I've brought two cars to Matt and Wing at VT, and they're consistently incredible. I brought a 2011 e93 335is with a bunch of engine problems which they were able to thoroughly diagnose and give me an informed opinion. One time my car turned off immediately at startup and was making a racket - in a panic, I called Wing and he helped me find there and then that the charge pipe wasn't locked, and how to fix it. Note he did this for free and I hadn't even brought my car to them for any work at that point. Just demonstrates the caliber of their character. My turbos had vacuum issues, and they were able to diagnose a separate camshaft bearing ledge failure, which the dealership was unable to. After that car was rear-ended and totaled, I brought my 2018 M4 and continued receiving the same incredible service. They're consummate professionals who know BMWs inside out, and take pride in how consistently thorough they are. They're also remarkably patient - I love learning more about my car, and they take the time to walk me through my questions despite how busy they are. They're very responsive and pricing is more than fair - to be candid it feels like they could charge an order of magnitude more, like other BMW mechanics I've used who don't come close to the level of diligence and service. Wing guided me through the spring rate setup, damper adjustments and other features. After the install the car has been transformed! I came from over 50 miles away just to have THIS shop do work on my car. In a two sentences, I would come back to these guys in a heartbeat. Matt and his team did an excellent job changing the rod bearings and motor mounts on my 2013 Bmw m3. They also helped me with the DCT transmission fluid, filter, and gaskets on my e92 m3. He quoted me a very reasonable price and helped me replace my broken fender lining without even charging me for the service. They just know what's usually broken on a BMW. I usually go through forums and see if there's a fix I can do myself and when that fails, bring it into Wing/Matt. You can even bring it in for the regular boring stuff. Although their hourly rates aren't the cheapest around, they're quick with the repairs so I find their prices in-line with everywhere else in the area. They also do a lot of advanced modding and welding, taking engines completely apart etc. They have more skills here than other BMW shops. read more

Even with the near death of motorsports, car people are pretty hardcore. They do their own oil changes, go onto YouTube to learn how to swap out brake pads, or hold installation parties to upgrade seats or audio head units. So for car people to give up their babies and put it into the hands of a mechanic, it takes A LOT of trust to do that (and a lack of space, tools, or a lift at their own place). So I just got the BMW Motorsports limited slip differential for my car. I did the research online. It's a 2-4 hour job and needs a few special tools. But given my space in the garage and tools I thought, let's give VT Motorworks a call. Matt over the phone quotes me 2.5 hours. Yep, right in line with what experienced guys do it in (and not a BOOK rate like other ahem... places). I made an appointment and dropped the car off in the AM. VT's garage was packed with cars already - that's always a great sign. Chatted with Matt a bit and then ordered an Uber to get me to work. That afternoon, I got an automated text message that the car was ready. Got my ride share and picked up the car. I asked Matt about the break-in period for the differential, he said he'd already logged about 10 minutes of figure-8s in one of the back-lots nearby and to give it another 10-15 minutes on my own. Yeah, those little things right? On the drive home, no weird noises, no new LSD whines or groans. Needless to say, there's a reason why these guys have 5 star ratings. read more

These guys are awesome. Took my m340i over there to have coilovers installed, and they were very accommodating. After the first week on coilovers, I had to take my car back to them since these coilovers settled quite a bit and was too low. They raised it up with no problems at all. After 1k miles from initial install, I had to take it back to bring it back to stock because the coilovers I bought were not to my liking. I am going to go with a different set up and Matt even recommended some other brands I should go with. I will be back once I get my new set of coilovers and wheels. I went here with no appointment. I wasn't sure what exactly I needed because a few sensors came on and BMW dealer told me everything was fine. I wanted VT Motorworks to check it on their computer in hopes they could let me know what was wrong. Matt and Wing were booked up and still made time for me. Wing spent more than 2 hours trying to figure out what was wrong with the car. Turned out there was an oil leak and a lot of bad hose connections that BMW never mentioned. I had an oil leak on my E30 and took my car to VT Motorworks to get it diagnosed and repaired. The shop is brand new, the lobby/office area is still getting built; so there isn't an area to hang out just quite yet. There is an assortment of cool cars to look at though. Matt and Wing are both very friendly and super knowledgeable they were able to get me back up and running in no time. Matt also noticed some other things that needed replacing and showed/explained what I needed urgently and what would need replacing when I had a chance. No pushy salesman type upselling, just good informative service.
