Absolutely horrid experience! Arrived at 4:05am for a quick breakfast before heading to the airport. Walked in and was immediately met with nasty attitude from the staff. Got here at 8pm on a Wednesday night with my 6yo daughter. The food is good for a waffle house and deserves about 3.5 stars. My issue is the music. It's VERY loud hip hop coming from the server's personal speaker. It is full of expletives, racial slurs, and sexual language. Completely inappropriate for any restaurant environment, let alone a family friendly chain. I would have at least expected them to turn it down or completely off seeing there are kids here. I came to this Waffle House two days in a row and get the same poorly managed experience. Yesterday, after waiting 20 mins to place a to-go order, one of the cooks asked if everyone placing a to-go order would leave and come back in 5 minutes. FIVE MINUTES! As if leaving for 5 mins would make a difference. Now today, I tried again. I placed my name on waiting list and we were told it would be 30 mins for a table. It's now been over an hour and still four people in front of us. People that have been sitting there for 30 mins still haven't gotten their food. And there were open tables! I thought I would get to enjoy a nice breakfast before heading to the airport but when I walked into the restaurant at 5:10 am and headed to the counter to take a seat, one of the employees standing around behind the counter told me that they do not open until 7 am. Don't need to go there again unless we have no other choices. It was dirty and noisy. You're not given regular silverware, but a pack with plastic fork and knife and napkin. Service speed was good but I believe we missed the morning rush. Server was OK - she was not consistent with customers (for example, offering drinks to go to some, but not to others.) Prices aren't too bad, however the food isn't great. Wish there was more variety on the menu. Eggs and bacon weren't totally cooked as ordered. They only do to-go orders because they get an automatic 20% tip and don't have to do dishes. (Don't add a tip it'll just be extra on top of the 20%) The 4 employees told me this morning at 6:30 they were only doing to-go orders because they are understaffed. They do this all the time. I love this WH! I grew up eating at WHs and in fact, my first job was at a WH in Alabama, so yeah "I'm a Waffle House kid"! I was so sad when they had to shut down for the pandemic cause to go breakfast gets cold so fast and part of the WH charm is the employees. The morning crew here is awesome! Fast, friendly, chatty and just the right amount of surly. The morning manager, I think his name is Alex, was doing it all to help his staff. Cooking, prepping, washing dishes, helping clear tables.....you can tell he cares. They are usually super busy in the morning but they are never rude or stressed, they all seem to enjoy what they are doing. I know I loved working at WH! Of course I love the food, it's in my blood! So. The first review I should have made was 12/20/2020. During quarantine Carly kicked ass! She made sure our order was correct and even brought it to our car with a twinkle in her eye! Flash forward to today we had the pleasure of Carly being our waitress/cook. Our pecan waffle and Texas Bacon melt came out sooo perfect! Average. Well actually slightly below average. The food was ok, the prices were affordable, but the portions seemed small. I ordered a T bone steak breakfast with hash browns and eggs. The steak was tough. The hash browns were cold and not crispy, I asked for over easy eggs and got scrambled. They only dole out one serving of jam for two whole pieces of toast, and you don't get to choose, it is delivered with the meal instead of a selection of flavors on your table. All three stars are for our excellent server, she deserves more than the 25% we were able to afford for her tip. Food quality and portion size need improvement for any more stars. read more

A huge thanks to this Waffle House. Husband and I were stranded in a hotel near the airport during the chaotic winter storm (sometime around Feb 14-18). While roughly 60% of the city had shut down, this Waffle House worked round the clock to feed many hungry families who had run out of food. Luckily we were able to get a hot meal after our hotel run out of food and all grocery stores and other restaurants were closed. We will forever be grateful. Very convenient being next to the airport and open 24 hours. I flew into Austin on a red eye with the Frontier airline. The airport had nothing to eat or snacks to pick up so I was hungry since I was unable to eat dinner. First thing u smell as you walk in is bleach and cleaning products. From the length of time we were there eating the restaurant was constantly being cleaned. Due to the humidity outside the restaurant was very cold so being a jacket if your not used to AC on blast. Restaurant was little and was pretty busy. Not too many options to choose from in the menu but the food was delicious. Me and my friend shared the bacon, egg and cheese melt with hash browns with sautéed onions in it. I wanted to be greedy and ordered a waffle as well..the waffle was big but I do like my waffles a little crunchy on the outside but still pretty good. The food preparation area, which is in full view in all Waffle House restaurants was unclean and not being maintained for cleanliness. My wife and I are not overly concerned about cleanliness in restaurants, but she asked me to leave this review and make a strong point about the unclean conditions in this restaurant. The restaurant was not overly crowded, nor was it empty. It seems that someone should have been assigned to cleanup duty. Clean is not everything, that is why they earned three stars in this review. However, I may have not left any review, if they were clean, because Waffle House is a known restaurant and most people will not go to yelp to find out about Waffle House. The service is quick and friendly and has a good ole' kinda feel to it. The wait can be a bit crazy on Sunday mornings, so plan for that if you can. I think my group of 6 waited for a good hour, and we also had to remind them constantly. There were tables open but they did not clean them. My friends were hungry and didn't enjoy the wait time but we continued to wait as we were committed to getting those waffles. I think I fell asleep waiting so In my head the wait time was shorter. The friends all ordered themselves hearty stacks of waffles and breakfast food bowls. The portion size is pretty fair and it's all standard food. Came in for the first time to order to go, let the little Mexican girl that's working tonight 07/02/2022 at 1:12, should know who she is since the rest of the staff was black. She said to go to the counter. We go to the counter and she says oh someone else is going to come take care of you. While she's at the register and could've taken 2 min to take our order, she then continued to stand around and not do shit. BAD SERVICE IS THE MOST ANNOYING THING. First off, I love Waffle House! I grew up eating at Waffle House when I was living in Virginia and I have lived in CA for most of my life, I deeply miss Waffle House. On a trip to Texas for a wedding I was delighted to see a Waffle House 6 mins outside of the airport in Austin. I took my wife who had been hearing about me giving deep professions of love for many years. They did not fail to let me down. Everyone was extremely friendly and we were told to choose a spot wherever we would like which we did. I ordered the Breakfast sandwich on Texas Toast and Hash Browns that were hooked up. My wife got the pork chops and eggs which were flavorful. They also brought us a mess up biscuits and gravy. The food came out extremely timely and hot The coffee was refilled multiple times. Well, I don't go to the Waffle House much, but I had the opportunity last weekend. I was disappointed, kinda. The jukebox just has oldies and it doesn't play what you program into it. For the food - the hashbrowns were criminally mushy. No crispiness at all. Bah. The biscuit was ho hum. Eggs were cooked perfectly, though, as always. They now have their own salsa in a jar - it tastes like Pace Mild. Service was good, as usual. The magic I felt when I first came to the Waffle House 6 years ago, alas, is gone. Sigh. read more

Okay we really, REALLY need this chain out in California. Every time I have business travel in Austin I make it a point to make sure I stop by one of these and since this one is about 5 mins from Austin-Bergstrom Airport its easy enough to stop there on your way out or back from your flight. And when you stop by just be prepared for some good old fashioned cook to order breakfast items and of course the best part: open 24 hours a day! I am all about choices so when I order something it usually comes with about 10 caveats or modifications. I know this is a pain in the ass and most waiters and waitresses probably hate me but I always overtip so I think this is a decent trade off. So my point is you can customize the hell out of your breakfast carb-fest in pretty much anyway you want and the waitress is happy to oblige although you may get razzed about some choices by the cook as he prepares your food so I highly recommend sitting at the bar for the full experience. My usual is the All Star with screambled egg whites only + one more egg, 2 extra crispy bacon strips, 2 sausage links, hashbrowns COUNTRY(covered with white gravy), sourdough toast, orange juice and waffle with maple syrup and a scoop of peanut butter. Death on a plate. Delicious, sweet and savory death. Since this is the Waffle house of course the fresh made to order waffles are the stars here. The waffles are made very thin but over a larger surface area with many smaller divots for the butter and syrup to sit in. This make it so that the ratio of butter and syrup for each bite of waffle is just about perfect and never too soggy. Just make sure you dont skip the waffle okay? Just think Der Waffle House from "Dead Like Me" If you ever got hungry watching the reapers chow down on awesome breakfast items this is the place for you. read more
