I had a disappointing experience at Watford's recently. My parents brought me here because they'd had a great experience before, so expectations were high. I was at the bar with my husband and my parents, and I'd had one and a half drinks over the course of the evening, nowhere near intoxicated. We were talking and laughing at a normal volume. At one point the tables around us were so loud I asked the bartender to speak up because I couldn't hear her explaining one of the drink specials. She was gracious about it, moved closer, and said, "I'm sorry, it's ladies night." If anything, that showed how loud the room already was before I said a word. Even my parents, who are the first to tell me if I'm being too loud or out of line, agreed afterward that I hadn't acted out in any way. The owner, Donna Watford, came over and told me to quiet down. I should mention, this isn't unfamiliar territory for me. I've worked in Michelin starred restaurants and I know what's expected of a guest and what isn't. What struck me was the tone and framing of how I was singled out. I wasn't being disruptive or unruly. It felt distinctly like I was being policed for being visibly and audibly gay rather than for actually being too loud. Other tables around us were just as animated and weren't approached. When I told Donna she shouldn't speak to a customer that way, she said, "I can because it's my restaurant." That response told me everything I needed to know. This isn't a business that sees hospitality as a two way street, or values the people paying to be there. I'd think twice before going back, and I'd want other guests, especially LGBTQ+ folks and anyone visiting with family, to know what kind of experience to expect here. read more

Service was ok however when we opened our canned beer we lost a few sips as the beer foamed up and exploded from the can. Beer was probably stored in the heat. The food was decent although the grilled salmon came out crispy, that was a first for me. This caused the fish to be over cooked. We sat outside and the ambiance was great, best part of this visit. Probably won't return as prices were a bit high and the meal was just ok. read more

I LOVE THIS PLACE!! Hubby and I first noticed this place while driving on Getwell Rd and seeing the bistro lights on the roof. I asked the hubs "I wonder what's up there. Do you think it's a rooftop restaurant like they have in Philadelphia or New York?" We are used to rooftop lounges and bars since we are originally from the northeast. So we decided to stop by on a weekday night for a drink and appetizer and it was the perfect night!! Our waitress Kristy was AMAZING! The staff recommended making a reservation for a date night dinner so we did. Two weeks later we visited again and had our first successful date night since moving to the south!! The owner Donna and our waitress Bailey were so sweet!! Oh and the food so good. Best experience ever!! You need to visit!! read more

My husband and I failed to make plans so our 25th anniversary and this place was one of our top 5 date nights restaurants to try. The service was great, our server as well as the owner were very attentive. Our drinks, apps, and entrees were amazing. I was pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. It is on the roof of a building with a cigar shop and has a nice view (doesn't even feel like you're in Southaven). They will take reservations if you put down a deposit, which we did, and our table was ready on time. The staff was very nice and attentive. The menu isn't exactly expansive but the food was good and the drinks were tasty. read more

This place is nice & a great spot for date night. The ambiance is cool, the staff were friendly, and the food was good. Our waitress Jessica was professional, friendly, checked on us routinely, and accommodated us on our menu requests. The only ding stopping me from giving this place a 5 star rating is they need to be more accurate with their menu descriptions. We ordered a Caesar chicken salad and when the order came there was bacon in the salad even though the menu description did not say bacon was included in the dish. We don't dig the swine and hated to send it back for a new salad. Will I be back? Yes! Will I recommend this place to others? Definitely! My husband and I have eaten here a couple of times before when we went this past Saturday we were asked if we had reservations we said no so they went on to tell us that we can be seated but we have to be done in about an hour. Mind you no where does it say that you have to have reservations. While we're eating they kept coming to our table rushing us. Food was good will return. The people was great welcome once we entered.. The only problem I had was uncomfortable seating people with short legs,the stool just doesn't do for them. My legs kept falling asleep. Only better seating was outside were it was VERY HOT! Couldn't really enjoy the great food. read more

Sat on the rooftop and listened to Thomas Rhett and Old Dominion play at the Amphitheater while enjoying a great dinner and drinks (Martinis are awesome). The service is exceptional!! this location is beautiful, but the food is terrible. My husband was there last night for dinner, he returned his plate of food because it was not flavored properly and yet the waitress charged him for an entire meal when he didn't even eat it. plus, they automatically add the tip. My wife and I and a couple of friends were in the Silo Square area and decided to drop in Wadford's Roof Top Grill for a nite cap. My wife and I had been to the location several times when it was under previous ownership but not since the space was reopened as Wadford's, this was our friends first time to visit. To be set the stage, the time was around 9:15, there 4 groups seated at tables, 2 couples seated at the bar, 4 empty chairs at the end of the bar, 2 employees behind the bar and one on the floor, Amy I believe was her name, in the bar area at that moment, and no one at the hostess stand at the entrance. With that setting we walked towards the empty seats at the end of the bar and were greeted with a friendly "The kitchen is closed" from Amy. We responded with an equally friendly "No problem, we're only here for a drink" which solicited a response from Amy of "Well we close at 9:30" to which one of our friends asked if there had been a last call. The employee behind the bar agreed to serve us a round of drinks. Well then... our other friend goes to the rest room which is near the kitchen area and overhears Amy running her mouth about "the group at the end of the bar". Very unprofessional behavior from someone who works in the customer service industry, AT ANY TIME OF THE DAY. In all fairness we did not order food though other reviews of their food look really good, The atmosphere is pretty cool with a great roof top view of a lot of the surrounding area. Customer service however was a miserable fail. People pay for quality food and drink and quality service which, when done correctly, equal great experiences, and will pay just about whatever you want to charge. If you can't provide that near closing time perhaps you should simply tell customers "I'm sorry but we are closed" and save everyone some misery. read more

I've been anxious to try the new place that took this rooftop space vacated by another restaurant. The views and ambience do not disappoint. And, a friend has joined the staff so we were looking forward to seeing her too, but she was out sick the night we visited. We will come back another time. I really, really wanted to love this place. The pictures I've been seeing are wonderful. I wasn't greatly impressed though. The food was OK, the service was OK, nothing really bad about the experience at all. It just did not stand out as anything special. We had water, shared an appetizer, my husband had a steak and I had the fried shrimp. The Baja Corn, Crawfish and Shrimp dip had really good flavor, but there was very little crawfish and if there were shrimp I could not tell at all. Mostly corn in a slightly spicy/creamy sauce. It tasted fine, I would have just preferred a little more of the crawfish and some shrimp. I won't order it again, but that's just me. The steak was great. It was prepared medium rare exactly as ordered. The seasonal vegetables served with it seemed like straight out of a frozen microwave in the bag kinda steamable veggie mix. The squash was tough, and I would bet my third child that it had been frozen. The carrots were also almost certainly from frozen. If these veggies were not from a frozen bag, then someone needs to learn how to cook fresh veggies. The fried shrimp were absolutely perfect. Large and plump with just enough batter to give them a good crunch. I got the scalloped potatoes and onion rings as sides. The onion rings were nothing special, and probably not made in house but purchased frozen. They were nicely fried, not greasy at all. The scalloped potatoes I wanted to love, but they were not very warm. The owner came around often and checked on the customers, which is very nice. She brought us a few extra chips when she noticed we ran out of chips before we ran out of corn dip. If I could give 3.5 stars I would because our meal was over $80, $100 with tax/tip, and without even having a glass of wine or a cocktail. The cocktails did look lovely, but for an average meal, this is too much money. I will be back, but likely for cocktails and snacks instead of a full meal. read more

I personally felt a condescending racist attitude from the owner. I am a retired restaurant owner and feel that I can somewhat analyze the success of another restaurant. This one is struggling to turn a decent profit and is more about show. Would I go again to support, a definite NO!! Best wishes to the owner. My wife and I were anxious to try the new Wadford's roof top Grille in Southaven MS since hearing it was opening. Donna Wadford is a very well established Entrepeneur that has created several successful business ventures over the years that have been very big hits, she knows what she is doing !. Today My wife and I decided to try the new restaurant venture of Donna Wadford and were extremely happy, first off we met Donna as we entered the building which was a plus, when we arrived at the restaurant upstairs, we shared our past experiences with her and our fond memories of those establishments that she ran. The bar tender Joey couldn't have been better, great conversationalist as well as Bourbon aficionado. We ordered the BBQ Shrimp, which was beyond amazing, Donna brought out a sample of the lobster deviled eggs and all I can say is WOW, we are from New England and very particular about our lobster, and these were A1. I then ordered the chicken tenders, and My wife ordered the steak and shrimp all was amazing. Also the bourbon selection they had EH Taylor, Blantons, Weller as well as many others, the scenery and view is amazing, we will be back many times, go and give it a try you will not be disappointed. read more
