I am a huge fan of their bowls with brown rice, veggies, half chicken and half beef. Everything is always fresh. The veggies are served crisp and fantastic. The meats have delicious flavoring that makes it hard to stop eating. Also, their brown rice is cooked to perfection. I am a huge fan of the assorted sauces for their was creations. Their waba sauce is a nicely spiced red sauce that compliments anything that you order. I cannot help but mixing that sauce with the sriracha and extra teriyaki to make a delicious flavor combination. This is a great place for a healthy lunch on the go. This is a place I go to regularly for lunch if I'm working in the area. I love getting their steak and veggie bowl, which feels like a good balanced meal. I've been to 2 other WaBa Grills and they were not good. 1 location had soggy rice and drenched my meat and veggies in sauce. Another location had overcooked veggies and mediocre rice. I think the owners are Korean and maybe that's why the rice is always cooked right. Also they put the right amount of sauce on the meat and cook the steamed veggies well too. If WaBa corporate has people who do quality control for their locations, they should hire the owners of this location. read more

These people are beyond rude! Twice now, I've come here over there course of a few weeks and essentially the same thing has happened. The first time was about 8:10p one evening. I walked in and ordered two plates and was told that instead of getting the chicken/beef combo, I needed to take what was left which was beef because they didn't want to cook more chicken and waste the beef that was left over considering the 8:30p closure. In what service business is this okay?! I arrived 20min before closing time - it's not the customer's fault to properly project their leftover materials each day vs the demand of the customer. I could understand if I arrived 5min prior to closing. The second time was today at 8:15p. I ordered three plates the same way as last time. After the cashier put the order in the register, an older man came from the back asking her a question in another language. They talked for a minute or so and then he literally did a heavy sigh right in front of me and walked to the back and came out with chicken. Then an older woman came from the back and continued to talk in another language and said 8:30 in English, so I'm guessing she was communicating to not sell food that's already made if it's close to 8:30p. If I could rate 0 stars I would! The customer service here is so bad I called and asked to speak to a manager and was spoken to so rudely for no reason. I ordered 6 items and had a few made incorrectly and when I told the manager this she disagreed stating she made every order correctly because she "remembers" then going on to say I only ordered 3 mini bowls when my receipt and the food delivered shows the contrary. I received my complete order but was missing sauces, veggies, incorrect drinks and white rice came instead of the brown rice. She then went on to say "I don't care you eat it!" In regards to what she kept assuming was "free" food that I actually did order and pay for. She then asked for my number to call me back and hung up on me without any resolution to the issue. She kept addressing someone there with her speaking in another language and saying my name over and over which made me feel uncomfortable because I didn't know what she was talking about. I've been coming to this place for over 4 years because, it's close to my house. And the food is pretty good. However, the customer service here is the worst. The absolute worst. The owners don't really talk to customers except for the customary hi and goodbye. Which tells you that they only care about money. Anyways, I ordered the Waba plate like usual and they gave me white rice instead of brown rice. I didn't realize it until I was already at work. I called them and the lady said that she would give me another Waba plate free. I came back a couple of days later and as soon as I walked in there she started arguing with me and saying that it was not her fault. We went back and forth for about 5 minutes. Incredible!!! Can there really ever be a healthy version of the standard teriyaki chicken bowl? I guess so if you are buying into the WaBa story. They announce it in all their corporate advertising, "Your partner for healthy eating!" No oil used in cooking, cooked fresh to order, brown rice available, no MSG yada yada yada.... Tonight I tried the Half-Half bowl with brown rice, chicken and steak. It took me back to when I dated Terry Aki. I think it was my senior year of high school and the first time I had ever tried brown rice. Terry was insistent that I get off the white rice bowls and MSG filled noodle soup habit. Funny I don't remember being a fatty back then. Anyways WaBa's chicken was a nice mix of light and dark meat. The teriyaki sauce was pretty good with a nice thickness that stuck to the chicken instead of being soaked up by the rice. The steak was delicious, it reminded me of the shoyu mom made in Hawaii, not too sweet and not too salty. The brown rice had a nice texture but I think I'll stick to steamed white rice next time. When ordering, I was torn between the combo and the salmon bowl. I opted for the chicken/steak combo because salmon can be tricky especially if cooked on a char-grill. While I was eating one of the owners brought out a sample of the salmon for me to try. The fillet was firm yet still very moist. The char and thick teriyaki sauce did not over power the flavor of the fish one bit. I will be sure to order on the next visit! Service is fast and friendly, the prices are in line with most teri-house/Hawaiian BBQ joints and the menu is pretty basic. I do want to note that WaBa took over the old L&L location and really cleaned it up! I'll be missing my kalua pork plate but I guess I'll be healthier in the long run. This place was great. Stopped here before a road trip and I will say that I was surprised. The food here was very fresh and I actually felt good eating this fast food. We ordered the beef and chicken bowl which was a perfect portion of rice to meat. The chicken was skinless and very lean, but still moist. The beef was great as well. Pros: **The Food is made fresh once ordered and not pre cooked **Easy to call ahead and pick up and dine at home **Offers Shrimp, Salmon, Steak, Ribs and Chicken along with Vegetables ***************************************************** Cons: **Tough parking at this location during the lunch hour. You may have to park under ground which is a hassle for a quick bite to eat. **The dining room is very small and only has a small table in the middle and a few tables on the side. Not a great place to dine to catch up with a friend. **Splenda is not carried, but just drink water **Did not see a bathroom for customers ******************************************************* If you're craving a good rice bowl (outside of panda express) with fresh flavors and several different protein options then stop by Waba for a quick bite to eat. The flavors are very good and the meals are enough to fill you up. Just be prepared to hunt for parking between 11:30-1 pm. Monday-Friday. My neighborhood teriyaki house. Not sure why I never bothered to stopped by here for lunch until recently. It looks like it is run by Japanese people. The salmon bowl was great and they even have brown rice. If you're looking for healthy fast food. This place is great! The salmon was so moist and despite being a chain, their salmon was 100 times better than PF Chang's (a place I'm not sure still exists and don't know why people patronize that restaurant). The salmon was cooked to perfection glazed in teriyaki sauce which didn't overpower the flavor of the fish. Highly recommended if you haven't tried it! read more

I'm not sure why this place is one $. I paid 8.50 for a salmon veggie bowl including tax which to me is a two $$ lunch at a generally "to go" place. This place is across the street from my work but I only eat at it once a year, if that. They limit your teriyaki intake to two-three very small plastic containers of teriyaki. It leaves me with half a bowl of dry plain rice and veggies. Today I asked to use their squeeze bottle behind the counter to put my own amount of teriyaki, I probably put 3-4 teaspoons worth in my bowl. They looked at me like I was eating the store. If I'm going to pay almost $9 for lunch, I would really like to enjoy my meal. You should not be limited on teriyaki sause at a teriyaki place. Ironically if I didn't feel like they were trying so hard to keep their margins, I would eat here much more often, increasing their profits. Someone with shellfish allergy doesn't want to consume something that they didn't order in the first place. I was starving after work and after dropping off some sewing (not to be confused with sewer... hahaha!) work... I decided that I needed to eat something! I've driven by this place numerous times (since it's situated right on Ventura... right across from that new Village Walk ::think Whole Foods:: in Tarzana)... There also wasn't an annoying lot attendant... so that was much appreciated. So I found a spot right in front...and on the window it says something about being "Your partner for healthy eating!" You know... that's usually a turn off for me. hahaha. I'm half-joking... but in this day and age, "healthy" has become pretty synonymous for "unappetizing"... or "lack of taste". So I wander in...stare at the menu for a few minutes and then decide. The lady at the register was extremely nice and polite. I also had my food in under 5 minutes... so that was also appreciated... since I'm a multi-tasker and I'm always doing 10 different things at once. Now back to the food, I had the half and half bowl... half chicken and half steak. I figured I was safest that way, considering if I didn't like either, I'd still have half of the other to eat. I don't really care for brown rice... so I had mine with white... but they encourage brown rice here. Anyway, it was really good. The rice was hot. The sauce was perfect... and I figured, you know the next time, I could decide whether I'd rather have a chicken or a steak bowl. This is my inner monologue: "Hmm... I think I like the chicken better. I'll get that next time..." ::munch munch munch:: "Actually, the steak is pretty good too..." So in the end, I actually couldn't decide which I liked better. They were both really tasty and quite honestly, they balance each other out nicely. Neither was too dry, over-cooked or undercooked or gristle-y. They were both tasty! Also, the chicken/steak to rice ratio is perfect. I love Waba Grill. It's my go to often times. But the last two times I ordered from there, I received the wrong order. The first time was through doordash so i chalked it up to the driver grabbing the wrong bag. I brushed it off my shoulders. This last time, i went into the store and still I received the wrong order. I didn't look at it before I left on my way but when I did it was too late. I couldnt go back and replace it. I called the store right away and all they could tell me is if I dont go back there is no nothing they can do. But that's wrong. Amazing! If you like teriyaki chicken you have to try Waba Grill. I haven't been to the other locations so I can only vouch for the Tarzana one. The owner works the register and he's super nice. The ambiance isn't anything nice, but the food really makes up for it. I was surprised at the traffic coming in and out of the place since it's a small place and in a strip mall. Most people seemed to be getting take out. The chicken teriyaki bowl with brown rice is soooo good.. I can eat that everyday...but I'd probably be ten pounds heavier lol. Today was my FIRST visit to Waba and it definately will not be my last. As a matter of fact I am still in the parking lot putting my (now) empty bowl in the used bag. I couldn't make it out the lot it's so good. The young lady that took my order was so pleasant and nice when taking my order, and when it was ready she had it in a bag that already had a couple sides of sauce, a fork and some napkins and walked them to my table where I was sitting. My favorite healthy japanese fast food spot in the valley. Everything on the menu is great. Fresh ingredients. Everything is really nicely done here. The owners are here everyday and really take care of their customers. Very clean and healthy atmosphere. Reasonable prices. Healthy portions. Boneless, skinless grilled chicken on brown rice. With a side salad and orange slices. The sauces are excellent too. I come here once or twice a week for dinner and lunch. Plenty of free parking. I notice all of their customers are regulars. Although my favorite teriyaki place resides in Torrance, this place is a VERY close second. I just discovered it and I'm so glad I did. This restaurant prides itself on being healthy and I love that. What I love even more though, is that it doesn't compromise flavor for it's healthiness. EXCELLENT. The sauce has a slight ginger ting to it, but it's enjoyable. The salad dressing is delicious as well, similar to that of my favorite place in Torrance. I just found out that the Chatsworth location is like 7 minutes from my work. I'm so excited. Very Fresh and Delicious! I entered the restaurant, eyes locked on the menu above, and zoned in on my choice. I wanted something filling, spicy, meaty, and healthy. I went with the chicken veggies bowl as it was the perfect combination of everything I was looking for. One of the best decisions I made of the day! The chicken veggie bowl came out within 5-7 minutes. I immediately gorged everything in the delicious spicy sauces. The chicken was hot, the rice was banging, and the veggies looked beautiful.
