Everyone has probably heard of Waffle House. If you're lucky enough to live in the south, you get to enjoy this diner. This was my second stop to Waffle House. However, the first one I can't quite remember. I'm going to give this five stars for a reason! Not because it was the best meal I've ever had, but for numerous reasons which I have listed. I stopped at the one in Frankfort, Ky. I just ordered a Classic Waffle and Hashbrowns. Nothing fancy! Honestly it tasted great! This was one of the best waffles I've had and the hashbrowns were crispy. Just as they should be. It's sad how many places serve sad looking hashbrowns that are barely cooked and soggy for twice the price. This was not the case. But what set Waffle House apart was the service. Honestly, I felt like I was part of the family there. The waitresses, cook, cashier, etc. Everyone said hi to me and asked me how I was doing. They checked in with me to make sure everything tasted good. I'm a fan of diners! The good ones, the waitress will do that, but that's about it. Here, everyone did. I give them a lot of credit for that. They were also busy. When you've been traveling alone, it's nice when you get that level of service. Plus, for the price, you get some good food! It also had that great diner feel. If you haven't been to a Waffle House and you're in Kentucky, head to Frankfort! If you're not, head to a Waffle House anyways. What do you do when your staying in a hotel and you wake up at 3am and can't go back to sleep? You go to Waffle House for some breakfast. I decided to get an early start to my day. I usually skip breakfast or have a protein shake, but a good American breakfast sounded good on the frigid cold morning. There is nothing more America than a Waffle House breakfast. When I arrived, I chose a booth by the window. It was just me and one other customer in the diner. I was offered a quick cup of coffee to start my waking up process. Love Waffle House coffee. After I enjoyed a few sips of coffee I ordered up an All Star breakfast which includes scrambled eggs, sausage, waffle and some grits. Way plenty to break your fast. My order was up fast. Everything tasted delicious. They have breakfast diner food down to a fine science. Simple but good. Nothing fancy, just good tasting food. The service was friendly and down-home feeling. I could tell she was tired from working overtime during this snow storm, but that didn't stop her from being friendly and attentive to the task at hand. I don't know about you, but I appreciate that kind of work ethic. Overall my experience was positive today. Nothing to complain about. I'd come back to this location. read more

Yes, this is Waffle House, but my Hubby and his boys have a tradition of eating breakfast here so it was no surprise when one son was passing through town on vacation with his girlfriend and chose to meet us here for breakfast! At 10:00 the place was already crowded, but we didn't have to wait too long for a table for four. The others in our party knew exactly what they wanted but since I haven't eaten at a Waffle House as much it took me longer to review the menu and decide. I was pleasantly surprised to find turkey breakfast sausage on the menu, and I enjoyed eating it. Between the four of us I think we had waffles, eggs and sausage, breakfast sandwich, cheese grits, and I'm not sure what else. The company was great, the service was good, the food was filling, and the adult "kids" were back on the road in no time. A good time was had by all in our party! Waffle House isn't available in my state, so I was eager to visit when I found myself staying at a nearby hotel. Around 11:00 PM, after flying into SDF and driving to Frankfort for the night, I finally got the chance to check it out. The restaurant had a few late night diners, but nobody was crazy or suspicious. The waitress quickly came over to my table and greeted me with a warm smile. She took my order promptly, and all the food came out correctly. She was checking in on me while I was eating to ensure I didn't need anything. The food tasted good, and it's such a great value. A meal for two with drinks was less than $25, and it's cooked to order. Can't really beat that. Overall I had a positive experience. It's surprising that I got amazing service from a Waffle House, and back home in LA I can't even get decent service from a restaurant that charges $10+ for an orange juice. read more

Surprisingly, we ate at Waffle House twice on this trip because it's fast and cheap. Service was okay as they needed to bus the tables and waitress was chatting it up with other customers. I've been to Waffle Houses before and they've really cleaned up. Restaurant seems more airy and bright. Food is standard faire but can't beat the prices and the coffee is always good. Now that I'm getting up in age, had to take advantage of the waffle and sausage for $6 including tax. Now that's a bargain. read more

This is a standard waffle House. Do not expect more or less than the average waffle house. It is open 24/7 including Christmas, new year's and Thanksgiving. The food is decent. I however always ask for my hash browns extra crispy and they never quite get there, but they get close. read more

Rolled into town late one night, hungry, everything else was closed, had never been to a Waffle House before so it was worth taking a chance. Walking in, the place just had a dreary, run-down vibe to it. Nothing specific I can point to, seemed clean enough. Was mostly empty at that late hour. Oddly I've never been to a Waffle House. With most of my travels in the upper midwest and west I've had little chance. During a quick visit to Kentucky I skipped the free hotel breakfast and thought I'd give it a try. It's breakfast - hard to screw up. I ordered the Hashbrown Bowl, kind of a skillet breakfast in a bowl. They wouldn't poach the eggs, when I asked the server looked at me like I was a martian. So, scrambled it is. The order arrived quickly and was hot and tasty. There were six or seven employees visible so things happen quickly. I travel with a service dog and when I arrived I was starting to put the dog under the table as I always do. However the floor was so gross and dirty I ended up with him in the aisle next to the booth. The floors everywhere were dirty as were light fixtures and other areas. I know 24 hour restaurants are a challenge, but this place needs a good clean. read more

I have had no complaints up until our visit today. We walk in and there is only one available table but it's extremely dirty. The manager tells us the server will be over to clean it "in a sec". Well after standing there for ten minutes and seeing them take multiple orders and then bring out those orders, we tried a different approach and sat down at the table. A group of people walked in and the manager very loudly complained that there were more people coming in. She then ate some waffle and started making more orders, while our server just stood there. I asked if I should clean the table and she curtly replied "no I'll do it in a sec"....well we already waited "a sec" that turned into 10+ minutes. We ended up walking out. They were clearly ignoring people on purpose to get them to leave because they were overwhelmed by the rush. I would have been fine if they every so often checked in and said "I'm so sorry for the wait I will get to that as soon possible". I was so excited to go back to a Waffle House because where I come from, we don't have any. Mind you, this isn't my first experience of going to one so I knew what to expect..... or so I thought I did. Every single one of our orders was messed up. (5 of us in my group). two people ordered the exact same thing and they came out wrong. How does that even happen?!?!!?!?! I had to remind the girl that I was still supposed to get sausage and a waffle. It's their number one seller on their menu and you forget what comes with it?!?!? And all of this after four other tables that came in behind us had gotten all of their food...,.unbelievable!!! I did notice that the other tables were having just as much problems with their orders as we were. It's a Waffle House. If you've been to one, you know what to expect. This one has always had decent service, and it's close to my office. When I've got a few extra minutes before work, or after a workout at the Planet Fitness across the street, this is a great place to stop for a quick bite. I nearly always get a grilled cheese, hash browns and a Coke. It's a simple meal, and inexpensive. Add a little hot sauce, and I'm happy. Don't forget... If you get decent service, leave a good tip. Working as a server at Waffle House has to be one of the least pleasant service jobs. Good service deserves a good tip, regardless of how cheap your meal was. read more

Do not eat here. The restaurant is dirty, the food is far below average, you can make better food at home, and the mistakes made are huge. I've had fried eggs there that have barely touched the griddle, I expected a runny yolk, but not runny egg white. To top that off, there was a hair in the eggs, luckily they were too disgusting to even explore taking a bite-I might have...I don't even want to think about it. What about the chocolate chip waffle my friend ordered? Well, it was a waffle, with a handful of chocolate chips dumped on top of it. Just to be clear, they didn't put the chocolate chips in the batter, which is what's supposed to happen, they threw the chips on at the last moment. Do not eat here. read more

I enjoy Waffle House. It's one of the only places to eat 24 hours in Frankfort. The food is always consistent and you know they will always be open. I have been here many times before and this trip there were two younger people, named Dante & Ashley working, which I liked because they were very attentive, nice, cleaning and working the entire time I was there. The restaurant could use a deep cleaning but they do a decent job keeping up with rowdy customers and never closing. As long as the servers and food stays the same I'll be back. read more

It has been a long time since I visited Waffle House. The coffee still needs work, and I do wonder if anyone really likes it. We had a young guest who has been wanting waffles for quite some time. The kitchen was a complete mess and they were out of grits. These two things may be connected. But being out of grits is unforgivable. The waffles are now a fairly thin item, about half what they were when I was rowing up. If this made them healthoer, maybe it would be OK. But they are not healthier, especially with the syrup. These places are everywhere in Kentucky and Ohio, and my boyfriend was dying to try it so we did. I wasnt impressed, and I can't say that I will be back. We ordered eggs done the same way - mine were terribly overcooked though his were just fine. If you like mixing up your hashbrowns, they do offer them many different ways - with onions, chili, cheese, just to name a few - so that's a fun perk if it's something you really care about. It's a diner. So I suppose if you go in not expecting much, you wont be too disappointed. Didn't have the waffles so I can't given an opinion in that regard. read more

We love waffle house. We've had a couple rough visits at this one where the food wasn't that great, or the service may not have been the best, but overall, it's been great. After our last visit (on my birthday), it wasn't the best experience, so I called the number on the door to let them know. The next day, I got a call from the division manager, and he more than made up for our not so great visit. And the food and service was 100x better (great job Brandon!) Good food! I mean, I love waffles and bacon. Those two things are pretty difficult to mess up the only bad thing about Waffle House is the cost of their food. They probably have less than one dollar in their ingredients for waffle and bacon but charge way more than that. But, a business has to make money in order to make it! read more

The five star rating does little to encapsulate the pure, unfiltered joy that overwhelms me whenever I walk into this establishment. The workers serve with an upright zeal, dishing out bacon and golden brown waffles with rigor and enthusiasm. Were I to ever do drugs, though I have a strict moral code that allow that conduct, I would definitely drive here at the witch's hour (3 am, if you didn't know) actually I would have a sober friend drive me because road safety, but I would eat here nonetheless. And it would be delicious. It IS delicious. Allow me to tell you a personal anecdote in which Waffle House is a key player. Once, many a year ago, I was visiting the great country of Panama City with my family, and we decided to walk on the beach. We got lost, and having emerged from the sandy, liberally littered shores, found that we had walked the distance between one Waffle House and another. It was the most inspiring, transformative night in my life, next to my being saved by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Genuinely, Waffle House is my comfort and my muse. I plan to own one one day, and when I die, family friend Jeffrey will inherit it, and I have no doubts that in his hands, Waffle House will go from a shining beacon of the American Dream to a heavenly oasis where everyday people can join together in harmony and eat hashbrowns. So on our trip to Frankfort, my family and I stopped for breakfast here and almost immediately we were turned off. There were three of us, me, the wife and my two year old. The seats were too small for one and then our waitress, as sweet as she was, had a nasty busted down grill (teeth). The waffles were so uneventful and the toast was cheap. They charge 91 cents extra for a To-Go order. My order was for an omelet only, so it's not as if it were a huge or unusual order. I cancelled the order after being shown the price and before the order was sent back to be cooked. To Whom It May Concern, I am a Black woman in her early sixties who loves to travel and just recently spent a great time at a lavish resort on Hiltonhead, South Carolina. On Saturday January 12, 2013 at 7:30 I came to your restaurant at the following address: Waffle House #1493 (502) 695-5059 1594 Versailles Rd. Frankfort, Ky 40601 I want to relay to you how I was treated on my visit. My daughter-in-law, granddaughter and I came to this Frankfort eatery to get a quick bite to eat. When we entered the restaurant the lady at the register looked me dead in the eyes. I knew the look well; after all, I was raised in the South. She quickly turned from the register and began to clean a spotless metal appliance located behind the register. For several minutes she cleaned this spotless appliance over and over again, while we waited patiently at the counter to be served. Several more minutes went by. By this time the lady took up a knife and was deep cleaning this spotless appliance, digging into the single crevice of the appliance. Without looking up or making eye contact she told us that she would be with us in a minute (which let me know that she was aware of our presence). For several more minutes she worked on shining this spotless appliance. I spoke up and told my daughter-in-law that we were going to leave. She asked if I was sure and I said yes, that I was fully aware of what was happening. During this conversation that was taking place only a few feet from the lady, she never once stopped to take our order, stopped to apologize for the delay nor did she try to prevent us from taking our business elsewhere. Not once. Leaving and walking only five feet down the ramp, I told my daughter-in-law that I was going back to get the lady's name. In the brief 20 seconds that it took for us to exit the restaurant to the time that I re-entered the restaurant magic occurred. The appliance was cleaned to the satisfaction of the cash register lady and she was back at her post ready to take food orders. I approached her and asked her name. Kri##, she said. I said thanks and exited the establishment. Here another opportunity was presented to Kri## to apologize for the delay or ask if something was wrong or to try to win back a customer. Kri## availed herself to no opportunity. She was unabashedly unashamed. There were no other customers behind me. There were two other workers present, one was cooking and the other was legitimately cleaning the floors. No Blacks were employed at this place and only White customers were present eating. This is twenty freaking thirteen, not 1950 in the Deep South. There are no "Whites Only" signs anymore, just the ones that still exist in the dark hearts of certain individuals still holding on to their racist ideas. How dare a restaurant chain as big as the Waffle House tolerate such ignorance. In an age of mandatory tolerance, establishments have mandatory sensitivity training for all employees. Nonetheless, the Waffle House has become the NEW DENNY'S. And maybe after much blogging on the internet by me and others who do not care to be taken back to the 1950's and dropping letters to local papers, and maybe a law suit or two, the Waffle House will tell employees like Kri## that her actions are a Federal Crime and are not tolerated anymore. read more
