This place has pretty good food and beer selection. It's typically packed and it's hard to find comfortable seating. I've been there during football season and we all played musical chairs because the bartender couldn't seem to get the right games on the right TVs. Another disappointing night. Just stopped in for beer and appetizer. Busy, but not slammed, so sat at bar. Very slow and inattentive service. Ordered cheese sticks/motz. There are not cheese sticks, but half rounds,however were way over breaded and grossly over salted. They seem to be sliding downhill as time goes on. read more

Used to come here quite often when I lived in the area. Just now we thought about making the trip across town to go but remembered that at dinner time they can get pretty busy. I called to ask if there was a wait and the woman who answered the phone acted like I just took her allowance away. "Uh, not right now?" Featured On the Food Network Show, Diners Drive Ins and Dives....for it's burgers...Have you ever tried a burger with a fried egg on it ??? well I was too chicken to try it but our friend LOVES It ! mmmmmmm I had the plane burger with the fixings, it was yummy. The burger had a very rich grilled taste and they cook them to your perfection which is nice ! I was a bit disappointed though because my burger was thinner than what I was expecting and it looked like a frozen patty. Would I eat here again ? mmmm....maybe ? My husband had the Rueben sandwich with Coleslaw and fries. He really enjoyed his Rueben.....so that is good. Their coleslaw says it has pineapple in it but I couldn't taste it, it was overly made with too many onions. where's the pineapple ? I love pineapple in my coleslaw. The children's menu is very limited so we ordered my son a regular hot dog. He LOVED it. but what kid doesn't like hot dogs, can't really go wrong there guys. My daughter ordered the 2 mini-burgers off the kids menu and she ate almost an entire one. They were so darn cute I have to say...the fruit cups with the kids meals are not Fresh Fruit :-( bummer. they are the plastic canned type fruit cocktail, it would be nice if it was fresh grapes or something like that. All in all the atmosphere was a great pub feel and the service was very nice...all in all a A-OK lunch, would I come back.............. MAYBE. My family loves the food and we drive from No. Idaho to enjoy it but questioning if its worth it cause our servers get a 1 star as the food gets a 5 star...they just don't go together a grumpy server delivering GREAT food!! Oordered the pretty basic hamburger and salad on 11-10. The hamburger patty was not actually raw in the middle, but definitely not cooked through, which is a MUST for hamburger. It was replaced but the 2nd. one was just barely cooked through. The bun was kind of dry. Service was excellent, friendly, fast. Still, not likely to return any time soon. We came where with family as soon as we arrive into town. I thought the food was overpriced and not that memorable. I had a burger (cannot remember the name) with jalapenos on it--spicy sauce too. I thought the burger was dry and was just a basic pressed patty. Sweet potato fries were mushy and not my favorite. Regular fries were over salty. Not worth the price tag. Our bill ended up being close to $90 for 5 adult burgers/sandwichs, an appetizer and one kids meal with a couple drinks. Not a place I would venture to again. On our most recent roadtrip we sought out food featured on Diners Drive-ins and Dives. Our stop in Spokane was Waddell's Pub which is none of the above!! It's an average Irish pub with a good selection of beer...period. The service is absolutely the worst!!!!! The food is average at best! At least 45 minutes after placing our food order, we not only still did not have our food, but had also not seen our waitress for drink refills or to check in or explain why things were taking so long. I will add that it was not busy when we were there. I finally got up to find our waitress and asked if we would be getting food anytime soon. She was completely dismissive and said "Yeah". After being comletely ignored for another 10 minutes i got up again, went to the bar and asked for the manager. I explained the situation and he assured me that he would look into it. He did come to our table a few minutes later to say that food was on our way. We simply for honesty from him...does that mean its coming now or in 10 minutes. He said one minute.....of course that wasnt close to the truth. So finally we do get our food: The best review/opinion was of the Chicken/brie sandwich. The fries were cold, hard and completely a waste to put on the plate. The rube burger(which is what i ordered) was also a very good burger. Another had the "Lambstrosity". She ate half and left the rest. Average at best. Last in our party had one of the gourmet hot dogs which he said was fine. Very average food. The absolute worst service i have had in a very long time. I will credit the manager with reducing the bill some for the fact that we wasted close to 2 hours from being seated to leaving. Triple D's must have had the beer first. Reuben sandwich was so so with most of the meat only placed on one side of the sandwich. Service was bad and waitress seemed to be put out to serve us. Went to Waddell's to get some "craft" beer and enjoy their usual environment. Upon entering and sitting at the bar, my friend and I were IMMEDIATELY and RUDELY asked by the "cool guy" British bartender "What do you want?" I had no idea yet. I had just sat down and wanted to look at the different beers. He was incredibly rude, short, and gets the award for worst bar tender I've seen. By that, I mean he stopped to check on my friend and I ONE TIME. The only way I got his attention was by staring at him, while he was busy talking to coworkers/the kitchen for 5 minutes. I was trying to order another beer. But because he sucked at being a bartender, I had one drink and left. Pay more attention to your customers or you may not have any. Forget this one! Heard about this dive on the DDD show. Went in to order a burger to go. There were about 6 other customers in the place so they certainly were not busy. As I walked in a voice from the far end of the bar yelled out, "Hi Guy". I sat about half way down the bar and waited, and waited for a menu finally walking to the 'Hi guy' still visiting with two buddies and asked for a menu. "Oh, here you go" he said handing me one from a stack in front of him. Then after waiting awhile longer a young lady asked if she can get me a drink to get started with. I told her I just wanted a burger 'to go' and I'd like a pale ale while I waited. I also requested fresh onions and told her I didn't like cooked (carmelized). Well, guess what? About half way home I began to smell cooked onions. I will say this...the burger was filling, but not very good. After paying over $15 for a burger and beer I was determined to choke it down. Half got thrown away along with all of the pasta salad. What a disappointment! This guy won't be back. I wonder how much they had to pay Guy Fiere for his review. What a waste. read more

Great burger. I have been to Waddell's four times and have liked it every time. The service was more than acceptable and the food is great. I had the Defibrillator burger with ham, bacon, fried cheese, a fried egg, and marinara and it was excellent. My guests ordered the giant burgers and loved them. The fries are frozen, not fresh. I ordered the steak sandwich wrap. Lovely green tortilla, crunchy fresh veggies, but the "steak" was strips of fat! I pulled one out of half the wrap while there, took the rest home to eat the next day. I have been to Waddells in the past and never been disappointed. However tonight was different. Our party of 4 were helped quickly to a table and got our drinks in a reasonable time. It took awhile for the waitperson to take our order. Two other tables were seated after our order was placed, they both got their food before we did and in the meantime the waitperson never came by to check on us. I had the smokin dog - and it was ok - but nothing special. The pasta salad was good but not remarkable. Tonight was a disappointment from my past times there. One of our party was very happy with her meal, one did not finish her burger and the other was not impressed either. I don't know why the change but I hope they go back to the old ways. read more

Huge fan of the decor! Beer bottles of just about every label and brew type hang from the ceiling and are fixed to the sides of the booths, in a classy way. My husband and I shared a caesar salad and a lambstrocity sandwich. So good! The lamb was perfectly cooked with delicous sweet potato fries. And that was quite a tasty salad. read more

We have been going to Waddlle's for several years. Started t the South Hill and was excited when the 5 Mile site opened. The South Hill location has much better food. Hamburgers up on the South Hill had a lot more flavor . and I would give them 5 stars. The 5 Mile restaurant has no flavor in the burgers. We have tried the majority of the burgers and the 5 mile restaurant gets 2 star. Both have some of the best chicken wing in Spokane. The Chipotle wings are the best I've had i the Spokane area. The Ruben is real good. I'm a mustard fan and like dipping my Ruben in different types of spicy Mustard's. Get some other types of Mustard's and try using some seasoning ever some salt and pepper on he burger. read more

I drove all the way up the south hill to have a burger and beer. I arrived at 10:30pm on a friday night to the greeting "you might have time for one drink, we already did last call". I've tried the place twice now. Once with my husband and kid, once on a late night just the hubby and me. First off the service was TERRIBLE both times, and to me if the service sucks there's no point in going. No greeting coming in, the waitress acted like it was the worst thing in the world to have to serve us. The night out with just the hubby and I it took 3 different waiters to Finally bring us our food. Is it that hard really? Is it not a place that serves food? A friend took me to lunch here last week and I have raved about my luncheon choice ever since! We both had the Little R hot dog and though I had been torn between this option and the fish and chips which my friend said were wonderful I was definitely not disappointed. Our waitress was very prompt and courteous, the weather was wonderful and we were able to dine outside! From what we saw of the other people dining here everyone was enjoying the food and atmosphere! The food is always good! One of my favorite places to go. The restaurant is clean and fun. The only thing that I would like to see improvement on is the service. Very spotty. The staff is friendly enough, but depending on who you get or it seems where your sitting, you can be left waiting a long time! So I was brain washed by the Diners Drive Ins and Dives review of this place as well. Dang it, I used to believe that show. It said that Elk Public House was fabulous and it was! Then I drove a long way from where I live to this place. The service, even though many have said is substandard was ok. The Lobster Roll was no better than me going to Albertson's, getting the packaged seafood salad, sprinkling a little cheese on top with a boring white bun and throwing it in a toaster oven for a couple of minutes. Literally, I could have done better just tossing a few tomatoes and some lettuce on it. The sweet potato fries were oh so average. One good thing, my stomach didn't toss and turn as I drove away. I went with my family on May 11, 2013. We were excited to try it out so we each ordered a dish that Guy suggested on Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives. They seated us pretty quickly & our waitress was really nice but it took over an hour to serve two burgers & a lamb dip sandwich. The lamb dip & one burger were terrible. The other burger was pretty good. The wait was extremely frusterating & the food wasn't worth the drive or money. I will never go back to this restaurant. It was a total waste of time.
