New to the menu, gumbo! We were pleasantly surprised that they have added more delicious items. We saw that they had shrimp and grits but we came in the afternoon and that is only served in the morning. Note to self, come back in the morning for shrimp and grits! Their afternoon menu has the gumbo. This delicious meal comes with a generous portion of chicken, shrimp, sausage, rice, and incredible corn bread. Where to start? Each bite of this new menu item was so good! The chicken was super tender. The shrimp was perfectly cooked, not over done. The sausage adds more flavor to an already tasty bowl of goodness. There is a nice kick to this, as it should. And the corn bread....Honey, this is SO wonderful as a perfect compliment to the hearty gumbo. Thank you so much. We will be back in the morning for some shrimp and grits!! With an acai bowl to go :)
It's located at the basement of the Waikīkī mall. It's an open seating outside of the shop and it was very busy for a Tuesday morning. We ordered a banana and whip cream waffle and waited outside for it to arrive. The waffle was so worth the price, it was chewy,crispy,and perfect texture. It was worth the exploration to find it, we parked in the attached garage and looked for a sign that said where it was located. Use Google Maps to find if you get lost.
Berry Fact: A true berry comes from one flower with one ovary. When meeting up with a colleague, she told me firmly, that while acai bowls originated in Brazil, they are a massive staple in Hawaii's food culture and considered a must-try, iconic snack there. Hawaii popularized the version widely found in the USA, adding local toppings like papaya, lilikoi, and macadamia nuts to the frozen blended berry base. And she recommended the best place. They frequently top the "Yelp's Best..." lists! I got to meet the gentleman behind the business, Cal. He's sweet, humble, and has a great personality. As for the waffle and acai bowl: It was spoonful after spoonful of tasty eats. At one point, I started topping my waffle with my acai bowl. It's that brunch combination that pairs warm, crispy waffles with cold, thick, and refreshing acai smoothie toppings that makes it oh so alluring. The combination offers a contrast in textures and temperatures and textures (fruit, granola, nuts, and drizzled honey) that makes it moreish. Just typing about it now makes my mouth become a waterfall. Pop in if you're in the Waikiki area! If you're not in the area, it's still well worth a visit if you're in need of some healthy eats and carbs.
This was close to our hotel so one day during our vacation, we came here for breakfast. We were heading to the beach after so we didn't want it to be something heavy. My partner and I opted to share the "Berries and Cream" with no whipped cream since it already has vanilla ice cream on it. It was good and light. At first, I thought it was weird to have ice cream on something like this and to have it for breakfast, but I guess it works out well. The staff was nice. They really get packed even on weekdays. Price is a little on thr higher side.
I don't know who needs to hear this, but this is the best açaí bowl I have ever had in my life, and it is not even close. It is also the best thing I have had on my one-week trip to Hawaii. Let me start by saying I visited this place two years ago and made it my mission to come back. Since my group of nine decided to book a trip to Hawaii, this was the first thing I added to the itinerary. And again, it did not disappoint. The service is top tier. The busser saw our large group come in and asked if we wanted to sit at a table we were eyeing, then cleaned it off for us and added extra seating so all of us could fit. The cashier was also very nice, and once your order is ready, the workers explain the toppings bar so you can dress your açaí bowl however you want (coconut flakes, granola, honey, chia seeds, etc.). I got the regular açaí bowl, and again, it is the best açaí bowl I have ever had. The açaí is thick and very rich, and you can tell the blend is real açaí and the berries on top are fresh. The topping bar is a great touch because you can customize it to your liking. It is sweet but not overly sweet or artificial tasting. It also takes a long time to melt, so you can take your time eating it. We also got a couple waffles on the side, and those were good too.
Can't complain about a combination of some of my favorite things: açaí, fresh fruit, and waffles! The service at Waffle and Berry was so great and they offer modifications which is great. The waffles usually come with ice cream, but we substituted it for acai for something less heavy. The best part was unlimited toppings including coconut, granola, chia seeds, cacao nibs, and honey. Delicious! We got the Hutch, which was plenty of food for two people.
You would almost think, it's tourist area and it's all over priced and not tasty. NOT TRUE. Food 5/5 Service 4/5! Ambiance 4/5! It was hit, humid but it was fine and acceptable. The cream was home made you can just taste it. Fruits fresh, grits spot on, everything tasted great along with the lemonade. It's freshly made! It is not the minute maid stuff around here. Service was great, when I was putting in the order at the counter, the girls were SO informative and gave me recommendations and explained to me about the dishes that are popular and some were tourist inspired items! I also wish I saw the GUMBO. I would have gotten that if I saw it!! Decor was cute all around with photos etc. this spot has plenty of tables for smaller parties but they made it work for us for a party of 6! Thank you for everything! I recommend this spot!
Waffle and Berry made it to the top 100 Yelp reviews. It was conveniently located on the same street as our Pearl Harbor pick up as well. The restaurant is on the basement floor, accessible by escalator or elevator. Tables are first come, first serve. You order at the counter, there will likely be a line as it is popular, and they bring out you. The menus is waffles and açai bowls. They have a side of scrambled eggs and sausage. There is a side table with topping, granola, honey, chocolate chips, etc. they do not offer any alcohol, but some virgin breakfast "cocktails". My friend and I split the berries and cream, getting the vanilla ice cream on the side to keep the waffle crisp, and a side of eggs and sausage. Everything was delicious. The waffle, despite the look, was not overly sweet, and with the ice cream in the side it was easy to add just a little sweetness. The waffle was so good it did not need syrup. The best waffle I've had in the US. Eggs and sausage were so good, nice savory side.
To be quite frank, I'm not sure what's the hype about Waffle and berry. It's located in the same underground food court as maguro bros. Upon entering the cafe, it had a really offputting scent that was kind of repulsive to me, like wet towel. I really wanted açaí bowl so I tried to not let it bug me but I would say I'm quite sensitive to smell. We ordered the açaí and the half size of the Nutella banana waffle. Basic food with expensive price points. I would say California açaí bowls are much better in terms of valuable and options. I liked that they had the granola, honey, chia seeds, chocolate chips, and coconuts at a side table so that you can put as much as you'd like. Because of the scent, we sat outside in the communal table area. It was decent but nothing special worth nothing.

This acai bowl place is one of my favorites. The acai itself is slightly on the sweeter side, but it tastes very fresh, and the amount of fruit they give you is generous, which I really love. All the fruits are vibrant, fresh, and make the bowl feel both satisfying and refreshing. The biggest highlight for me is that you can customize the toppings exactly the way you want. You're free to add and sprinkle toppings to your liking, which makes every visit feel a little different and personal. I highly recommend adding a waffle on the side. The waffle comes out warm and crispy, and it pairs perfectly with the cold acai and fresh fruit. Eating them together is seriously next-level delicious. Another reason I keep coming back is the owner. He is incredibly kind and always greets customers with a warm smile. Every time I visit, I leave in a better mood just because of how friendly and welcoming he is. Although the shop has moved locations and it's been a while since then, I still miss the old spot on the second floor. The terrace view up there was amazing, and it gave the place such a special vibe. Even so, the quality, portions, and overall experience are still great, and I'll definitely continue coming back. read more

Best Açaí bowl in the world. Texture, flavor, fresh fruit, and you get to top it off yourself with granola, chia seeds, honey and coconut flakes. We heard from our uber driver that this place was their favorite place to get acai bowls in Hawaii, and it did not disappoint! At first, I thought $18 was a lot for an acai bowl, but the size fools you! As you keep eating, you find that the portions are actually quite generous and definitely could've been split with another person. The acai is a sorbet, which has the perfect consistency without melting too fast. It comes with bananas, strawberries, and blueberries. Then, you get to add your own toppings. You can choose from chia seeds, cacao nibs, granola, shredded coconut, and honey, and you can add more at any time, which is game changing when you find yourself with acai and no more toppings. The granola and cacao nibs were my favorite toppings. read more

Took my niece to my favorite Açai bowl spot so she could experience it, too. The place was hopping when we arrived around 10:45am but Cal made it a point to take our orders and make us feel like VIP's. We both ordered the Acai bowls hut my niece added a waffle, which we shared. We enjoyed our bowls so much, along with her iced tea and my iced coffee. For anyone who hasn't tried this out of this world eatery, please do so asap! I know their location in the basement level of the Waikiki Shopping Plaza isn't easy if you're driving, there are plenty of parking spots close by. It is worth it, trust me. PS I left my phone behind so I couldn't take photos this time. read more

Aloha! I'm a local and always looking for fun places to try. We came across this place for a quick brunch (less booze) and we're pleasantly surprised. We had the waffle with berries full order and got it on two plates. Each waffle was covered with blueberries and strawberries, vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. Everything went well together. Craving for another Acai bowl and found this place thru Yelp. Place inside have enough tables, good tropical interior, service from Aurora was superb. The acai bowl can comeiwht waffle as option. Good taste but nothing out of the ordinary. Price is jsut a little more than what we had this week. But... it pays for the service. I would give 4.5 for our experience. I would recommend this place. But if you have to walk half a mile to get here, just find for other place thru Yelp. You can find quiet a lot if Acai bowl place in Waikiki. read more
Came to get some waffles for dessert! This spot definitely hits different! They make some amazing waffles for dessert their portion sizing is enough for 4 and the inside is beautiful! They have a huge seating area and lots of small items for purchase, we got their peanut butter and jelly waffles which also had bananas in it with vanilla ice cream. The waffles take some time around 5-10 min so be patient! read more

Who would ever think to pair acai bowls with waffles? This was one of my favorite spots to try in Oahu. It's hidden on the bottom floor of the McCully Shopping Center in Waikiki. It's definitely a hidden gem. Walking in, we met the owner Cal, who explained the menu and topping station. We ordered an acai bowl with waffles on the side and it was amazing. We would scoop the waffles into the acai, which was the perfect combo. The acai was more of a sorbet with/ added fruit in the bowl. The Waffles were crispy and had a sweet touch to them. Honestly it was pretty addicting. After we got our bowl, we went to the topping station to add coconut and granola, there are other options too. Located on the lower level inside the Waikiki Shopping Plaza in the heart of the tourist mecca that is Waikiki in Honolulu, Hawaii, Waffle and Berry is your classic mom and pop restaurant that specializes in all things waffles and additional sweet treats that are perfect for all time of the day from breakfast to lunch to dinner thanks to their perfectly crafted waffles, acai bowls, and specialized beverages. The no-so-secret success is due in part of the charisma and charm of the hard working owner Cal or Mr. Cali as he is also known as, as tourists and locals alike come for a visit to taste one of their many handcrafted waffles and treats. Waffle and Berry came highly recommended by my fellow Elite Yelpers and I for one am so grateful to be able to try them, even as a solo diner, as I was worried that they would be overcrowded with loyal customers or my meal would be so big that I wouldn't be able finish my meal as I simply wanted to try a sweet treat on my own without being overindulged. Luckily neither came to be as there were plenty of seats and tables available thanks to the hard work of their crew always being there for their customers and the fact that they so wonderfully serve half portions, which is not the most heavily advertised option, and for good reason. Despite arriving at a relatively early hour of 9 a.m., business was booming at Waffle and Berry but thankfully upon entry there were still some tables available. All visitors have to do upon walking into Waffle and Berry is approach a service representative who stands adjacent at the counter and approaches you with friendliness as you peruse the menu. The menu at Waffle and Berry is sweet and simple with five different waffles offered up on their menu and one additional catch-all Kireina Hama which combines multiple fresh fruits and many features of their acai bowl. Although the fresh fruits that Waffles and Berry serve up sound delicious, there was something lightly appealing about their Chocolate Chip Banana Waffle which at half an order at a reduced price of $12 was one piece of their golden waffle topped with chocolate chips, sliced bananas, powdered sugar, a scoop of vanilla ice cream and their homemade whipped cream. It wouldn't take too long for my small meal to be delivered to my table and it would be a joyous single waffle topped with all the fixings, with an additional ramekin of maple syrup ready to douse every waffle bite. Sitting inside their restaurant that had no light thanks to their location being subterranean was a real treat as a number of customers, most of which you can tell where tourists come in and enjoy themselves. My single waffle wasn't too sweet thanks to the enriching scoop of traditional vanilla ice cream and their creamy whipped cream that I enjoyed with every bite. My total bill was $12.57 before gratuity was added in, which was more than worth the price of purchase. In and out and totally satisfied is just the way I like it, and I cannot wait to return to Waffle and Berry on my next visit to Waikiki as I cannot wait to share in their The Hutch sharable waffle meal or even enjoy their namesake Berries and Cream. Perfect crispy waffles with creamy ice cream is the only way to spend a day or evening while walking around Waikiki. Who doesn't need a little indulgence before heading out to the beach or pool at at Waffle and Berry you can catch Mr. Cali and his team crafting some of the best heartiest treats in the neighborhood! read more

Stopped by Waffle and Berry and had such a great experience! I ordered an açaí bowl along with two side waffles, and everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The açaí was perfectly blended, not too icy, not too sweet, and the waffles were crisp on the outside and soft on the inside, exactly how you want them. What really made the visit stand out, though, was the service. The staff was genuinely warm and welcoming, and they went above and beyond by giving us a complimentary kids plate with a mini açaí bowl, waffle, and fresh fruit. It was such a thoughtful gesture and definitely not something you see every day. Overall, delicious food, fantastic service, and a place I'd happily come back to. Highly recommend! read more

My family came here for breakfast on our first morning here and we were so blown away by it that we decided to come again the next day. The portion sizes are pretty big and they were super tasty. Love the texture of their signature waffles. Adorabe little spot in the heart of the Waikiki district. Tried the Acai bowl and the Peanut Butter Strawberry Waffle with ice cream. WOW! Acai bowl you add your own amount of toppings--granola, cocoanut flakes, chia seeds and such. Flavors were quite good, prices a bit higher than expected but then again, with inflation and all, their prices are just a little higher than average. $18 for Acai Bowl, $19 for the peanut butter Strawberry waffle. Service is good, we went when it wasn't too crowded. LOTS of sitting, eating space. Great location even if a bit hidden. Love their little videos on how to find them. Perfect. read more

Best açaí on the island and the sweetest staff ever. Love the sorbet texture of the açaí, large portions, and self-serve toppings including chia, cacao, coconut, granola, and honey. The owner even served us a free waffle and an iced tea which was so kind! Very comfortable space and service, + some old R&B playing over the speaker made us feel right at home. I've known this owner from humble beginnings before he launched his business! He opened his establishment at Ohana Hale in Ward area. This place is brightly lighted and roomy to hold a party ! It's average noise level and inviting. Looks like I have to bring the Ohana Hale gang since I know where he is and parking at Royal Hawaiian Mall is reasonable with first hour free and $3 for second hour! However, you either eat at one of the restaurants to get the discount in the mall, then go over for desserts! This is the spot to be for the tourist to cool off after being at the beach!!! The Açaí bowl is awesome filled with fruits and additional toppings to boot. It's filled with bananas, strawberries, blueberries, granolas, coconut, and chocolate pieces. Hallelujah! One word: Amazing! Ordered the Peanut Butter Banana Waffle and gf got the Berries & Cream Waffle. Perfect combo- waffles, fruit and ice cream for breakfast! A must eat place! It was so good that conversation momentarily stopped as we indulged in it - Hehe! Casual setting. Good food & service. You order at counter and find a table. Server checks on you and busses tables. Fun Fact: This place is hidden downstairs (basement) in the Waikiki Shopping Plaza. Lots of other great food options nearby in sort of a food court maze so you can go exploring! Tip: We parked at Ross's store parking garage a block away on Seaside Ave (formerly Waikiki theater parking) where you can get 2 hours free parking with any purchase at Ross's no matter how cheap. read more
These are some very tasty waffles! The portions are large and the flavor is amazing. I wasn't sure if I was going to enjoy a waffle at 5 PM in the afternoon, but boy was I wrong. We went back two or three times in the week that we were in Oahu. Decor-4/5 stars. Not much to the decor, but some beautiful pictures and large windows. It's tucked down a set of stairs underground that leads into some other food spots. Plenty of seating and comfortable chairs. Service-4/5 stars. Friendly staff that greeted us with a smile. Food-5/5 stars. The waffles are the star of the show, and they did not disappoint. The waffle itself is very nice, flavorful, crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. The ice cream is very sweet, and 2 large scoops and fresh fruit finish off this waffle. We really enjoyed it and went back several times during our stay. Well done guys!! read more

We don’t currently offer gluten-free waffles, but we do have gluten-free options—our acai bowls are always available, and from 8am to 11am, you can also enjoy our beef-smoked sausage and scrambled eggs.
