I wanted to like it but it didn't work out the way I planned. Customer service was on point. Cleanliness too. Sauces were great. Veggies and rice, loved it all. But...the steak was something else, possibly too, lol. Like finely chopped up marinated meat. No fat or gristle, which was good, but still...not right. If it were beef jerky, but the soft mealy clusters found at the bottoms of a bag, it would be awesome...but it's not a bag of jerky. Maybe it was a bad day? Maybe it was nearing the last of the inventory? The smell and taste was awesome enough for me to eat it still, but the looks, well...I really hungry. Hope it was just the timing of my arrival. I don't remember the last time I had waba grill.. must be years. We got some coupon in the mail so we decided to get some grub! The place is pretty empty when we arrived. We ordered 2 waba plates with drinks. A waba plate is chicken and steak. We had the option to choose between white or brown rice...to be healthy we got the brown rice lol. The chicken and beef were both tender and topped with waba sauce and plenty of rice on the bottom. They gave a lot of meat.. I was so full and had about half of the rice left! I work nearby and got this recently because I didn't have a lunch. I got the chicken bowl, and the new taco platter. The meat was extremely low quality, kept having to spit out chewy things. About an hour later my stomach started hurting, and felt pretty sick the rest of the day. The employees were friendly, everything seemed clean. The store is located in the center with Costco. We were looking for a healthier option than Costco pizza and hotdogs so decided to stop in here. Clean and spacious. They have plenty of tabkes for dining in. We tried their bowls, one chicken and one shrimp. Vegetables were quite fresh and bowls were good. I did prefer the chicken over the shrimp. Surprised to see lots of bad reviews for this location so thought I'd share my experiences. Location is fairly new, with a clean modern look. You can definitely comfortably eat here if you'd like. There is ample parking in the plaza but beware of the Starbucks drive thru which blocks up the access time to time. Food has always been consistently good with well cooked food, organized presentation and quality packaging. I've eaten at this location over 20 times and it's one of my sage go to rice and chicken meals in the area. The food is healthy and clean. A great option for a quick bite. I usually get the chicken veggie bowl or the waba bowl which includes both chicken and steak. Highly recommend getting the green onions and waba sauce to add to your meal. Service has been decent for fast food. Never had an issue and it's been easy to order. They also do a good job making the food fairly quickly. read more

Worst customer experience ever. I walked in on Thursday night & there was a young Hispanic man at the register, on his phone, with his mask put on all ridiculous. He looked up at me, didn't say a word, & looked back down at his phone without ever greeting me or asking to take my order. The girl in the back that was preparing the food was the one that acknowledged me. I don't care how young you are, it's completely ridiculous that individuals like these make the company & restaurant look bad. I've actually never eaten at a WaBa Grill before until last week. Since I get gas at this Costco all the time, I noticed that it was actually open. I came here with a friend from work and ordered a chicken and veggie bowl with brown rice. The veggies consisted of broccoli, carrots and steamed cabbage. Similar to Flame Broiler, they have some self-serve sauces which I got with some green onion. Whoever is chopping the green onion, chops them really thick by the way. (attention to detail...) My friend ordered the bowl that came with both beef and chicken, but her bowl only had chicken in it. She told me she was here before and they did the same thing. The last time, she didn't complain, but now that it happened a second time, she went to the register to inform them of the error. They let her keep her chicken bowl and gave her a side of the beef on the side. Overall, nothing fancy, but i do like that they have the option of brown rice. The parking lot here can be a bit tricky and I witnessed multiple close calls already during lunch time on a week day. That's a big negative being in the same plaza as a Costco.... This place is dirty and one of the booth seats is ripped. The bathroom is nasty with sticky floors and full of graffiti. The toilet seat is all scratched up with graffiti. When you come here at off hours the workers are on their phones. Or they go hide in the back. When I came here and ordered I thought all the bowls came with veggies, but they don't. The cashiers should really tell you that. Why is the menu so confusing? The veggies were old and soggy. The meat portions are small. Why don't they sell pork meat here as an option? Honestly hard to believe that this place is rated so low. The restaurant felt very clean and the food was decent. We got the waba and vegetable/chicken rice bowls. Nothing fancy but definitely a lighter meal. The beef was a bit too salty; otherwise, the food tasted fine. Something to point out are the signs on the wall that emphasize the healthiness of the meal options. I just went into the Waba Grill at 1250 W Foothill Blvd in Azusa. The girl named Briana at the register was the rudest person I have ever encountered. She was on her cell phone taking care of personal business. Still on her phone after about a minute she asked me for my order. I told her twice but then she asked me again. I was a little frustrated so I told she had already asked me a few times. She said I didn't have to be rude and make that kind of comment. I told her that she wasn't paying attention cause she was on her phone. She sarcastically said "well do you want to make my appointment for me". I voiced my frustration again and she then said well there are other customers behind me and she refused to process my order because I called her out on her treatment of me. She said she was the manager and wouldn't give me the manager's name above her nor her name. I then was talking to the cook Juan. He is a very nice guy. He said he would take my order if he could but he wasn't authorized. He said the manager's name is Tony. I got Briana's name from another employee outside who was reporting to work. Briana told me she has been working 4 years there and I said she shouldn't be working there at all if that's the way she treats customers! Typical WaBa grill. Walked in at around 4pm on a Tuesday and it was empty. Headed straight for the register and although there were several employees behind the counter I was ignored for at least 3-4 minutes. Once I placed my order it was out relatively quickly and the food was good. My daughter wanted a cookie after we ate so my husband went up to the counter to purchase one. Again, despite there being no one in line and several employees in the back it took at least five minutes to purchase a cookie because no one came to the register. Passed by this restaurant on the way home. We were pressed for time and it was convenient. After I got our food, I find out they didn't have soy sauce. There were at least 10 people in line so I just left but we ended up throwing most of our food away because no one wanted to eat white rice without soy sauce. If you work at Waba and you get to work in the morning and you find out you don't have soy sauce, you go out and get soy sauce. Just like McDonald's would go get ketchup and Taco Bell would go get hot sauce. read more

I come here and the food is just as good as any other waba I've been too, quick, fast, friendly.....but people are missing the point. It's a "fast healthy" option other than subway. And compared to "other" teriyaki bowl places, I been to the one on Sierra Madre and San Gabriel, I been to the one in Azusa by Mr. Pollo, those are good too, this one is just as good! People on yelp are becoming CRAZY, trying to leave reviews like you're a French cuisine critic, omg GTFO of here! If you need a healthy, fast, option and you're in the area, choices are Carl's Jr., Taco Bell, Costco food court, a Jimmy Johns, and a Burgerim.
