Nice sized restaurant, we were seated immediately. We ordered egg drop soup (small), cheese wontons to start off. They were both very good and fresh, served hot. Then we ordered general pso chicken and beef fried rice with an order of egg rolls. The egg rolls came out first (one was a little burnt) but they looked fresh and house made. The chef came and delivered our entrees and was upset someone had sent the hurt egg roll out, so he took them and came back with 2 perfectly cooked egg rolls. The beef fried rice was great, I added bean sprouts and it already had onion and peas and carrots. It was really good. My husband had the chicken and he said it was really good too. We will definitely be back to try more yummy Asian dishes!

Very nicely prepared. Little bit of a wait. But friendly staff. Very good value for money. Soups were very good as well.

I'm giving this restaurant three stars. And that might be a little on the generous side. Some of the food is good and the breading is fabulous because they use cornstarch. Having said that the breading does not taste great on its own, but with the sauce and the meat inside, it is tasty and has the perfect crunch. This is for dishes like orange chicken. It did not work as well with the sweet-and-sour pork as the pork pieces were very small had a lot of fat and a lot of breading. It's very hit and miss with the dishes here. My son does like the beef and broccoli. I would not recommend their sushi as it is not fresh. And you might think oh you're in the mountains where would you find fresh fish but in this day and age you can get fresh fish anywhere. The service is friendly and strangely rushed when there are very many customers. But my son and I like to eat here and flip the coin on what the food is going to be like. ;)

    Mongolian Beef

I ordered Mongolian Beef, which is not the same style I used to. Surprisely, the portion is very big, with a lot of steak not thin sliced. We also ordered the seafood upon soup for the kids to share. The soup broth flavor is very light, but it's big enough to feed two. My mom ordered the sushi A, and the owner also let us try the fresh Wasabi, it was a great experience and very comfortable seating and service. I wouldn't say it's very authentic Asian food, but it's very decent and very clean. I would go back whenever I visit Payson.

Wasn't sure what to expect but this place was awesome!! It rivals any sushi restaurant in Phoenix/Scottsdale. We shared edamame which was good. My friend had pork potstickers...I had one and it was so good! Best I've ever had. She liked her vegetable soup. I got the Spider Man roll and salmon sashimi and both were delicious. I couldn't have been more pleased. So yummy...the salmon was really fresh. My vegan friend ordered 4 veggie rolls and was really happy with them. All in all great experience. I will be back next time I am in Payson.

    Japanese eggplant with roast pork

Asian food in Payson - I didn't have high expectations but it was pretty decent. The wait staff were Chinese and Mando-pop music played in the background. Their menu is quite diverse with Chinese, Thai, Japanese. We tried the Japanese eggplant with roast pork, chow mein, and California roll. One thing I wished they had was more context in their menu. The roast pork was char siu (Chinese BBQ pork) and the "crunchy noodle" in the chow mein was just a separate bowl of wonton strips. "Mein" in Chinese literally means noodle, but there was no noodle? There was just a surprise element of what I expected and what was served - but the description wasn't vague enough for me to ask the server. Pictures would help a lot, but I suppose their menu options are quite broad. The California roll was fine - I was surprised the rice was quite light to the point where there was exposed seaweed. Most restaurants heavily pad with rice to make you more full, but perhaps this was intended more as an appetizer. Eggplant had a hint of spice, but very tolerable. I thought the prices for the eggplant and chow mein were too expensive, but perhaps that comes with the territory of being one of the few Asian options in town. We also got two bowls of rice with our meal that were fine. Fitting for Payson, no Chinese language was on the menu nor chopsticks. No fortune cookies either, though. Servers all wore their masks correctly. Customers were seated in tables far apart - the restaurant is spacious enough to have plenty of social distancing. Customers generally didn't wear masks while not seated though, but I understand it's difficult to enforce. Orders were taken promptly, but once the dishes were served, nobody refilled our empty beverage glasses. Restaurant just opened in June, so the facilities are very nice and new.

Two inedible meals, one of them toxic, the other double-dipped

Toxic and poor quality! Today we ordered a shrimp dish and a Tso's Chicken dish. Before I released the order taker or paid her I asked if there were any mushrooms in the General's dish, that my wife was extremely allergic. Her answer was an emphatic NO mushrooms; she understood the question.. This was a take home order, and my wife on opening the Generals dish found sliced mushrooms all over the top and throughout the dish. The order taker called the chef to the phone with me. He was defensive at the get-go, agreeing that "of course it had mushrooms." He continued argumentatively that it was up to me to know what's in, or not in, all the Chinese dishes; the menu doesn't say mushrooms and I'm not a Chinese chef. It's not up to me. If it's up to anyone to know it's someone working in that dive to know or find out especially if a customer identifies a concern about serious allergy (anaphylactic shock). Also, the shrimp dish had more crust in each bite than shrimp, and the shrimp was tough, uneatable. That informs me that the shrimp was re-coated then re-fried and then served and that explains the heavy crust and tough shrimp. I expected apologies and a refund, instead he argued with me about what I should know about Chinese recipes. I told him I would seek a reversal of the charge because of the unfit food, and since he wanted to argue with me about his staff's answer and who should own his menu inside and out and that I would write a review to cite the facts to warn other diners. Poor food, poor attitude, and trying to unload an oriental's recipe knowledge on a gringo. By the way General Tso's Chicken does not list mushrooms on the menu, so between that menu and the staff's answer there was no warning, and then an incorrect answer to the question I posed, followed by an angry and unapologetic oriental chef. 不好

In this order: spicy Cali, shrimp Cali, Philly, and mountain roll.

I'm from Phoenix visiting for the weekend here in Pine, AZ. I was looking for a sushi spot and this place I found was the closest to me. I was feeling optimistic about the place. My first impression when I walked in was cold and unfriendly. We didn't get a greeting or a thank you when leaving. We did get seated quickly since the place was fairly lonely. The place is also clean and appears to be sanitary. We had quick service with drinks and food. When clarifying on some of the sushi options, I felt I was mislead by the verbal description of the waiter and from what was listed. For example, the Philly role didn't have an "*" on the menu and I asked the waiter if the role had cooked salmon. His response was "it's smoked." So I said "okay" and let it go. When I got the sushi, it was raw which is why I clarified and given there was no "*" on the menu to indicate that it had raw fish in it. For the taste of the food, the miso soup I ordered was incredibly salty. The Hot and sour soup wasn't as spicy as expected. The sushi order was mountain roll, Philly roll, spicy California roll, and shrimp California roll. The rice to the sushi had no flavor and the Mountain roll had to much salt.

    King roll.

This review is based on the sushi alone. I wouldn't say that it was bad, but it was extremely mediocre. As stated by another review, the rice on the roll that I ordered was very skimpy. I ordered the King Roll, squid nigiri and seaweed salad. I was hesitant to order the nigiri because normally an entire roll would be quite filling. For the price, it was actually quite small, since there was not that much rice on it. It tasted fine but I am glad that I got the nigiri and the seaweed salad. The squid on the nigiri was quite tough. Normally when I order squid, it's soft and buttery and almost melts in your mouth. This one required some chewing. The seaweed salad was quite tasty and there was plenty of it, but I don't know that it was necessarily worth 5.50. Altogether I spent $31 on dinner just for myself and I don't necessarily feel that satisfied. To be honest the sushi rolls from Fry's are a little bit better and more filling.
