My hopes were high for this place in finding some good Cajun food. I will say that the service was great and perhaps this is one of those days when the kitchen was off. The décor is pretty good and a reminder of what you would see in some new age vampire movie. I started off with the Black Magic Lemonade that I have to say was very tasty. I think for the most part any drink you order will be pretty good. From what I see the mixologist are on a bit higher level than the average ones you encounter at most bars. It was the highlight of the entire meal along with the great service from the waitress. Now to the main part of the review covering the food. The website advertises that Voodoo Bayou is "where Southern charm meets bold Cajun flair in an atmosphere that's as lively and unforgettable as the cuisine itself. Known as the premier destination for authentic Southern-inspired dining, Voodoo Bayou offers an indulgent experience with every visit." Now is this marketing or just the actual truth. I went with the crawfish and shrimp etouffee. Overall, the etouffee itself was ok but the rice at times was crunchy. Usually when that happens the rice is not cooked in enough liquid and kept at high heat. The consistency was not there and with each bite it was like what I would get. I mixed the rice with the etouffee in the hopes of hydrating the rice a bit more, but it was just hope. My wife took one bite of the shrimp poboy she ordered and it was a no. Going back to the great service it was noticed as the waitress came over and noticed our reaction. We said nothing as she mentioned it looked like my spouse was not enjoying her meal. I told her my order was not bad but not the best. The oysters Rockefeller were a good appetizer and did I mention the drink. The manager came over and asked if she wanted something else and she declined. The meal was removed but I am going back to saying the kitchen could have been off. The booth that was right behind me had issues with their food. What got me is that it was an issue with a burger. A burger. Part of their meal was comped. The food was not reminiscent of Cajun. If I go into a place that says they have a "Cajun flair" and I ask if you serve boudin and the answer is, "What's that?" then I should have known at that point. If you know then you know. Anyplace claiming Cajun better have boudin. Living on the gulf coast and I am not talking of just my experience with food in New Orleans, but Breaux Bridge, St Martinville, New Iberia, and the whole Acadiana area of Louisiana the food at Voodoo Bayou was way off target. For many this could be their first taste in Cajun food and many think after this visit this is how it should be. Bless your heart. This is what results in many people thinking Taco bell is actual Mexican food. Service and the drink were great but overall, this is a one and done with a not so happy visit on my first visit.
We went to dinner here on a Saturday evening with a group of friends. We did make reservations! I highly recommend reservations. The ambience is dark and vampire like. It felt like a scene from Blade lol I loved it! Red lights along a back wall was very cool. Our server was Chris and he was very attentive and friendly. We all loved our entrees! We started with the deviled eggs and smoked wings. Both phenomenal! Best I've had! Highly recommend both. I had the ya ya for my entree. It was perfectly spicy! They were out of redfish that night but I will return to order it! The jambalaya was fantastic also! I can't wait to go back and try new things!
This place is definitely interesting. We took the chair ride to the mystery room that I wish somebody would've told me that I can actually just walk through instead of awkwardly sitting on that rotating chair situation. A bunch of us set at the bar and the menus were really sticky and they kind of smelled weird. I ordered a Roku gin and tonic and my friends all ordered specialty drinks. There was definitely a good pour of gin and for that reason I would give this place four and a half stars. The service was kind of lacking as our bartender disappeared. I would go back.
Rare gem in Orlando! Very impressed with the quality of food Voodoo Bayou has to offer on top of their amazing decor, 5 stars all the way around! The food was literally to die for, the service was amazing from start to finish and the theming made everything even better! They even have a really cool speakeasy, sit on the two chairs in front near the wall to find out ((: I can't wait to come back and taste more of this delicious menu!! Also have to note these are the BEST beignets I've had in my entire life and they come out fresh and warm!
Visited on a Saturday night and it was very busy! Even with a reservation, we waited for a while to be seated. I would recommend coming on a weeknight or snagging an earlier reservation on the weekends. That said, the food here was delicious. The famous cornbread and Redfish were the highlight of the meal. They also have live music, but beware that the place is quite loud. Overall, it's worth the visit - even if just for the cornbread alone!
Love the ambiance of the place! Dark and with dim lights give it a more intimate vibe, but it was still lively as they had a live singer on stage. The service was great! Our server made some great recommendations, and the food and drinks definitely delivered! The only downside was, after we ate, we felt like our waiter was rushing us to clear the table. I would totally get it if there was a huge wait in the lobby or all tables were full... but there were plenty of tables available and no wait. Wouldn't let this discourage me from going back. Went to Voodoo Bayou with a friend to catch up, but definitely plan on returning for their happy hour offerings sometime soon.
This is my second time reviewing VB (although I've been many times), and quite frankly my most disappointing visit. The service was, as usual, amazing. Summer was our server and she was attentive, personable, and was the best part of the experience. I always get the fried green tomatoes with the pork-belly, and it's typically a knock out. This time the pork was not as crispy/tender as it's been in the past and very chewy. The tomato however was cooked perfectly. Now, this chicken and biscuit....3/10. The platter is literally a 4 piece with a biscuit. I was expecting more of an equal portion of each, but that's not the case here. The biscuit was actually pretty good! Served with maple butter and honey. The chicken, however was dry, overcooked, and had way too much breading. It was seasoned breading, but since it was overcooked, you couldn't enjoy it. As for ambiance, literally everyone was celebrating a birthday, so a bit annoying at times, but for the environment still rather easy with some wonderful live music. And the place is just gorgeous. Overall, this place is still not bad. I mean everyone has a swing and a miss now and again. I would not count them out just yet. But will steer clear of the chicken & biscuit situation in future visits.
Went for happy hour and blown away by the menu. Drinks were good! Had one that was sweet and refreshing and another one that was more alcohol forward. We ordered a bunch on th happy hour menu and the ones that stood out to me was the gator nuggets and Rockefeller oysters. So much flavor in the food and the drinks. Will want to visit again when I'm back in Orlando
As soon as I walked in I couldn't stop gawking at everything. The spooky fun ambiance, the lighting sets a mood, the velvet booths, cheetah print chairs, the decorations. I truly fell in love. Our server was the sweetest thing and attentive. We came for brunch BUT I wasn't really impressed with it. Food was lukewarm but I did like the bread that came with my dish. The banana bread pudding sounded so delicious BUT it was rather grainy and the cookies were unbreakable... The beignets were warm and fabulous, so order those!! I got bottomless mimosas and those were nice with juices such as-- pineapple, mango, peach, OJ or strawberry I don't want to never not come back. Because I've heard great things about their dinner AND they got a really cool speakeasy that's Asian fusion
Voodoo Bayou is definitely a vibe. Went for Oyster Wednesday to celebrate a friend's solar return, and honestly got stuck on the oysters because they were that good -- fresh, flavorful, and I couldn't get enough. The service was great -- friendly, attentive, and made the experience even better. I also tried the Vicki Vallencourt (Strawberries, Lemon & Honey) mocktail, which was super delightful and refreshing. There was live music too -- the guy playing was ok, but the oysters and the whole bayou vibe carried the night. Definitely coming back!
Interaction at the hostess stand was exceptional. Checked in for my dinner reservation for 2 people. It was not a problem for staff as I waited for my guest to arrive late. The hostess wasn't sure about a question I posed. Before we were seated she contacted a manager and got back to. The table service was also great. Nice job Kelcy. We enjoyed the BBQ shrimp and the flavorful sauce it was cooked in. The red fish fillet was cooked to perfection in their pizza oven. It doesn't really matter to me anymore but 2 appetizers, 1 entree and 1 draft beer with tax and tip was $109.
Another great meal at Voodoo Bayou. I've been shocked that the last few times we came here for weekend brunch we were able to be seated immediately without a reservation. The Cajun food is amazing and they gave me plenty of champagne for my bottomless mimosas this time. We will miss this restaurant when we move.
Took my work team out to Voodoo Bayou while attending a conference in Orlando recently. I've been here a few times before and the food never disappoints. We ordered a variety of appetizers for the table. The BBQ Shrimp is always one of my go-to favorites, large shrimp served in a tasty New Orleans BBQ sauce with baguette to soak up every bit of that sauce. The Yellowtail Crudo was super fresh and delicious, and you really can't go wrong with any of the oysters. Their drinks are always excellent. For my entree this time I tried the Brick Oven Roasted Chicken based on our waitress's recommendation. I wanted something different than what I've had before, and it was incredible. The chicken was succulent, marinated and served in a bourbon jus and herb butter, complemented with rice and some great smoky collard greens. We finished with the beignets for dessert, and their description of little sweet clouds from heaven isn't a lie. A great meal, great service, a unique and awesome vibe, and even better company.
Wow! Went on a Saturday afternoon in between brunch hours and dinner. Practically had the place to myself. I can only imagine how vibrant it is when filled with customers. It is certainly a feast for the eyes and a lot to take in visually. But the real bang is the food. I ordered simple stuff and they prepared and served it masterfully. Chicken and waffles! Biscuits!! My dad and I stopped here for lunch one day and I quickly realized this is not the kind of space that I would want to sit down and have lunch with my dad as it was more date night coded, and we were there in the middle of the day I didn't realize a place like this existed in Orlando, but I'm excited that I got to experience it. The food was good. The service was good and there was a live band playing at the time the ambience inside of this place is very dark. It made me think of 90s movies and shows like charmed or the craft also probably because one of my cocktails were served in a drink like that the food was good and I would definitely go back again. read more

Was pleasantly surprised with our meal everything was fresh and delicious even the kids Mac and cheese was super creamy which is nice because half the time we order kids anything from restaurants it looks gross. We had a great time and you can tell they care about the quality of food. My only complaint was the service was a bit slow, but it was a Sunday and there was a live band so we didn't mind. read more

I was in the neighborhood and looked up places to eat close by and chose Voodoo Bayou. The venue looked like you were in an episode of Wednesday the Netflix show. It is very dim and dark in a good way. There was a live band playing. It was definitely giving Bayou vibes. The Strawberry Lemonade made me a fan. I had to sip slow to enjoy it. For an appetizer, I ordered BBQ Shrimp. The BBQ Shrimp was a home run. They were a nice size. The sauce was really good. I ended up dipping the toast in it. For the main dish, I ordered Chicken and Biscuit. The Chicken was okay. The Biscuit stole the show. It was thick and still moist. The Biscuit came with honey to pour on it. It was very good. Then I had the Beignets. They were very large but good. Definitely couldn't eat all of those in one sitting. The service was great. The server was very helpful. read more

Luis, incredible service. Truly perfect timing & great recommendations. They know how to fry food here. The ambience, energy & service transport you to a different place. Dark, cool, fun, and visiting in the daytime will surprise you when you exit. Bourbon Maple Syrup on chicken & waffles was fantastic. Chicken Sandwich was very good too. Soft waffles & perfectly cooked waffle fries. They offer monthly memberships, oftly tempting considering so much is happening here. Live music, Roka Hula speakeasy, monthly privileges, etc. read more

Pros: Ambiance is so awesome. It's very dark and gothic inside. There's a crazy huge bar with a library ladder to be able to reach all the bottles. And there's a stage out to the side that probably gets some great shows. Service was great. Our server was really nice and really knowledgeable about the menu. The food was out of this world. Heavily seasoned, not bland at all. The cook on the shrimp was great. They have a pork belly that they use in different ways. And the drinks were all really creative and fun. And they tasted great, too! Cons: I couldn't find a single con. Very good place. Tips: These portions are pretty big, so be prepared for leftovers. I know jambalaya is kind of tired, but not this jambalaya. This was deep with delicious flavors. Get it. They have a couple of nice mocktails. They tasted good. read more

- Food: we ordered an appetizer from the regular menu and entrées from the brunch menu. Yellowtail Crudo: The ratio of shaved fennel, baby cress, and grapefruit to actual yellowtail was like 4 to 1. I really liked the flavor combo of the watercress, fennel, and squid ink tuile, but the grapefruit felt unnecessary. It seemed like it was there to bulk up the plate and pretend it was sashimi under dim lights. Crawfish Benedicts: I wouldn't typically and voluntarily mix seafood, poached eggs, and bread, but I gave it a shot. The hollandaise was rich and flavorful, but had way too much cream. The sauce itself, which had shrimp in it, would've paired better with something lighter, like rice and a salad, in my opinion. The poached eggs were perfect on their own. The hollandaise, though heavy, would have been better on its own. I went with the watermelon salad as a side, which came with shaved mint on top. While the side did not entirely match the flavor profile of my entree, it was good to take a break from the hollandaise with some crispy and juicy watermelon. Avocado Toast: I had a bite, and the mix of avocado, poached eggs, and Cajun hollandaise was just as strange. - Ambiance: stepping in from the bright, 90°F Florida sun into a temperature-controlled, dark, gothic-inspired space was quite the experience. The contrast was dramatic. Think colorful, stained-glass windows like you'd see in a gothic cathedral, dark wood everywhere, plush velvet seating, and purple mood lighting. The atmosphere is fun-spooky, with skulls, roses, jaguar sculptures, crosses, and ornate golden-framed mirrors all around. It's theatrical and over the top in a good way. - Service: our waiter was attentive and didn't disappear once, which isn't as common as it should be these days, so that alone earned points. Two other staff members, who I'm guessing were the manager and the chef, also stopped by to check in on us. I felt kind of important. read more
Came here after a long day at Disney. Hot, tired, sweaty, dehydrated, starving, we needed somewhere to rest our weary heads and indulge on what I have heard was some pretty excellent Cajun cooking. The location is in Dr. Phillips, so I was a little worried at first. This is the land of notoriously overpriced, underwhelming, tourist trap restaurants. Big, flashy, pretty, but not a lot of substance. The dining room itself was so, so cool. It's very dim, your eyes will adjust, there are many cozy booths and a bar the length of the room with so many bottles of booze, there's a whole library ladder to help the bartenders. Service was top notch. I know I always say that, but when I was asking this vs. that for my entree, the server had an intimate knowledge of how each entree was cooked, with what ingredients, and how theirs differs and is better than the competition's. I was taken aback, but it was very appreciated, as the conversation lead me to making the right culinary choices. Before we get to the food, I want to compliment them on their efforts in making a mocktail menu. They don't go as far as experimenting with actual alcohol-free spirits, but they did offer a nice mocktail called the Vicki Vallencourt (Strawberries, Lemon & Honey), which was delicious and refreshing. Huge points earned here. The food was probably the best Cajun food I've had outside of the Florida panhandle. The cuisine just doesn't have a strong presence in Central Florida, for whatever reason, so this place gives me hope. Everything was well-seasoned, constructed well, and presented in a healthy portion that you would expect in actual NOLA. To start off with, we had the Fried Green Tomato (Smoked Pork Belly, Pimento Cheese, Tomato Jam & Frisee). These were cute little things. The pork belly was presented bacon style, very thicc cut and deliciously smokey. Two, thin-cut tomato slices, both fried, really give you an excellent breading-to-tomato ratio. And the sauces add the rest of the punch. Very good app. After much debate, I ended up going with the Jambalaya ((Spicy)) Shrimp, Andouille, Chicken, Okra, White Rice, Peppers, Tomatoes & Tasso) for my entree. I'm so glad I did. Jambalaya usually tamps down the spice flavor for the less tolerant out there, but this one did not hold back. A good, deep, lingering heat that isn't too bad at all. A great amount of protein, okra cooked to perfection, not slimy at all, and well-seasoned rice that held the whole thing together. Best jambalaya I've had in years. I also got to sample the Cajun Carbonara (Rigatoni, Smoked Pork Belly, Poached Egg, Shaved Parmesan & Peas, added shrimp). Very good. Noodles cooked well, with a soft bite to them. The same smoked pork belly from the app, cooked and presented in a different way. A perfectly poached egg to add even more ooey gooiness. There is no relief in this dish. Be aware. For dessert, we got a Croissant Bread Pudding (Brown Butter, Valrona White Chocolate, Bourbon Caramel, Candied Pecans & Vanilla Creme Chantilly). Very delicious. Perfectly soaked croissant, brown buttery, an excellent caramel, the pecans for texture, and that soft, delicate Chantilly cream to cut through all the richness. Lovely. Overall, this was a surprisingly excellent Cajun dinner that I was not expecting in this part of Orlando. This is the kind of place I wish I could give six stars, because it's just so much better than most other five star places. It's great. Just come. read more
Service was amazing, at least 2 servers and 3 managers checked up on us. The waiter was great and the ambience of the place is fun and different. The best dish of the night was the cornbread which was some of the best cornbread and molasses butter flavor. The wood fire oysters were delicious!!! The BBQ shrimp was actually just OK. In NOLA BBQ shrimp is my favorite but was the miss step here. The chicken sandwich was just ok, and I thought the actual chicken was too thin and pounded out losing any juiciness to it and to make the entrée worse, the fries were pretty bad . Surprised to say though they exceeded so highly with the uniqueness and the service that even knowing some of the dishes were not so great I still can give them a 5 star! read more

Overall, a great time. We came in to celebrate my birthday on a friends suggestion, and it did not disappoint. Assorted choices for dinner but after trying each one can say everything was delicious. I personally had the Shrimp and Crawfish Etouffee and it was delicious. Jordan was our server and she was absolutely wonderful - from the recommendations to general conversation and service it was great. This place is also about the vibes - loved the look and feel overall and it's like being transported out of Orlando. Absolutely recommend stopping in! read more

Everything was absolutely amazing, zero complaints! From the food to the service, everything exceeded my expectations. And whatever you do, don't leave without grabbing some extra beignets to go, they're that good! I already can't wait to come back and will definitely be visiting many more times. Stopped by for a night cap after dinner -- and the smoked old fashioned, the lavender fizz cocktails, and the dark, speakeasy vibes were just what the doctor ordered. I truly wish I had saved room for dessert because those beignets were calling my name and I wasn't physically able to answer. 1 round of drinks was all we have left to give, but thoroughly enjoyed it. Tried their happy hour for the first time last week and it was amazing! First of all, the minute you walk in, everything from the decor and lighting to the ambiance was really impressive. The HH menu is also great. There is a variety of food items and a really good drink selection available. For our drinks, we had margaritas. The spicy margarita is really spicy, so be careful if you decide to order it. There's even a disclaimer that they will not refund you if you change your mind! For appetizers, we had the deviled eggs, oysters Rockefeller, smoked wings and pear salad. Everything was delicious. There is a minimum order of 3 for the oysters and wings, but pricing is very reasonable. Staff is very friendly and attentive always asking if we needed anything else. There was a live band while we were there so it can get a little loud. Overall, the vibe was really great and I know we will definitely be back. Maybe we'll even check out the speakeasy behind the big chair next time! read more

All I can say is, the food want on point for the Cajun seasoning on the Gumbo Ya Ya and Shakey's Gator Tail. The gator wasn't gamey at all. I wish I could have ordered more since it was so good. The sweet tea wasn't really considered sweet enough for my liking but it was ok. read more
Came for happy hour -- very crowded. Grabbed the last two seats at the bar. Happy hour menu only available at bar and high tops, which was odd. We had a reservation, but waited at the bar until friends arrived. Bartender took our order - Old Sailman Cocktail (similar to a spicy margarita), a margarita, deviled eggs (with truffle and caviar), and cup of gumbo. Drinks were made right in front of us and served quickly. Lots of ice in both drinks, but Margarita was good. The other cocktail was okay. Eggs and gumbo brought out quickly, and were both really good. The gumbo was flavorful. Everyone enjoyed the entrees once we sat for dinner. Jambalaya as served in a lidded stoneware pot. Okra was not soft, which was disappointing, but didn't kill the dish, since there only a few pieces of okra. Cornbread was a hit. read more

We loved this place! The vibes are amazing, the live music is always fun and the food is incredible. The southern LA soul food is authentic and filling. I love to take people here and have them be impressed with the service and food they receive. We also love the speak easy but that is it's own review , haha. I definitely would come back here often and hopefully will be visiting again soon. read more

Amazing quality food and beverages that are really worth it. Including a lot of options, we had the half dozen oysters, and the devilled eggs. Both came out amazing, the oysters were massive and the eggs were very creamy. Our server Jennifer was fantastic, she was very attentive and friendly. And of course the Ambiance is like going into a vampires speakeasy on bourbon street. Can't wait to come back here! read more
Went to Voodoo for lunch and made a reservation. It was not very busy for a Saturday lunch and since it was the day after Halloween it felt fitting to go there. The server was great and attentive and the food was very good. We had cornbread, fried tomatoes, and I got the chicken sandwich with a craft beer. Everything was very good but nothing over the top exciting. They do have a speakeasy and the hidden wall that turns is the coolest part of the whole place. read more

I came here with a friend to celebrate my birthday. I made reservations on open table easily. There is complimentary valet parking directly in front of the restaurant which is nice because the parking lot has multiple businesses so at certain times the parking is a challenge. The ambience and music is great and the food and drinks were 10/10. We ordered oysters and cornbread, chicken and biscuits and shrimp with gumbo. I was impressed with the extensive drink menu and their giant selection of alcohol. The bar has a sliding ladder like a beauty and the beast library to access all of the bottles! After dinner we sat in the revolving chairs and checked out the speakeasy Roka Hula. We had a glass of wine there and the service and ambience was amazing. I recommend this place ! read more
BEST DISCOVERY IN FLORIDA!! My friends and I came to Voodoo Bayou for Happy Hour before dinner and it was without a doubt the best thing we experienced while in Orlando. We had all been to New Orleans, but we actually felt that Voodoo Bayou was even better than what we experienced in NOLA. You can tell that there was so much thought and details that went into the execution of this New Orleans-inspired restaurant and bar. The ambiance is dark and dim lit with gothic décor. Upon walking in there are these 2 throne-like chairs with a flower backdrop, great for photo taking. HAPPY HOUR is at the bar only - Mon to Fri from 4-7pm and Mon to Thurs from 10pm-close. We were lucky to seize the perfect amount of seats for our group along the bar. Selected cocktails were on HH for $7/each. We started off with a round of Snake Oil Salesman and also did a round of Happy Hour Margaritas. Both were really tastyyyyy. I would have ordered more if we didn't have to head over to dinner. Most importantly they have OYSTERS on happy hour. My friends and I LOVE oysters. The pricing here is incredible compared to what I have to deal with back home in California. The Raw Oysters were $1.50/each and the Wood-Fired Oysters were $2.25/each. Between the three of us who shared, we got a dozen of each. For the wood fire oysters they had a chili butter and a rockefeller so we went half half. The raw oysters were so fresh and delicious. The baked oysters came with toasted slices of bread to soak up the sauces. Both were amazing in their own way and I could have honestly eaten a dozen of each by myself if we didn't have dinner plans shortly after. My FAVORITE stop in Orlando. This beats out Disney World for me. These oysters are my happiest place on earth. Calling all of the oyster lovers out there, this place is for you! read more

Went there for the first time last night and from the second you walk in, the entire place is such a vibe! The restaurant is so beautiful and detailed! Dining room is a nice size and there's a stage towards the back for the band which they told me they have on Fridays and during brunch I believe on Sundays. The food was fantastic! Very flavorful and portions were great! Highly recommend the cornbread! Simple yet the best thing I had! Jambalaya was very good, very filling! The entire staff was nice and friendly. A+ for the experience What A couple of friends and I went and got a number of items to try. It definitely was a good experience which made everything tastier...? We got a 2 rolls, a couple of drinks and more appetizers,. The only incident I remember is that the edamame was cooked in butter and has cheese, cause I am avoiding dairy so I was able to spot the cheese to remove but didn't realize that they butter up the edamame... Environment Speak easy! Very fun entrance, but could get tiring. Needs reservations though. Ill keep how to enter up to your guessing Niceness of the staff I am a little disappointed that when mentioning to remove the cheese on the edamame they didn't realize that they needed to also remove the butter on it.. but they were able to take care of this quickly, just would've hoped this was done on the first go. I wish that the menu has more dietary indicators i.e dairy call outs especially. Dollar it was quite expensive, good for the experience Yes I would go again for the experience. read more

I love this place! The parking is a nightmare though keep in mind, also if you're trying to go to the speakeasy you've seen on Instagram, it is here, inside this restaurant but you have to make a reservation and I'm not sure kids are allowed in the speakeasy portion - you'd have to double check,. Anyways! It is a very loud restaurant here but it's fun and there's live music. The food is very good. It's not quite 100% New Orleans but it's insanely close and it's good! The drinks are fun and good as well. It's just a a very busy loud restaurant but good! Our server was great . Dined in on a Monday night for a birthday dinner. Vibes were immaculate, customer service was amazing, food was 10/10. We arrived early before we were able to be seated so the host said we can go to either the speakeasy bar or the other main bar to have a drink and wait. We went to the speakeasy bar and it was so cute I love the way it's set up and the bartenders were super attentive and quick to get to us. The speakeasy has a different set menus with sushi and nigiri, the drinks were really good as well. When we were sat for dinner we had the stuffed Mac n cheese, the small portion of the gumbo and the fried chicken sandwich. The Mac n cheese was amazing, really really good and would get again. The gumbo had a kick, amazing flavor! It was very smooth and hearty. The chicken sandwich was good but I could go without it, there's other stuff in the menu that will probably be better but the fries and the aioli were really good. I'm really impressed too how they were super attentive and accommodating to the birthday girl we ended up moving the tables a a way we felt was better and they did it no questions asked. My wife and I came to Roka Hulu, the speakeasy inside of Voodoo Bayou, after dinner. They have a food menu, it looked like sushi/Asian, but we were stuffed and didn't try any, although the menu looked good. We came for one drink, figured we'd check it out while we were here. It had a very unique vibe and decor, very swanky, but we liked it. The bar tender was very friendly and our drinks were good, but our favorite part was the way you entered the speakeasy. You sat in these chairs, rubbed the ceramic cheetahs head and then the wall rotated. It was pretty cool. I have never experienced anything like it! We would definitely come back here to try more off of the menu! read more

I've been wanting to check this place out for a while now, and it did not disappoint! The ambiance was so unique and moody, we loved it! Our server was super attentive and knowledgeable. The cocktails were both pretty and tasty. Food was very good, lots of options! Would definitely recommend the fried green tomatoes to start. My husband loved his chicken and waffles. Amazing dessert options as well. We would come back here, and you definitely need to check out the speakeasy too! read more
What a cool establishment! They have don't a great job decorating the place with the gothic theme without it feeling "satanic". I almost felt out of place since I didn't wear black. Even with the theme, we were comfortable with our young daughter there on a Friday night. We were seated quickly (5min wait) for a party of three. I had two drinks that were both great. The prices are a bit high but that is becoming standard with inflation in the big metros. I especially enjoyed the voodoo child, it has a picture of Jimmy Hendrix floating in the foam! For food I went with the Jambalaya. It was honestly one of the best jambalayas I've had in a restaurant. So tasty and properly spicy, highly recommend. There was also a live band performing. This made the atmosphere a bit loud but it was fun. If you have time, check out the speakeasy. It is beautifully decorated! Very Yelp and IG worthy. We didn't have time as it was late, but we did take a peek inside. We will have to come back! read more
