Okay - So I wanted to wait until my second touch up session and my brows to fully recover before writing this review. And I must say, I am impressed! This is my first time getting my eyebrows micro bladed by her. My brows have already faded a lot since the last time I got them done was in 2019 with someone else. I love how much time I save when getting ready so micro blading is the way to go! However, I wanted it to look as natural as possible and look more like powder than the classic hair strokes. I got the magic shading with color correction because Athena had said she needed to correct the color of my brows done by the previous person. I work an on-call job with a lot of meetings last minute and Tiffany (the scheduler) has been so patient with me having to move around my appointments and reschedule. Thank you so much for your patience, Tiffany! Athena's studio is so clean and relaxing, which is one of the top things you would need especially working with clients faces. Athena is very detailed in mapping the brows on your face to make sure you like the shape and length before actually starting her work. First session took less than 2 hours and the touch up took less than an hour. So after my first session, my brows recovered very lightly, so for my second session I told her I wanted it way darker, enough for me to not have to actively fill them in every day. Now that my brows are fully recovered, I do still wish it was a tad bit darker because I still have to fill them in a little when I have a full face makeup. I wonder how much it would cost for me to go back and go a bit darker? But the shape looks great though it is a lot thinner than what it looks like after first session, but overall it looks very natural. I hope the color holds for a while, Athena said you typically get another touch up in 2 years so hopefully that's the case! The aftercare is pretty low maintenance, you just can't get your brows wet for 10 days and for the touch up, you can't get it wet for 7 days. But no need to apply any sort of cream. I had their service almost 4 years ago. I wanted soft and natural eyebrows, and I brought a sample photo I found online. However, when the procedure was done, my eyebrows were much darker and more intense than I had expected. So, during the 1 month touch up session, I asked Athena if she could make them softer, but she insisted not, and said "it will make you look older". So, I gave up and decided to wait until the pigmentation fade, with covering my eyebrows with bangs. However, after almost 4 years, they are still dark. So, finally, I decided to have them removed by the other artist. Though I was not satisfied with the work done by her, she could be for you if you are looking for long-lasting eyebrows. I have been to see Athena for 3 years now and this is the best place for eyebrow artistry by far. I knew it was time to find permanent eyebrow artistry with thinning eyebrows and difficulty with mimicking symmetry and filling by hand with glasses ( let's admit some us of don't want to have one eye surprise vary by days with trying to fill it in daily). Again i came to Athena because of all the raving reviews. I am sorry to say my new brows never even looked nice and people asked me "what happened"... I have friends who have gotten them from other places after me and theirs look incredible. The red regardless of Athena's response is NOT normal. It's not easily fixed because I went to a person who services Hollywood actresses and begged her to fix and she said No. She won't try to fix a problem like this because it's just covering the bad work and I need to get this professionally removed (not as neutralizing, Athena this is doctor office removal costing thousands of dollars). I also looked at photos from the happy customers here .. I am sorry your brows do not look great. Since I have researched more I know what good is like... it's not from some random lady who started this as a side gig ... Being happy and thinking the work is great is all subjective. Some people may not have high standards and perhaps can't afford more expensive work... I wish I would not of saved money to get a deal ... you get what you pay for I guess. I really don't like to write negative reviews but this has caused me huge depression...trying to cover it for years with makeup (which voids why I even got this done) and now I have to spend more money getting this fixed... I never thought I would get my eyebrows done, but I did it. I decided to have Athena do my brows because of all her great yelp reviews. Being a first timer I was a bit nervous about committing to a semi-permanent tattoo on my face. Athena was very professional, friendly, and detailed. She took the time to measure my upper face and I ended up doing microshading with hair stroke. Throughout the procedure she'd ask if I was comfortable and whether I need more numbing cream, which I did. The procedure took about an hour, but it flew by because we exchanged a few beauty tips (I gave her hair tips and she gave me makeup tips). Now, for the eyebrows...it has only been a day, but I totally love them. They shape my face so well despite it being the first session and fading will happen. Update: I came back for an eyeliner touch up as the right side of my wing was slightly faded (I sleep on the right side of my face). I really notice and love the difference, but it looks so natural that most of my friends and even coworkers who see me every day couldn't tell that I'd had anything done. Trust the process and the journey! Deciding to have permanent makeup performed is a huge feat and your trust needs to truly be placed in the hands of professionals that are skilled in what they do. You're essentially having a tattoo performed on the most delicate part of your body - your face. As with all knicks and cuts, your body goes into protective mode and begins to heal itself, displaying scabbing. The first day of the procedure you may be shocked of the darkness in color. I am very fair with light hair and the coloring of my new brows against my practically translucent skin was crass. But, I trusted the process. Athena told me that within the next 2-4 days it will get even darker. Darker! And, it did. For a brief moment I thought - ooof, what did I do?! But, I kept trusting the process. Within 7 days the scabbing began which was like white edging surround the hair strokes. You can't fully wash your face for ten days (can't touch your brows to water) so you must allow the scabbing to take place and avoid the urge to touch them. Leave them be! As the scabs barely held on by the little hairs that I do have, I used tweezers to gently remove them from the brows, but only if they were no longer attached and only held by the hairs. Your brows will fade in the following weeks and that is why there is a "touch-up" procedure within a month of your first procedure that is included in the original payment. It's planned so that Athena can see your skin and the effects and how you personally took to the process, once you've healed from the first procedure. And then she's able to educationally make the next decisions for how to touch-up the brows further. With me, because I'm so fair, she chose to go even darker with the touch up and even more strokes of hair. Everyone is different but everyone should just trust the processing time. Keep in mind that I read and signed a disclaimer that stated that fair skin and hair does have different affects and may appear lighter than anticipated (you'll sign this via her webpage when signing up). Athena has no scientific control over how my skin will react to the procedure. It is up to me as the client to understand those facts and either choose to move along with her services or not. And I chose to move forward based on reviews and I can tell you that I loved my experience! It did not hurt me and I've never had any tattoos done. I healed fairly fast and I find the result to still be 100% better than my original over-plucked and discolored brows (parts of my brows are brown and others are stark blonde). This has changed my opinion of myself and I'm so thankful that I finally took the plunge to invest in myself. My brows were sadly something that really bothered me. If you're on the fence like I was, just know that I'm so happy that when I look in the mirror, I no longer have to be bothered by how awful and thin my brows were. Thanks Athena!! read more

I had my eyebrows microbladed in May 2018 and it's one of the best decisions I've made this year. If you're on the fence about doing it, here's your sign- in the immortal words of Nike, just do it :) It's a big decision, and I get it, it's basically a tattoo on your face. I did hours of research for over a year and went back and forth before finally pulling the trigger. My only regret is not doing it earlier. I used to waste so much time and product applying/wiping off crooked brows. My natural hair is minimal at best, so my poor attempts at drawing them on freehand were ridiculously time consuming. To make it even better, when I'm focusing, I tend to rub my face- which has resulted in a whole lot of missing eyebrows by the end of the workday in the past. If you're reading this, chances are you know exactly what I'm talking about. Those are reasons to get your brows microbladed. But why Athena? She's precise and professional. Athena was amazing! I had my eyebrows microbladed and a thick cateye eyeliner tattooed about 4 years agos in SoCal, but they were fading like crazy. In the bay area, it took me a long time to find an artist like Athena that could touch up my thick eyeliner. When I first met with Athena, she did a color correction on my brows (which had faded to a weird green color). When sketching out shapes, she had everything measured out perfrctly for it to be symmetrical! Athena was able to do some hairstrokes on my brows with magic shading. She completely re-tattooed my eyeliner and made some slight adjustments (adding a longer "tail" to the cat eye) to help compliment my face shape and make the liner more symmetrical (when I first got my eyeliner done, it was only estimated by eyeballing the symmetry rather than measuring). What's more is that Athena includes a complimentary touch up for both the magic shading and the eyeliner! I didn't get the eyeliner touch up before and it was clearly a necessity. I am having such a great experience with Athena. I have scars from the top of my head to the bottoms of my happy feet. I am already having a better experience here than the original place I went to in La Jolla, Ca. Athena seemed to know what I wanted before I even said anything. I've gotten my eyebrows tattooed from 3 different people over the course of 15 years and was never satisfied. They were always uneven, the shapes were totally different and the color was always faded to weird shades. I've had black brows that turned blueish green and brown brows that turned a little reddish. This time around I did my research until I found the perfect person. Thank goodness for yelp and instagram. I'm soooo happy that I found Athena. I wish I knew about her when I first started getting my eyebrows done. After my first visit, I was sooo happy with my results that I had to hug her. I finally have symmetrical eyebrows, love the shape and they fit my face. I can't remember ever having symmetrical brows. The process of drawing and measuring my new eyebrows took longer than the actual procedure itself. The procedure was quick and painless. She used a numbing agent that worked really well and asked me several times along the way if I was in any pain and told me to let her know so she could add more numbing. To make sure my eyebrows were symmetrical, Athena had to go over my previously tattoed eyebrows and the tail ends of my old tattoos were sticking out below my new brows. Her sister was able to use a special removal technique that was painless and made the tails so light that I can just use concealer over them and you can't even notice they're there.
