A young man attended to us and did a fantastic job. Can't believe I didn't catch his name, but the staff in general was great. They forgot my clam chowder and I didn't remember until I got the bill. They apologized with sincerity, but I was so impressed with the filet they cooked up that I could care less. Not only was the service and food good, the ambience of the restaurant is perfect. This place is fairly new is my understanding, so they have no signature cocktails yet. They have a pretty extensive wine list though. We popped in for dinner on a Saturday and they seemed pretty packed. Apparently, they just had a wedding party show up and they were scrambling to accommodate all the patrons. It was ok though, we ended up at a spot by the bar. My hubs had the fish and chips, which he thought was really tasty. The coleslaw wasn't very good though. I thoroughly enjoyed my "Tipsy Sardinian" pasta. It's spaghetti with a white sauce that had chunks of fish and shrimp. The shrimp were ok but it was chock full of fish pieces and the sauce was so creamy good! It's to die for. Bartender was working overtime when we were sitting there. My daughter had her rehearsal dinner here a week ago. General Manager Chris spent several weeks answering all of our questions and with head server Tina made the evening go flawlessly. From the champagne toast and charcuterie trays to the pre-ordered entrees and lemon cake the food was delicious and the service was amazing. Who doesn't love dinner with a view!? Vue Kitchen is a great addition to the Gualala area providing a nice meal, beautiful atmosphere, and attentive service. We made reservations to ensure a window seat and we able to choose at of the ones they had when we got there. We started by ordering a bottle of wine. The wine list is what you would expect for a higher end restaurant. An array of styles and price points. They also have cocktails and beer but they didn't have a menu for them. My boyfriend loves oysters so he ordered one of each to start off the meal. It is nice you can order them in any quantity. He shared they were fresh and worth every penny. For an entree I got the Cod and my boyfriend got the Pork Chop. The cod came over rice, with bok choy, and a poached egg, was good but missing a little something. The Pork Chop was stuffed and came over a bed of mashed potatoes. I believe the Pork Chop would have benefited from being served with some sort of vegetable. The plate seemed a bit incomplete. We were too full for dessert but they sounded very good. Our server was such a delight and made sure we were taken care of, even refilling our wine glasses. I would recommend trying this place out for dinner or even a drink in their beautiful open bar. When the weather is nice they also have a small patio you can have drinks on. read more

The Vue Kitchen was right next door to the hotel we were staying and pretty much one of the few sit down restaurants in the area. We had a reservation but given the small town vibes probably okay without it. This place is definitely worth a try during the day given the location and views. We had a wide variety of personal tastes in our party of 6 and the Vue did not disappoint. It was a super crowded Saturday night on Martin Luther King holiday but we felt like our server Rachel did a great job taking care of us. Everyone in our party enjoyed their food and the wonderful double chocolate gelato and flourless chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream capped off our meal perfectly. Prices were reasonable. When we arrived we were greeted by a curt, unfriendly host. We were also told no tables were available for our party of 3, except for the bar seating on the patio. However, there were several 4-seat tables that sat empty the entire time we were there. Our server was friendly and tried to help up as much as possible. We ordered the vegetarian risotto and the Sardinian pasta dinner entrees. Unfortunately, both entrees were not cooked properly and the presentation left much to be desired. The vegetarian risotto was soggy because there was too much water from the blanched spinach. The Sardinian pasta dish was only average and the linguine noodles appeared to be store bought. While the server did her best, the the host and the poor quality dinners ruined what we had hoped would a nice vacation dinner experience. We would not go to this restaurant ever again. read more

We went a month ago and dinner was very good, lots of flavor and fresh tasting. So we decided to return this last Saturday July 13th. I ordered the pasta pescatore and ordered no clam but extra prawns, my dinner came with 2 prawns total, extremely disappointing. My husband ordered braised beef shirt ribs and the meat was fatty and the mashed potatoes tasted like they were instant potatoes, the whole plate was bland. Then we ordered a chocolate cake which was very dry (tasted like it was thawed from the freezer) and the whip cream didn't taste fresh and it was watery on the plate. Overall very disappointing date night and we do not plan to return anytime soon. View is always amazing and the service was fine. read more

Tina- Apparently she was just filling in at the bar area where I sat but she was wonderful. Great personality and company from the moment I walked in. And she was no substitute behind the bar in my opinion. Great job/drinks Tina! Chantel- Super sweet with just the perfect amount of attentiveness without interrupting the experience. Thanks for the amazing service Chantel! Courtney- I was originally sat in her area but quickly realized it wasn't going to work for me with the crowd I was joined by in the back. So I made a quick dash back up front with Amy. Luckily I got to chat a bit with her as well when she joined the rest of us in the front at the end of the night. What a sweetheart. I wish you and your furry friend at home nothing but the best Courtney! Chris- He's "The Boss" but really came across as a peer and colleague with the employees here. I have seen it all when I am out and pay attention to the interactions between managers and employees. Chris is definitely the kind of guy people want to work for. And don't let the small town fool ya. This guy has big city experience and knows how to run the show. In summary food, drinks and service were all excellent. Super fun group. This is my first time back in Gualala in over a decade and I decided to try every local restaurant near and this is by far the most excellent! I ordered take out and they went above and beyond for me -- more than any restaurant EVER! Amazing hostess and bartender -- both lovely and polite! The food -- amazing! I had the flatiron steak frites and it was the most delicious, bursting with flavor entree I've ever had! Whenever I come back I will definitely be going here! Wow! This is fine dining in a gorgeous setting. Amazing food, try the crab cakes! The owner was a little stand offish while we were there, and made the staff nervous. Asked for the Clam Chowder, got the pumpkin bisque (I had even made a joke about having ALL seafood tonight) Took it back and brought the tasteless chowder (all potatoes, no clams... or salt). Next the crab dim sum... ouch! Absolutely excellent dinner. Top-notch service. Oliver was our server and he is so warm and cute and charming. We just loved him. We sat out on the deck, which has a convenient windbreak in plastic, and watch the sunset as the seagulls played in the bay and out on the ocean.It was absolutely gorgeous. The food is excellent, all the seafood is extremely fresh. Oliver told us they catch it right up off the coast a few miles north and bring it down to the restaurant. My personal favorite was the chowder of the day. It was clam chowder with bacon and very smoky and delicious. We also had the ceviche, which was very fresh and crisp and we paired it with their Pilsner. The catch of the day was sea bass in a Chardonnay lemon sauce, and I'm wary of the fishiness of Seabass, but this was a very light weight delicate fresh fish that didn't taste fishy. We also had a calamari, which was breaded and fried very lightly with just a hint of spice and reminded us of Napa Valley Celadon. Prices were reasonable enough, 14$ for the calamari and 34 for the catch of the day. Would definitely come back again. read more

We lucked out tonight! Vue is open for outdoor dining with a delicious menu! The whales were super close and Vue had the deck open so we decided to have an early dinner. We did an assortment of small plates: roasted beet on arugula salad, fresh ceviche, calamari and flat bread with smoked trout, fig and goat cheese. My husband raved about the ceviche and my favorite was the flat bread. A great local wine list, and voila, dinner! We felt very safe on the deck - tables were limited and staff wears masks, face shields and gloves. Minus 1 star because I had to ask for water refills more than once.
