by the same salesperson). Our financial consultant Shelby was straight to the point and very helpful to my wife since this was her first time leasing a car. After seeing this location had a model we had been seeking we decided to make the commute from Glendale to see the car and see what deals they had. Upon arrival at 6:30 pm December 30th 2024 we were immediately asked to fill out paperwork before we were given the option to test drive. No big deal to us as we came to make a purchase and had already done a test drive on the same make and model at Arrowhead Volvo. We filled out paperwork for credit checks and also explained we had a substantial down payment. After an hour of waiting and filling out paperwork we were told they would finish processing credit checks and paperwork tomorrow to produce an offer. On the way out we asked to see the vehicle. The dealer and her manager let us take a look and then we were on our way. My husband was a bit disappointed that they didn't even offer us to test drive it but I told him it was about 15 minute before they closed. I then realized they never gave us any contact information for a follow up. I had called and got an email address. The next day we reached out to find they needed additional ID from the individual and family member who was helping us finance the purchase. We gave the manager their ID via email and waited. Between 10 am and 2pm there were some emails and phone calls made- I guess at one point the dealer we originally worked with had to go home sick so some emails were forwarded to the manager onsite. It was New Year's Eve - the manager finally got back to us via the phone at 4pm to then explain they will not take the down payment from our third party / family member because they were concerned with fraud, manipulation or any form of illegal activity. When asked if we could work out the payment ourselves or just have a family member co sign to be approved they said no. That they no longer were interested in doing business with us. I was absolutely shocked and confused. When asked if they could please send anything in writing explaining their concern I was told , no I won't do that, by the manager. I can understand the concern but the lack of accountability and explanation or even interest to negotiate is baffling to say the least. We will be taking our business elsewhere. We also are going to be sure this is considered ethical as myself and all parties besides 'Volvo Cars Gilbert' feel this wasn't right. read more

If I can give this company a negative star I would...My experience with Volvo Gilbert has been extremely disappointing, and I feel compelled to share it to save others from a similar ordeal. I initially communicated with Sales Manager Justin Shannon, both over the phone and via email. Upon visiting the Volvo Gilbert office to explore an electric car that seemed suitable for my needs, everything appeared promising. We spent a considerable amount of time at the dealership from 10:30 am to a little after 2 pm. Initially, all seemed well as they ran my credit and provided an initial approval. I literally saw my approval on paper and they began to charge the car that worked for my deal. After about a few hours Justin walks up and says I need money down when the deal was structured with no money down. As I was disappointed about that I asked if they had other incentives and they lacked the urgency to check or do what ever to lower the amount of money down. It's like they don't care about selling you a car. We even saw a lady come in and walk out after they tried to low ball her on her trade. That should have given us a sign to walk away and not deal with them. With dealing with Salesperson Brandan Moriarty he seemed ok at first but the lack of communication from him saying he never got my text messages as well as him always sending me over to Justin does not make sense.. I felt like Justin ran this entire place. It's hard for me to trust people as not everyone should be a sales manager and I let my guard down with this place. With he situation taking a turn when the numbers changed after my credit check, and I had to sign various documents. Feeling uneasy about the sudden changes and hungry, we decided to take some time to consider the deal. The same day, I reached out to Justin and Brandon via email and text to inquire about potential missed discounts, receiving no response. The next day, I sent a follow-up message and received an unpleasant email from someone named Randy (Randall Watson). This encounter was quite discouraging. Despite multiple attempts to contact Justin and Brandan, no one responded, and I felt left in the dark. After nearly a few days of back-and-forth, accusations regarding my trade ownership, and wasted time and gas, I provided proof of ownership for my trade. Shockingly, I received an email, not a phone call, stating that I no longer had car approval with Volvo FS. This lack of communication and professionalism was unacceptable. The fact that Nelson in finance and others would not address my concerns over the phone, passing the responsibility to Justin, further added to my frustration. The absence of a GM's involvement in this situation was puzzling, and the entire experience left me stressed and disheartened. It's disconcerting to have to chase down a sales manager or salesperson just to complete a deal. Volvo Gilbert lacks transparency, honesty, and effective communication. This was my first time considering a Volvo, and I regretfully cannot recommend this dealership to anyone. Gilbert Cars Gilbert is not where you want to purchase a Volvo. This Dealership uses 1960's used car tactics to sell their products. They brag they are the cheapest Volvo dealership in town. I'm not interested in "cheap" and cheesy used cars salesman. Volvo is a luxury brand and I want to feel like I'm purchasing said brand. The Salesperson questioned several times if we can afford the all the options on the vehicle. We found this truly insulting considering we drove our own V90 on the lot. The first XC-90 we liked at had a "dead battery" and we were told by a technician that the car had "been sitting in the heat for a few days and that's why the battery is dead." Either he lied or I don't want to buy a vehicle that battery dies after two days in the heat. Like I said. We had a really bad experience and we purchased across town where we felt appreciated and respected. read more

The initial experience with Service was terrible. To the credit of the sales team, they tried to make the experience better. Kevin picked up my car, took it back for detailing, but unfortunately the car came back with cleaning-solution puddled in the back seat. The beige leather was stained blue as a result. The dealership picked up my car again, finished detailing it, removed the blue stain, and delivered my car back. The detail looks OK now and I have my car. Still waiting on floor mats. Every time any of our Volvo's (all purchases at this dealership) needs to be serviced, we've taken it only to this dealership because of their customer service and we couldn't be happier. Yes, sometimes a repair will blindsight you, like a condenser that gets hit by a rock which will then set you back nearly $2000. I've found living in Arizona to be extraordinarily hard on cars and the various components. No matter the situation, the service department has made it it as painless as possible and I would highly recommend them for your service. read more

Beginning experience was bad, but I chalked it up to the Sales department, not the overall dealership! It took 6 hours of mostly waiting in the lobby, for paperwork to be completed. Ironically, when we arrived for our appointment to pick the car up, the first thing my husband asked was if the car had been checked out. They said it had been. After they finally got their printer to work, we thought we'd soon be on our way. As far as showing us how the car worked (it's an EV), at this point, the sales rep told us to go to YouTube. I'm not exaggerating at all! So, after six long hours, we pulled out into traffic on Gilbert Road at rush hour. At that point, we were nearly hit! The car had no acceleration! We managed to turn @ a light & backtrack to the dealer. Another wait of 45 minutes for service to examine the car. A pre-sale inspection had not been done & the car was in "Service" mode & unable to go faster then 14 mph. This was on Halloween. A week ago, the car started to malfunction. I was out when it happened. No backup camera, all pre-sets inoperable, & the a/c blasting (it was 50 degrees out). I didn't realize it immediately, but the car had also gone into "One Pedal" mode & that means it comes to a complete stop as soon as you take your foot off the gas. The next morning, my husband called Service. No loaners available for a month! We agreed to service anyway, despite it being our only car. No guarantee of turnaround time. So, we show up @ our appointment this morning @ 7 (six days later). The service rep tells us our appointment is on 2/23 (not 2/7)! My husband talked to this person last week! He said then that he'd squeeze us in, despite being short three technicians. We came home & made an appointment with Volvo of Scottsdale. They had availability tomorrow. Oh, and they will drive us home & pick us up when the repair is complete. I'm still shocked by Volvo of Gilbert! This is my third Volvo, but the other two were serviced for 20 years by Volvo of Lisle (Illinois). I look forward to establishing a relationship with Volvo of Scottsdale. read more

I am very saddened that my closest dealer is such a ripoff when it comes to service. I called a couple months ago for a couple of different issues and I was told that there would be diagnostic fee for each issue. I called yesterday to obtain a an estimate to install a new backup camera and was told the labor for this install would be about $1100 not including parts. Interestingly, I called another Volvo dealer and the labor was less than half the price quoted for this install. I also took my vehicle there for the diagnostic issues and there was only one diagnostic cost. Just sucks I have to drive a lot farther for the same thing. read more

I went into this dealership, ready to pay cash for a brand new car. I was greeted by this pompous, arrogant, elitist named Robert. I started talking to this guy and he immediately cut me off and said let's go in my office and just turned around and started walking away down the hall. I followed him into his office. He asked me what my name was. I told him my name, and he said, "my brother-in-law is named your name. I can't stand the guy," I immediately knew that I wanted nothing to do with this entire dealership. He proceeded to ask me several questions in this very arrogant manner. It was so disrespectful, I started to believe that Volvos competition placed this guy in the Volvo dealership to purposefully ruin the business. He asked me about my trade-in. I said I had a 2012 Hyundai to trade-in. He immediately scoffed at my car. He said that's an older car, I don't know what I can do for you. He did it in a very condescending and disrespectful manner. I finally asked if I could take one of the hybrid Volvos out for a test drive. He said yes and then we started walking over to the car. He seemed annoyed that I wanted to take this model out because they had to take it out of the show room and into the parking lot. He asked one of the workers to move the vehicle. While we were waiting for this young kid to move to the vehicle, Robert stood there, scoffing at the guys driving ability and making fun of him. Thankfully, right before the test drive I said something about calling the dealership earlier in the day. Robert asked me who I spoke with. I said I talked to Anthony. He said, "I will let Anthony deal with you because I don't wanna step on any toes." Anthony came over and he was very respectful and professional. We took a test drive out and he was very helpful and answered all my questions. However, the rude, disrespectful treatment I received from Robert soured my mood so badly I wanted nothing to do with the entire place, Volvo needs to fire Robert that disgusting heap of human trash. I swear that guy is placed by Volvos competition in the dealership to purposefully ruin their sales. read more

Leaving this here because as much as I love my XC60, dealing with Volvo cars Gilbert has been insulting, sexist, and disgraceful. (Copy of my feedback to the dealership, which was responded to aggressively.) I called Volvo of Gilbert when I was ready to trade in my F-Pace for an XC-60. When I finally got a hold of a salesperson, that was challenging in and of itself, I started working with Brian Campbell. I explained that I wanted an easy experience. No back and forth - just the best deal based on what I wanted to put down and my monthly payment. His first attempt came back, ok with some links to the card online. That's when I found the lease deals and manufacturer rebate. When I asked for that deal I was told there was no way. I said, "what if I called a different dealership and asked for that deal. What would they say?" He said they'd only do it they wanted to lose $7-8k on the car. So the deal I had was the best they could do. Later that evening, my husband didn't buy it. He submitted an inquiry online asking to get the same car for the deal advertised online. He was contacted by Ross who told my husband this was straight forward and could get it done. 12 hours later I was in the car I wanted for the price I wanted and the deal advertised. My husband and I were both disappointed it took a man to get this deal. We feel strongly we had different experiences based on our gender. When my husband complained to the dealship, he got an apology - I did not. I love my car, so I have been hesitant to leave this review publicly, but I also feel it's important to share publicly to force change. Here are some gems from today(read in a snarky tone): " If we come to an agreement on price are you ACTUALLY going to buy the car?", "If you are on limited time then how are we supposed to sell you a car", "If you wanted to save money then maybe you shouldn't buy a Volvo." Buyers beware of purchasing a car from Gilbert Volvo from out of state . The dealership did have a good selection of cars so I purchased a car and canceled my flight home. I was told by both the finance salesman and the car salesman that I had 60-90 days to register my car in California. Unfortunately by the time the title arrived on day 24 (I purchased the car with cash) and I went to DMV to register on that day 24. I was fined $602 as there was a 20 day time limit. The dealer took no responsibility for this miscommunication. The GM was not even willing to split the penalty fees with me. Just that bit of financial help would have left me with a feeling of having had a good buying experiencing. read more

We brought our 2008 Volvo V70 wagon in for service. The issue was an intermittent non start. Basically the car was acting weird. Overall it took 5 weeks and several visits to diagnose the problem, and it ended up being a series of related problems. Mike and Chris in the service department were incredibly patient and honest with us, and even though the repairs were expensive, they were diligent and communicated with us about our options every step of the way. Regarding the service department: I had to take a few days to compose myself after this experience. About a month ago out AC went out in our 2017 Volvo with only 59000 miles... we brought it in a were told our evaporator was the issue. We had it fixed... on my way home the AC wasn't all that cool, but I thought it was just my mind playing tricks on me. After a few weeks of cooler weather we didn't really notice. After the days turned to 100+ degrees it was clear that the AC was not working. We brought the car back in to have them tell us that somehow a freak accident occurred and a rock now broke my compressor... very convenient. It is clear that they made the wrong diagnosis in the first place and now are trying to have us take on another $2000 bill. Well, Volvo has lost us and our entire family as customers. read more

I went to Volvo Cars Gilbert today for some very minor recall service (replacement spark plugs) and this was my fist time at their new location. The whole facility is bright, clean and feels high-end. When I walked in the service area the service team knew who I was (I did have an appointment) and immediately went and got my car, brought it in the bay and got the process started. There were TVs, drinks, snacks, sofas and work tables at my disposal to help me get some work done while I waited. Where do I even begin! First off I've always had problems with my Volvo. I just replaced the AC! I have to replace the battery at least once a year. This time my car just wouldn't start and come to find out, I needed a new ignition switch. So Volvo dealership is the only one that can fix that so I pay to have a tow truck come get my car. A week goes by, which by the way, who can survive without a car now a days. They don't call me so I called them and ask if they have started on my car. Which they told me they are still waiting to diagnose it. So a couple days later I called again and they say they're still waiting to diagnose it. They finally call me back the next day and say that's going to cost $1800. So I tell them that I don't have that kind of money just laying around so the guy said he would talk to his boss and call me back later. He never did. So I called the guy again a couple days later since he never called me back and he says they made a mistake and charged me extra for something and because I am in fact a student they can take $100 off so now my bill is $1300. He said they hadn't started on the car at all because they are waiting on me! The next day they call me and tell me my car is ready so I go to pick it up and I look at my bill and they charged me $200 for something that says tow truck. When I asked the guy what it was, he said that's the diagnosis charge. So I asked if take it off since I am having it fixed at the dealership. And he said it was his mistake and he would take it off so now my bill is a little over $1000 but he's guaranteed that everything was fixed now. So I drive my car away and as I'm driving the 30 minutes home I realize my check engine light is on and my coin box is missing. I can't find it anywhere and I know I left it in my car, so not only did they steal from me, who knows maybe it's the car washers, but they also tried to rip me off multiple times and my car is not even fixed because the check engine light is still on. Never buy a Volvo! And when we tried to call them to complain, their customer service review guy never answers the phone. I've called multiple times and left a message with my name like the voicemail says and nothing! I can't wait to sell this piece of junk that I have to drive. Not a positive experience, AT ALL. I was calling everyday for over 2 weeks to test drive a vehicle they had advertised on their website, was told several different stories by 3 different sales persons and the manager about why it was in the shop and they would get a hold of me 'as soon as it was available.' When it finally was available, I was texted pictures one afternoon by the only sales rep that actually got back to me (the others promised, but never did, which is why I had to keep on calling DAILY) and I immediately called and scheduled the first available time (the following day at noon). As I was driving to the appointment, I was texted that the vehicle had sold the previous evening. I was told after I arrived there was a "list of potential buyers," but I was never shown it or my placement on it, just that someone else had purchased the vehicle so I was out of luck, "but we'd be happy to let you know if the deal falls through." Not a good way to generate a 'positive customer experience.' The vehicle also had two error codes on my OBDII scanner, so their pre-inspection missed that as well. I think the common trope about salesman is currently active here, they only care about making money, not honoring their own promises. I won't be recommending their dealership EVER. Unfortunately did not have a good experience. We are previous Volvo owners and are looking back at a Volvo SUV. We'd already test driven and researched the product, so we literally were just trying to understand pricing differences 2020 and 2021. We sent the general contact email this question, we were routed to a salesman and asked this question, we recieved in a follow-up call from a female manager and asked her this question.... No one will answer us. The answer is always "why don't you come in and we can discuss and you can test drive".... I don't need a discussion, I don't need a test drive (already did that), i just needed an answer on 2 specific vehicles that are on your lot, but i guess you can't provide that, so we'll go elsewhere. read more
