Unfortunately this was a very filthy establishment. Everything was dirty. The bathroom was disgusting, no toilet paper, no paper towels, stains, etc. All the tables were dirty, no napkins anywhere. She was friendly and conversational and gave me good recommendations when I couldn't decide what to get. I came on a date, and we are big fans of waba grill and not only did we expierence terrible service the quality of the food was unacceptable. I took pictures of the avocado that was not cut, and when asked to cut it the appearance of the product didn't look appetizing. Also in one of the bowls they provided what was suppose to be a waba bowl, only looking like a steak bowl with a teaspoon of chicken. Not only that the meat was not even cut up properly. An easy way to describe is like healthy fast food ... The menu is easy to ready and self explanatory they have chicken, steak, shrimp, and a few other eats to choose from. I went with the shrimp veggie and rice bowl. You can choose from whit or brown rice i went with brown. My friend did the same except with chicken and that bowl was about $3 less and i have to say i like it more than the shrimp. I did not like that the shrimp were in my bowl still with the tails. However I felt like they give plenty of shrimp considering that shrimp is more costly. At first site the bowl does not look like it will be filling, but it sure was. I was beyond full after i was done and stayed full. Best part i did not feel guilty because i ate something bad. The girls at the register were lit smiling they did not look like they wanted me asking questions considering that it was obvious it was my first time there. This place is fine--that's it. We ordered chicken bowls--brown rice--no green onions. There were four of us and the order didn't come out quite right. One bowl had green onions, two bowls had brown rice, two of the four bowls had all white meat chicken... it was all sort of wonky. Nothing that ruined our lunch--but not exactly what we wanted. They played a weird mix of music--Avril Lavigne one moment, crazy trance/techno the next... and they had Fuel TV on in the corner. I dig the "Help Yourself" condiment station (lemon slices in little plastic baggies!) but overall the experience was average. I'd go back--if I were in the area. I ordered on Door Dash and the bowls were terrible. They each had barely any sauce and they didn't send extra sauce with the order. The avocado I paid extra for was hard and not ripe. We normally get good food from them and I have left good reviews but last night's (07/29/21) food was awful. The pieces of broccoli were huge, in a bad way, and under cooked. Simple and healthy -- Visited Waba Grill w/my mom, sister & grandma after leaving Lowe's. :) I had the Shrimp Rice Bowl which was very, very good. The shrimp(9) had a teriyaki baste which added nothing but goodness. I decided to try the wasabi sauce which tasted good and need only but a drop; more if you're brave. The portion was just right and filling as it carried me right through to dinner. Definitely recommend and can't wait to try the salmon next time! =) read more

I love me some Waba, but unfortunately this location was so dirty and the staff was unprofessional. The floor was so sticky, it's as if I was walking on gum. I watched as they dropped my food on the counter and proceeded to put it back in my bowl, then drop the forks on the floor and put them back with the other forks, throwing one in my bag. What seemed like family of the young man working, kept walking in to exchange keys, and the staff were dressed as if they just rolled out of bed. I finally got my food, and the white meat chicken looked like tuna. I would have asked for a refund, but I honestly wasn't sure if the staff was capable, so I Ieft. I'm not sure why this location of Waba Grill has such low ratings. I've been coming here since they opened and I've never had a problem. Their food is not only convenient and fast, it's actually really healthy! I always order the kids chicken bowl and I get it with brown rice and veggies. I do the kids size because the regular one is way too big for me and I never end up finishing it. Their brown rice is really good and has the perfect amount of flavour I never have to worry about it being too salty. Their veggies are always fresh and they cook their chicken perfectly. I've had their steak before too and it's really good as well. The restaurant itself is really clean and the employees are super friendly! It is a little pricey but not really if you think about the quality of their ingredients and the fact they don't drench everything in oil. I will defiantly be back :) read more

Just had a negative experience at the Waba Grill on Highland Ave in Highland, Ca just down the street from Patton State Hospital. I went to the restaurant at lunch and ordered a steak and brown rice. Took it back to my office at the hospital. Initially I noticed the bowl was not full but I let that go because I was hungry and did not feel like driving back to the restaurant. When I began to eat the rice was hard and crunchy, basically severely undercooked. I was starving and tried to eat it but ultimately could not. I packaged the remaining to return after work for a refund. After work I returned to the restaurant and explained the situation. They brought the manager over. The manager, badge named Herman, said he would replace the bowl. I explained it was now the end of the day and I was headed home so I preferred to have my money returned. He said he could not refund me because some of the food had been eaten. I again explained this was lunch time, I was starving and tried to eat it but couldn't. He then says return the food and I'll return your money. I asked, angry at this point, how do you expect me to do that? And he directs me to the bathroom. I ask him you expect me to defecate and return the food. He says yes. I said again, you want me to shit and return the food? He again says yes. I am livid at this point and tell him I need his full name, the managers name and district manager or owner's name. His only reply was "I am the manager" and he tells me to leave or he will call the police. I tell him refund my money and give me the numbers and I will leave. He then calls the police. I said I will wait here for them, this is a civil matter not criminal, and I tell him I'm angry but not threatening. He calls the police and gives them a description of a black man in the store who refuses to leave because he hasn't received a refund. I don't know what the police said but he hangs up. I then again ask for his name, and the district manager or owner. He refuses the refund again and tells me I am trying to rob them because I want a refund and won't return the food. He again calls the police and tells them the store is being robbed. This is a huge problem, he's now called the police and told them a black man is in a store in Highland, CA trying to rob the restaurant. This is like setting me up to have the police come in guns drawn, who knows what could happen then. I start recording him and he finally gives me a refund but again refuses to give me his name or owner's name. read more

A worker called my wife a f'n b!t@h... So my family walks in and there were maybe three people eating in the restaurant at the time. We walk up to the front and have to wait a minute while three kids are hanging out in the back crowded around a cell phone. Finally, a young lady walks up with no smile, takes our order in a mechanical fashion and starts making the food. My daughter had ordered the salmon veggie bowl, so I could see the worker plop the salmon on the grill. What the other two workers were doing, I have no idea, since the young lady was making the food all by herself. Fast forward five minutes, I'm glancing over to where the salmon is and I notice that it hasn't been flipped, a couple of seconds later, I see flames rising two feet above the salmon for a good 5-10 seconds. I get up to see if they're going to do something, and finally the girl turns around, notices the flames, and complains to the two coworkers that they're not helping. She picks the fish up, looks at it for a second, and then dumps it on the waiting plate of rice and veggies and says our order is ready. Understandably, I'm worried and as I pick up the plate, I take a look at the fish to see that parts of it were turned into charcoal. I take it back to the wife to show her and she immediately gets up and takes it back. She tells the girl that it's burned, the worker doesn't apologize, doesn't say anything or even look at the food, just takes it and puts another piece of salmon on the grill. She then turns to a coworker, and mimics, 'It's burned... f'n b!t@h", all within hearing distance of my wife. My wife got upset and asked if she had a problem, the girl turned and replied that she wasn't talking about her. I joined the conversation and asked for a manager, which there weren't any around, but there was an older worker there hiding behind a corner. She gets up and doesn't apologize, but does tell us that she can't give us refunds. While this is happening, the young lady starts taking an industrial grill brush and starts cleaning the grill, right next to the cooking salmon, spreading who knows how many random pieces of old, meat flavored charcoal onto the fish. I "asked" what she was doing, and the older worker finally turned and asked one of the useless workers in the back to make it and told the girl to finally sit down. A new piece of salmon goes on the grill and my wife stays up front to make sure no boogers or other contaminants gets into the food 'accidentally'. We finally get our food and walk out. tldr: girl burns our salmon, calls my wife a f'n b!t@ch for returning it, no refunds or apologies. We've eaten here before because the food is relatively healthy, and I have overlooked the usual disinterest of the staff, but this was just over the top. read more

Once again the owners of this Waba Grill has come through with flying colors. They also own the wonderful Yucaipa Waba Grill as well. The food is way GOOD and very stomach friendly. This Waba Grill hires some of the best people from the area to work their stores. They are always friendly and happy. This Waba Grill just like the Yucaipa store, has a feeling of family and has a very clean and funky decor. This is a great place to go and take your whole family for very good wholesome meal. This time, I ordered a rice, veggie, and chicken bowl and asked for white meat only, which cost extra. For the extra money I got less chicken than a regular bowl and it was shredded and dry. WaBa Grill fills an interesting niche, and fills it well. Its not easy to find food that is both good tasting as well as fairly good for you. This newer addition to Highland's food scene is a happy exception! Located in the Highland Crossroads center, conveniently right off the 210 between Highland and Redlands; WaBa Grill is, essentially, a Teriyaki house. They feature delicious dishes - bowls, plates, and salads featuring fresh and delicious meats and veggies. Lean cuts of beef and chicken; fresh portions of salmon and shrimp are coupled with yummy steamed veggies and rice (both white and brown). The food is very fresh and often chopped/prepared right then when its ordered, and the sauces they include with compliment the food very well. Everything is delicious. The decor is rather interesting.. rich, vibrant almost dayglow neon oranges, yellows and greens. The place has always been clean, however. The only thing detracting a star from here is the price. I personally feel the the food is about 1 or 2 dollars per entre overpriced on average - though every so often you can find coupons in the mail that bring the prices down to reasonable levels. When this place first opened it was good. I've given it a few try over the last 3 years or so and it's just gross. The meat is chewy and fatty and I have to spit most of it out. You also only receive a small amount of meat. NOT worth $9 trust me. Plus I went early, around 11 a.m. and the floor was filthy! There's no way it would get that dirty that early in the morning especially during a time when dining isn't allowed indoors. Take the drive to the Redlands Waba, the quality is better and it's clean.
