I called Wacker at around 6:00 pm yesterday and left a message. The water heater they installed 18 months ago was no longer heating the water. They returned my call at 8:00 this morning, had a technician at my house by 10:15, and I had hot water by 11:00 after the tempering valve was replaced. Mixed feelings about this business. I called with a question about water heater and because I wanted to replace my old yet still reliable sump pump with a new model plus battery backup. To my surprise, one of the Wacker family members answered and /*seemed*/ very knowledgeable. Recommended against the water heater I wanted and also to my surprise, they had a fixed-price quote for the sump pump job. I should have been suspicious, but scheduled the work. They (a lead and assistant) arrived as scheduled and started the work. While they were working, I asked for a separate repair which they agreed to do. Then the lead plumber suggested an additional upgrade, which I agreed to since it seemed reasonable. *Sadly, the pump recommendation did not discuss any options (and I did not thoroughly explore) and when I realized, it was "too late" to change to the option I would have wanted. Also the blending of helper tech working on the fixed-price job while the lead did the other repairs led to some overcharge. Last, the ticket stated they had 'reviewed' the pump operation and preventive maintenance with me, which did not happen. The office manager took 1% ($40 !?!) off my bill, but said she could not make a further resolution. All in, the work was done well, but EXPENSIVE and not to my liking. Though it wasn't urgent, the water heater was installed within a week of my call. It was a tight fit going into my only closet located underneath the stairs but no gripes or complete. We asked them to completely replace the kitchen sink system. Larry came out and just modified the system. We live in this house and has been have many lumbers came and modified but it is still leak ( because the pipe disjoint since when we run the garbage disposal and it shake. This is the reason we hope to redo the system and use the pipe that glued not the twisted one). Not sure why they don't listen to customer need. I called them and they said they will come out and redo but we have to pay for the extra work. I will not recommend this place since I don't feel like I am be listened. They also response very unreasonable that every thing can leaks after 30 days ?? If you trust your work why don't you just extend your guarantee?? read more

We called Wacker Plumbing to fix two things in our house: 1. water to the washer, 2. a broken faucet handle. Water to the washer was an easy fix - reset the GFI circuit and connect the hot water. The broken faucet appeared to be an easy fix, but it later turned out to be more complicated. Wacker Plumbing replaced the faucet handle and said the job was complete. Later, in the invoice, we saw a note from the plumber recommending replacing the faucet assembly due to stiff valves. This was never mentioned while the plumber was at our house. We definitely would have gone with the recommendation to replace the faucet assembly. A week later, the faucet broke again. The cost for these two repairs was $160. Although we didn't have the best experience with the actual plumbing job, customer service was outstanding. The scheduling person, Gail, was super friendly and helpful. Wacker Plumbing was also understanding when managing scheduling conflicts. read more

Discovered a pinhole leak in a copper pipe in my crawlspace. Called several other local plumbers -- most said they'd send an estimator out. Wacker sent a tech who replaced the pipe and several rusty valves in about an hour. Arrived quickly, great service, tidy clean-up, and a reasonable bill. I just bought a 50-year old home and had some reasonably complex work to be done - run a couple gas lines for new appliances, which required permitting, and replace some old faucets. The two guys that came were extremely professional, competent and helpful. They even helped with another issue while they were here. I would have loved to have gotten an estimate for this company since they came highly recommended from my neighbor, but apparently they don't need my business. I called to schedule an estimate to replace a sink trap in a bathroom and generally look over the exposed pipes during a remodel to see if the 45+ year old pipes needed an upgrade. I barely got my request out before they told me that they weren't interested in my project. I suppose it wasn't a large enough job for them. At least the person who answered the phone was pleasant enough. I called Wacker because they did some good work for us years ago. Brian and his son Ben came out and to replace our HW heater and sump pump. They were efficient, professional, thorough and nice guys! In the process we discovered a completely unrelated problem (90 year old house!). My water heater went bang last night. I started calling for anyone who could come and diagnose. I called Len the Plumber (don't call!) who came and told me I needed a new water heater and quoted $3500 (which I knew was too high). But, at least I knew that I needed a new one and started calling for quotes. Wacker were the cheapest quote (and over $1000 cheaper than Len the Plumber), and came the same day. I had a leak that I was sure came from a second floor shower, but Ben quickly diagnosed it as a cracked wax seal on a second floor toilet. He repaired the toilet and when I asked if he could look at a shower that no longer dispensed hot water, again he quickly determined that it as a bad cartridge. What impressed me the most was the respect that was shown to me by Ben and they manner in which he explained what he was doing. Additionally, he was very clean and neat and used drop cloths and disposable paper towels to make sure that everything was as clean as when he showed up. I was pleasantly surprised at the price for the two services that I received. Wacker Plumbing impressed me enough that I immediately added their phone number to my contacts list in my cellular phone. So I just called about getting a new electric water heater and the price was pretty high then i asked about the warranty that got the standard six year part warranty that's fine but the labor warranty 30 days. That was the worse labor warranty I've ever been offered especially for the price I was quoted my thought and I never used them if they do good work they should offer at least a 1 year labor warranty for the price I was given I had other companies that are well qualified 10year parts and labor the lady on the phone was nice that I the only reason for the three star rating otherwise it would of been a 2 star. Again I didn't use them so I can't speak to the quality of there work. read more

I had used Wacker Plumbing in the past and had been very satisfied with their service. However!!! This time all I needed was for them to repair a leaky faucet in the bathroom. The man they sent out fiddled with the faucet for a while and then announced that the leak was really in the wall and that he would have to tear out the tiles to fix the leak. And because the leak was in the wall, the entire structure behind the wall and tub was probably rotten and would have to be re-done. So, according to this person, I was looking at a complete bathroom remodel with a new tub unit. I refused the offer and called a different plumber. Surprise!! There is no wall damage and no floor damage and no leak in the wall --- just a leaky faucet that was repaired in a few minutes. I will never again call this company for any service at all. read more

I was getting a lot of water hammer through the pipes, so I checked the water pressure at my hose spigot and it was a whopping 110 PSI... I went to the pressure control valve, turned it down, but the pressure didn't drop any at all... At this point I got on Angie's List, found all the great reviews for Wacker Plumbing, and gave them a call... I got a quick appointment for early the following week, and Jamal showed up right on time... I told him the problem, and he knew right away it was a bad water pressure control valve... He changed it quickly, and the pressure check showed my water pressure was back down in the normal range... We haven't had any water hammer since... I was very pleased with Wacker Plumbing... Making an appointment was a breeze, they were right on time, and they fixed my problem, and did so quickly... The only thing I question is the price of $320.00, which I consider a bit steep... I would think a water pressure control valve is $100 or less, meaning the 45 minutes to an hour the plumber was here cost me $220.00... That's pricey, which costs them a star... Maybe those valves are a lot more than I think - I don't know... But in the end, the job got done right and my problem was solved... this was my second time using Wacker plumbing, the first time was a kitchen faucet replacement. I called on aMonday, could have had someone later in the day but I had to head to work. Explained that my pipes were "banging" when flushing the toilets and especially loud when the washing machine came on. I made an appointment for the next morning for the 8-10 window. They told me over the phone it's probably the pressure release valve, cost $355. He showed up at 9, assessed the problem, yep the PRV, he replaced it all good within a 1/2 hour. I only gave them 4 stars because I looked up the price for the PRV he installed (gave me the instruction booklet) and it's about $60. I think $300 for 1/2 install is pricey, but the job is done and I couldn't do it. So, Thank you Wacker Plumbing. I would recommend them. read more

Wacker Plumbing helped me out with an expansion tank for my hot water heater. In November, I had purchased a new HWH from Sears and had their third party install it. This was a big mistake - lesson learned. I was told I didn't need an expansion tank despite having one... and of course when I went to list my condo and sell it, a home inspector called it out. I should've kept it there and gone against the Sears installer. I re-engaged that third party and the next technician didn't know how to install an expansion tank based on my setup. That's when I knew I needed a professional that knew what they were doing. In came Wacker plumbing, and everything's working. Yes, I had to pay the additional time and materials to Wacker since they weren't originally involved - but I'll be paying Sears a visit due to this mishap.
