Long lines, very limited selection, except in the beer department...but hold on, you might as well start drinking that twelver of IPAs while you're waiting in line. With no express lanes or self check out, you'll be lucky to get out of there in 10 minutes flat with 1 item purchase. Don't fret! There is a Albertsons minutes away on bolsa chica and heil. On X-MAS based on their website and subsequent phone call this afternoon I came over to the store at 6:45 I found the door locked the new manager they have in the evening looks me in the eye through the window and says it 7:00. If the guy can look you in the eye and lie to your face where does it go from there? What else is he capable of? Diametric opposite , is their other night manager, Nick. Great friendly, welcoming attitude, not a prevaricator; businesslike personality. Came here on a Thursday night and only one check stand was open and it was the Express lane. Well I had more then that so I walk up and I tell checker sorry I have more then 15 but you're the only lane open. Well she was so rude didn't even respond like it's my freaking fault her manager has only one lane open. I will not be coming back here. She didn't say anything to me the whole time just gave me the receipt and that was it. I know the lady was pregnant and probably tired but you don't treat customers like that! I have been a resident and going to the store since 1994, in the past the store was run decently and the staff were very helpful! The deli section, The employees are rude and unhelpful, i've talk to the store manager regarding these issues and it seems the lady I talked to it fell on deaf ears! as a result I take my business elsewhere and shop at Stater Brothers now! i love this store for their 1] bakery: great selections, freshness, quality, and decent prices. love their bagels, tiramisu, cheesecakes, etc etc. good place to come for last minute birthday cakes. [better than ralphs/albertsons] 2] deli: everything i've tried is good, so you can't really go wrong 3] round table pizza: it closes pretty early [better than pizza hut/dominos] that's pretty much it, their grocery prices are on the higher end, but pretty low quality, their fruits, vegges, fish, meats, are not that fresh. My local grocery store that I've been going to since 2006. Consistent, friendly, clean and where everybody knows your name. It's just the right size and open till late. Parking is easy, deli is quick, meat choices are always replenished when they are out of product. And yes there is rain checks if their suppliers are out of stock of products. It's a small, quaint store with hard working employees. There's not many stores I frequent so this says a lot of ice been going here for 12 years. Can the isles be any smaller in this place? Geez, you can fit 1 cart down the isle and then its the constant "excuse me" "sorry". Only reason I go here is because I get gift cards from my family and wow I have to tell them to stop with those gift cards because it is becoming annoying. People who park their carts in the middle of the small isle and walk to the end to get a bag of chips or the 1 or 2 lanes open at 6pm in the evening, when EVERYONE is shopping. I just come here for the deli signature select sandwiches. They are great, the customer service at the deli isn't too shabby either, but the staff at the cash registers are just so-so... its a hit and miss there. VONS i don't shop at, I usually go to Ralphs cause they have better deals, but the deli is cool at VONS. read more

This Vons has a Starbucks inside which I find pretty cool. I won't comment on the Starbucks but the store itself is very clean and well organized. Very helpful staff who helped us pick out some flowers we needed for a customer who's cat passed. read more

I tried to place an order with Albertsons and they sent me to Von's , a sister store. I order about $73 worth of groceries. Due to the coronavirus it was going to take about 5 days to be delivered Today a lady delivered it and I received $28 a bill for $28.11 which included $4.95 for .com service fee and another $3.95 for delivery. This is almost 1/3 of what they charged me ($28). I did not receive an email telling me they could not fill the order or would deliver the rest later. I ordered because I wanted to stay home and be safe rather than go out grocery shopping. Now I need to go out to the store to get the rest of the items I ordered. If I had known they were not going to fill my order, I would have gone out in the first place. I did not get an email or a phone call telling me they were going to only fill less than half of my order and asking if I still wanted it. I tried calling them to ask for my delivery and service fees back but I was on hold for 45 minutes and finally gave up. Beware out there if you are ordering grocery delivery from Von's on line - or be smarter than me and check the order and don't accept it and call your credit card company and cancel the order. This store has the worst bakery. Nothing is in code but yet it's out for customers to buy?!?! It's also the tiniest & scuzziest one I've ever been in. We hate going in their w/ all of those nasty high schoolers from across the street. It's a crap hole store & no one seems to care to do their jobs. I would seriously avoid this store like the plague. Von's is not the worst store out there, Albertson's is by the way. But the store on Edinger in Huntington Beach told my wife that since she didn't shop there she would have to pay cash. Checks clear banks immediately and we have lived here since 1956. I never take crap like that and went back and confronted the cashier, who called one of those "pretend" assistant managers to agree to everything I said; then they smirked after I left. Every time I go into Von's now I loudly DEMAND to see a manager and explain that service better be to their high standards. After that all the Von's stores know that I mean business. Treat me like a 3rd class citizen, and my wife worse and expect to get an earful. I've always loved this store, and have shopped here for 17 years. My only complaint until recently, has been the overcrowded aisles. Again, until recently, I've found the employees to be warm, friendly, and engaged in their work. Something has definitely changed in the last few months. My favorite checkers: Cynthia, Kim, and Marilyn are nowhere to be seen, and the new employees are rude and distracted. The most frustrating part of the checkout process is the so-called "Express" lines. What joke. Not only does one have to stand there listening to endless chit chat (I'm talking to YOU, Cheryl), but when someone doesn't have a Von's number, everything stops while the checker takes out a form and has the person fill it out and then takes more time to discuss it with the customer. So, the bottom line is that someone who is clueless and has never been in the store before (and probably isn't from the area) has greater priority than the person who has been shopping there several times a week for more than 10 years. Thanks for your customer appreciation. The new employees will cut you off in an aisle, forcing you to pull up with your cart, and then won't even dispense with a cursory "Excuse me." One woman, who stocks in pretty much every department, walks through the store like a storm trooper, cutting off people (the customers who pay your paycheck, sweetheart), and acts like what she is doing is far more important than what anyone around her is up to, including her fellow employees. One employee, who is seen most of the time in produce (Anthony?), is so self-absorbed and arrogant he has never greeted me in 17 years. What a jerk. The aisles are crowded and no one seems to know what is going on there anymore. It's such a shame. This used to be such a GREAT store. I agree with one of the above posters who said Corey was great. So are some of the older crew who have been there for years. I feel sorry for them that they have to work there now. What a way for corporate to reward great employees. The worst part is that I have written to the company in a nice, positive way about my concerns and have never heard back from them once. They obviously don't care about what is going on there. I have been going to this Von's for some time because I live in the area. I couldn't help but notice that the cashier named Marilyn is by far the rudest cashier I've ever come by. Not only was she mean to myself but condescending to the baggers as well. She asked me if " I had a mental disability " because I accidentally pulled out a $5 instead of a $20. I have had SEVERAL problems at this store and now drive 20 minutes out of my way to go to my old Vons that I used to go to. I cannot believe how unprofessional this store is. I live really close to this store but I still don't go here because not a huge selections on anything, overpriced if it's not on sale or it's just dead when I go. Anyway, tonight I went to get something for work, I needed to use the restroom but grrrr I forgot their restroom was locked and I have to go to the cashier to ask for the code, wth? The only real criticism of this Vons store, where I have been shopping for 22 years, it that they continually discontinue or under-stock items that I regularly purchase. I want something, it's on the shelf, I buy it, and the next time I look for it, it's not there, and there is not even a space for it. They have discontinued it. Or, when I go to purchase 12-packs of Diet Mountain Dew, the price indicator says "Must Buy 4 (to get the discounted price), but there are only 3 on the shelf, and indeed only room for 3. When I get to the checkout stand, I am asked if I found everything I needed, and I have to say "no." They tell me that I should find someone to locate what I need in the back. I say "NO!" The chicken wasn't even heated up. There were chunks of ice on it. The fries were over salted and had to get my tongue checked out at the clinic because it was was overdosed on sodium. I tried to wash out the taste of salt with potato salad but cockroaches were inside. As I was frantically running from the roach a lady asked me for cigarettes. I said no because I don't smoke but her husband came over and ran me out the store. Then I got hit by an employees car. read more

I've been to this store twice only because it is convenient when I'm leaving the gym. The first time I went the cashier was sort of rude and after I got my groceries he didn't even give me my receipt (I didn't realize this until I was ready to my car). The second time I went, the young cashier was texting on his phone while proceeding to scan my grocery items, then mumbling my total to me. The bagger just stood there and I had to grab my groceries quickly before he bagged them up for the person behind me. I'm not sure if I'll be back because of the service. ggggreat! place to shop. They've wisely chosen to stay open until 1AM when just about everything else around for miles is closed. Clean, modern store with a great selection of stuff for their size (hence only 4 outta 5- not their fault as they don't have space to be a Super Pavillion like Seal Beach has) and the staff I've had the chance to interact with have been all been helpful. Plus the deli rocks, along with the beer and joy juice offerings- lots of good wodka and takillya brands on the shelves. Finally, the best part is Bob the cashier at the end of the haul; always happy and a blast to talk to on the way out to put you in a better mood. P.S. From the reviews below, a recent study indicates that 99.99735 per cent of ALL GROCERY STORES have lavatory facilities for your public excretion pleasures located... in the back, as do most all other large box footprint retailers. I shop almost every Sunday, my only day off. 2 weeks ago I had a great customer service experience with Tyler in deli. He was helpful, sincere and seemed to be really enjoying his job! Made a very positive impression, which is not always the case in this store. Usually in deli area I get frustrated because whoever stocks puts 2 heavy carts right in front of the wall case and you can't shop or get around them, instead of in the middle area where there is more room near the bake table. read more

What happened to Vons? I used to do all of my shopping there. Steadily they have become the most expensive of all the chain stores. It's not worth going there anymore unless something is on sale. Go to this vons all the time because it's right across the street from my work. The people in the deli are usually very nice but today (08/07/14 830am) the lady who made my breakfast sandwich was extremely rude. This lady rolled her eyes at me with a disgusted look on her face not once but twice! Once for asking for egg whites and one more time when I asked for lettuce and tomato on my sandwich. Are you kidding me? I was so angry by this that I ended up throwing the sandwich away on my way back to work. Thus I will no longer step foot inside that store again. This store is close to my house but I will drive by it to get to Ralphs or Albertsons. This is one of the dirtiest stores I've ever seen, you need to check expiration dates carefully as they don't monitor that , and it's not unusual to be in line behind 7 or 8 people because they don't have enough cashiers and there is no self checkout so good luck if you want a loaf of bread in a hurry. read more

Store Experience When Did This Happen?: 04/10/2018 Comments: by far the worst shopping experience ever at any retail store. I was told by your Manager/Associate Brittany "DON"T come back now". Unbelievable. This was due to my apparent look of disgust and negative attitude toward her. How did this happen? You had only 2 check stands open at 8pm on a Tuesday night. The lines were long and you lost half a dozen shoppers easy. Brittany had to deal with a Lotto issue and left the check stand for at least 5 minutes. There was 6 of us in line aside from the Lotto redeemers who just sat there. No apology was offered-- NOTHING. That's what the real problem was. Brittany returned to the check stand and acted as if nothing happened. When it was my turn to be helped she asked me how my night was. I told her the truth and complained about the delay. She never offered an apology and told me "I didn't write the schedule and that I can call corporate." So now I took your survey, called corporate, and now I am filing my complaint online. This was a moment of misery. This was terrible. " Don't come back now" I can still hear it. read more
