This place is always on point with food & service . We hadnt been in a while and went last night. We had friends and they all wanted crawfish and we were not disappointed. Small towns scare me, but dozens of people have mentioned how good Wade's Place is. I'm a gambler, so I decided to check this place out, that is connected to a Feed Store, in the bustling mecca of Chandler, Texas. Upon entering, I immediately pegged this restaurant as a Roadhouse (You know, the movie with the late Patrick Swayze), with Tv's. It could be a sports bar, but there's no beer. Boooo! The menu is creative, as I've tried the following: Shrimp Po-Boy, Shrimp / Catfish basket, and the Chicken Cordon Blue sandwich. All were very tasty, with generous portions. The prices are kinda' high, but the quality is good, and the portions are large. The fries suck, but you can substitute these for their homemade chips, which are very, very good! Wow. I will be returning here very soon despite living 45 minutes away. Visited Wades Place today based on a recommendation from a friend. I was not disappointed in anything I tried which included the fried catfish, homemade chips (recommend instead of fries), and crawfish. It was nice to finally eat crawfish that were hot and spicy and cooked right at a restaurant. The fried catfish were better than any in Tyler, with very nice batter and not overly greasy. Service was very fast also. You order at the cashier and our food was out in about 7 minutes. Hot, fresh and delicious. Do not hesitate to go to Chandler and eat here because it's in a "small-town". You'll be hard-pressed to find better food anywhere! read more

On most weekends, you'd presume this place gives away free heroin......people just spill out onto the front porch, waiting to order! They've certainly nailed the down-home ambiance.....I'll concede that. I've said for years that any restaurant that gets your money first will never have great table service. I'm not happy that I'm right once again. The food is good; I've never had a bad meal.....that, combined with its location is what keeps this place open. They have big problems with accuracy on their orders.....they always have; about half the time our order is wrong. It's probably the age old issue: people who're pretty good at running a business, but dont know how to run a kitchen. I'll be back; good "fish places" (if you dont know how to differentiate these from seafood joints, I can't help you) are hard to come by. A little slow, a little price for the area, not a lot of ambiance, and sometimes crowded.. but other than that the food is very good and the homemade tarter was very good. Catfish was very good, and cajun offerings was very good (for the area). overall, a good experience and will likely re-visit when we are back in the area visiting family. read more

If I didn't have family in Chandler, I would still drive two hours for the food. This family owned business consistently makes the best seafood I have ever had. Occasionally, I am able to ignore my seafood craving and order one of their famous steaks which easily surpasses any big name steakhouse. read more

Absolutely amazing joint. Great selection of meal choices from the famous crawfish to jumbo fried shrimp to cheeseburgers and it's all great! I have tried almost every thing on the menus and the consistently hit the spot! 10/10 would recommend. First of all, THEY HAD CRAWFISH TAMALES! I have not had those outside of the Fredericksburg annual Tamale Festival. They were great and smothered with ettouffe over white rice served with an ear of corn. The plate was heavy to say the least! This is definitely our most favorite place to eat and our go-to place when family and friends are over. The absolute best, most flavorful food around. The tea is brewed perfectly, the beans are always delicious and free, the shrimp, corn and potato boil are to die for and seasoned perfectly. We've also tried the catfish and it is just as tasty! Excellent! Best seafood in the area! The only downside is that when your food is this good and when they are only open 3 nights a week, the place gets packed very quick. If you come at 6pm, you will have to wait in line and it's a pretty long one but it does move pretty quickly. You can't grab a table until after you order, so if you are a family with you kids that can make things challenging. read more

I'm not quite sure what to give them based on our visit. It's probably fluctuating between a three and four. We stumbled upon this place traveling to Tyler. It was dinner time so I looked on yelp for a place to eat. When you go in there's a sign that says do not sit at a table until you order your food. I think that's a little odd. It was hotter than blazes outside and I was not going to take a chance of being forced to sit out there. Every table was full, there were four families in line in front of us and one table was opening up. For that reason alone I would be a little nervous about going back. We completely broke the rules and my husband sat at the table and trusted me to order something that he liked. We ended up getting two combo plates and teas. The food was good. It wasn't the best seafood I've ever had. Just ever so slightly greasy. The shrimp were large and cooked properly. The tea was really good. I think that the sign just put me off. Great local spot! The food is fantastic! We had the shrimp boil and the crawfish boil. The kids had the catfish. Everything was really good! Fun environment also! The place is BYOB which can make it fun and cheaper for drinks. Only drawback is the long line but it really went pretty quickly and the food comes out super fast. Also they didn't have extra butter for dipping and that was a little disappointing as I love extra lemon and butter on my seafood. We got some Italian cream cake to go and ate it later. I've been following this page for a while now. My family recently moved to Chandler and were really looking forward to getting to finally eat here. We ordered live crawfish for our traditional Memorial Day crawfish boil. When I placed the order, I was told they'd be ready any time after 11. Not once was I told I had to be there by 5 or they'd start calling and harassing you. I even offered to pay over the phone for the inconvenience due to a family emergency that prevented me from being there by 5 and it was such a big hassle I canceled my order and will take my business elsewhere. We'll continue to drive to Big Sandy where customer service is a top priority. PS. It was the owner who called and harassed me the first time. read more

Was in the mood for fresh seafood and this place was perfect. Hubby got crawfish, I got shrimp and my son got a bacon cheeseburger. Love they are byob! Staff is extremely service oriented. Awesome food. We got there about 515 on a Saturday evening and there was already a line. You walk in and get in line to order, they give a number and you find a table. Food comes quickly and is hot and very flavorful. Crawfish, shrimp boudin, and etouffee were what we ordered. Loved the grilled flavor on the boudin, the Crawfish and shrimp were perfectly seasoned, no bland pieces here. We sat outside and got good service for the amount of people there. Will definitely be back when we are in the area. Free beans are good and full of slow cooked goodness. We had plenty left over. read more

This place is off the main drag in Chandler. It's actually 1/2 of a feed store, but don't let that put you off. Wade can throw down some catfish. The breading is fresh, not some frozen and fried crap. The fried shrimp deliver, as well as the free beans. I don't care for the fries, but you can get chips instead, which are pretty good. They have a daily special at lunch, usually under $10 with a drink. read more

By far my favorite seafood place in the Tyler area. I've had everything from the crawfish to the steaks and they do a great job with it all. All of the fried basket combos are awesome! Their catfish and shrimp are the best around. When crawfish is in season they have great crawfish for a good price. It is a nice family atmosphere and you are welcome to BYOB. Wow only 2 reviews for this place!? Wade's. Is. Awesome. Not sure how else to put it. The food is always excellent. I've had everything from the gumbo to the chicken tortilla soup to the fried fish. My favorite dish here is the Grilled Marinated Chicken Strips. Four huge white meat strips and a side to go with. All of the dishes come with very large portions. Don't forget to grab a small bowl of beans over by the drinks as well. We frequent this place for lunch since our office is within a 2 minute walk and we're never disappointed. The fried oysters haven't left my mind since we ate at Wade's place. I found the crawfish and boudin to be a little spicy for my taste but thought the oysters were spot on. I would go back and eat just fried oysters! We requested corn that wasn't spicy for our four and one year old and they both still complained that it burned their mouth. Also, The sweet tea wasn't sweet enough for me. I'm sure its just my love for sugar and not spice. My family loves it and they drive from Tyler weekly. Its a very rugged atmosphere with plywood walls but clean nonetheless. The walls have authenticated autographed jerseys and pictures for sale for half the price of most retailers. Very casual place in Chandler. I had the fried shrimp basket and it was fantastic. Friench fries were some of the best I've ever had. Others in our party had fried fish and fried oysters.
