--- WORST HAIRCUT IN PAST 10 YEARS --- I've been coming a few times, mostly having Kelly cut my hair. Although she never styled it the way I wanted, she was always kind enough to make incremental adjustments. It was enough for me to come back. But yesterday was different. She did a poor job on the sides and when I repeatedly asked her to make adjustments, they kept being more and more off. She kept on chatting with me and with her colleagues. This was a clear lack of respect for my time and money. When another customer came, she told him soon even as my haircut wasn't close to be done. But from that point she rushed the haircut and was always asking if I'd wash my hair (more money). In the hopes that she'd be more willing to cut properly, I agreed. This did not help and asking multiple times to fix very basic things that any barber familiar with Asian male hair should know did not make things better either. She finally rushed me out and took on the other customer immediately. I left angry and sad, but still leaving her a generous tip for her troubles. I'm not the type to confront people as I believe they are not bad intentioned, but the way I was treated yesterday does not make me want to come back. read more

Have been to Tex twice, most recent appointment had a haircut and highlights. Very satisfied with the haircut and the color. Some stylists in the past have used products containing bleach which is very damaging. Tex used a Redken product, no odor, great result, he is very experienced and knows his craft. I will definitely be back. It is a neighborhood salon serving all ages, not pretentious, very reasonable pricing. Starbucks is two doors down if you want to grab a latte before your appointment. Tex is great. He does a good job with my thinning hair and keeps it looking full. He moved to this location recently, and now I can shop for asian groceries at the Japanese market or go to Smart & Final for some discounted shopping. Since I live in San Jose, his new location is easier for me. Parking is abundant, and his new salon is coming together quite nicely. Tex is off Mondays, but the girls that work here can accommodate just about anyone. I think he offers reasonable prices for the amount of time he spends on your hair. 5 stars for VPaul! read more

Over the years he has helped me figure out the best way to cover up my gray hair, grow the gray out, and now adding in bright blue and purple highlights. I love it. He's super flexible when i need to come in since i live over an hour away and won't go to anyone but him. I don't usually do this, but I was surprised by the curt treatment I received. New customer, called for an appointment at 2. I arrive at 2 and no one even looks up for a few minutes. Then I was just told to "sit down and wait". 20 mins later, no one says sorry or gives a time estimate. There are 2 stylists and then I find out there are 2 other people ahead also with appointments at 2. U wait for haircuts sometimes, no big deal. I'm a guy, and have been going here since I stumbled upon their original place on Castro Street in Mountain View. I wish they hadn't moved since I have to drive further, but Christina is worth it! She's quick, gives and excellent haircut, and you get out for under $20 including a big tip (haircut is $15). Plus, Christina is very personable, and easy on the eyes! My husband and I have been going to V'Paul'a Salon for over 18 years now and i have never, ever left unsatisfied. Tex is awesome at hair! Coloring, cutting and styling. The girls (Victoria and Christina) not only do awesome hair, but either one of them is top notch when it comes to the nails. So, I've been trying to get my hair color/highlights right for at least the past 1.5 years. I just couldn't understand why it was so hard to get a basic brunette base with caramel highlights. I had them done years ago in another state and they were gorgeous. First I wound up with outright blonde, next it became more auburn, and my last attempt before coming to Vpaul'a was more copper. I was ready to give up. Then my nephew recommended Tex at Vpaul'a. I have to admit, I was skeptical given my nephew has a short basic cut and doesn't get his hair colored. But, he promised I wouldn't be disappointed. It took several months, but I finally set an appointment with Tex. Now, my only regret is that it took me so long to give him a try. He is a masterful colorist and I am, once again, in love with my hair color. He was so determined to get the color right that my 1 hour appointment turned into 3 hours and two separate color processes. And not only did he nail the color based on one picture I showed him, the haircut was just as perfect. Thank you, Tex, for taking so much time with me. I know you had to work around your already very busy schedule. And a shout out and thank you to Tao who assisted throughout and also found time to give me a relaxing pedicure in the process. I was looking for a salon which uses L'Oreal INOA (no ammonia permanent hair colour) as that is what I used to have before I moved to California. When I rang Vpaul'a Salon they confirmed that they indeed use this hair colour, asked for the specific shade I use and offered an appointment straight away. When I went, I was immediately seated with Tex who carefully checked my hair and its condition and confirmed that the shade will be right. Tex politely suggested to add a few highlights so break up the mass of hair I have to which I agreed. I am very lucky that I found this salon as Tex and his colleague are doing an exceptional service: colour is mixed with special protein to give back shine, then it is massaged well into roots to cover everything, it is checked and combed through half-time, hair is shampooed very thoroughly and then a special conditioner is applied. The blow-dry service is fast and efficient but most of all perfectly done! They also use ironing thongs to give a final finish which makes the blow dry last longer. Overall, I can only recommend this salon. And of course, last but not least, they charge a reasonable price which is a bonus when you get such great results and service. read more
