My husband and I walked into Vue at 630 on a Saturday night. We were told the wait would be one hour for a two top, so we decided to go elsewhere. As soon as we walked out to the car, we changed our minds and decided to go back in. The host said "let me see if I can find you a table really quick". Fortunately for us, he was able to seat us right away :) Food was delicious! We were very impressed. We ordered fried calamari and the flat bread to start. The sauces on the calamari were incredible. I read that the average price for 2 people to eat there was between $50 and $100. I thought they were exaggerating . I looked at the menu and we're talking hamburgers fish and chips etc. it's a very casual place, not white tablecloth fancy dining at all, very casual. We each ordered fish and chips. $29 each! It comes with French fries and an itsy bitsy 1 oz. container of coleslaw. Period. It comes with two big pieces of fish, but the breading is about 8-in thick. It was very greasy and way overcooked. I was not all impressed with the food. The service was good and the view is a million dollar view with a fresh flower on the table. We only had water to drink, no cocktails, nothing else. nothing special. Out bill came to something like $76. I would not go back there. I could walk around the Pelican Bluff coastal trail for the amazing view. read more

The views and ambiance was amazing. It was a welcome stop after the hours of driving and through the windy forest for dinner. The pasta pescatore I thought was a tad bit too salty, which can accumulate on you as you finished the whole dish. I was also disappointed that the biggest clam of the 3 I had wouldn't open and they weren't able to open it up when I asked. Osso Buco was delicious. The clam chowder was also delicious and tasted perfect to me. The blackened salmon that was seasonal with the orzo rice was also delicious. The meditterean burger was a big miss since they first forgot to give the fries, it was missing lettuce, the basil and sumac from what I heard (inside the patty) wasn't detectable. Spectacular views - we saw a whale spout and a bald eagle hunting in the river. Food was delicious, rich and thoughtfully prepared. Chowder - one of the best I've had, lots of texture. Seafood Pasta - a little spicy, creamy pasta dish with clams, halibut, shrimp and mussels. Yum! Halibut Special - fingerling potatoes, al dente (ie. not overcooked) veggies Fries - hot salty crispy outside, soft center goodness There was no room for dessert. We've been to Vue Kitchen for a couple special occasions while visiting Gualala for the weekend. The view at sunset is beautiful, and it's nice to take an afternoon walk down on the path below the backside of the restaurant. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. They don't take reservations for small groups but we've always been seated right away. We've enjoyed several of their starters, the short ribs, the ossobuco, and this past time, the catch of the day which was a seared scallop and orzo dish (garlic-ky and divine!). After looking at the menu online, hubby and I decided to come to this restaurant for our vacation dinner out. It did not disappoint. The location is lovely with all glass walls in the dining area so you have a view whereever you sit. We, lucky enough, sat right next to the window with a gorgeous view of the ocean. Our waiter greeted us quickly with a drink menu. We both ordered wine. They also had beer and cocktails. I ordered the osso bucco with a bowl of clam chowder and hubby ordered the braised short ribs with claim chowder. My osso bucco was delicious with a gorgeous presentation. The meat was fall off the bone tender, the polenta was creamy and the roasted carrots were sweet and tender. Hubby's braised short rib was extremely tender with a to die for blue cheese butter on top. It also had whipped potatoes and sweet carrots. The clam chowder was probably one of the best I've ever had, creamy, big chunks of clam that weren't fishy or sandy. We also ordered one dessert to go; tiramisu. It was so good, I wish we had ordered two pieces! Wait staff was fantastic, attentive and very friendly. Prices were reasonable for what you get and the ambiance. A++ read more

There are a limited amount of nice, elegant restaurants to book for a large party in the Gualala area. Vue Kitchen was a last resort after other places charged too much with a bunch of different fees. Even though it was not our first choice, I'm glad that Vue Kitchen gave us a memorable dining experience. Booked the place for 10+ people and they gave us a private dining room with an amazing server. The view of the sunset over the ocean was phenomenal. The food, of course, was very delicious. The ribeye steak was juicy and tender. The flatbread was probably our group's favorite for appetizer. Happy hour at the bar with the best views! Grabbed a seat at the bar just in time for sunset on a Friday night. Ordered cocktails and calamari to start, followed by crab cakes and a cheeseburger with a glass of their Cabernet Sauvignon (from Kenwood in Anderson Valley). The calamari and (strong!) house cocktails were where it was at! The fry was light but crisp and their smokey aioli complimented the appetizer perfectly. The cheeseburger was a bit thin for my preference, but was generously layered with crisp bacon. It paired well with the Cabernet Sauvignon. Incredible! Our server was Kelly, he is absolutely fantastic! Ordered some finish and chips and asked if there was cocktail sauce, he said not yet but I can whip some up for you! It was the best cocktail sauce we had. He also recommended the portabella mushroom fries... OH my gawd! They were amazing! Woops...not grilled...drowning in dressing...thick sliced Parmesan and a ton of it...and whoa...fried anchovies...as listed on the menu, but red not white! Ordering the halibut was a mistake. Not sure what fish it was, but definitely not halibut. Small and thin fillet buried under a mountain of spinach over dry rice. For $49 it should be up for a Michelin star. We were staying north of Gualala for my birthday and decided to go check out this spot as it was advertised as a high-end bistro. To begin with, the Parking left something to be desired. It was difficult to navigate a good spot with a smaller vehicle with the number of very large trucks that were parked across multiple spaces. We had not seen the menu before we sat down. Upon review, the options seemed limited unless you wanted seafood. We were seated in a spot that was not outdoors, but somehow was hotter than if we had been outside. The server was nice enough, but I kind of expected at this level of restaurant for there to be an introductory basket of bread, especially in a seafood space. Unfortunately, I did not take pictures of our meals because I was very hot, but I ordered the filet mignon. It did not state anything about space in the menu. Sadly, the mashed potatoes that were meant to be garlic seemed to also have some sort of Thai spice that burned my mouth. The steak itself was well cooked and tasty, but had the largest piece of butter on top of it I've ever seen on such a small piece of meat. Everything on the plate was salty and at times hard to eat. My husband ordered the fish and chips. He said they tasted good but like my plate he said it was quite salty. Overall, for what we paid for the meal, the food did not match. My steak was $50 and it was pretending to be 6 oz. I could not eat most of what was on the small plates because it was either too spicy or too salty. read more

Really enjoyed our dining experience at Vue Coastal Kitchen. My husband and I came in for an early dinner to avoid the dinner rush, I'm so glad we did as this cozy restaurant tends to get packed. We were immediately seated in the dining room; which has sweeping views of Gualala River and the Pacific. Service was phenomenal, our server was friendly and engaging. We ended up ordering the Fried Calamari, the VUE Clam Chowder, the Flatiorn steak and the VUE cheeseburger. Everything was fresh and delicious, the calamari was outstanding. The Vue Kitchen is a part of the Hotel Breakers which offers ocean front lodging. We rent a house in the Sea Ranch with our family every year, but if it were just the two of us I would definitely want to stay at Hotel Breakers, especially since the Vue is right next door. If you happen to be in the area, I highly recommend this lovely coastal restaurant! read more

Visited for dinner on Thursday with a group of 10. They were able to accommodate the same day reservation and we had a fantastic server (Kelley). He was attentive, kind to the whole group, and was very knowledgeable about the menu. The view, as the name suggests, is the focal point of the visit. We were lucky enough to see a gorgeous sunset. The food was fantastic. They had a special filet mignon that several people got and they raved about how good it was. The beef was locally sourced and fresh. I had a martini that was very good. I split the ahi tuna special and the branzino with my friend and both were fabulous. I would absolutely recommend this spot if you're in town and I'll be back for sure. read more

Best experience yet with this place. We went to dinner kind of late, 30 minutes until close and we received the best service this time around. We tried different dishes and we were not disappointed at all. I tasted the halibut and it was flavorful and perfectly flaky. Well done because halibut is known to be fishy and that wasn't the case this time. Then I had mine the chicken dish. The chicken was very tiny which was a disappointment because it was so good but just to small. The rice and cabbage was perfectly cooked but the green beans just lacked serious flavor and I just couldn't eat those so I left those behind. The flatbread was so delicious and would have been better paired with a balsamic glaze to drizzle on top but still good none the less. We love coming here when we are visiting family and this is our date night spot. Look forward to my next visit read more

We were celebrating a birthday and tried many dishes: the short ribs, osso bucco and the halibut special and everything was delicious. My parents had the clam chowder and said it was the best! We've been here twice in the last few months for an update, and will be back. , It was a very good experience, with friendly service. The tasty and addictive flatbread appetizer (a regular on the menu) is like a meal in itself (6 large pieces) for all but those who require very high caloric intake. The halibut special on a Thursday evening was nicely prepared. "Mendocino Mule" cocktail was very tasty. The wine list is appropriate. I was happy to see that even mid-week (they are currently open Wed-Sunday 5-9), the place was hopping (both the bar and restaurant) , with both locals and vacationers. Part of the appeal is the pleasant sports bar, and of course the view. There are unfortunately no lunch options (not even on a Sunday), and no brunch, and they don't take reservations unless you are a party of 6 or more, so you may have a wait in the bar unless you come shortly after they open, and if you come in prime time with less than 6, you might not get in! You can eat in the bar if you want, but it is noisier there. I am happy to see that they survived Covid, and at least for now, this restaurant is stepping up, and is a nice higher end dining option in the area. Staffing is a little light, so service was slightly slow, and our meal (cocktails, appetizer and entree, no dessert) too 1.45 hours from start to finish. That was ok for us (we were not in a hurry), but be prepared just in case. it is not fast food. Prices are high but match the other upscale area restaurants (it's an expensive part of the coast, and it is hard to get good restaurant workers in that area). read more

Others around us noticed this as well and we heard someone else commenting about how long the wait was to get their drinks, etc. We found it a bit surprising since there were a lot of empty tables when we arrived. It's possible they were short staffed or having an off night. Our waiter was friendly and took our orders fine but it seemed like the staff were not very attentive in general to everyone, not just us. There was a couple that got their food long before us and we ordered before they even arrived so that was a bit strange. I was really happy with the food at Vue Kitchen. They do a lot of things well and have a good assortment of dishes on the menu. You are paying a bit of a premium for the view in addition to the food, but everything tastes freshly prepared and the service here is good. I would highly recommend getting the Tipsy Sardinian if you are a fan of seafood or pasta dishes. This flavorful entree really stole the show; I felt like I was back in Italy. The Catch of the Day on this occasion was halibut. Although it was nicely prepared, the size of the filet was on the smaller side so that might be something to keep in mind if you are very hungry. Overall, this was a great meal and Vue Kitchen is a nice spot for a romantic dinner if you are in the area. read more

I had the Osso Buco and it was delicious. The veggies with it were awesome: cabbage (spiced so nice), spinach and broccolini. All cooked so well. The polenta was creamy. All sprinkled with a delicious cheese and chives. The shank was tender and peeled off the bone with my fork. I paired with the Malbec. Service was great and prompt. We had such a disappointing birthday dinner here. From start to finish the service was terrible. We ordered martinis and the young lady brought herbal tea ( about 15 min ) this took while she was making hot water our food was being made. Our apps and dinner came before our drinks arrived. Huge pet peeve there but hey maybe dinner will make up for it. When I got the short ribs I could not beleive they did t trim the fat. My guys pasta sauce broke so instead of Alfredo we had the most expensive buttered noodle. When we mentioned how upset we were with the food the girl just said oh yeah the sauce broke and dropped our check. Terrible experience, over priced and wish we had a male server bc they seemed to be taking care the table much more efficiently. I had my wedding rehearsal dinner here on Sept. 27 with a group of 16 people. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was lovely. Working with Chris was easy to do and he suggested some great options for the group. We picked off their menu and the food was delicious. The room had bad acoustics though so it was hard to hear each other talk. Nothing the Vue can do about that though. They are a little pricey and even charged us for appetizers which we did not order so that needed to be fixed but I would recommend the Vue as a great spot for an intimate evening out on the coast. read more

When of our favorite places in Gualala. Usually go here twice every trip so we can try the new seasonal dishes. I'm currently on an opal spritz kick and I'm so glad the bartender knew how to make them perfectly. I'm also glad they still have the tempura green beans on the menu which are so so so good. My only wish was at the mini tiramisu dessert was a bit bigger as it is pretty mini. Otherwise, we're always super pleased with our meals here for both quality quantity and staff. We were staying in Sea Ranch and this is one of the few table service restaurants nearby. Usually places with captive customers like this are awful and this was no exception. Maybe we ordered the wrong things because I don't understand the five-start reviews, unless they are from relatives of the staff. My catch of the day was like chewing gum covered with a nondescript sauce. My wife's chicken was dry. The gin and tonic was tiny, and clearly watered down. On the bright side the vegetables were indeed good. Anyway, the $150 bill didn't help. The view was nice though. read more

Stopped by this place one night to pick up some food to go. We had ordered in advanced and the wait they said was 30mins, which was perfect. There is ample parking in front of the restaurant, convenient to walk to if you end up parking further. The inside the place is super cute, and the staff was so friendly except for one who wasn't informative. Hence I deducted a star. I forgot her name, but she was at the front desk, we asked her about the food and she went back to check and told us it's still in the works and we can wait. We thought okay it's been 30 mins but maybe it will be a few more minutes. She never updated us on the time and it was well over 20 additional mins. If we had known it would be that long, we would have gotten a drink or sat at the bar, but it was a bit awkward just standing around in the hallway and waiting. So I guess customer service could improve. That was my only complaint. After she handed us the food, the bartender helped with the check, and ran back to get utensils Ans other sauces that were missing. He was so polite and helpful. The food: we got fish and chips, it was tasty and crispy, no complaints. We also got calamari which was delicious and not chewy. This place is amazing! It's right on the beach with a beautiful view. It's very clean and classy. There were big windows everywhere showing the beautiful west coast shoreline. The servers were very patient and even cracked jokes!! They were amazing. The food took about a half hour to come out but in my opinion it was DEFINITELY worth the wait. I got 2 dishes: The ceviche and the daily special which was the Halibut. The ceviche was so good and tangy. The halibut was EVEN BETTER! I highly, HIGHLY recommend this restaurant if you're in the beautiful town of Gualala!! read more

My spouse and I had dinner at this restaurant when we were on vacation. All in all, I'd say it was a positive experience. Physically, the place is beautiful, with gorgeous views. We particularly liked the fire place in the bar area. The service was also good. When it came to the food, we thought it was a little less than spectacular. The pasta with seafood felt a little like it used canned tomatoes and was a little one dimensional. The steak was perfectly cooked (medium rare), but again felt one dimensional. Multiple waiters near us were attending all the other tables around who either had food or were finishing up. We locked eyes with them and still no one bothered to approach our table, the only ones with a menu still. After 30 minutes of this, we decided it was time for us to get up and leave. Waiters saw this and still nothing. As we were heading out, the older white lady waiter who was attending the tables in our section was gossiping at the bar.
