That was the best over easy eggs, home fries and toast (cinnamon raisin) I have EVER had !!!

Was in Oswego looking for breakfast. This place is located on a side street and looked to be a tiny place. That was deceiving. Large place with lots of seating. Had standard breakfast. Ham and eggs, very good and excellent service. Highlight was cinnamon raisin toast. As I started to leave I noticed that they had racks of the bread by the door. Bought one for the road. On my next trip I didn't have time to eat, but had to stop to pick up a couple loaves. read more

OMG!!! This place is amazing!!! I ordered the Philly Cheesesteak omelet. It was so delicious. I felt like I was in Philadelphia enjoying A Philly CheeseSteak sangwich. So good can't stop raving about it. I also ordered the chocolate chip pancakes they were HUGE!!! I shared them with my son. The Philly Cheesesteak omelet was served with home fries that were also amazing. Coffee was the best around. The service was amazing our waitress was so helpful and kind. Classic American breakfast diner food, with no healthy options. The blueberry pancakes I got looked kind of messy but tasted really good. I got another plate with eggs, turkey sausage, toast and home fries, all of that was pretty bland and not that good so didn't eat much of it. The booths were comfy and the waitress was so nice and friendly. Overall experience was alright but I wish there were some healthier options. Everything on the menu is fatty, doughy and greasy just like most diners in New York. One thing that stood out to me was that their breads are homemade with no preservatives, I thought that was a step in the right direction. read more

So this review is probably going to sound mean but I'm just being honest. I was in Oswego over the weekend and wanted a good breakfast spot. Wades happened to pop up with the best reviews so I gave it a shot. Unfortunately I was not that pleased with the food. The service was good, it's a small place so the wait was long but that's expected on a Sunday morning at a popular diner. As far as the food goes, there was just no flavor in anything. My pancakes were bland and even the syrup was seemed watery and not good. You do have the option in buying real syrup for an extra 2$. My home fries were bland as well, no flavor, and just kind of a mush with bits and pieces of crisp potatoes. The bacon was really good as well as the eggs. Again, I'm not trying to bash this place. It's obviously very popular with the locals but as an outsider I was not amazed especially with the reviews from previous people. read more

This should be the ONLY diner you visit in Oswego. Period. The service speed was incredible, which is vastly different from any breakfast place in Oswego not named Dunkin'. I recently began liking eggs, you can rip on me for that in the comments, but the garbage omelette I ordered was up there for the best I have had anywhere in that short span. Do yourself a favor and try the cinnamon raisin toast. You can buy loaves to take home, and I regret not doing that. Raisin toast is something I have been a BIG fan of my entire life, but again that menu item was one of the best I have had ever. Recently visited my home town and, as always, Wades was the place to go for breakfast. After looking forward to the visit we were disappointed with the quality of the food. Having visited the restaurant nearly every morning for over 30 years before moving away, we were accustomed to excellent meals that invited us back. Dahl's Diner in Scriba will be my go to place for future visits. Former long time owner Tom Parrish and co-owner and cook John Lagoe had it right. On the morning we visited food arrived cold, the home fries were mushy and tasteless and the raisin bread was nowhere near the flavor and quality of times past. My wife had oatmeal that was like fast drying cement. We ate very little and sadly left disappointed and won't be going back. If this is the number one restaurant in the port city it doesn't say much for the rest. Things change, and Wades joins the never ending list. read more

If you're thing is French toast or pancakes, then this is your diner in Oswego. My preference is omelettes and potatoes, and there they come up a bit short. First they only have American cheese, so if you'd prefer cheddar or mozzarella instead, you're out of luck. My ham and cheese omelette was so watery that upon digging into it, the rest of the plate became saturated. Despite referring to them as home fries, their potatoes are more like hash and when I asked for them to be crispy, they were delivered burnt to the point of tasting like charcoal. While the service is amazing, I'm just not that impressed with the food here and need to keep scouting the local diner scene to find my new regular place for breakfast in Oswego. read more

The food was ok. The potato was very soggy with oil & my rye bread was limp & my son's French toast was too eggy. They messed up my husband's order - he ordered spinach omelet but got mushrooms, which unfortunately he is not a fan of. Overall I would skip this place & cook at home. The place is very busy & perhaps that was the fault of it too. read more

Came by here as our last stop before leaving oswego, definitely loved it! Omelette was super super cheesy, beware but really delicious and hearty. The place definitely gets packed but the waiters/staff all work hard to get the food out on time. We had to wait like 10 minutes to get our seat but customers are usually coming in and out. I had the "garbage omelette" and my boyfriend had the breakfast traditional meal eggs and homefries with bacon. Good food. Cool diner with alot of history. Glad we came here! read more

YES WADES. I didn't discover this breakfast place until my last year in Oswego. I wish I had known about it sooner because it is delicious, but BUSY. Always busy. They leave a whole pot of coffee on your table which is amazing. Service can be slow sometimes because there is usually only one waitress on. There is bar room and then seating towards the back. The place looks like a complete dump from the outside, it is in a trailer. It isn't much nicer inside but the food is delicious, the price is right and oh my gosh their raisin toast is to die for. read more

Went here for the first time after hearing others rave about it. This is a small old-time diner. The building looks like it's been there forever, but it is neat and clean inside. The service was good, and our waitress didn't hover. The coffee was HOT and brought in a carafefor unlimited refills. Our eggs were done to perfection. The portions are quite ample. the homemade breads are top-notch. We even got a loaf of the raisin bread to take home. (It's HUGE!!!) Prices are reasonable. Parking is another story. Wish I lived closer to this place. Came here a few weeks ago while on Vacation for breakfast. I was initially skeptical about this joint but came here cause a few people recommended the diner to me. My first positive sign was the long line. I waited my turn. Dam the place was packed. I was sat down at the bar between two awesome old ladies who kept me company and made small talk(I was by myself). I ordered a meat lovers omelet and not only was it good, but it filled me up and was a fair price. I love this place. Okay Wade's is easily the best place to eat breakfast in Oswego. It's way over on the East Side and not a lot of college kids know about it and it definitely has a lot of local color. But trust me, this is a place where a lot of college kids have to go to during their tenure at Oz. They don't have a liquor license but their beverages are pretty good for breakfast. They have fruit joices, milk, a soda fountain with Pepsi products, and ofc ourse coffee. Their coffee is pretty good but their portions are huge. If you order coffee they bring an entire pot to your table and leave it there. The prices are really low so that makes it good for a lot of people. Plus the portions are HUGE, and when you combine that with what you pay it's a good deal. The quality is fantastic too. The service is really good. The waitresses are really nice and when they take an order they don't even write it down!!!! They're that good at what they do. It looks like a dump on the outside and the inside. Some people even assume that it's been closed for years when they first see it. Plus the parking is terrible, like most other places in Oz, East Side or West. Really?! I don't get all these shining reviews on this place? Just moved to Oswego a few months ago and my husband kept hearing how Wade's was the place to go for breakfast. I took my mother and aunt there this morning and let me tell you, I will not be back! Aside from the fact that the place is very run down and there is minimal parking, the service was HORRID! Our waitress would talk so fast and walk away, we could never get a word in. She never asked us what we wanted to drink, she just assumed coffee. I finally got a Pepsi that I had to talk over her to get before she quickly walked away from us. I never got a refill till the very end and that was very hard to get because she had the attentiveness of a gnat and the friendliness of a king cobra. My mom and I ordered the sausage gravy and biscuits and that was disgusting! The gravy was kind of clear and gelatinous and the biscuits were cold, dry, and super crumbly with very little flavor. The home fries were pretty good and greasy. My aunt got eggs, bacon, and cheese on the home made bread toast which she said was very good. After my mom decided not to eat her biscuits, she ordered some rye toast which again was home made and she loved it. So if you must come here, I suggest ordering their home made bread and stay away from the biscuits and gravy. Bleck! It's not even the dumpiness that bothers me most, it was the rude server and the food quality. I would say those that like it have pretty low standards. Yikes! read more

Today I had a cheese omelet, home fries - splurged and had raisin toast, which was totally worth it! Perfectly grilled, homemade bread with cinnamon throughout. I have been coming here since I was a little kid - so for over 30 years. It's an institution, and it's the measure to which I will ALWAYS judge a good breakfast. Honestly, I won't eat an omelet from anywhere else, it's just not the same. Somehow they make the perfect omelet every time for years and years. Everyone I've ever brought here loves this old time diner. My family, no matter how far we've all moved away manage to all gather here several times a year - cramming into the booth and having the waitress (Tracey) remember without writing them down all our orders flawlessly (party of 10!) Lived in Oswego for many years and never made it to this diner since they're dedicated to breakfast and close at noon daily. That said, this is a great diner and has been the diner everyone recommends in town for as long as I can remember and I finally made it there the other day. Yes, they only take cash but where another review said that was a 'business no-no' I'm quite used to it from living in San Francisco where many business owners simply don't want to pay the extra money per transaction and are keeping things simple and more cost efficient for themselves, I have no problem with that. My father has some serious sentimental attachment to wades, and makes it a holiday celebration event whenever he packs up and makes the quest almost an hour away for breakfast. He talks about their raisin bread French toast with a reverence usually saved for God or the constitution.
