Oliver, the owner, has been great whenever I've gone in. He takes his time, but he gets it done in a reasonable amount of time. Shock of shocks, he actually seems like he's a good and reputable mechanic. He won't nickel and dime you for everything, and he sincerely seems like he follows the philosophy that he'll do okay if he treats his customers well. He doesn't bring up random parts of the car that need to be replaced every time you bring it in. The shop is located with a number of other shops, so there isn't a whole lot of place to wait around. Expect to have someone pick you up and take you back. Bravo, Oliver! Writing you a good review is the least that I could do. And while I don't currently have an Acura or Honda, I know where I'll be going to for automotive services if I do. Heartily recommended! read more

Oliver is the man. I came here after reading some of the Yelp reviews on here as well as a friend who also frequently gets their Acura serviced by Oliver. I got the B1 service done on my Acura TL which had about 200k+ miles on it. I keep it well maintained, regular maintenance interval visits to dealer, engine mounts brand new, among other items. But, I wanted to try something new. Not only did Oliver detail the actions he performed on my car - but showed me the old spark plugs and old timing belts for my car that he replaced! Oliver really knows his stuff and was detailed in everything I asked. One thing he forgot to mention after I left - my key fob that unlocked the doors to my TL was low on battery life (had to use the key to unlock doors, was too lazy to change it) - I came to my car and found a small quarter sized battery laying on my drivers seat. Didn't know what it was, so I drove off thinking nothing of it. After getting out of my car and coming back, I noticed the key fob buttons started to work again - I put two and two together and realized Oliver changed the battery on it, for free (assuming he forgot to mention that minor detail) But still, ask yourself, would your run of the mill mechanic go out of the way for you to do something like that? I wonder where my review went? Oh, well, I like Oliver anyways so I'll rewrite. He's honest and will only recommended work that is needed. Even if you ask him if it needs additional work, he'll straight out say no. Uses OEM parts, which I like but expect it to be a little more than other places. Prices have gone up on an oil change by about $2-$3 since I've been coming here about 4 years now. Still way cheaper than the dealer but a little more than a generic shop. You still get a Honda OEM filter, so its worth it. I've done my brakes here also. read more

Best Honda mechanic...ever! I just had the breaks in my car serviced and as usual they did a fantastic job. It's hard to find a good mechanic who is honest, forthright, and dependable. That's why Oliver and his repair shop, V-tec Automotive, is such a find. I've never liked going to Honda Dealer's for service because although the quality of their work is okay and they use original parts, you wait too long. Sometimes, it takes over half a day to get an oil change. It's also expensive. Additionally, personnel in dealerships can sometimes be arrogant and forget that they are performing a service for you, the customer. With other independent car mechanics, you're just not sure what you're going to get. You never know if repairs were performed to spec, if they used the parts they're charging, or if the repair is even necessary. With V-tec it's a different story. I've taken all my cars to Oliver for over 20 years. In fact, he is the reason why I only buy Honda's and Acura's. Here's an example of some of the things he does without even being asked: he returns the old part; he lets you know what repairs are necessary, what your options are, and helps you prioritize repairs; if necessary, he shows you exactly what he's talking about. Another upside is his parts and labor pricing is very reasonable, bordering on the low end. This is great but it also worries me because I want him to stay in business for a very long time. Oliver and his crew are honest dependable mechanics who are also wonderful people. If you have a Honda or an Acura, this is the only place you should take it to be serviced. Oliver, the owner of Vtec Auto, saved me $300! The dealership wanted to charge me almost $700 to replace two engine mounts (parts and labor) and Oliver charged only half for the two engine mounts to be installed with genuine Honda parts. He also did NOT want me to pay ahead of time for the parts (which I thought that I would have to do since I made the repair appointment over the phone and wanted the parts to be at his shop ahead of time) and only asked for payment when the work was completed. No places to hang out at while waiting so you may want to walk down to a nearby bagel shop for a while or get a ride. read more

Can we say awesome oil change in Diamond Bar? Indeed we can. Because thats exactly what I got. Was overdue for a change and the "maintenance required" light on my dash was on. I was freaking out for a little, since I initially mistook it for the "check engine" light, but the two are separate on my car (2003 Honda Accord coupe). Wasn't too concerned though, engine oil actually has a longer use life than then number written on the sticker on your windshield. If you're interested, look up the statistics for when you should change your oil on the California Department of Transportation website. Its a well kept secret that most people are "tricked" into just changing their oil every 3000 miles like zombies. Also make sure to look for the manufacturers suggested oil change rate in your owners manual. As a reference, both the website and the owners manual suggested I change my oil around 4500 miles, depending on my pattern of driving (which is mostly highway vs mostly local). They changed my oil, the oil filter, and fixed a problem from a previous oil change job (apparently somebody used the wrong washer to secure something, and he went ahead and replaced it with the right one). I believe I paid $30-35 for everything. Sweet. They don't try to scam you or upsell you on anything. Its all business for really the only thing you came there for. A bit more pricey than a crummy oil change at the normal crummy location. But then again, there's nothing crummy about anything here. Definitely worth the peace of mind. read more

Oliver said that I didn't need an oil change, and that the brake pads had plenty of wear. He resurfaced the rotors at a very reasonable cost and the car runs fine now. Without asking, he found a couple small issues (leaky valve cover gasket), but suggested I go to to have it covered under warranty (which I did). Truthfully, there are lots of well-made cars to choose from right now, but Vtec only services one--Hondas. So after going to an expensive Acura dealer to get my car serviced, I tried something new. Oliver took my car 20 minutes after I called him to "make an appointment." I live nearby, so this was so convenient. I had a laundry list of issues and he diagnosed everything, gave the car a far cheaper service than the Acura dealership, recommended only what needed to be fixed immediately, and gave me time estimates on when other things need to be fixed. The Acura dealership would rather sell you things now, than have you wait and possibly not come back. Not at Vtec. Oliver was amazing. The car actually *felt* different to drive. Oliver at V Tec was very honest and straight forward, I told him I needed to replace Rear Passenger Window Regulator on my Honda Pilot. Oliver said either you can call Honda Dealer for Part Price or I can take care of it for you. I charge Dealer part price plus my labor to replace $90. He uses Honda Factory Parts from dealer. I knew the part price was $150 plus tax because I had to replace the other one on the Driver Side 2 weeks prior. Dealer labor is ridiculous!!! Oliver charged $161.73 part price plus $90 labor, taxes =$267.09 total. Yes expensive but much less than dealer prices. He did a clean & honest job. I highly recommend him. Thank you. read more

I first came here about a year or so ago when my bf found Vtec on Yelp. At the time they had probably less than 10 reviews but everything was positive and they were local so we thought what the heck, let's try them out. We talked to Oliver and he quoted us a very reasonable price to change my Accord's timing belt - $300 less than what my dad had paid a month earlier at another shop in the SGV. I was very happy with his service. He even showed us the old parts that he replaced. He also recommended some other items that needed to be fixed but said those other things can be done at a later date. I really appreciated his honesty and integrity. So when my sister said she needed her brakes replaced I told her to call Oliver. He quoted her a price over the phone. After we dropped it off, he called to say it was only her front brakes that had issues, nothing needed for the rears and so the price would be cheaper than originally stated. This was a nice change since the dealerships usually try to say you need this and that. There's never any upselling with him. This is one of those rare finds - especially in the automotive industry where you expect to get hustled. I'd recommend anyone to bring their cars here. I have cars and repair needs for thirty years, and have gone thru Porsche, Mercedes, BMW, Audi, and Maserati specialists. You need both the skills and the integrity - lacking either, customer is screwed. Oliver is both skilful and honest. And practical, too. Not once have we had a bad experience between 3 cars (98 civic LX, 2000 civic LX, and 2003 Accord). Oliver is the best mechanic in Diamond Bar! I have a 1995 odyssey with 300K miles on it. It was running smoothly for the past 16 years but recently wouldn't start. We went to an individual, unknown, mechanic who told us to change the main relay. pfftt.. good freaking advice! I spent $85 for a new main relay and the problem persisted. I brought it to Oliver to have my car checked out. He diagnosed that it was actually the fuel pump and that the main relay was actually still working. He then deducted the fuel pump cost with the diagnostic cost and brought the total down to around $250. I was about to buy a new car... imagine that, gonna get stuck with car payments for the next 4 years... so, having to pay $250 only to get a working car makes me a very happy camper! In my opinion, oliver is a very honest and capable honda mechanic! I would highly recommend him to everyone! read more

called in and asked for an appointment. owner said hes to busy and only does his regular clients. he told me to try another honda specialist in rowland heights, i asked him if they were good and he said he didnt know. first of all how can you give a recommendation and dont know if there any good. second of all how can you own a shop and tell customers that you no longer take new clients. maybe you can schedule something in between or even maybe put a listing that you stop taking new clients. the recommendation to another repair shop surprised me because he didnt know if they were good or bad but made the recommendation. read more

If you have any problems with your Honda/Acura, you should send them here to fix. Oliver will fix them for you at a fair price. He is nice, honest and patient guy. Here's my experience with VTEC: 1st time i didn't drive my car for about 9-10 days. And when we drive it, i feel like the car is having some weird noise and not easy to make turns as same as before. I know nothing about car, so i decide to drive to dealer or garage to check if anything wrong? One of my co-worker recommend me to go to VTEC and find Oliver for help because my co-worker has been a customer of Oliver for almost 18-20 years with really positive feedbacks for Oliver. so i decide to give it a try. When i tell Oliver the whole issue, he just told me it should be fine. He then drive the car with me on the road for about 2-3 mins and tell me the car is working good. It just because i didn't drive it for almost 10 days. the more i drive it will because normal. Yes, he is absolutely right. He let me go and it costs me $0 this time. 2nd time The check emission system light is on for 1-2 days. I want to go back to work sooner so I send to the nearest dealer, ask me for $380 to fix that. (and they told me it takes 2-3 hours to get the job done). then, send to another repair shop near my company, they said dealer reset the code, so they won't know what the issue is and want me to leave until i saw the light is back on the panel again. Lucky, i didn't listen to them. they didn't even open the hood and let me go. I then drive about 10 miles to VTEC and tell Oliver the whole story, he always listen to you very patiently and was able to find the issue in less than 5 mins. He ordered parts and ask me to come the next day and i came next day, get it fixed within 10 mins and it costs me $40.... (The intake tube has a big crack which caused the light on and he replaced that.) Thanks. Oliver. You fix the problem for me so quickly and saved me a lot of $$. Oliver was super helpful when my SUV decided to overheat badly. I was worried and didn't know what was really wrong with my vehicle, but he was honest and understanding of my situation. I called him in the morning, bought the parts, dropped off my vehicle, and picked it up the same day. I was so worried and stressed about what could be wrong that I brought in a bunch of parts, radiator, hoses, belts, water pump. He only used the parts that were actually wrong with the car and that makes me 100% confident in him. He could have easily replaced all the parts I brought in but he didn't.
