I come here 4 times, she always makes me pay more than I expected. I was on the rush and did not know until later. For example, yesterday I asked for 1lb of beef jerky and 1lbs of dried plums. She ended up give me 2lbs EACH. EVERY SINGLE TIME. No wonder I always pay so much more than I expected. She always says that "oh just a little bit more, not much" and if you don't pay attention you will be tricked. I mean it's ok for me to buy a little more since I like the food anyway but I DON'T WANT TO BE TRICKED OVER AND OVER. It's not cool and not a proper way to do business. MAN! I feel like a kid in a candy shop here!! This is the spot for Vietnamese snacks and they also have some great jerky. All of the goodies are in plastic bins that are mostly labeled in Vietnamese. Some of the bins have little cups inside with samples so that you can taste it before you buy it. When you're ready, someone will fill up a bag with how much you want. In addition to the meats, there are also different types of fruits (these are either dried, salted, pickled, etc.), nuts, and some really odd things (I've heard that there are little dried crabs). We usually get that sweet and spicy red beef jerky that you slice up and add to papaya salad and the fuzzy-looking curried beef jerky, but today we just came in for some fruit snacks. OMG they have some of the best dried/fried fruits I've ever had. We got the mixed fruits which has taro, some kind of yellow root vegetable, apple, banana, and jackfruit. There was a bin next to it with some pineapples, so we got some of those too. Yum! Sweet, tart, and crunchy. You might need to get some extra taro and pineapples on the side...they're the best part. Even after a big dinner, we still made room for these snacks because they're that good. There are other locations that are under this name or "New Jerky Mfg., Inc." and this is the first time that I've gone to this particular location (it's a couple doors down from Quan Hy). By far the biggest Asian scammers out there. I learned my lesson by not reading reviews first because these ladies are SO PUSHY. My mom asked for 1/2 lbs and she got 1lbs and they were saying "oh it's just a little bit more" I really wanted to just throw the bag back at them to say no but they alrdy sealed and packed everything. If you are the only one in the store, be prepared to be followed by ALL the employees except for the one at the cashier. I don't even think the cashier weighed anything, she just charged us instantly for 1 lbs and didn't give us a receipt. I wish I could give 0 star for this place. The owner and her employees are so DISHONEST. Not surprised why they got so many 1 star reviews. I asked my BF to help me buy some beef jerky 4 0.5lb-bags from this store. I estimated it would cost less than $70 (price on average is $31/lb), but the owner rang my BF up for $120. The reason is that they put 0.8-0.9lb each bag instead of 0.5lb. Then, I was looking for the reviews on Yelp and Facebook and I realized that my BF and I are not only victims of their dishonesty. I have been here about 6 times. 5 Times for personal use and 1 time right before Christmas to pick up half pound bags for family and friends to go with their gifts. They all LOVE it. First off let me say that I am 6'4" white guy and go in alone. I get looks like "Oh wow" when I have to duck to get into the door. Every time I stop by here I am greeted by 2 ladies offering me tea or water. I always know what I want when I go here because of my past experiences. I always get at least 2lb (1lb bags) of Honey BBQ Jerky, and 1lb Lemon Grass Jerky. Others I like are Spicy Beef Jerky and Frank Beefy Jerky I will sometimes pick up half a pound of the dried squid/calamari if I am in the mood. I have never been hustled to buy anything other than what I want. They offer me samples, I try them say its good but I'll stick with what I have and they don't push me to buy anything else. They tell me they gave me a little over a pound and I say thats fine. When I am getting checked out they re-weigh the bags and I only get charged for 1lb per bag so I am not sure what others are saying about being charged more when they are given a little extra in their 1lb bag. Every time they re-weigh the bags though the lady that bagged it for me says something to the lady at the cashier in Vietnamese so maybe she says to only charge me for 1lb I'm not sure I wish I could speak Vietnamese. Prices are a little much but you get what you pay for. The Jerky is moist (sometimes you will get a couple rough/hard almost dried out pieces but that only happens ever so often) sweet and easy to eat. 1lb bag will last me almost a month. If I am really craving it only a couple weeks. They will only accept Credit/Debit cards if you are purchasing over $20. read more

The tea comes in jelly form. The sales people are kind of pushy and annoying- more so at this location then the others I've been to. They also didn't have my coconut candy. :( They have lots of snacks and candies here. You can try anything before you buy it. We ended up getting 2 different flavors of jerky- the sweet one with nuts in them, and the spicy curried one. I like how they packaged my snacks- it's completely sealed. I stood firm at the register and had them dump the excess out, but if you're not feeling confrontational, try to scoop it yourself in the first place so you don't have to do that. There's one Vua Kho Bo in Bay Area also, but my friend told me that this particular location somehow offered better beef jerky so I decided to give it a try when I was visiting SoCal last weekend. The ladies were really nice, as soon as they saw my car parking right in front the store, they immediately came out and greeted me with a smile. Right after I entered the store, they offered me a cup of hot nuoc sam (that kind of sweet tea) for free. Nice! Then they started opening most of the plastic boxes of different types of beef jerky for me to try. I took the advantage to try as much as I could (I know, when it comes to snacks, I'm quite greedy!), and they still wanted to offer me some more samples. I decided to pick the mild spicy-curry type. I ordered 1lb, but they somehow put a little extra, I didn't mind that. Then I remembered liking the tea so I asked if I could buy some, they offered me 3 different types, so I asked for half a lb which cost me about $7. So overall, I was quite content with the friendly service, the quality, and the variety of their products. The bill was more than double because they sold me more then 2 lbs of each of the item!
