I have been craving the Homer donut ever since trying it in Colorado. So happy this place opened here. Beats out the pink Dublin donut by far. The mango coconut donut was also delicious. I read some reviews on here and I was surprised because I heard a lot of good things about Voodoo but some of the reviews were very negative. Some people said the donuts were mediocre which after trying the donuts I really don't understand how you can come up with that word. What do you call these donuts from 7/11 or from Dunkin? The apple fritter is the best I have tasted in a long time. It was incredibly sweet, cinnamony, very moist and just melts in your mouth effortlessly and somehow it's not too sweet that your teeth will fall off. We were visiting in town, and this place just opened recently. We did not have too much of a weight and as soon as you walk in the presentation and display is incredible. We ordered a dozen donuts, including the cock and ball (huge... think Boston Cream). Overall, the donuts were very good. They are quite pricey, and a few of them just tasted more like sugar than actual flavor i.e. bubblegum. I've been to the original location in Portland, OR so I'm familiar with Voodoo Doughnut. The new West Loop location is similar. Donuts are fun, but are way too overly sweet and quality, texture and tastes of the actual donut is on par with Dunkin. There is nothing special here other than the atmosphere and fun donut shapes. Thee service was fine. The cashier was friendly and I received my donut quickly. If want to spend $5.00 on one donut you and get your money's worth, you should patronize a high quality, local donut shop like Do rite Donuts, Fire Cakes or Doughnut vault. Had a great experience here! Went on a Friday night around 11pm and the place was pretty busy. The line went pretty fast, though, and we got our donuts in no time! Oh the hype that preceded this brand location was no doubt to be it's same undoing. The expectations were just too high. My oldest was recently in Portland and I recommended they hit the old town location while there because I had heard so many good things about it. Glad I did. The worker who helped us said he was there at 4am opening day and there was already a line around the block! We were in Fulton as a group shortly after the new year so decided now was the time. We stopped in and selected about a half dozen doughnuts. I was most excited about the maple bacon long john because I have a hard time finding a decent one most times anymore. Sad to report that the Voodoo one is just OK which means it's not worth the drive for me. In fact, out of the half dozen doughnuts we did get, the only one that was an interesting stand out was the pop tart doughnut. There was barely any wait when we dropped in, although there were others doing the same as us. Doughnuts are like gumbo, no two are alike, so check them out, who knows, they may be your jam. I've been meaning to swing by here, but initially it was a mad rush and then I haven't had the chance. I had dinner nearby and stopped by. The line was just a normal line, so that was cool. So far, I have tasted the glazed, Portland cream, and Snickers (which I forget the official name). The glazed was really good. Portland is just really a Boston Cream, which was pretty good. The Snickers one was... Probably not my fave. I think the toppings are a bit dried out and fall off the donut if you try to cut a small piece. I assume they're just not fresh? The donuts are also less sweet than I'm used to, which was actually a good thing. It was like $12 for 4 donuts. Will taste the chocolate tomorrow. How they don't completely dry out overnight. I think simpler flavors are better at most of these places, or you just get lost in overwhelming flavor. Like... The simple glazed was the best one so far. Followed by the Portland cream. Interesting flavor options! The voodoo doll was delicious, definitely my favorite. The mango tango was also really good but flavor tasted a bit fake, not super fresh but it was a nice wake up call in the dead of winter. Both of those had filling, but it only took up half of the donut. All the donuts were really big and super soft. We ordered online, but when we went to pick it up they packaged it fresh.
