Side dishes we enjoyed were the fish cake, kimchi was spicy and flavorful, pickled cucumber. There were also the crunchy mayo noodles and broccoli side dishes. We asked for refills twice and got everything we asked for. Asked for water refill also, they don't have pitchers like other Korean restaurants. This place is somewhat small as we were a larger party sitting at a table for 8 and the restaurant was almost full. Bathroom is a single bathroom with no diaper changing table. That had to be the most disappointing Sacramento Korean food experience. We sat in the corner table on a Thursday night. I thought this would be a low key, casual, relaxing meal with my wife. Instead, we felt like extras from the TV show, Bar Rescue. Let me setup the episode in your head. It was just three tables with customers. The first table which was loud and obnoxious had to be friends or family related to the restaurant. Why else would young people want to hang out in a place with no other people with low quality food being served? It felt like no effort was put in the food prep. My wife and I could buy the ingredients ourselves from KP market and cook better quality food. I ordered the spicy cold noodles. What I got was a barely mixed in sauce on the noodles straight out of a packet. What made it worse was the four leaves of salad greens in the noodles. This had to be the worst representation of spicy cold noodles. As a fellow Korean American, this was embarrassing. The yellow marinated daikon that came with the ban chan was so sour it had to have been expired. The 3rd table looked like they were patiently waiting for service. We had to escape before John Tapper came in throwing plates in disgust. Is this a business or a place to hang out for the family and/or friends of the owner? We came to Doma for the first time and found it to be a pleasant experience with friendly service and good food. I had the bibim naengmyun (cold spicy noodles). The noodles were slightly overcooked but the sauce was flavorful and not too spicy. I added a little vinegar to kick it up a notch-- 3.5 We also ordered pork tonkatsu, classic preparation with crispy batter and a well balanced sauce drizzled on top.. it was good enough for my husband and son to eat every bite-- 5 My youngest ordered the ttukbaegi bulgogi, which had great flavor in a light broth that was served boiling hot. I was craving Korean food and had stumbled across this place on Yelp. I am so glad I had stopped by & tried it out! When I had walked in, the place was bustling so I had high hopes it would be good...and it amazing. The staff were super attentive and would check in with tables often. The bulgogi, sides & tofu soup stood out to me the most and ended up being my favorite. From the flavor, texture, temperature, and ingredients in the dishes. I had also order the Korean chili fried chicken and it was good but a little too sweet for my liking as a savory girl. The batter was light and crispy and I'm glad I gave it a go. I definitely recommend to those who like a sweet and slightly savory bite. As for the Tteokbokki, I loved the chewiness of the rice cakes and they were perfectly soft. They definitely did not skimp out on the cheese (which was an extra charge to add on). Definitely perfect for cheese lovers! My family and I were here today for dinner and had a wonderful experience! We didn't have reservations but they were able to seat us immediately. The place was busy and there were a lot of happy people eating. We ordered kimchi pancake for appetizer, my kids ordered the chicken teriyaki and I ordered the Doma Dosirak (fish katsu and beef bulgogi). The banchan (little dishes) were also excellent and service was impeccable. The waiter came by often to refill our small dishes and I was warmly surprised by the delicious flavors. The family and I have found a new Korean place that's close to where we live! We've always passed by, but this is the first time we're actually dining in. And Doma did not disappoint... The place is nice and clean. Very nicely decorated. The thing that caught my eye the most were the window blinds. It lent light into the place and made the feeling more comfortable. The staff were helpful and attentive. They were all just shuffling back and forth, delivering drinks or the banchan, or the fare you ordered. The staff were always seeing the refills or questions you may have about the menu. And the taste of our orders were uniquely great! I ordered the Teriyaki Chicken and it was not overly sweet as others were. It was just right... The price is just right for the lunch menu. I suppose the higher priced items are the food you share around. But the food my family and I ordered were already quite a lot. Good food and a hefty serving... As for food, a large variety of ban chan sides come with the meal and all were well made. I was craving Bibimbap and kimchee so badly while we were passing through Sacramento after eating burgers and pizza all weekend. It must have been fate because I found THE MOST incredible, authentic, Korean spot ever in an unassuming strip mall after hopping on Yelp to find Doma. All the stews and dishes were really good and the side dishes (marinated crab and fish) and kimchi and broccoli was so fresh and good). The place is actually next to a spa and so you may see folks in relaxed clothes with slippers in an offshoot area, but the main dining area was so clean. Bathrooms were clean and just a good experience. The pricing is on the higher side, but for good quality and service can't complain. The good: Spicy squid rice bowl 9/10: very flavorful. For anyone who complained there was no crispy rice at the bottom, BE PATIENT! Mix your bowl, then spread the rice out along the bottom and up the sides, then let it sit for 10-15 min. If you eat it right away you'd probably burn your tongue anyways. The stone bowl ensures the food stays hot and your rice will crisp up. Eat the banchan while you wait. Banchan was a good selection and servers were good at refilling it when asked. Servers were also quick and kind. The bad: There is no purple rice option. Everything is white rice. The galbi was not worth it. Got the galbi and mixed tofu soup combo. Tofu soup was decent and grew on me. Great with the sides. The galbi was very disappointing as it had no char, which meant it lacked flavor. Galbi pieces were also pretty fatty and were not as plentiful as other places I've been to. Overall: would come again for the spicy squid rice and will maybe try their noodles next time. Came here on a Friday night around 7PM and the store was packed. The store is pretty small and we were told there was a 40 minute wait which we agreed to. What confused us is that we were able to sit down about after 5 minutes because there were empty tables in the back but the workers did not check before telling us about the 40 minute wait time. It took about 20 minutes for the food to come out after we ordered. My partner got the tofu soup and galbi combo and I got a tofu soup. I would recommend getting the combo instead! The combo comes with a smaller tofu soup, but you get to try two items on the menu instead of one. The tofu soup was good, but nothing out of the ordinary for us. For several years, my wife and I visited this restaurant weekly when it was Hankook. I wrote a 5-star review. The dol sot bibimbap was absolutely perfect. The kimchi was too. We hadn't been there in a while when we went there this past week. Not much of the exterior except the sign or the interior has changed. The ambiance has changed. There are now two TVs on the walls and music was playing. The TVs didn't bother us but the music did slightly. It just seemed out-of-place. It wasn't a major issue but it detracted from the experience just a bit. The service was good. The food looked good but it wasn't the same. The kimchi wasn't as good as I remember it. Neither was the dol sot bibimbap. It had too much onion. The food wasn't bad at all. It was good but it just wasn't what we drove 50 miles each way to get. Dishes listed below came out in this order: The banchan and steamed rice came out first. -Banchan options were great and tasted fresh. Down-side was all servings were extremely light for our family of 4. $23.99 Chicken Katsu + Tofu Soup (Seafood) 4/5 Chicken Katsu - crispy/sauce was good 5/5 Seafood Tofu Soup - flavorful seafood broth $18.99 Tteokbokki (spicy rice cake + fish cake) 3/5 while tteokbokki was the right texture, there wasn't enough fish cake and sauce was ok. Came with a hard boiled egg. You can add cheese and ramen for $4. $22.99 Galbi Tang 3/5 This soup was good when it initially came out hot but it got cold pretty quick. Came with 3 short ribs. Half the dish was the marinade and peppers. We did ask for more Banchan and as it was refilled, it was very light portions. 3/5 The server was nice. The person that took our order did check on us once mid meal. We had to not only ask for water refills and napkins not once but twice. Prices were as expected for most dishes. I went there on a Monday night for a bumble bff app friend first time meet up. The restaurant is small and clean. The bathroom was a bit dirty on the floor though. The service was good. They brought out the side dishes and rice fairly quickly after we ordered. The girl I was with ordered the spicy pork and tofu soup combo and spicy cold noodles Bibimguksu and I ordered galbi tang. There were huge portions for the Bibimguksu and galbi tang. I barely put a dent in my soup and had a lot leftover! They gave big pieces of meat on the bone. I went here for a quick lunch and they had $9.99 lunch specials. I tried their Jajangmyeon and it was good but nothing special about it. The noodles were nice and smooth and they give enough sauce to cover the noodles well. The sauce is only veggies but given the price it was definitely worth it. I was sad the jajangmyeon only comes with 3 side dishes: radish kimchi, regular kimchi and yellow pickled radish. They do give you some sort of refreshing sweet tea at the end and their barley tea was delicious and served in a cute cup I'll have to go again next time and try something different on their menu. They also have a catering business on the side and can make large orders of almost anything on their menu. I had been wanting to try out this restaurant in-person and specifically during the lunch hours. The menu includes lunch specials between 11am - 3 pm Monday - Friday. I thought it would be a great way to taste different items off the menu. I ordered the bulgogi (comes with white rice) and my companion chose the udon. There seemed to be a good selection of items and of course, you could order from the full menu as well. I love to see what kind of banchan will be offered. There were 8 side dishes brought to our table. Shortly our meals were served. The udon had delicious vegetable toppings included and the broth was tasty. The bulgogi had great flavor in the marinade and was a decent portion. The banchan helped round out my meal as I ate a bite here and there to change up my meal (spicy, salty, and sweet). Next time for sure I'm ordering the Korean banquet noodles. I saw a large table (of at least 8) and more than half placed that order. I was so curious what it was I asked the waitress and she confirmed my guess. Guess that means I will need to visit again soon. The seating area of the restaurant can be limiting when it's mealtimes. The tables filled up and I saw patrons needing to wait to be seated. I'd say the staff did a good job keeping up with all tables. I was able to have my water refilled and the waitress did ask how everything was. When we asked for our bill the waitress said she would also bring out some tea. I didn't realize a complimentary tea was offered at the end of the meal. It was an iced tea that had a fruity flavor and was slightly sweet. It was delicious. We got bulgogi (10/10, can never go wrong with this), doobu kimchi (steamed tofu with stir fried kimchi & pork belly) (9/10, i wished they stir fried the pork a bit more to have that crispier flavor but that's just personal preference), cold noodles (8/10, broth was clean and noodles were good), and denjang jjiigye (soybean paste soup with veggies) (10/10, first time having this so i can't compare but would get again!) Was there last night, on a Saturday. Noticed there were already two parties waiting outside so was not surprised when we were quoted a 20 minute wait. After getting seated, it took a bit for the server to come take our order. While waiting, we noticed there were 2-3 unbussed tables around us while there were still people waiting in their cars outside to be seated. Also took awhile for the sides and food to come out. Tofu soup was bland, spicy pork was flavorful but came out unsizzling on the hot plate.
