It's been a while since I went to Waba. I am happy that they have pretty good deals. Hubby and I ordered the plate combos and it was wonderful. I also love that they have dumplings in the combo. I've been here handful of times and each time was a good experience but lately it's been going down. Especially tonight. It wasn't busy at all. I came in to order a quick meal an hour and a half before closing time. The cashier already had a mean RBF. Instead of her telling me "order when you're ready" she just looked at me. I ask her are you ready the look on her face was like yeah no shit. How am I supposed to know if you're ready to take my order if you are not responding. I go through the normal process of ordering until I had an issue with ordering a chicken and steak plate then adding veggies with it. She prompted to say so half rice and half veggies. I said no. She gave an attitude in regard to adding veggies. Then points out how am I supposed to add the veggies if the plate only comes in this size. See, I can't add veggies. I asked her you can add veggies to the bowls but the plate you can't ? Makes no sense. So instead of explaining how it's done is you forgo half of your rice if you want to add veggies. She kept saying so half rice half veggie. I said no I don't want to forgo half of my rice. Instead of helping me figure out a solution she just stared at me like I'm dumb. I don't know what your process or procedure since I don't work here Susana. I was starting to get more frustrated with her lack of customer service, communication skills and attitude. I finally said can you add a side of veggies. Then it looked like it clicked, like duh I should have thought of that. After all the unnecessary back-and-forth she quickly rang me, as if she couldn't be bothered anymore. I paid. As I was walking away from the register. She turned to her coworkers started speaking Spanish to them. Mind you they were already making my order before she turned to them. They glanced over at me I'm like great now it's even more awkward. You can tell when someone is saying something about you in another language. It's very common with people that's bilingual. I work in the customer service field myself it's not hard to read the room. That is very unprofessional and rude. At least let me leave before you start your banter, especially if there was a little tense moment earlier. I couldn't care less about what was said. The fact is you don't give a customer an attitude, then go and start talking about them while they're there. Not even an apology , hey I'm sorry for the mix up earlier. Alright here we go again. I don't understand how a manager can refuse to refund a bowl after we told them that the rice taste soapy? Yup that's right whoever made the rice forgot to rinse the water they cook the rice with or something? Rice had a strong aroma of soap and tasted like soap! Tried WaBa Grill the other day in my honest opinion it was subpar at best. I asked for my sauce on the side because they said their sauce was kind of like teriyaki sauce and I personally don't like teriyaki so I was disappointed when I opened it up and there was teriyaki style sauce all over my salmon. I also didn't get to have any veggies with my food because they ran out I went late though so not holding it against them. I honestly barely ate the food the first day because it was kind of bland besides the Teri style sauce which I didn't enjoy but I did end up adding my own ingredients and making a really good fried rice with the leftovers the next day so that was a plus. There isn't much to mention about the Customer service they took my order and checked me out; I will say that the girl who checked me out took the time to recommend a sauce and didn't rush me even though it was near closing time. read more

It is a nice change of pace from the average fast food restaurant. I don't have a WaBa Grill at home and wanted something other than burger and fries while I was away on business. I stumbled across WaBa Grill while walking around the shopping plaza and thought it looked good enough to stop in. I was instantly greeted by a cheery young woman behind the counter and plexiglas barrier. She explained to me what they did so I ordered a shrimp and rice bowl. She rang me up and then I went to wait. It wasn't a long wait but I have to say it was encouraging it wasn't instant. Made me think everything was nice and fresh. I waited maybe ten minutes and then received my to-go order. It was a fine meal - this wasn't the best I have ever eaten but for what it is it was amazing. I honestly hate writing these reviews but because of the service we received, I think it's a must. So we had ordered two salads and two bowls. As always the bowls were fine hence why I left some stars. As for the salads, we received two house salads. At first glance the salads seemed alright at the most. The bowl was filled with nothing but lettuce with two tomatoes to decorate the top and a couple pieces of carrots scattered around the bowl. Not mixed in. Now here's the worst part. As we went on to eat the salad, there was nothing but rotten/old veggies in the middle of the salad. It was clear that they were trying to hide it within the bowl and not just in one but both bowls. To top things off when we informed the employee, all she said was that she was a new worker and smirked looking at our old veggies that we showed her. A shop located in a large shopping center with Target, Marshalls, and a lot of shops. This location is in a corner of the property with Five Guys and Farmer Boys in close proximity. This was my first time trying Waba Grill, though I have had many of the similar style restaurants that serve grilled meat over rice in bowl. The cashier was friendly as it was later in the night, and the food seemed fresh and was mostly warm when served, with the exception mentioned below Got the Waba bowl and dumplings. The chicken was good, though the steak was a bit dry and pretty finely chopped so couldn't really tell the quality of it. The dumplings were disappointing as they took the time to make them fresh by boiling and then frying them, yet when I got the order, half were freshly pan fried and pipping hot and half were cold and obviously had been sitting around. Why would you take the time to make fresh ones and then give the customer old ones which had been sitting out, even though you just made fresh ones. Just an example of terrible service and either poor management or hopefully just that single employee. Based on that alone, I can't recommend this location and likely would not return if passing through again. Be sure to ask if ALL your food will be fresh if ordering multiple items including dumplings. read more

They have Vegan options, vegetarian options, as well as Brown Rice. If you want a healthy option for your drive, or you live in the area, I highly recommend this business. I have been to the Waba Grill three times and the first two times were great.. but OMG. Here's what happened...I went to WG yesterday about 6pm. I ordered a chicken bowl and half way through the bowl I was stabbed in the roof of my mouth with an object that looked like a toothpick. I pulled the toothpick out my gums, placed it on a napkin, took pictures of the object and went to show the cashier. She was very pleasant as she initially tried to tell me it was a carrot. I told her to look closer and touch it. She said "oh" she walked away went to speak with Evan (the manager) who was approximately 4 feet from me. They spoke to each other in Spanish then the cashier came and asked me if I wanted my money back. Ofcourse I said "yes". Meh. That really describes our lunch at Waba. I was not too excited about the choice in new dining in our area, but anything new deserves a fair chance. They have been open for about 5 weeks now and it was pretty full for 11 am on a friday. Service was nice, but lets just say not the brightest. I got the salmon veggie bowl, subbed veggie for rice, 50 cent. Had she told me it was also 50 cent to add veggie I would have done that, not great service. My husband got a chicken and brown rice (upcharge) and a steak and white rice bowl. They switched the meats on accident and when I saw her start to take her hands to grab a fistful of meat and put it on the other rice I was appalled and told her to just leave it. Dispite the fact that he said the chicken tasted horrible and the brown rice was undercooked, the food cold in general, what he said pretty much sums it up. I'm all for healthy food, but it shouldn't taste like nothing. The only flavor is a sugered up teriyaki sauce which wouldl eliminate the whole health factor again. There are too many ways to add flavor and taste while still being healthy not have to eat like this. The steamed veggies raw and cold, my salmon was ok but not the best quality. I was charged twice for the same meal because of the pos system which kinda bothered me a little but the cashier took care of it and said I would be refunded in so many business days. I Never have I been a fan of teriyaki until discovering this hidden gem. I am a huge fan of their bowls with brown rice, veggies, half chicken and half beef. Everything is always fresh. The veggies are served crisp and fantastic. The meats have delicious flavoring that makes it hard to stop eating. Also, their brown rice is cooked to perfection. I am a huge fan of the assorted sauces for their was creations. Their waba sauce is a nicely spiced red sauce that compliments anything that you order. I cannot help but mixing that sauce with the sriracha and extra teriyaki to make a delicious flavor combination. This is a great place for a healthy lunch on the go. They are fast, no frills and inexpensive. Having said that I am unimpressed with this outlet because the place was dirty. The bathroom was nasty, the dining room had dirty napkins on the counter, on the floor and many of the tables had not been wiped down.
