Horrible experience as I was looking forward to buying fresh bread and donuts last night. The closed glass doors filled with donuts also were filled with multiple mosquitos and a couple flies. "i was racially discriminated against on 3/21/2020 at 6:53am by the Vons store manager at 4226 Woodruff Blvd. Lakewood, CA. her name is Anna Nix. I was in a designated line for elderly (I AM) or disabled ( I am also disabled) people that was suppose to let people in at 7 am, and I was first in that line, the manager came out a few minutes earlier, and targeted me. She told me I would not be allowed into the store. She said I would have to come back at 9am. I am both Elderly and Disabled (Diabetes type 2 and Heart Disease) I was the only African American in the line, which at this time, was about 40 people, I was first. I arrived and lined up first. I told her I was elderly and I was eligible to be in this 7am line. She then said, I need to go and get in the back of the line. I was then very upset she would suggest I cut in line. At this moment, I was the only black male in this line. It was solely due to my skin color, that this manager decided to accuse me of cutting in front on the line. The lady who was 2nd and the lady who was 3rd both adamantly told both the Manager and the other staff member she was with, that I was the first person to line up and head the line. I was very upset that this manager decided to turn back the clock and use old fashion racism to run me away. I told her I was not pleased that she used only the fact I was a black male, to try to start a confrontation with me. I was standing in line, being orderly, not bothering anybody. I just left my job early, to get some soup for my sick wife. The manager, upset that I mentioned that what she did was a racist act, decided to call the Lakewood sheriff department to try to intimidate me more. The sheriffs came and I had my social distanced compromised badly. I now had 7 officers surrounding me, face to face. They wanted to know the problem. The officers appeared very upset that the Store Manager would target me without any cause. The manager wanted them to make me leave, for being upset that I was racially profiled by her. The officers refused to make me leave. The Store was opened, the other staff member, an Latino gentlemen, he was very apologetic and promised me that I could report this woman and corporate would follow up. I was so upset, because, You can not determine someone's age or health situation by site. She singled me out by site. The only then I had was my sick was black. I felt it was a racist moment. I was allowed into the store, the sheriff deputies left. While Shopping, the store Manager followed me around to harass me, I felt. I went to pay for my groceries, with cash, and right after I paid for my groceries, I was having a conversation with the checker, Joan I believe, and the store manager rudely came over and told me I better leave the store or she will call the deputies on me. The cashier was stunned and shocked, she looked like she was about to cry, I simply wished her a good day. It was nobody in the line, so it wasn't me holding up the line, I was the only one in at the checker (5) The store manager was angry and agitated that I alerted the deputies that I was racially discriminated while trying to shop by the Manager. I called the store, and a African America worker answered. I told him exactly what happened. He apologized and he said "this is not the first time she has been accused of racial bias here. I thanked him, This is all on cameras. Please get the camera footage and it will show Anna Nix singling me out, pointing her finger at me then directing the finger to out of the parking area. One of the worst Vons locations I've ever been to! Just trying to get into the parking lot and to the gas station was unbelievable! The gas station had lines like all the Costco locations! I am not exaggerating! The lines were so long that you could not even enter the parking lot in a safe manner. You had to enter and drive around everyone in the lines that they created, which were blocking the flow of traffic. Had an emergency vehicle needed to enter, good luck to them! You would think Vons would have an employee out there helping with the gas station, but nope! No Vons associate in sight. The price wasn't even that cheap. After I finally got through the gas station lines and parking lot, I left! There was a homeless person who set up camp right outside the entrance to the store, and was acting erratically - not a safe environment. Drove down the street and saw a gas station with the same price as this Vons one! Never coming here again based off this ordeal! read more

Never again.. It's my first time here since I am just visiting and went to assist my grandma in buying wipes. Rudest cashier named LIZ. Being the cashier you're the face of your store. You have a Pharmacy inside and for sure you will always get elderly customers. She asked for Vons card or registered phone number. Initially my grandma gave her phone number and this cashier said "No" and so I tried mine and she said "You have to register your card" but not being clear as to how.. and so my grandma said ok never mind then just ring us up. And she keep saying you have to register.. so my grandma said again "ok try this number maybe my daughter has one" LIZ replied "NO! I am not gonna try another number or we will be here all night trying numbers!" I would understand if we hold the line for too long.. but there was only one customer behind us and she could have said it nicely. Liz, you need customer service training! read more

What a joke. I really think this Vons is employed with people who have never left Lakewood in their life. Does it not register to you that someone can be from out of town visiting his/her/their family?? Apparently not. Every time I come here, I get the biggest attitude over my ID and unnecessary judgement from both the cashier and bag person. Thanks Amy, I get that you are doing your due diligence but you do not have to be such a pain about it. As for your bagging attendant, this older woman really needs to get her attitude checked. Ordered two trays of hoagie sandwiches and two trays of veggies. Veggies were good, but the sandwiches all had one piece of meat in it and no cheese. So disappointed order many times before and were great. Complained to the manager and all she said was sorry about that. Will never order from the deli at vons again. Store is great, but regularly having to wait in line for 15-20 minutes at the checkout is ridiculous. Either the store is understaffed, or poorly managed, because no matter what time of day I go the cashier lines go into the aisles, and they only ever have two check stands open... I still have problems with their lack of privacy policy. I try not to shop at Von's or Pavillion's. You see, my personal information, including my identity -- specifically my last name -- doesn't need to be announced to a line full of strangers. Now, on to the good stuff. Since Breast Cancer Awareness month is over, the pink "eco-friendly" shopping bags have been marked down to $0.88 . These bags have nice wide thick woven webbing handles and are a decent thickness to hold groceries. Still, a good deal at eighty-eight cents. read more

My family and I were in there for only about 10 minutes, so my review will have nothing to do with customer service. I usually go to other supermarkets, ones where we bag our own grocery, but since we were in the area, we thought we'd stop by and pick up a few things. After shopping for years at our regular store, the cost of nearly everything I saw in Vons seems to be so overpriced. We only had about 5 things we bought, and even with club discount, it came out to about 20. At the other stores, 20 will get you half a basket. So, maybe, I thought, the quality must be much better. I had bought some Vday cupcakes -- 12 for 6, which isn't bad, but the taste is like any other cupcake baked in a store bakery. Likewise, the other things we got were regular products that were priced twice what we normally pay and that was their sale price. I'll stick to my 'hood stores unless I'm craving their soup. mmmm. Went to the pharmacy super late 7:55 pm (I know that's late) but I simply wanted to drop off a prescription and come back the next day. They already had their gates closed but were sitting inside even though it says they closed at 8pm? We asked why they were closed and they gave no good reason at all? Then I'm pretty sure they knew that was wrong to do so one came out to check out the prescription then told me they don't take GoodRX coupons. Alright, I have been shopping at this Store for a lot of Years, since I live around the Corner. After a while, it was clear that the Prices here are always a bit more than the "other Stores" like Stater Brothers, etc. But I come to the Deli a lot, quickly grab a few pieces of Chicken, pay right there and be on my Way. Seems like Customer service quality dropped, as well. Today I came in for some Chicken, and only one single Guy was behind the Counter. I am standing there, looking at the BBQ Chicken. Him: "I'll be right with you, as soon as I have these Burritos done." He hasn't even started these yet, and I don't see anyone around waiting for some Burritos. So he continues making his Burritos, a couple of other Customers are waiting behind me now. This Deli is huge, and there is no-one but him, Jace is his Name. Another Customer behind me asks: "Can you get someone to help us out here?" He replies: "Sorry, I'm the only one here" and continues his damn Burritos. He then puts the Burritos on the Counter, and no-one picks them up. My Turn, finally. "So there Burritos were so damn important?". Some other Customer comes walking up now and Jace simply tells me: "Uhm, He was first." I point out that there is a "Digital Coupon" available for some Chicken and I want those. As soon as he rings me up he says that this "coupon" is only if you have a certain App on your Phone. I will not clutter my Phone with yet another useless App, thanks. "You can take it up with the Managers up front if you like" me mentions. At this point I am so done with his attitude and just pay full price to get the Hell out of there. Note to self: I have not shopped there because of the higher prices, and now I won't go there for their crappy attitude at the Deli. I'm sure the Chicken over at Ralphs are just as good. I visited this Vons and they say they have free WiFi, but it didn't work. I have used it several times in the past. The login screen kept working at first and stopping. I restarted my computer and did everything I could do. They must have a problem with their router or their software. Epic fail, Vons. Epic fail. Fix your WiFi. Vons has gotten rid of the only organic bread they used to carry. It was called Dave's Killer Bread. They raised the price by a dollar a few months ago and now it's gone and not just sold out, but it's totally gone. I price checked organic raisins and they are cheaper at Ralph's. I price checked organic cashews and organic almonds and they are cheaper at Walmart. I price checked organic oranges and organic bananas and they are cheaper at Sprouts. Their organic peanut butter, organic cereal and organic coffee are on sale, so I bought some. read more

Got my green tea frap at this Starbucks, and it was undrinkable. It was powdery, there were still chunks of ice in there. When my drink was ready , it was not called out and I didn't even know it was sitting there. If I had known it was in a supermarket I would have passed. Starbucks is not consistent with their frappacino drinks as it is, seems to be worse inside a supermarket. read more

The Nordstrom of grocery stores. All the employees are nice and always say hello or offer to help. This is the closest grocery store to me. They have a good selection of "health", soy-based, alternative, vegetarian/vegan, gluten-free, etc. For items I can't get at the Farmers Market, I will go here. Their fruits are fresher than Fresh and Easy across the street. They have the moistest cake (birthday/cupcakes) and it's only $13 for a good round size. Easy for those office birthday parties. Came here to get money from our bank, and had to get some snacks, and fruits. Reason for the 2 stars is: 1. People are friendly 2. Easy access to our bank, starbucks, and red box. :) Now for the other 3 stars is because; 1. Its a bit pricey no matter if you have a VONS card. 2. There are little lanes open and running that the line get LONG. 3. Bathroom is not that clean. In the women's bathroom tissue is on the floor or there is no tissue at all, and for the men's (my husbands complain) tissue's are also on the floor. read more

I'm surprised to see this Vons have so many bad reviews! People are weird. This is a very nice Vons actually. I've been coming here since I was a kid. Everyone is super friendly and helpful, I've never had a bad experience with staff. The store is always super clean which I love because I hate dirty grocery stores and I've seen quite a few. Lines can get a little long SOMETIMES but I feel like they usually hop on it. The Starbucks inside is good too and usually pretty quick. The only reason I don't give 5 stars is because they don't have Boars Head products, so sometimes I do go to Pavillions, otherwise I'd always come here. Really wish they could get Boars Head here though I think they'd gain quite a few more customers. read more

I love my grocery store! This Vons is about as good as a chain supermarket can get. The service is always friendly and helpful. I especially love the attention you get in the meat and seafood department. The store is newly remodeled and feels inviting. There is even a Starbucks inside. I can generally find most items I am looking for and the store is always well-stocked. The florist section is bountiful and always has a nice selection of flowers. This Vons is overall pretty decent. I run into this place when I forget an ingredient, need some flowers, etc. They have the largest selection among the other markets on the block (Sprouts and Smart and Final). However, their prices are probably the worst, and the vibe is quite boring inside. Again, it's a decent market. Not awesome, but not terrible either. When it comes to dry goods, veggies, frozen things, can goods, dairy products, snacks, sodas, this place is great. They always have a good selection and the produce is typically pretty fresh and the prices are good. My only fault with this location is the meat selection, specifically when it comes to buying pork or chicken (unfrozen). I find that their selection is often lacking and doesn't look very fresh. If you're looking for red meat, they always seem to have plenty of choices. But for pork and chicken, unless you're buying frozen, there's not much to it. I shop here all the time, and this morning I realized I ran out of creamer and went to go get some. No one else was home, so I brought my pup along as he has separation anxiety.
