Burger was really gristly, I don't think I've ever had so much gristle in a burger before - every single bite had big chunks of gristle. It was pretty unappetizing. This place has the most wonderful staff ever! It is a spunky, unique, and fun restaurant with so many great food options. I got the Alpine Steak House burger and it was amazing. It came with a few options for sides, and naturally, I chose the tater tots, and it was the best decision ever. They were soo crispy and delicious. The parking is shared with a few other establishments, and they may or may not charge depending on what day of the week it is. Venue and Atmosphere It's everything Little 5 should be, dicey, hole in the wall, punk, grunge, whatever you want to call it. It ain't fancy in here, but the bathrooms are clean and the dress code is come as you are. Food and Beverages Ive had the nachos reuben, and funnel cake fries. They're known for the burgers, but I'm not a burger fiend. The reuben was tasty and the funnel cake fries hit the spot. Their chili was decent but I've had better. The potato salad is mayo based, but I like to add mustard because I like it southern style. Their drinks are strong and flavorful, and the staff will gladly give recommendations. On this particular Saturday, the place was packed, but the wait to be seated was surprisingly short--about 10 minutes. The Vortex has a vintage bar aesthetic that I thoroughly enjoy. The ambiance is lively and unique, making it a fun place to dine. Our server, a polite young lady named Cam, was attentive, humorous, and made us feel very welcome. For starters, my friends and I shared some tater tots ($3.75). They were perfectly crunchy, golden, and delicious--an excellent start to our meal. Along with my tater tots, I had the Blozzeberry Cocktail ($8) which is Stoli Blueberi Vodka, Deep Eddy Sweet Tea Vodka & pink lemonade. For my main course, I opted for the Hells Fury Burger with tater tots ($11.95). This burger comes with pepper jack cheese, atomic death sauce, habanero relish, and a roasted jalapeño pepper. According to The Vortex, it's "not for sissies." When Cam brought our food, everything was fresh from the kitchen and piping hot. The tater tots were just as tasty as they were when we had them as an appetizer. But the real highlight was the burger. The Hells Fury Burger is definitely not for the faint of heart. The first bite delivers an intense burst of heat, thanks to the atomic death sauce and habanero relish. This is one of the coolest places to come eat at while in Atlanta. I loved the interior from not only the outside of the restaurant with the gigantic skull, but the inside as well. We ended up sitting ourselves which we found a booth to sit at. Our waitress got our drinks order. One of the adult beverage called the Skull Crusher my boyfriend got didn't seem to have much alcohol which I can agree. He ordered another drink which was much better. There burgers are off the chain which my boyfriend had the Hell's Fury burger and I had the Rebel Outlaw burger. Just to let you know, the Hell's Fury burger is not for the faint of heart. I don't know how he ate that because I tried one bite and it had my mouth on fire. My burger on the other hand was awesome which I forgot to mention that both of our burgers were big. What a fall from grace... I used to tell everyone I knew the best burgers in the entire USA are in Atlanta, a dive joint called the Vortex. Coming back 18 years later, I realized I had terrible and low standards. It was truly terrible. The food and service was horrible. The waiter couldn't give a damn about us finishing our sentences or orders... And yes I read the "rules" let a manager know... How can you communicate if mate/buddy doesn't want to listen? I absolutely LOVE the atmosphere and decor of this place. There is always something new to see. When we got there, there was no line but I can definitely tell this place gets busy! The server and staff in general were super friendly and informative. My husband got the 'GRILLED CHEESY MOFO' which was Pepper jack, provolone, cheddar and applewood smoked bacon on butter-griddled, parmesan encrusted sourdough. He absolutely loved it. I ordered the 'KA'MANA WA'NA LEI'YA' which was chipotle cream cheese, 3 slices of bacon and spicy pineapple jalapeño jelly on Texas toast and again, absolutely delicious. They were just the right portion and also instead of fries, I got the Loaded potato salad which was delicious as well. There were no free spots so I had to pay $20 to park. I went around probably 2 pm and it was still very crowded so I sat at the bar. The bartender that took my order wasn't very friendly at first but he was also very busy and when I told him my soda tasted flat, he didn't charge me for it. I order the grilled cheese with tater tots, which were pretty good. The cheese wasn't fully melted on the sandwich and I added salt and pepper to the tots, but still pretty decent overall. The music was not my style at all. I was warned that it was a little grungy and that they have good burgers but I wasn't super hungry. I think if I were to go back, I'd find other parking, wait for someone to leave the free spot section, or plan to walk around little 5 points more to make it worth the price of parking. read more

After a massive beer, I wondered what that weird purple drink was and I found out. The Skullcrusher is a lot of booze and we sat next to a 300 pound guy who drank three of them. One was plenty for me as my research reveals that it's at least tequila, vodka, rum, bourbon and topped with sparkling peach wine. Wut? Delicious and powerful, I'm glad we were walking from here. Wow, I haven't been to Vortex in years, and it has not changed which is good! We went on a late Sunday night and had a large party and a long wait due to parties not wanting to leave from their tables. Definitely appreciate the staff encouraging the seat huggers to get their check and continue the fun someplace else. This is a 21 and older establishment and my niece turned 21 and has been wanting to dine here since she moved to ATL so this is where we celebrated her birthday. She is also a huge burger lover! Everyone in the party enjoyed their meal, had a good time, liked their drinks and the server was fantastic!   If this is your first time make sure you take time to read the menu, it's amusing! Essentially the Little 5 Points location is a dive bar serving up good food. If you have a large party, you will be placed in the screened in upstairs patio, I personally prefer to go with a smaller group if you want to enjoy the cool pics and art inside and people watch. If you sit at the bar you will probably hear some pretty interesting stories.   This was back in early December so I can't remember what everyone ordered, I enjoyed the pickle spears of love $8.95, cheese balls o glory 9.95 (no I did not eat all of this by myself, the table shared appetizers J). Scrumptious, you can't go wrong with fried food, make sure to ask for extra ranch dressing. I had the Pickle Rick burger $13.50 (fried pickles, whiskey pimento cheese, and house Szechuan sauce), no bacon since I don't eat meat and had it with an impossible burger which had a sur charge of $4.50. The service was below average at best, at least the food came out correctly. The ambiance was nothing spectacular, it was very rustic and giving bar vibes like "mom and pop" bar vibes.
