Never thought I would write a review on a supermarket, but I had to write on today because of my experience there today. Every corner I turned, there was a Vons staff there to greet me and ask if I needed anything. I have never felt so special at a big chain supermarket. The staff is all so friendly! I go to this Vons all the time. I actually made a switch from Ralphs to Vons because the store is always clean, stocked, the staff is friendly, and their produce is always fresh. The quality of meat and produce is so much fresher and better tasting than other super markets They have great deals, especially with their Vons card. I just want to particularly commend the staff. They are so friendly and will even help you with your groceries. read more

Short lines except for at the crack o dawn .. give in theres like only one cashier. My favorite sandwiches made to order are from VONS.. my favorite is the grilled chicken breast with artichoke hearts on pesto focaccia. And if you want to try something just have them open it up, they said its a policy of theirs so my sis and I got to try different drinks in the soda section. I often use this place. Because I stay late and there are many things. But if there is a late checkout, I think there is only one checkout line. I think it is too long. I hope there are two of us who are late for the late checkout. Above all, parking lot is bigger. read more

This review is primarily for the delivery service. I got an order from them last night and two items were missing, including the COFFEE (gasp). Then there was the substitution - I ordered Pinot Grigio and got Pinot Noir. When I pointed this out to the driver, he told me it was the same thing! I only shop at Safeway, Pavillions, and Vons stires...brand loyalty and all. The J4U program is pretty nice as well. The store manager is cool, hipped me to some upcoming sales when I asked a question. It's the rest of the staff that isn't so great. I called to make a bulk order and it was like I tried to order nuclear weapons, it is probably easier to order nuclear weapons. I wanted to order water. It didn't happen. "Edward" in the seafood dept sold me 2 rotten pieces of trout last night. The smell when I got home and opened the package was so overwhelming, I gagged. In other words, Edward knew damn well he was selling me bad fish and didn't care. It should also be noted that this was 8:30pm on a Tuesday night. When I approached the fish counter, he was already cleaning in the back. I said "Hey there. I know you're trying to get outta here. I just need two trout fillets real quick." He mumbled something passive aggressive under his breath and I said "excuse me?" He snapped back "I'm trying to clean. That's what I'm doing." So... yeah. Edward was annoyed that I caused him to stay there an extra 90 seconds, so it seems he was completely justified in selling me rotten trout.... at 6.99 per 6oz piece. My bad, I guess, for not looking at the fish and smelling it when he removed it from behind the glass to sell to me. This is more upsetting because there is no way he didn't know that fish was spoiled. He did this intentionally. I'll be letting corporate know my experience. read more

It's probably because of the neighborhood but come on, literally every time I walk in there are NEVER baskets by the door (big deal right?) but then I have to fight through a monster crowd to get one because there are NEVER enough registers open. Security just sits on their phone at the front while crazy people attack people on their way in from their cars. I've walked in a number of times about to spend like 120$ and end up driving somewhere else. It's LEAGUES behind all of the other Vons I go to. Just work harder for your customers! Really a three and a half but I don't like to knock businesses so I gave it a 4 on here While I'm not at all someone that is boojie or however you spell it, I live in Beverly Hills and shop at the bond by me. Went here on my way to work cause I didn't have time to go to the one by me. Not sure if it's due to the lower income population in the area in comparison. But there produce is sub par to the selection by me for the same money. Tomatoes all looked older and avocado the same. Also 230pm and 3 checkers with about 10 people in line. They have more than three by me and start pulling out everyone to check out The workers were all nice and hardworking. This 5 star review is for Josh! (I'm 99% sure that was his name, he had curly black hair and answered the phone for Drive-Up-&-Go order) He was incredibly kind and I have never witnessed such exceptional customer service! The Vons was bustling and when I pulled up he was helping out other people in the DU&G parking spaces, treating them with kindness, answering their questions and had a great attitude about it all! He asked me how he could help even before I could make the phone call for my order! He brought it out and then wished me a great day. Somehow there was a small hiccup in my order where I was missing just a few items (which was totally fine because it was a pretty chaotic and busy day for this Vons, and I've worked in customer/food service before so I know the struggle!) When I went back, Josh had ran back into the store, grabbed one of each flavor/size of every item and brought them all back in out a shopping cart so that I could pick the right one, and it absolutely made my day to see someone care so much about providing exceptional service and with such a great and positive attitude. Ashley was my cashier & there was one bagger there but she left & there was another worker named Jasmine standing there with a vons bag & her phone, she looked to be on break or off. The ENTIRE time I was standing there they were talking to each and on their phones talking about Facebook. None of my items got bagged until the very end. I've been going to this Vons the last 3 years since I've lived in Korea town and let me just say, I've never had a grocery shopping experience quiet like I did today. My cashier Ernie, truly made my day...he turned my really exhausting and stressful day around. He was so friendly and so engaged in getting to know about each customer and he even shook my hand and referred to me by my name, instead of the usual "ma'am" or "miss". He gave me words of encouragement on an upcoming life obstacle I have ahead of me, and his positive vibes rubbed off on everyone else in line behind me, because they wished me luck too as I walked off. Ernie is truly an asset to this store, but more importantly to our society. It's hard to find people like him anymore. Thank you Ernie for restoring my faith in humanity. Nice and a lot of stuff, I finally found Lebanese Bread :) They're really lacking better "club" card support. Ralphs allowed me to create a card with the Android app all ID that is my phone number (so if the app can't be accessed for some reason, I can still use alt ID/phone number to apply the discounts with my phone or card) and I had a digital card that worked like a physical card in less than a second without any hassle. That and self-checkout. Also, some Halal groceries would be nice, they already have Kosher section. read more

This is probably the slowest group of employees I've ever experienced at both the deli and at checkout. I went during lunch to pick up a sandwich at the deli. Sandwiches are good, but I consistently forget about the wait times here. No express check-out during lunch hours, and deli workers make sandwiches slower than a snail. It took me 40 minutes to pick up & pay for my sandwich in/out. Unacceptable unless you have 2 hour lunch or you just LOVE standing in line! read more

In a town where most deli counters will barely acknowledge you, it was refreshing to find someone able to help me get the cake I wanted for an affordable price! Valentina is a cake concierge supreme. I live about 15 seconds away from Vons & Ralphs (they're across the street from eachother) and I always seem to choose Vons everytime. It's A LOT cleaner, everything is organized, better variety in toiletries, food, drinks, esp ICE CREAM, fresh produce at all times, and they have a Starbucks inside! Automatic 5 stars! Staffs are always helpful and parking is never crowded like Ralphs especially during rush hour time. read more

So I went to vons earlier today and bought two boxes of frozen food. I came home and opened the box and the food contained massive molds. It was filled with green and blue stuff on the top (attached the picture). Totally disgusting! I went back to get a full refund and a sincere apology but the store manager rarely seemed to care and he wasn't taking this seriously enough. The food was outdated and they said that it was packaged incorrectly. However, that's not my problem! They should be extra careful on food! I can't believe they're actually selling this at the store to the customers. In fact, I'm pregnant! So I called the Vons customer service to complain about this issue. I felt compelled to write this review after my experience today getting a sandwich at the deli. The girl who made my sandwich, Darling, was amazing! Even before it was my turn, I noticed how much care she took in making a sandwich for the customer ahead of me, she didnt even let a pickle be out of place! I was excited that I got her to make mine because she did not disappoint! I've had previous experiences where my sandwich is made all half-assed, super messy with everything spilling out, but Darling was great. That's what I call craftsmanship. And this is not the first time I notice her attention to detail while working here. A few months ago, she bagged my groceries and she also took such care to make sure that everything was properly placed. It's the little things and I truly appreciate it when someone goes the extra mile to do a great job! read more

I purchased a gift card as a get well gift for a friend at a Vons Store on 3rd Street in Los Angeles. Today (10/9/12) he visited that store, on his crutches, asked for assistance from an employee to carry his basket, who said "NO". 4 other employees working offered no assistance. Another shopper saw him and helped him in the store. This is unacceptable. I understand that this store may have some problems because there are often homeless people sitting outside, but my friend is a teacher at a local community college, a personal trainer and a professional sports and fitness writer. Believe me, I will publish my complaint on every public and social media forum I find today. read more

There's a Ralphs right across the street but I choose to go to Vons because of the cleaness of the place and wide variety of selections. However, the reason why I give this place low rating is for just ONE reason. I usually go to this location around 10:00pm any day of the week. They only have two checkout stands open and you pretty much have to wait at least 10-20mins just to checkout. I've called the corporate office and they did fix the problem for awhile and they're back. Many & Many people complain about this often but they don't seem to care. Maybe this is the reason why Vons was bought by Kroger (Ralphs) recently (according to the news). read more
