Long time customer calling it quits. I found an obscure niche with this place long before COVID with the happy hour margarita with queso and/or the blackened chicken nachos. I have always believed the tacos were interesting, but carried probably the worst value in town for any food at any restaurant. I've also experienced some extremely awkward service in this place, long before COVID struck. I'm going to be pretty forgiving because of COVID. I'm fine with the fact the nachos I once loved have been different every time I've been in here for the last 6 months. (Although tonight they were so salty I almost didn't eat them.) BUT there are things which have nothing to do with COVID related business difficulties that are horribly out of place. The nice young man taking orders, for the second time I've seen him, is wearing his mask down under his nose. And tonight I just learned they have done away with the $4 margarita happy hour, and happy hour altogether, even though it's still on the menu. This was actually the only thing that kept me coming in long before COVID. That's the tipping point for me. Before this place was a guilty drunken pleasure on a Friday afternoon. Chose a bad day to visit. Their POS system was down and their security alarm was going off and no one on the staff could fix either. Tried the lunch special with 2 pork carnitas tacos and pinwheels as the side. Added chips & queso. The service was fast and friendly. The carnitas where so-so, I expected more flavor based on the other reviews I read. The pinheads were delicious. The queso & chips were ok, queso wasn't very warm. Waited 55 minutes for two taco bowls. I lost count of the number of guests that arrived after us but received their food before us. After 35 minutes the cashier asked me what I ordered. I foolishly thought she realized I had been waiting for an unreasonably long time and would expedite my order. At a point I disregard my own wait and felt awful for the other guests. I'd like to think the understaffing was the result of a couple of employees calling off but I'm not so sure. Apparently management does not adhere to the guidelines regarding COVID-19 infections. None of the staff that were either preparing the food or serving the food were wearing masks. The person preparing drinks had neither mask nor gloves and did not wash her hands between clients. It is hard to believe their food preparation is any more hygienic during non-COVID-19 periods. Charles is amazing!! The food was really good, but with the personality of Charles that greets you, what more could you want. Wish we had a Voodoo taco in Alabama but only if you have someone like Charles running it!! The truth is, you can eat anywhere, but if you feel welcomed the way Charles welcomes people, you want to return over and over again. My thought, he needs to be the face of Voodoo taco. Delicious! Great atmosphere, very open. Multiple TVs hanging low to make it easy to view. Very rustic/modern atmosphere. Menu is diverse but simple. Staff is friendly. Drink options are plentiful. I had them cater an event and it did not go well at all. They were an hour late from when we agreed to meet and it took me 20 more minutes to reach them via phone. They overcharged compared to what we agreed upon. I knew it was sketchy when they refused to negotiate pricing over email so it was written down. We told them we were feeding 55 people and they brought enough food to feed 80 which is great and all except for the fact that we had way too much food left over and had nothing to do with it. This was also for a sorority event and there were some uncomfortable and inappropriate comments made on the phone and while setting up. The food was good but it didn't feel like they had ever catered an event before based on proportions. Overcharged. Underprepared. Rude. This is my second time to voodoo taco. I went to the one at Nebraska crossing outlets forever ago. Needless to say, I loved it. I got a free chips and queso for attending the Pokemon go event. I also got 2 bacon breakfast tacos. I withheld the salsa but they were still delicious. I'd definitely come back. I also think it is awesome how they are doing an event to bring the community together! They're packed and doing great with orders and helping people out. Try this place you'll love it. read more

Once again I find myself singing the praises of Voo Doo Taco and Door Dash. A friend & I decided to have a virtual dinner together via Zoom to catch up with each other and support local restaurants. She picked up a sandwich from Jersey Mike's, which she has enjoyed before. I ordered a barbacoa salad from VooDoo, plus chips with guacamole and beignets. My dinner was delivered at the promised time. We got our computers going & started yaking. When my friend asked me what I was eating, I realized it was not the salad I ordered but in fact one of three barbacoa tacos. My favorite taco at Voo Doo, but not what I ordered since I was thinking veggies. I checked later to see if I clicked on the wrong item, but I had not. I wonder if someone else got my salad. The guac & chips are generously portioned. With 1 taco left plus guacamole with chips and a second container of what may have been beignets, I'll have a great lunch tomorrow. I'm still not sure if my desert was beignets or cheesecake tacos. It didn't really matter to me because it all tasted delicious. read more

I would rate this establishment as a 3.5 Star. The flavors were abstract and interesting! It was nice to change up a typical taco. However, I cannot fathom spending $5 for a small taco. I ordered two. One Barbacoa and one ghost pepper pork. I was still hungry later after my little snack. They didn't have regular pop products either. Again, interesting flavors. This isn't it. After looking at the photos on yelp, I was pretty excited to try this place out. The tacos looked unique and full of meat, so I ignored the hefty price tag for one taco. The cashier was cool to chat with, and I was excited to take my food home But the food sucks. The first thing I noticed was that my tacos were 70% tortilla. They didn't look as voluminous as the photos on here! Second, both meats I had were incredibly bland. Maybe all of the yelp reviews are great because they mask their lack of meat and flavor with all of the dairy? I'd like to consider myself open minded when it comes to different variations of food, especially tacos. Cool spot near hotel. Parking was tough because of a local event going on. Ordered a shrimp taco and grilled chicken nachos to go. Shrimp taco was not my fave or even good for that matter. Hard to pinpoint what it was but something was def off. Now, the nachos were phenomenal. I enjoyed them thoroughly. I modified them to chicken, cheese, and beans. Loved them. Which leads me to not receiving any eating utensils even though this was a to go order. It also would have been nice to get some sort of salsa in general. I also ordered the beignets and chocolate. Thoroughly enjoyed. I'd also like to note that I used the online ordering system. Very simple and straightforward. Food was ready when I arrived. Very decently priced. Voodoo Taco looked so promising. A creative menu full of tacos and other delights? GATOR TACOS? I was so excited to sample their wares. I went on a slow weekday afternoon with some friends. Decor is nice, there's a good bit of hipster ambiance as well. I got the gator nachos and avocado tacos. The nachos were too salty and burnt in spots. The gator was not strips of the meat like I assumed, but actually processed as sausage. Which was weird, because sausage like meat on nachos isn't very good. So the nachos were a bust. The avocado tacos seemed like a fool proof choice..but it wa a a bad decision. They bread and deep fry the avocado, similar to tempenyaki. They also added shredded carrot to the taco as a topping which, like, I get since it's an avocado taco..but it was disgusting. Prices suck, too. Tacos are $3 a piece or more, depending of what you choose. Just kind of a meh experience, I haven't been back since I went the first time and it's just not something i even consider when I am in the mood for tacos. read more

The food is usually good but this time was completely awful. I ordered five steak fajita tacos. I believe they used barbacoa beef on my taco instead of steak. I'm not really sure. I don't know if they changed their meat or what but the meat tasted awful and the texture was different. I'm not sure what happened but I'm very disappointed because I just wasted a little over $20 for these horrible tacos. I absolutelt love Voodoo Taco. I am a Chipotle fan, and won't eat there now because of this resturant. I love the barbacoa taco. It is the best barbacoa I have ever had! It is tender, has a nice vinegar flavor, and is fresh. It also has a mountain of creamy cheese and onion straws. The only thing I dislike about this taco is the onion straws. The chips and queso is delicious. I always order it when I go. Also, they have alcohol which is nice! This is my favorite taco place in Omaha, and I'm not sure if anywhere else can beat it. read more

I love the variety of tacos at Voodoo. Their quac is great. But the Pinheads (fried corn) are absolute crack! I'm a little bit addicted. Mostly the staff are friendly. The tables are always clean. I came in to just ordered carry out but I got so much more. The staff is so kind and fun they talked to me and got to know me (socially distanced of course) while I waited on my order they even threw in an extra strawberry sauce in with my beignets, beignets that would give Tiana from the princess and the frog a run for her money. I recommend the pork carnitas and to hang out a while inside if you can, the staff is warm and welcoming and the food is absolutely killer, it certainly made me the most liked person at the socially distanced picnic!! read more

Stopped in because their sign caught our attention, VOODOO TACO !!! I had the steak bowl and my wife had the barbacoa taco and the chicken fajita taco. She enjoyed her tacos, I tried them and they were ok. They were different, after all this place is Tex Mex ( wish I had read reviews before we stopped in) the tortillas were cold, my bowl was mediocre. I tried the rice and it was horrible. Beans were ok and they only gave me 2 tortillas that were cold. The one thing that was pretty amazing was the fried corn. Pretty innovative for a Tex Mex place. It made me nervous that I couldn't see my food because of their dim lighting. The bathroom was pretty gross over all cleanliness was not good. The cashier was nice and helpful, but he was the only one up front with a line to the door. I'm pretty sure the bigger lady not dressed in the uniform was the manager and she was not doing much as far as I could tell. Also if you are a manager of a restaurant, shouldn't you care what you look like and not show up in leggings and a sloppy top?Anyway I went to get a drink and I noticed the beverage area was dirty with spills and trash. Had a hard time finding a table that was wiped off. They bring the food to your table, I got the Baja shrimp taco and the special of the month the sweet pepper chicken. The shrimp was cold and gross. Probably fried earlier, and the special was just okay. Not a lot of flavor. The problem is they have this super nice place with just okay food and a sucky manager, which affects the team. Pretty good tacos, from TX so might be a little biased, little much on the cheese but the meats were good! Had the ghost pork & gator tacos.. overall a decent place for tacos but a little pricey (~$4/each) for a lot of cheese. Just giving 2 stars because the food does taste good. However the portions are so tiny and they are quite pricey. Been a few times and always feel let down. Save your money and find an authentic Mexican food truck in the city. The food is great, but the operation is kind of a disaster. If you don't mind waiting in line, it's a great place to eat. They never opened the second register, which turned a small line into a long wait. Voodoo taco is a bit expensive but very unique in terms of flavor combinations. I particularly like fried avocado. But I've had about five of the different was in they're all very tasty. One place they could use a lot of improvement is coordinating take out orders. They were at least 20 minutes late getting mine together. That's pretty much unacceptable. Also it seems like you need to stand in the long queue line to pick up your take-out order. I didn't do that and just went to the bar... because there was no way in hell I was going to stand in that line. But there's nothing that guides you to bypass the line. read more
