The restaurant is very small so make sure you have a reservation. Our table was waiting on us! The service was excellent. Jessica was attentive and she was very knowledgeable about all the menu items. She described them very accurately and it made you wanna order it. She was helpful in my entree decision. The coconut, carrot, and ginger soup was fantastic. The Halibut was flaky and had an amazing crust on it. The beef tenderloin was moist and had a flavorful Demi glaze on it. I finished off my meal with an espresso martini. It was made with peanut butter whiskey so I was very apprehensive. Jessica was very positive about it so I tried it. Finally made a point to go try out this very nice restaurant in Germantown. Very cute French style feel with white tables and chairs. Place is small but very quaint. Service was excellent. Our server was very nice, attentive and provided recommendations and answered questions about the menu. She was fantastic. We started off with the mushroom toast that was covered with bacon, a variety of mushrooms, cheese, and a soft boiled egg. The umami flavors were out of this world. I would order that again. My friends had the half order of the Bolognese and mentioned it was delicious. Another friend ordered the salad and it was very fresh and a good portion. I ordered the pan seared flounder with grits and julienned vegetables. My dish was tasty but very salty to me. I am very sensitive to salt so it could just be my tastebuds. The food presentation was fabulous. It is plus when the food looks so good you want to dive into it quickly. I facilitated back and forth about ordering an after dinner cup of coffee. I am so glad I did. The coffee was made in a french press and the flavor was borderline divine! Our server was so nice. She comped my coffee. I will return to try lunch or brunch. Quaintly located where there is plenty of parking it spoke to the locals in a upscale way. The designed was cheque and intimate. The service was personable and very helpful. I came with a friend and my mind and tastebuds were on steak... they didn't let us down. The apps we had we fantastic too. The bread and cheese player we ordered opened our eyes to delicious combinations of blueberry jam (which they make there) with a creamy cheese, that I wish I can remember the name of, then drizzled with honey they source locally! The bite was heaven. Then the dinner came. The beef tenderloin presented so beautifully and tasted so much better. The mushroom sauce was perfection with finely balanced flavors. Then I paired it with an Earthquake Cab, . Chef kiss!! Everything was absolutely memorable and enjoyable. One thing they could do to add to the ambiance is blocking the headlights of cars from shining into their restaurant. There are simple things that can be rolled out in front the restaurant to assist. For our very first time here, my wife and I recently had a weekday dinner. It was a special occasion/celebration, so we decided to splurge a little bit. I'm certainly glad that we made reservations, because as the evening wore on, the entire restaurant eventually became completely filled with patrons. Even all of the seats at the small bar were occupied. The eatery is located within an unassuming suburban strip mall, but to never judge a book by its cover is an excellent metaphor in this instance. Be were ably served by a waiter named Aaron, who was very competent, knowledgeable, and friendly. His level of service was excellent, but not overwhelming. We began with (and shared) the mushroom toast, and now I understand what all of the hype was about! It could be an entree of its own, given the generous size. The thickly-cut Wisconsin bacon within the mushroom topping was delicious and well-balanced with the Gruyere cheese, caramelized onions, poached egg, and beurre blanc. This is something that I'd definitely order again. Next, we opted for the three cheese sampler. We went with a blue cheese, a Spanish cheese containing specks of truffle mushrooms, and a Welsh cheese. It came with the most perfectly made crostini I've ever eaten. Thinly sliced and perfectly textured. Not overly hard or dry, either. We loved the sides of blueberry jam, honey, and plain blueberries. For my entree, I simply couldn't resist the pan-roasted black Angus beef tenderloin. It was placed on top of a delicious mushrooms and a truffle demi-glacé. This was the most perfectly cooked steak that I have had in many years. My only trifle was that the whipped potatoes on the side weren't hot, but rather lukewarm (tasty nonetheless). My wife quite enjoyed her pan-seared Alaskan halibut on top of a bed of mushroom risotto, arugula oil, and baby herbs. I sampled some of the fish and risotto (perfection). For desert, we shared a three sample of gelato and sorbet. The lemon sorbet was nicely tart, and almost acted as a palate cleanser due to its low sugar content. It paired nicely with the coffee gelato and the coconut sorbet! Since it was a special occasion, they even put a candle on our frozen dessert. Also, a celebratory card was in a nice envelope when we first arrived at our table. Both very nice touches. I can definitely see why this cozy establishment's chef was nominated for a James Beard Award. I plan on returning again, and highly recommend this Germantown gem. read more

This is a darling, quaint restaurant. The owner greeted and served us an amazing lunch. Great menu choices for both lunch and dinner. When she learned my mom and I were there to plan my dad's funeral, she paid for our lunch! It was such a kind thing to do- my mom and I felt so humbled and grateful. Please support this business! This is a tiny little restaurant with virtually no ambiance beyond being a storefront. But, don't let that scare you off. The service is excellent and the food is very good. The four of us were seated quickly for our reserved time and ordered cocktails. Very good job on each of those, with our server also being the bartender. Remember, I said this was a small place. On to salads, two Mixed Green and two beet. Both were very nicely done, especially the whipped goat cheese on the mixed green salad. For entrees, it was again a 2 choices split. Both of the ladies selected Pasta Bolognese with burrata. This was a very nice presentation and very nice dish overall. The men each had the Short Ribs. Personally, I just didn't feel this dish lived up to its potential in terms of flavor. The roasted brussels sprouts were overdone, the truffle cheese grits didn't pack the punch that I thought this combination should punch, and the ribs themselves were plentiful (good size helping), but a bit overdone. I really like small independent restaurants and I want this to be a great success for a long time to come. I will likely give it another try in the future but for me the rating is a heavy 3 1/2. Went there with friends for dinner. We shared the mushroom toast 3 ways which big and was amazing. My friend and I had the 1/2 pasta dish which was more than enough, and my other friend had the flounder. I had the spring salad as well and it was good. The music I loved was the throw back 80's. The place is small but very quaint. My friend had the press coffee and she said it was good and they comped it. The service was excellent with the occasional check up but not intrusive. The Blue Honey Bistro is an intimate bistro located inside a strip mall in Germantown, Tennessee. It offers healthy meals while sitting inside a beautiful dining area. If there are no cars out front, you will also have a nice view of grass and trees outside as I did. The music was soft pop music from the 70s and enjoyable. I ordered the Bistro Salad with a grilled chicken breast on the side. Additionally, I had an unsweetened iced tea with a wedge of lemon. The salad was elegantly put together, consisting of mixed lettuces, cherry tomatos, radishes, and carrots. This was tossed with a champagne vingarette. The chicken breast was grilled and oven baked. The salad was fresh and crispy. The vingarette added just the right flavor. The chicken was sliced, meaty, and moist. The outer layer was browned to not only taste good but to add to the appearance. My iced tea was fresh as well, and the glass it was served in added to the beautiful appearance of the meal. My server greeted me as I entered and exited the bistro. She was timely and ensured I didn't need anything extra. She was attentive and knowledgeable of the menu. I recommend this place if you are in this area. A family venture, it feels it through and through. A tiny (tiny!), intimate, warm, canvas for staff, front and back of house, to redefine what cuisine in the Mid-South is and can be. That raison d'etre is served nightly, consistently, without fail. The service is beyond excellent. It's as personal as it gets...anywhere. Go twice and they remember you from the time before. "Welcome back" isn't some vapid platitude; it's genuine. Need a recommendation or want them to tweak something to your preference? Handled, expertly. The pacing is exceptional, the level of attentiveness, as if the boys in the front of the house have black belts in ESP, bespoke by default. Overdue, the chef (and owner, Drew (along with his wife, Courtney)), got a Beard nomination. He's been doing it for years at this little restaurant-that-could that did the unthinkable (survive COVID). The base of each recipe isn't eye-popping (so no: Foie gras! Escargot! Bone marrow!), but what the man can do in a kitchen to a tenderloin puts him and his offerings in rarified air. As for the fair, venture around the menu. It's seasonal, and it'll change. Some that are habitually there, speaking to their perfection: - mushrooms & toast. I don't care if you don't like fungus. This plate is earthy, buttery, sumptuous. Order it. - pan roasted tenderloin. It's tenderloin, yes, so you know what you're getting. What's not clearly apparent is the truffle demi-glacé that exposed me to what truffle can really do. - chocolate fondant cake. Not a huge desert guy, but it's a remarkable blend of earthy chocolate, velvety caramel sweet, punctuated by the crunch of cashews, topped with vanilla (where you can taste the vanilla bean in the cold) gelato. The physical location came into my awareness when I was but a lad who had friends who worked there when it was Jersey Mike's, like 23 years ago. Good time were had as bespoke sandwiches were offered to a post-football practice me at the flat rate of $5 and change (including a 5 pound monster called the 'Nick Special' ). There was a walk-in freezer that they used to disappear into around the 3pm hour with the doors locked, and then Dragonball Z was played on the TV and I would eat while they giggled at anime. Whatever. But at BHB, they took whatever that was and brought it to what many a dining room is made for: functional, warm, simple. A little cramped, but I somehow think this adds to the appeal. Touches here and there indicate the thought and pride put into the operation. Then, I knew happiness. But with the same footprint as BHB now (despite having to actually pay for food), their food, their staff, the atmosphere is an escape into joy before heading back into suburban Memphis. read more

My wife and I had dinner at blue honey this past week to celebrate our 64th wedding anniversary. This was our first time there although we had heard many compliments about the facility. The service was great as we entered. We were graded by the attendant happy anniversary and shown to our table both our orders were outstanding. The service was great. The atmosphere was wonderful. Everybody was so friendly in fact there was a couple that sat near us and as they were leaving, they came over to congratulate us for our anniversary. My dinner companion ordered the salmon and was served an inferior end piece. At $49 a pop, this is unconscionable, unethical, and inexcusable. How does the chef decide which customers deserve this treatment, I wonder? I don't consider sending food back an option because I can't see what goes on in the kitchen, nor do I think it does any good to complain to vendors who are arrogant enough to engage in such practices. Therefore, my only recourse is to post an honest review, and to never return to this establishment. I only wish I had taken a photo of the dish, but I suspect the chef will know exactly what I'm referring to. I'm giving 2 stars because the short ribs were good, although, also overpriced. read more

What a quaint little bistro! My friend and I had tried another restaurant early on a Saturday night. When the wait was extremely long, we thought we'd try Blue Honey as the website said that reservations were not required. They had one table left and graciously seated us. Wow! We both had the salmon with a sweet potato puree and vegetables! SO good! They made my friend a delicious lemon drop martini and I had the Blue Honey. Both were delicious! We finished our meal with a fondant chocolate cake. It was one of the best desserts I've ever had! It sat atop a lightly toasted marshmallow base and was served alongside a generous ice cream scoop topped with caramel sauce. I will be dreaming about it! read more

This place was great. Service: our waiter was incredibly helpful explaining wines, food etc. He also made sure we had everything we needed. Ambiance: The restaurant is very small. Maybe 10 tables. Everyone kinda seems a little on top of each other. When they expand, I think things will be much better. Food: food was awesome! They change their menu weekly, but keep a few select items. As we ordered, we trusted our waiter because as i mentioned he was so knowledgeable and helpful. We had a salad, charcuterie, some kind of mushroom appetizer. Then for entrees we had fish and a steak. It was all very delicious. The presentation was great. I would say- I know charcuterie is trendy now, but I wouldn't get this one. Wasn't worth it. I have pondered over this review for a couple of weeks now... the other reviews are so good... My wife and I have both been wanting to dine here for some time. We were really excited to have dinner here. We arrived for a late dinner (we reserved) and are sat at the small two top table next to the window right by the door. It was really wobbly and uneven. It had been wedged against the wall to keep it from being completely unstable. I dropped my fork on the floor and it took an unfortunate bounce. I had to scoot the table out to get it and that's when everything almost fell off of the table. The wall was scarred from the table being repeatedly shoved into it for stability. I would expect this from an Applebee's or the like but this place portrays itself as "fine dining". To make it worse at about 20:00 the lights from the shopping center come on we are basked in the the putrid orange lights from the outside. Look at my pics and you can see the change from the cheese plate to the entrees. Charity had done the research on the cheese plate before we arrived and ordered it for us. I didn't know what we were getting. It arrives and the teenage girl that brings it starts to describe what we have and she gets to the last meat and says "I don't know what it is, I forget, sorry" and then walks away. Really?? There are four things!?!?! I have no idea what it cost but there were may more condiments and crostini than any meat or cheese. There was maybe an ounce of meat total. It was pretty good but it seemed like the balance of everything was off. Oh well... next I was really excited about the French Onion soup. It is one of my favorites and I order it almost every time I see it on a menu. It arrives and is all cute in its little crock. I dig in and immediately I'm disappointed. It may be the worst I've ever had. It had zero "beefy flavor" and really was lacking all around. I think they put the thin crostini in it as the bread. They just dissolved and and didn't add anything at all. I was really disappointed in my onion water and just pushed it away after a few bites. I ordered the Beef Tenderloin off of the regular menu and Charity ordered the Wagyu Tenderloin special. I wasn't fully convinced it would be Wagyu honestly so I avoided it. Entrees arrive and another disappointment for me. My steak was cooked perfectly but lacked in every other way. It was under seasoned and didn't have that nice herb butter on it that I have seen in others pictures. I didn't see any butter or sauce. My potatoes were terrible, no other way to describe them. I never salt my food and I had to reach for the salt shaker multiple times to attempt to make them better but even that didn't work. Charity's potatoes on the other hand were great!!! She really enjoyed her steak as well. It tried them both and they were leaps and bounds better than mine. The sauce that came with hers was really good and helped the steak immensely. All in all I was pretty disappointed. The teenage servers did ok but they lack the professionalism I would expect in a place like this. I wanted a great experience, I expected a whole lot better of a meal, but it just wasn't meant to be I guess. The table next to us appeared to have the owner as their server. She was great as I eavesdropped while she was talking to them. She never spoke to us at our little orange wobbly table. We passed on dessert even though the table next to us recommended what they had. I had enough disappointment for one evening. We will have to really think hard about coming back again! read more

I came here strictly as a result of Yelp reviews and this did not disappoint. Advises to make reservations as it's a small space (9-10 tables and bar area) but walk-ins are allowed. Pretty and intimate atmosphere makes it ideal for business or lunch with friends. I had the mushroom toast with bistro salad. The champagne vinaigrette was delicious and the mushroom toast (hardly toast as it was a large slice of ciabatta bread) was filling and delicious. My husband had the chicken breast sandwich. Sounds boring but it was a wonderful taste experience with goat cheese, bacon, cucumber and balsamic vinaigrette. This chef is to be commended! read more
