I would give this store a negative 100 if it was offered. It's a terrible, horrible, dirty store. I have been a Vons customer for over 25 years and have never been in one that compared to the awfulness of this store. Now they say they care about employees and customers safety with the pandemic. Well, no masks. No liquid spray to wipe down the carts, no employee around cards and the little wipes in that container is always empty. Cashier today, Johanna was about as rude as she could get. This Store is VERY bad. You do not want to shop here because they now have posted a sign that all sales are final and you cannot do exchanges or returned of can goods! The sign is a small little 8 by 12 piece of paper on the door. The store has no inventory except for their very high-end items and the staff could care less. read more

I went to the market yesterday for the first time and encountered a woman entering Vons in DHS with a mask in her hand and she refused to put it on. She said, "I am not afraid". She and others like her get to be not afraid because most of us are wearing our masks. If we all took them off, she and others like her would be mightily afraid, even to go outdoors. It is not just disrespectful. Neither is it about freedom. None of these dissenters are doing anything even remotely courageous in the pursuit of their freedom because all of us who are the majority of people who are wearing our masks protect these dissenters. And they get to be unafraid only because we wear our masks. If we all removed our masks at once these dissenters would cower in place at home. They would be the last to venture outdoors just as they are now the first to toss away their masks. read more

I just moved to DHS, everything is new don't really know where to shop or where stores are. Today was the Birthday of one of my closest friends in Palm Springs, I remembered the quality and service that Safeway had in Northern California but also knew that Vons was at one point part of Safeway so I decided to vist tge bakery in DHS. When I got there it wasn't busy, there was a young women with her son waiting in front of the cake display, I asked her have you been helped? She said No one has acknowledge me standing here so she left I stood there about 3 to 4 mintues the baker ladies chitchat ing untill I had to flag them down and ask if someone could help me with a cake, she looked at me and said (what doyou want?) with a tone of voice like she didn't care to help me. I asked her iif I could get a single birthday cake but with a larger cake container. She said No I have to out it in the size cake container they belong. I understand that she could get in trouble so I didn't lush it i said ok I will buy the larger cake and the smaller one even I didn't want the larger cake, then she said which one you want onlybthe smaller but if I can xtra for a larger cake container I would she grabed the small individual cake then came back and said I nees to go to the back and get the cake container. Waiting and waiting for that cake container a nice lady with a smike said have you been helped I told her yes thank you. Still waiting when the lady who is helping me comes back with the small cake container and start putting the individual cake in it at that point I'm mad! So I just walked away loosing more the. 20 min of my time and didn't want to be rude to her in telling her you lackmof customer service if you didn't have tge smaller container why didn't you just gave me the larger one I had requested. i went to the self checkout about 5 min later finishing paying the nice lady was coming with the smaller cake in the larger cake container at the point I'm anoyed that the lady that helped me had to tell the nice lady what I wanted and why I had to walk away. BAKERS you create magic in your craft but you lack in customer care and your magic disappears when we want a Birthday experience with our loved ones. In less then 10 min tge lady that was waiting forst in line and myself walked away from your bakery with out a cake. the reason that I gace 1 star was for the lady that came looking for me with what I wanted. read more

Customer service is bad. They don't care about customers. Discrimination at its finest. They cater to older white people who are dressed extremely well. Was a regular stopped shopping at this place because the manager is rude and the employees are rude as well. It took a few times to finally understand that they don't want me coming as a regular. Yep, it happened again. Overcharged. Last time, checker put in wrong code for avocados. This time, it's $5 Friday, and yet you have to buy 2 (Coke) products. If I have my math correct, 2 x $5 = $10. In other words, since I only bought one pack, I got charged FULL price. Either the checker was too lazy to tell me or Vons doesn't bother to train their checkers appropriately. final straw with this location... i am DEEPLY disappointed in the DHS vons and their lack of following mask rules. i have noticed lately people wearing their masks down below their noses (idiots!) but today, 2 separate people wandering around shopping with no masks. my health is much more important than some lazy employee not bothering to enforce the mask rule. i quit using staters in DHS 2 years ago for the same reason. i can not/will not endanger my health shopping in a store which allows customers to put others at risk and so, you have lost my business until the time the epidemic is over OR you can prove you are willing to follow guidelines as set forth by CDC and US govt. read more

We moved to this community this spring from San Francisco and were concerned that we wouldn't be able to find all of the yummy food we were used to back in SF. Well we were seriously dissappointed with the Valley's lack of decent reasonably priced restaurants. What makes up for that deficiency is our local Vons. They have a healthy selection of fresh produce and a decent organic section. They have the requisite Sriracha sauce and organic Italian sodas we'd become accustomed to, as well as the live Boston lettuce we love. What earns this Vons a 5 star rating in our book is the excellent customer service we've experienced here. Multiple employees have gone out of their way to be friendly and helpful, whether it be to find a coupon for one of our purchases, or running to the back to get us some fresh leeks. We always feel taken care of here and that will keep us coming back. read more

Stopped in on Friday evening to pick up a few things for family dinner. Got in the express lane. The cashier started ringing up a person then disappeared. There were at least 5 people in line and I was 4th in line. WTF. I left my items and walked out. I called the store and complained. The girl said the cashier went to find him a coupon. Again WTF. I've never had an employee look for a coupon for me. I also wrote corporate. I will never shop here again. Stater Bros has my local business. I'm sorry, shouldn't customers bring their own coupons? Why not open a self checkout area for those of us who want to get in and get out. read more

Friends came in to buy alcohol several times. I ended up going in once for shampoo, which was $2.99. Pretty decently priced and register person was laughing with us when I told her I didn't want a bag then said I lied I do want a bag... Just in case it spilled in the car. Vons and Stater Bros are the two large grocery stores in DHS. Vons is nicer and a lot cleaner inside. A man in his 40's was killed in the parking lot here a couple years ago. The guy was shopping inside Vons and was killed by a local hoodlum outside the store. They eventually caught the guy, but now every-time I think of this Vons I remember that man's death. Anyways, I've gotten off track. Vons is cleaner and service is better than Stater's, but it's also more expensive. read more

When the alcohol delivery arrived at the beginning of my Palm Springs trip, I was left alone with the delivery man for about 30 seconds after leading him to the kitchen and bar. At that point, he told me how much the delivery was and requested payment. He swiped my credit card, i signed the receipt, and he left. When I told my friends how much each of them owed me for the purchase, my friend Alexis told me she had already paid for the delivery upon ordering. I assumed my payment was an honest mistake that could be easily rectified, and proceeded to call the customer service number provided on the receipt 4 times, and was disconnected 4 times. My friends and I went grocery shopping for the house, which I thought would be a good opportunity to speak to someone in person, but I was informed that alcohol delivery was handled at a different location, and they couldn't help me. However they gave me a number to try, and my call finally went through. The man I spoke to on the phone all but scoffed at my story, spoke to me in a very accusatory and belittling tone, said there was nothing the company could do, and sarcastically suggested that I go to the police. He honestly sounded angry with me, wasn't at all concerned that the delivery man had requested payment for an order that had already been settled, and clearly didn't care about my experience as a concerned customer. I have N E V E R been spoken to like that by a customer service operator. It was a very upsetting experience to be talked down to while I was growing increasingly concerned about the safety of my credit card account, since there was apparently no record of the purchase, yet my card was swiped. He just kept interrupting me to say that what I was saying didn't make sense. On the verge of tears, I put Alexis on the phone. She also emailed the company and had a follow up phone conversation with a less angry employee who was apparently very apologetic and explained that delivery drivers are under no circumstances to accept payment, because, obviously, they should know that the order is already paid for. I ended up cancelling my credit card on the first day of my trip. It wasn't at all how I wanted to start my vacation. I would very much appreciate an update on how this situation was handled internally. Thank you. read more

I love Vons. Their gas is convenient and affordable, and the member discounts on snacks is unbeatable (for example, 3 for $5 on Monster Energy drinks). The attendant was either in a really good mood or genuinely likes his job, which was surprising and awesome. read more

Here's another cute trick they have come up with. You go inside to use your debit card so they won't GANK you by holding on $100 for three to five days. Sometimes depending on who is there, you tell them debit, swipe your card, no pin is asked for and you're charged for a credit purchase. I pointed it out to the guy and he lied to me saying there's no provision for debit. I used debit two days ago I told him. He gave me the fish eye. No shout outs for this store. Management is HORRIBLE. Majority of people employed here think they are better than everybody else. Be prepared to be followed while shopping and if something gets marked incorrectly, they will NOT let you have it for the mismarked price because they will treat you like YOU made the error not THEM. I really love this Vons because of the customer service. The staff is always so friendly and happy to help with coupons and have up beat and friendly attitudes. The only thing I would say negative is I wish they had a bigger selection in products. But rather than that their coupons are amazing you really save so much (especially if you download their app! It's very handy!) also their gas is an awesome deal too. I just moved from Thousand Palms where we really only had Walmart so this has really been so awesome in savings ! read more

Outstanding customer service: they open new lines consistently when lines are too long. Some of the employees actually have a sense of humor, which is rare these days in stores. The store has a good selection of items, and I like that Vons splurges on metal carts, instead of plastic carts, and keeps them in working order at all times. read more

As a Resident of DHS for 24 years, I love our Vons. Friendly and helpful staff. During these Covid Days they've been exceptional at handling the crowds and enforcing masks, 6 feet apart etc. Their Bakery, Deli, and Seafood is superb. Restrooms are always clean, or as clean as it can be considering some of the towns customers. Beautiful flower selection, and reasonably priced. And they now have a self-checkout--amazing. We have lived here 8 years in DHS, we have finally have had enough. Von's doesn't require their customers to wear masks, and it sure as bleep doesn't enforce that requirement and it has gotten dirty. We will now shop in Cathedral City where the staff cares enough about the store and it's patrons to keep it clean and to enforce the mask required in public places law. read more

Moved to DHS from Palm Springs and for a quick convenience sake, Vons in DHS is good, though I find a bit more pricey compared to my usual "go-to" bigger grocery store, Ralph's on Sunrise,which is my favorite - (more variety and a much better produce section). One minor problem that needs improvement at Vons in DHS? Almost every time I want to buy some produce at Vons in DHS,I always have to ask the Produce Person for a price check. They have to walk away to find the price code because many items have missing price tags. Other than that, Vons in DHS is good 'cause they have a larger bakery section, were Stater Bros in DHS doesn't (not even a loaf of rye bread to be found for a corned beef sandwich at S.B, go figure?). Vons in DHS is great for convenience distance wise. The store works in a pinch when you run out of something you need right away. They can only stock what they can and do a great job for a store that has less Sq Footage Retail space. It is what it is. Eventually they will probably expand due to increasing population growth in DHS with more home construction, etc. read more

This is by far THE WORST grocery store in the United States. The customer service SUCKS. The management looks like they have been mainlining heroine the entire day. The Vons advertising is CRAP. I write this review after NUMEROUS visits to what is the WORSE grocery store in the world. Recently, I was there at 9:00 PM and there were ONLY two checkers with 8 people in one line and EIGHTEEN people in line in the other. I finally said to the cashier, who was a manager, who looked drugged up, "Why do you advertise if more then three in line a new cashier will open up." She looked at me with her puffy eyes and said, "Only when available." Well, say that on the damn advertising. I will NEVER GO to this store again. After reading the reviews of this store I was hesitant to step inside and instead drive over to Palm Springs to get party supplies/food/beverages. Very possibly the worst run grocery store in the world. I constantly witness manager standing around talking while there are never enough cashiers on to handle traffic. Literally watched a manager stand and talk for 22 minutes while 2 lines had 9 separate customers in them. The bad leadership is very clear in the store. I only go here if I absolutely must. Because stater bros is filthy looking, with less than savory customer base. Store is usually at least clean but under managed and constant mistakes due cashiers having no support from leadership. Von's corporate should secret shop this location a few times at all hours of operation and get rid of the lame duck management team. read more

This is the worst Von's ever! My husband worked for Von's for seven years and can't believe they allow such poor quality for this community. The service is so slow, we have left our cart more than once to preserve our sanity. Gas station pumps would not give me the credits due, so I told the attendant who was new, first day, no training, do she called the tech, also 1st day, no training, so after 1 hour NO GAS. Called manager who did not know what to do. What a MESS. Vons culd never get it right and sold out to Albertsons who can't seem to improve service either. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THE GAS STATION OR THE STORE. Prices r WAY too high altho the occasional deals r nice. Staters has Vons beaten on almost everything. I get kambucha here when it's on sale, Arizona tea, and sometimes a cut of meat, but 90% of my shopping is elsewhere. read more
