I come here often. But today was extra trash. The staff is always mean but the food is way better than the other location. I mean it's waffle house. Its what you expect. Not only did I tell that woman with the black eye three times a chicken and cheese sandwich add lettuce and tomato. Never said the texas chicken deluxe. She ordered the food with bacon. It's a Waffle house, it's a good Waffle House, I'm not entirely sure what else to say. We had a lovely server who was very attentive and kind and friendly. She made sure to keep my SO's coffee cup filled up. We slide in and ordered a wonderful breakfast. I had a steak and eggs and fancy hashbrowns. My SO had one of the other combos. We were able to make many switches in our order for the carbs that we did not want. It's a little loud in the restaurant but this is not a place you come for ambiance. It was interesting to people watch who comes here. I like being able to watch the chef cook. I was also shocked by how much butter they use in everything. Explains why everything there tastes so amazing! The booth was clean when we arrived. They have plastic panels up between the booths. It's impossible for them to really be safe by the grill because it's such a small and tight space and they are all squished together. I am not super worried about the virus but if you are, I might recommend that you not go to a Waffle house. If you want some yummy breakfast food 24/7, this is still the best place to come. read more

Waffle House is my favorite 24/7 breakfast place on the East Coast. I can count on two things here: 1. Good service. 2. Good waffles and custom hash browns. This Columbia area Waffle House met those expectations. Went here on a Sunday Morning before the after church lunch rush. Immediately greeted with tat friendly Southern Hospitality. Our waitress sat my friend and I at the counter. Got us our coffee and placed our order. My go to comfort food here is a pecan waffle and hash browns. Golden brown and soaks up the butter and syrup, making it really delicious on each bite. Hash browns custom made to your taste. I enjoy a large serving Covered, Smothered, and Peppered. Covered with melted cheese, Smothered with sautéed onions, and peppered with spicy jalapeños. Glad I orders the large and not the Triple. It was just enough. If you walk away hungry you're doing it wrong. Service was excellent! Our waitress sensed that weren't from Columbia so she made us feel welcome. Had a good conversation about the city and how good of a time we were having. I would rate most chain restaurants a 4 but this day the experience was a 5. Or maybe I feel this way because I spent the past week doing Army training and this is so much better. Eh who knows. Cover and smother your day with Waffle House deliciousness. read more

The *only* reason I give any stars is because the young lady that served us was working her little tail off to try and make our dining experience a great one. Let's start with the smell. The only available booths were near the restroom, so we chose one and sat down. It seemed like some one was either entering or leaving every 5 seconds. Every time that door was opened we would get a lung full of chemical smell. Then there was a hair in my food! This is the second time since we have been on this trip this has happened. South Carolina: y'all need to get it together, before the board of health shuts you down! All in all the food was ok... the service was excellent but the restaurant it's self no, just nope... nope this sucker all the way to forget that town! read more

The waitress came to my table as soon as I sat down. There was zero hesitation. I asked my typical question... What do you recommend? She opened up and didn't stop. I decided to try the chicken and waffles with a side bowl of grits and some sweet tea. When they say sweet tea they seriously mean. That woke we right up. The place is located right off of the highway but its still surprisingly quiet. The inside was maintained well and clean. You can go to the Mc. Came here last night, walked in the door, sat down, and then after waiting for several minutes someone said "you'll have to come back we're cleaning the grill and it'll take 30 minutes. " so we walked out the door and one of the cooks got out of their car and asked why we were leaving. We told them what they said inside and she told us to come back in and made us our food. The whole time we were there, not one employee smiled and they spent the whole time complaining how tired they were and wanted to go home. One of them spent most of their time making out with her girlfriend over in the corner. The food was good and I appreciate that the lady made our food for us and didn't make us leave, but the other employees were just horrible. If you're getting paid to do a job, you should probably do it and save your complaining for when there are no customers. read more

Our visit today was less than satisfactory. We walked in, were greeted as we made our way to our table. It was a very slow morning. There were 3 employees and maybe one other table of people besides us. It took 10 minutes for us to finally be waited on. Oh and the employees excuse for taking so long was "Oh we didn't see you". Bull fcking $hit. Y'all greeted us. So that excuse for "not seeing us" is unacceptable. That should NOT have taken 10 minutes on a slow morning to come over, and take our order. One of the employees was just standing there looking around, literally twiddling her fingers. I guess she didn't have time to clean since she had time to lean . The food & coffee was Waffle House expectations so no complaints there. But the service today was very disappointing. What's interesting is that as soon as a couple of other customers came in after we began eating, they were immediately waited on and were given way more energy and attention than we were. We always tip well when we visit this Waffle House. Today we didn't tip. It was that bad. And then the cashier had the audacity to ask if we left a tip on the table since we skipped the tip option on the debit card. We've never really had issues at this W.H before but today was the first and because of how sad our visit was, is why I'm making this review. Do better Waffle House. read more

I have some amazing memories at this place. After long production nights at The Gamecock (student newspaper at USC), we'd sometimes drive out here for a latenight meal. Also when drunk on weekends. And sometimes randomly during the week for no reason. And sometimes, we'd live out of our cars in the parking lot & eat three square meals here. Okay not that last one, but one time I actually had a dream about eating at this Waffle House. Well, it was more like a nightmare. You see, I had ordered too much food & I couldn't finish it, but it was just SO GOOD, so I kept eating & eating & eventually in my dream I realized with horror that I wasn't going to be able to finish my food. Horrible horrible nightmare. Okay here's the standard order: Waffle (or double waffle) Cheese omelette. Side of sausage patties. Wheat toast. Then, I'd halve the omelette & make two sausage/egg/cheese sandwiches. Okay I'm going to stop talking about Waffle House now, because it's becoming a little scary. Why do I keep going back to this place. It's cheap, is greasy, its fast. If your stomach can handle it you might love this place. My stomach can't. And yet, I keep going back for those rubbery waffles. My wife likes to add the 'strawberries' to her pancakes or waffles. There is no House but Waffle House. If you are but a sojourner in our fine region, you must make at least one pilgrimage to Waffle House during your stay. Sorry, it's the rules. Terrible fortune befalls those who do not eat at Waffle House. And try to find one without one of those new-fangled red and gray interiors; the true Waffle House Experience has to make even the most rational people wonder if they've been mysteriously transported back to 1973. Be warned, however: There's always going to be that one jerk who plays "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" 17 times on the jukebox, simultaneously ruining both the '70s ambiance AND your Texas melt. read more

Great service and delicious food. The bacon actually had flavor, which for some reason I haven't been able to find in a restaurant in awhile. The waffles were good. Eggs were eggs and you can't really do bad with those. The fresh tomato slices were flavorful. My mom liked her pecan waffles and said they were as good as the pecan pie she's been craving. My two boys and I had the opportunity to eat dinner anywhere in Columbia tonight and they chose the Waffle House beside Lowe's on Garners Ferry Rd. My wife had girls night so we were doing things guy love to do. We walked in at about 6:35 pm. They were not busy. No one spoke a word so we sat ourselves in a booth and talked about what we were going to order. No one came by to see us. And, again after 5-10 minutes, still No one spoke. I tried to get their attention by making eye contact but the two women "working" clearly were pissed off and did not want to be there. We waited another five or ten minutes only because my children really wanted to eat there, but after the silent treatment by the staff, my youngest started to get upset because he wanted a waffle and had been on his best behavior. So I gave up waiting and we left for chic fil a right across the street and I doubt I'll ever go back to that location ever again even though we've been a dozen times in the past two years. read more
