I saw those 2 stars on Yelp? I think it worth more. Maybe not 5 stars, but still, the place is beautiful. It is big, they have many quality merchandise, and they even have Starbucks inside. One thing bothered me about today's visit (Thursday noon), is the smell that came from their Deli area. Really bad small that made me feel little sick. It is a great market, big fruits and veg section, and easy to find what you are looking for. Needed answers for some basic questions, but couldn't find anyone to answer. So walked all the way to the cashier for answers. Overall it is a place I am planning to return to. And always fun to finish with Starbucks to go. read more

UPDATE: Lucy is a MANAGER!? Ridiculously unfit for her position. Lucy was incredibly impatient and disrespectful toward a worker AND customer. It made me so appalled that I had a full on melt down in the car. Grocery stores are already so triggering because of this virus, and to see the worker, and then an elderly customer who had basic questions, be treated this way was too much for me. Very poor customer service, retention and overall product quality. Management is nonexistent, taking smoke breaks or gossiping with coworkers. Cashiers often gossiping loudly, cursing and swearing clearly with customers. PRODUCT IS OFTEN OLD OR EXPIRING. Produce is always on its last leg, soggy beer boxes I mean its endless! The supervisor lady that just helped me didn't know how to blow up balloons but when she heard my dad was in the ER next door, she went above and beyond for me by learning how to blow up the balloons, helped me put together a nice arrangement and then gave me a lovely discount to make my day better! I was asked by a 'produce' manager a week ago to wear a mask. I had forgotten to put one in my purse after a long day at work! Apologized and went to get my mask. Upon my return, he said "Thank you." Two days ago at the Tarzana Von's, I entered and saw two women NOT wearing masks! When I approached the cashiers Mary and Maria, they said they "were told not to confront them" This is NOT COVID regulations! I've been meaning to write a review on this particular Vons location forever! This is the worst Vons in the whole valley. I live a block away and go elsewhere because of how bad this one is. No exaggeration every time I go in the checkout people are ALWAYS unprofessional, distracted, don't greet the customers, the checker and the bagger always have a conversation if their own going on and it's always something that shouldn't be talked about in front of customers. They are oblivious to the fact that people are there, last time I was in a couple weeks ago the bagger was cursing while laughing it up with the cashier, never once greeted me or looked in my direction. One time there was some drama between employees and the cashier was talking smack to the bagger, they yell across registers to each other, a cashier said blah blah...... better not or I'll kick his ass. I'm begging this Vons to get their act together. First of all - the parking lot needs a major makeover. Repaved, repainted, better lighting, nicer landscaping- it's a complete dump. Second- you've lost my business in your bakery department. I literally went in five times to order a cake and the only cake decorator you have was either on a break or at lunch or left for the day at 2pm. You need to hire more people to run your departments. Unbelievable!!! This is my neighborhood Vons. I've been coming here for years. I miss the old manager and employees. I was in there this evening and couldn't believe my eyes and ears. They have 3 undercover/loss prevention employees. They were profiling an older guy because he had a ponytail. They were following him around trying to catch him doing something and he did nothing. I watched until he left the store. It was like a movie. Then they start watching the people in lines, looking at there baskets, as if someone in the line was going to steal. This Vons is low key, unpretentious and has everything you would need. I have never encountered anyone rude working there, in fact the opposite. I much prefer it to the White Oaks Ralphs which is overcrowded no matter what time of day it is. They also have a Starbucks here as well. I used to like shopping here as a cheaper alternative to Gelson's. But, the parking lot is full of homeless and grifters. I no longer feel safe shopping here. Also, 1 time an alarm went off and nobody knew how to turn it off even after it was determined that the alarm was erroneous. Also the food quality and selection has gone downhill. This place is like an episode of cheers. Everybody knows your name! The staff are usually super friendly. There is one manager who is a complete jerk (you will know who it is as soon as you see him), but I don't let him ruin my shopping trip. Well stocked produce (minus the onions, not sure why they are always on the verge of being old) and very well stocked meat. Tri tip and London broils are always on sale here. They have the five dollar Fridays which can get you a whole chicken or fresh sliced luncheon meat. Also they have a decent selection of low carb ice cream bars! I like the size of this location. Its a smaller grocery store, still packed with tons selections but you can always be in and out relatively quickly. read more

This store is utterly terrible. Let me express to you how unprofessional the management is at this particular store. It's quite appalling. They seriously need to reevaluate their management and try to emulate Ralphs considerably more -- where the managers and staff are considerably more friendly. It's no wonder that Ralphs is always so packed -- better service, cleaner store, lower prices, and fresher produce. I must say how happy I was there were open.... I needed to make a super early 6:30 am meeting for work and wanted to pick up some breakfast for my team. I yelped surrounding grocery stores and they all seem to open around 7 am. Ugh. Totally my fault for not planning ahead of time. I drove to this Vons, Tarzana location, because let's face it it's close to my house and a 24 hour Wenchells donuts ( when in doubt donut shops are open super early). And to my surprise I saw customers walking out of the store. Keep in mind it's 5:45 am and I'm desperate. I pulled and clerk let me know they open at 5 am everyday!! Horray!!! I was able to grab fruits and freshly baked bagels!!! And my team definitely loved that I supplied breakfast this early!! Thanks Vons Team. You really made my morning. read more

The only reason this place gets 2 stars is because it's open really late. Other than that, AVOID. There is ALWAYS a LONG LINE and the bored employees do not care that there is 15 people waiting in 1 line. This happens at all times of the day. I came at 10pm on a Sunday thinking for sure there won't be a long wait to buy 1 thing. But of course, there's 8 people on 1 open cash register. I wait 10 minutes thinking I should just abandon cart the entire time. Finally I ask someone to open another register, she gives me an eye roll but does check me out.
