I loveeee middle eastern food and when I found this place on Yelp close to my hotel I had to try it. We ordered Togo and I made sure my partner got extra sauces because of all the rave reviews. Nothing disappointed!!! Everything was so good down to the rice. This is a must try in Hollywood. The cashier guy was super nice and thanked us for giving them a shot.

    Grilled Peri Peri Chicken plate

Got 2 grilled peri peri plates (4/5) which come with 2 sides. The chicken is somewhat spicy but really good. For sides, we got fries (3/5) which were seasoned & tasted okay, hummus & salad, -both standard (3/5). They have 4 sauces: white (5/5), green, mango & savage sauce. We only liked the white sauce. We also got a double cheeseburger (3/5) which was juicy but I thought the patty was pretty bland. I also ordered a can soda- ginger ale for $3, but it wasn't in the packed bag & I wasn't told to grab a can, so I assumed it was already packed in the bag.

Kofta Kabob Wrap with side of Falafel

A modest middle eastern restaurant a few blocks away from Hollywood/Highland, away from the tourist attractions. Giant pictures of various menu items on the wall help with visual appeal. Service is straightforward: order at the counter and they call your order out when it's ready. I wish the kofta wrap was more compact, tightly wrapped because it started falling apart almost immediately. Kofta itself could have used a little more salt/seasoning but the natural beef flavor comes through and it was ready in ~10 minutes so, overall ok for what it was. Falafel was the best I've had in a while: really crispy and fried to perfection. Could distinguish the chickpea and fava beans on the inside. The green sauce went really well but I wish there was hummus with it. I would come back for the falafel alone.

The sauces! So yum and unique. The guy at the register was super helpful with the menu. I wanted to try all the sauces to make my choice of which one is the best and I couldn't decide, they were all unique and had their own flavors. The garlic sauce is always a classic must have for Mediterranean eats. Will definitely be back for more whenever I'm in the area. My husband had the beef steak plate which he loved it. I had the peri peri plate and it was delicious.

Chicken Kabob Plate everything was good and I love that it is made to order.

The food was great, made to order so it comes out fresh. Very flavorful. I recommend trying all the sauces. Nice staff.

Lamb/beef gyro with hummus and fries.

First off I did delivery so I can only speak on that experience. It was also my first time ordering from here. I ordered the lamb/beef gyro platter with fries (had thought I pressed falafel but that was my error) and hummus, a salad, fries and two drinks. The gyro meat was quite tender, moist and flavoured really nicely as well as a good portion in there. Which can be rare for some gyros. So it gets most the stars due to that meat quality. Now to the stuff where I am giving it only two stars. Although the gyro was stuffed with meat, the usual suspects alongside it were on the bottom and kinda non-existent. Barely any lettuce or tomato, actually ended up taking some from my salad to put in it. Easy fix but a bit disappointing. The salad was okay but not much to write home about, felt a bit buffet cafeteria line to me. Dressing was good though. The fries were okay but tasted a bit last of the barrel/end of day type stuff. The seasoning was good but they were limp and cold. Maybe due to delivery but arrived in under 15mins so they shouldn't have gotten that cold unless they had been sitting out under a lamp already. Overall it kinda felt like this was a last hour of the day use the scraps meal. Which seems a bit odd seeing as they're open past 1am and I ordered around 10pm so quality should still be solid. Definitely disappointed on that and especially after reading good reviews. It sucks to have to write a bad one and I'll reorder another day to test if this is the norm because we all have our off days. I just feel like I could've gotten Halal Guys down the block for half the price at the same quality of what I just had.

Our food was delicious and did not take long to arrive at our hotel. Both of our entrees exceeded what we were expecting to get. I will definitely order from here again next time in L.A.

Thankfully, we had a reservation, so our wait wasn't long. Once inside, the restaurant was buzzing and packed with people, but even with the crowd, the service flowed smoothly. The waitstaff was on point throughout the evening. The beauty of dining with a group of four is that you can order a bunch of different dishes and share the experience. And that's exactly what we did! For cocktails, we went with the Nebuchadnezzar, Semira, and the Khoda. Then came the food: * Hummus Duck 'Nduja * Chicken Liver Pâté * Fried Quail * Farm Cheese with Buckwheat Toast * Oyster Mushroom Kebab * Slow-Roasted Lamb Neck Shawarma * Wagyu Beef Cheek Tagine For dessert, we finished things off with the Fresh Peach Tart. Everything came out timely, fresh, and cooked to perfection. There were a lot of great dishes on the table, but the standout star of the night was the Slow-Roasted Lamb Neck Shawarma. Tender, flavorful, and absolutely delicious! Overall, Bavel was a great first experience. Good food, great energy, solid service, and the perfect spot for sharing a meal with friends.

Their arayes are a must -- it's basically like a lahmajun with two pieces pressed together, and it's insanely good. I usually go all in and order the tabbouleh, babaganoush, a pound of lula kebab, and shish kebab. Honestly, if you're with 2+ people (or even just really hungry), ordering by the pound with sides is way better value than getting individual plates. You get more variety and it just feels like the right way to eat here. Every now and then I'll switch it up and get the liver plate -- it comes with tons of greens and onions, and when you wrap everything in their fresh pita, it's incredible. Not an everyday order, but when you're in the mood for it, it hits. If you dine in, the indoor decor is super nice and really gives that authentic Mediterranean vibe. They also play a lot of 90s music, which somehow fits perfectly and adds to the whole experience. I've dined in plenty of times and the service is always solid -- staff is friendly and attentive. Just a heads up, food can take a little longer sometimes, but that's because they're always busy and everything is made fresh, so it's worth the wait. I've also done takeout here more times than I can count -- probably over 100 orders at this point -- which says everything. This is easily one of my go-to spots and I keep coming back for a reason.

From the moment we arrived, the vibe felt off. The host who seated us (who later turned out to also be a server) left us at the table, and no one approached us for about 10 minutes. When a server finally came over, the first thing she said was "Ready? Ready?", no greeting, no welcome, nothing. We were never brought water. I had to ask a busser for it because the server walked past our table multiple times, clearly saw us, and chose to ignore us. The food runner was also rude, he dropped the plates on the table without saying a single word. Throughout the entire meal, no one checked on us. No "How is everything?" No "Do you need anything?" Nothing at all. Meanwhile, we noticed that nearby tables were being greeted, checked on, and treated kindly. When we asked for the check, the server literally threw it on the table without saying a word. The experience was so bad that we decided not to leave a tip; Something we never do, especially since we truly value good service and I personally work in the restaurant industry. I don't know if the treatment had anything to do with how we looked or how we were dressed, but I've never felt so ignored and uncomfortable in a restaurant before. The food may be fine, but the service completely ruins the experience. I would not return or recommend this place.
