I ended up dipping my fries in it, and it was so good that I'd gladly order it again. It was easily one of the most memorable parts of the meal. What truly elevated the experience was the service. The coconut rice and peas that went along with it was also dry, without coconut taste, and missed the mark for us. We are Caribbean and this was a disappointment to experience. The description on the page oversold it just a bit. We were able to call the manager, and they removed the chicken dish from our bill and took half of the final price of the short rib from our bill as well, and that was appreciated! Looking around the restaurant, it seemed like everyone was enjoying their meal, though we could never know what conversations were being had at those tables, and it just seems like this restaurant was not for us personally! I LOVE The Vortex and my entire experience was ruined by an asshole parking lot attendant. Go to the one on Peachtree St in midtown. We pulled into the lot and asked to park, the jerk said $7 and vortex is free so we said ok and asked could we follow some people that were leaving Vortex for their spot and he brushed is off because we weren't paying him so fuck us, right? We got the parking space from the guest leaving Vortex and went to go inside the restaurant when the jerk yelled that we owe him seven bucks and we couldn't understand why. WE GAVE HIM THE MONEY ANYWAY and he kept being so rude to us. At this point we're irritated and asking what his problem is because we didn't know we weren't in the vortex lot, once we were made aware of it we PAID and he responded by telling us to shut up and we can just leave if we don't like it. He had some guy come act like his manager and then tell us he didn't want to hear our complaints because he personally knows the jerk and wouldn't hear a bad word about him because he knows his job is stressful so he has the right to be rude to rude people. His exact words. We were so pissed off by the ASSHOLE parking attendant and his "manager" (or friend who he asked to pretend to be his boss) that we didn't even want to eat at this location. That sucks considering I brought friends from out of town to eat at Vortex because it's amazing. The restaurant has a tell it how it is philosophy but the parking lot ASSHOLE should learn about customer service and not tell people to SHUT UP amongst other rude things because he can. We all are accountable for our actions and he should be too. He should be fired and not at all even closely associated with the Vortex. The "boss" said he can understand why his employee would be rude to us considering throughout the day people (random other people) are rude to him but, WHAT? You can't run a business being rude to people because you're having a bad day. Imagine if all companies allowed their employees to act like that! Walking into The Vortex in Little Five Points, Atlanta, you're immediately struck by its unique vibe. The place has a nice, cozy atmosphere, with an edge that makes it stand out from your typical burger joint. It's not over the top, but there's something undeniably appealing about the eclectic decor and the bustling energy of the place. Despite being packed, it feels comfortable, like you're part of the in-crowd just by being there. The customer service was solid, friendly, and attentive, even though it took a while to get our checks. I could see the staff was stretched thin, juggling a big crowd with a smile and doing their best. It didn't dampen the experience, though--it was clear that everyone was there to have a good time. Now, onto the main event: the food. I went for the Zombie Apocalypse Burger with a side of tater tots, and let me tell you, this burger is not for the faint of heart. Cooked to a perfect medium, the patty was juicy and flavorful, exactly how a burger should be. But the real stars of the show were the toppings: a perfectly cooked egg and some seriously amazing pulled pork. Last night, I finally decided to check out The Vortex in Little Five Points, a staple in Atlanta known for its burgers and eclectic atmosphere. I was in the mood for a good mushroom and Swiss burger, and I'm happy to say they delivered! The menu had a variety of options, and I loved that I could customize my burger to my preferred temperature. My mushroom and Swiss burger was cooked perfectly and full of flavor. At $13, it was reasonably priced, and the portion size was spot-on. I also appreciated the variety of sides to choose from--I went with [insert side you chose], which complemented my burger nicely. Our server, Aaliyah, was attentive and friendly, making the experience even better. The vibe of the place was fun and unique, exactly what I had hoped for. I am really surprised that I haven't written a review for this place before now. This is an Atlanta institution, whenever someone says "I went to the Vortex", that's usually followed by the comment "isn't that the place with the skull?". Why yes, yes, it is. Parking is easy and for now, they have dine-in service. Came here with my girlfriend and remembered why we don't come here often. It's as loud as all outdoors! But I don't mind that sometimes. Got the burger because that's what they are known for and started with the tomato soup. Surprisingly the tomato soup was way better than the burger but the burger didn't trail too far behind. Let's be honest. The Vortex doesn't have good food at all. What the Vortex has is a really hip location with a clientele of people who want to smoke and curse will eating mediocre food. If you're interested in wasting your time and money on getting the full Atlanta experience--give it a try for yourself, but you'll leave uninspired and probably coughing. Oh--and if you read through the incredibly antagonizing menu that has more rules (ironic in a place that is suppose to be so anti-"The Man") you'll notice that they will not separate your check unless you ask the second you sit down. Bizarre. Brilliant. Burgers. Don't be intimidated by the massive skull surrounding the front door (you enter safely through the mouth). This restaurant is consistently satisfying. The Vortex presents an impressively creative list of burgers, such as "the Choker" (juicy beef with artichoke) or "the Coronary Bypass" (tender beef with an egg, cheese, and bacon). I promise, your waiter is not trying to harm you. While the burgers are infamous, the appetizers and veggie sandwiches should not be overlooked. ok so I know everybody fucking loves this place and they have huge hamburgers and all that but really its just a big chilli's in little fucking five points. I mean just because our fucking waiter had a nose ring did it mean it was a fucking "experience". I could have just gotten the same fucking bacon cheese burger at Applebees and it probably would have been cheaper. Say open till 12 we got turned away around 11:10. I've posted five reviews on here and I've worked in the restaurant industry for 10+ years so trust me I am not gonna just write something bad. We walked in and stood at the door for about 5 minutes until we were rudely told service was done and drinks were last call in ten minutes. The restaurant was about half full so I am a little confused. I will say we didn't eat the food but have a little tact and greet someone when they get to the door. All in all.... The Vortex serves GREAT food, specifically burgers. However, this location (in comparison to the P'tree location) is ehhhhh, not so great. In this location, you feel cramped and can barely move or walk to the restroom. The staff at this location is not as courteous as the P'tree location. For example) They are slow and run around like chicken with their heads cut off. During one visit, our waitress complained, cursed, and vented to us about another table that was getting on her nerves. For a delicious burger I suggest the Elvis burger. It comes with fried bananas, bacon, and peanut butter. Its honestly what got me hooked on burgers with peanut butter. The wait can be overwhelming but if you catch it on a good week day, the wait does not take long. I have not ordered beers yet but I am sure they are tasty. The waitresses can come off intimidating though with the I dont give a crap attitude but still prompt on getting everything out on time. I recently tried out the Vortex Bar & Grill in Atlanta and I must say it exceeded my expectations! The exterior of the building was intriguing, so I decided to venture inside for a bite to eat. I ordered their cheeseburger and fries which were delicious. It might have been better if I had ordered my burger medium instead of medium rare as it lacked that char-grilled flavor, but overall I was pleased with my meal. I just love this place! I really want to give it 5 stars, but sometimes the place is so dang crowded and noisy and wait times for a seat can be a bit extreme. Other than that, it's a lot of fun and the food is TO DIE FOR! The Yamaha burger is my absolute fave. The menu is hilarious and there is one bartender (don't know his name sorry) who is totally cool and really funny. Great service. I just wish it was a tad less crowded, but it isn't their fault! Vortex Burgers are one of the best burgers you can get in Atlanta. The burger is big and comes with fresh crispy toppings. It never really blows me away, but it's fun to take friends from out of town to, or just on a quiet night. I try to avoid this spot on the weekends though, because the crowds can be a bit much. However I was taken a back that they were having casual conversation with the cashier even though they saw us standing there. I asked the cashier about specials and he told me they didn't offer specials although on the wall, there are some specials listed. He then tells me he is somewhat new. Order our food, take a seat, food is brought to us and it's a decent burger. However there are no condiments on the table and no one who works there in sight. Slowly but surely, we can see that the establishment is closing and we are trying to wrap it up. I know that the folks I was with will be back as they loved it, for me, it was okay, but not something I'm running back to.

They have two bars, one downstairs which includes the dining area & then there is one upstairs that is more for socializing. The upstairs has a pool table for your enjoyment and a beer claw machine! First time seeing one! They have drink specials and I indulged in the blackberry margarita. The staff was very nice and knowledgeable on the items they offered. There is complimentary street parking but if you can't find any there is paid parking lots as well. I don't know the cost as I was lucky enough to find street parking.
