Honestly, this location is the better Vons for customer service and inventory in stock vs the others. Last night after work, went to pick up some groceries. It was around 9:30pm, so definitely you had the skeleton crew working. I couldn't find a pack of regular 12 count large white AA eggs that I was looking for but went on my way. At the check out register, Christy was helping me out. She was the only open check out lane that was available and we had some small talk. Didn't think much of it but told her about the eggs. I mentioned I found the cage free 12 count package of eggs but I was just looking for the regular 12 count pack. She asked if anyone helped me check the back. I said that I didn't ask and figured it was out of stock. I told her it wasn't a big deal and was using my points in my Vons app. She rang me up for my items and I paid. Then she said to wait while she personally went to the back to check if there is any eggs. The store wasn't busy and there was no other customers around. She came back with eggs in hand. She didn't find any of the regular eggs but there was a 12 count jumbo large eggs in her hands. She explained that she'll give me these instead as a replacement. So she rang me up for the price of the regular eggs but charged me for the jumbo! In the end, I didn't have to pay because I was using my points. She was so nice and so helpful!!! I have been shopping here for over a decade and just recently this location has been going downhill fast. They have a switch in supervisors and the new one named Hannah is extremely rude. She has no customer service skills as she has talked down to me and my family instead of trying to help. I do not understand how the higher up thinks this is appropriate. They have some new hires that are also EXTREMELY RUDE! I have had three bad experiences now with the same girl, Cristina. She has yelled at me for changing my mind with an item. She was upset she had to delete the item, but isn't that her job? Why is she yelling at the paying customer for something so silly? Placed an order on 03/03/21 for a pickup at the store the next day, and I was the one that had to reach out to this store on 03/05/21 to find out it was cancelled due to the person picking the order claiming it was fraudulent. So I guess normal protocol is to have your customers waiting for a pickup confirmation that I never received and now I'm stuck checking back on my bank account everyday hoping that charge falls off. This was my family's supermarket for most of my childhood. Originally, we used to go to Alpha Beta, which was located in the strip mall where Trader Joe's is, but when it closed, we switched over to the Vons in Whittwood. They've remodeled this place a couple of times and added a Starbucks, as if Whittier (or anywhere) needs more of those. I didn't like the last remodel, mainly because they switched the produce to the other side of the store. (The whole point of going to the same supermarket is familiarity, and the decision to change the aisles seemed pretty arbitrary.) The issue is safety, I saw an elderly woman trip and almost fall over a wine case that this guy placed on the floor and left unattended for at least 5 minutes, I noticed multiple cases on the floor so it was pretty obvious that some shelf stocking was going on. Just went to get lunch. I tried to get my usual chicken meal deal only to find them limited on what chicken you can get. Worker was very clueless on what they sold and wondering where some guy who takes care of stuff. She did try to offer somewhat good of service. Lately been having problems with the quality of the food. Chicken breast and chicken tenders are super dry and hard. Potato wedges taste old and too hard. This was our first time ordering on line groceries, and it was an awful experience. I had placed the order for next day delivery on a Friday evening and order never got delivered on Sat. From 8-12 noon. I called and was told it will be re sent the following morning.., and they failed again. Today is Sunday 2pm and nothing was ever sent. I made numerous calls to CS dept and the store directly. I don't understand there logistics. Why would a Whittier office send groceries to Anaheim. There was a Vons a few miles from the delivery address. So disappointed how you speak to these people working for such a huge company, and they just don't care. I have had yet another GREAT experience with this bakery and the most awesome decorator "Shelly"! I ordered a half sheet cake for my daughter's 25th birthday party and, by chance, Shelly just happened to be there at the counter when I was ordering said cake. She was SUper receptive to helping me with design and decoration in copying a beautiful cake I had seen on Pinterest. Shelly nailed it and made the most perfectly decorated cake with much attention to the colors and detail....It was absolutely beautiful and of course so tasty...Several of the party guests commented on just how great it was and wanted to know the name of the bakery as well. The one star is for the bakery department. Vons makes excellent cakes and the bakery employees are helpful. This complaint is about one particular cashier and also the response I received from their customer service department. Melissa is the rudest cashier ever. Her looks complement her attitude with the scowling face she displays. During my encounter with her, I greeted her and asked her if she was having a bad day and very grumpily, she said no. I then told her that seems unhappy. Her response was, "I was smiling; I guess it wasn't good enough for you. Wow - awesome customer service skills this one has. I recently was chatting with a couple of women in the checkout line at Target. Vons customer service was mentioned, and I told them that I complained about a rude employee there. One of the women knew exactly who I was talking about and also said she is simply rude and miserable. I left a voice mail for the store manager and never received a return call. I then contacted their customer service headquarters and received indifferent responses. I also asked for their CEO's name and address and received no response. You can see where the employees get their great skills. Thank goodness for Trader Joes and Spouts!!!!! Their products are better in quality and prices. I love Vons just not this location (I miss the Vons in La Habra on Beach and Imperial) and not their online delivery. Prices are way too high even as a member and with discounts. I only shop here for the items I can't get at Trader Joe's or Grocery Outlet. I try not to shop here on Sunday night or Mondays because they are typically out of stock on basic popular items. Since COVID-19 I've had to rely on their online delivery service and practically every time at least a quarter of my order is out of stock (no cornstarch, no garlic, no cilantro, no creamer, no bacon, no sausage, no popcorn, to name a few --who runs out of these items on a Thursday mid-day?!) and certain items changed out for much larger portions or unparalleled quality, for example I ordered 2lbs of chicken breast, deal was for $7 bucks or so and I receive a family pack for $20! The worst part is half the time they don't deliver on time. I call in, if my call doesn't get disconnected before it transfers to the right person, after some research it always turns out there was a glitch with the system. Somehow my order time slot jumps from the chosen time to the last slot or day after. Management always tries to help, not sure who or what keeps dropping the ball...they need to fix the IT issue, we have been in lockdown since mid-March, almost 9 months and you are still having glitches? Came here for lunch because I wanted a chicken artichoke sandwich (one of my faves). As I was waiting to place my order a lady next to me says "oh my god, look at the veggies". To explain the veggies that they put in the sandwiches looked wilted, had already turned colors, and were just plain gross. I went in here today to deliver money with the western union that's located inside. I stepped inside and waited for 5 mins before someone asked me if I needed anything. A woman at the check stand asked me and I told her that I needed to send money. She then got on the phone. I continued to wait around for another 5 minutes or so. I asked another lady at another check stand if I could use her pen. She was an older lady maybe mix of Hispanic and Asian. She said "No because I'm using it".... Ok I get it she is using it. But really at least say One second or Hold on, she said No. Then I look down on her register that's by he scanner and she had two pens. Then that's when I got upset and asked "do you know when I'll be helped?" So the lady who I asked in the beginning said "oh sorry, the manager doesn't have a code for the western union". Why couldn't she tell me when she got off the phone instead of waiting around before telling me. Advice for the workers that I spoke too. If someone is standing by the "Customer Service" station. Maybe that means that Customer needs service" Also If a customer asked if they can use a pen and you're using it. Say something like "oh I'm using this one second" or at least look around and say you don't have another. But to just say "No I'm using it" doesn't come off as good service. I love this location because it's quiet and you won't have a problem parking. It is also close to everything from Target to JC Penny and other large superstores.
