I walked into this establishment one morning and walked out with my life changed. I sat down and had some of the best service and best food of my god damn life. If you walk in and you see big man at the grill you know it's gonna be good asf. We tore our plates up even though that shit had us in the bathroom fighting for our life 30 minutes later. Oh, forgive me Houston for never having gone to this place before. We were in search of a Denny's or IHOP, but decided to give a Waffle House a try. What I liked about it was that the food was cheap, tasty, and it came out quick. You could see the cooks making the food and they would interact with you on such a friendly level. The cooks made the place and could be tipped. We didn't have cash, usually our tips our via credit card, so that made me sad. I would have given him one. The place is small, but you'll notice from the onset it's a homey, friendly, nonpretentious place where everyone is treated as if they entered a second home. Now, it should be noted that the place is small, but it seemed it was easy for people to come in and out, due to how fast they were. There was construction around the restaurant, that made entering the parking lot a bit of a maze, but you'll get in if you drive around the perimeter and enter the first driveway you find. Also as the name suggests there is literally nothing healthy here. However, when you eat delicious chocolate chip waffles, pecan waffles, and buttery toast, you kinda forget things like calories. Came in for a quick lunch break but was immediately met with with a waitress complaining about having to work. After sitting on a stool at the counter she asks me if I would be eating in or taking out. Once I tell her that I would be eating in, she makes a exasperated face of disdain, starts complaining again about how busy it was getting as she tells me she'll be right with me. I watch as she goes back arranging utensils and receipts for several minutes before again acknowledging that she would be right with. She then proceeds to cough open mouth all over the immediate area with me just being a few feet away. She then continues doing her what ever before ever again even taking my drink order. I sad that this is the work staff we have to accept. I'm willing to bet the owner or manager would fire her if they could but unfortunately would have just to much trouble filling the position. Customer service is HORRIBLE here. My friend and I ordered from the bar top area and was serviced by this young boy who apparently was having a bad day. Did not greet us and rushed our orders. I ordered orange juice and asked for a cup of ice and a straw. Never got the ice and reminded him. He gave me the ice and I reminded him about the straw. He rolled his eyes and threw it on the table. Later my friend asked for water. He gave her water and she asked for a straw because she wasn't given one. He never responded; a couple minutes later he asked someone to bring him a straw and he threw it on the table. Food arrived and we finished our All Star plate when we finally got our waffle and I was still missing bacon. We asked for syrup and my bacon I never received and he replied, "I can't do this today!" And proceeded to call us "diablas" to his coworker as if we couldn't understand him. His manager approached us asking if there was an issue and I asked what his attitude was for when we were just asking for the basics. She pulled him aside and had a talk with him. She gave us our tickets so he did not have to interact with us. Throughout he continued to have a petty attitude and the manager did not further address the issue and did not ensure we were okay as we were finishing up our food. At that point we had no server or anything. Upon finishing, one of his coworkers told him I did not tip him and rightfully so. They began another round of childish remarks. There's a reason why this particular Waffle House is currently a 4 stars establishment. It's basically down to the service, service, service. I have pretty much trekked to various Waffle Houses in the greater Houston area and in other states, the food has been very consistently decent. But sometimes it's hard to get the good service between the hours of 2:00AM to 6:00AM but this Waffle House delivered on that. I met up with a friend for some very late night / early morning chat and breakfast. The server was very attentive as she actually checked on us and the other table to refill our water and coffee. I do have to say that for some reason, this particular Waffle House is much, much colder than the other ones. But as soon as I got my cup of Joe, my body temperature slowly adjusted to the tundra weather that's inside the restaurant. The food did come out in good time and there wasn't anything off or missing. But again, like any other Waffle House, it's really hard for them to mess up on the food. I would certainly come back to this Waffle House if I was ever on this side of the town and needed some greasy breakfast food for any reason. read more

Spent July 4th at a party, woke up starving. This is, by far, May favorite Waffle House in the Houston area. Today (June 5) was no exception. Still got seated in about 5mins at 10:00am because a hostess was clearing and bussing as soon as someone left. Our waitress was on top of it with getting our drinks and giving us menus. We never went more than a minute or two without her checking on us and if we needed something, it was there in 15 seconds max (and that's as she served other customers at other tables). The cooks were on top of it and my entire meal was cooked exactly how I wanted it--crispy bacon, smooth and creamy grits (not runny or lumpy!), my eggs scrambled hard. Having heard Jim Gaffigan's take on the Waffle House, we were ecstatic to see one across the street from our hotel. (There are no Waffle House's in California.) We went there for breakfast and luckily got the booth closest to the one guy cooking. I say luckily because he put on a one-man crazy-fast short-order-cook show. And it's not like anything was easy. No pre-cracked eggs here. He was actually cracking the eggs, scrambling them and cooking them on the grill. Everything from scratch. For the entire restaurant. All at the same time. Real eggs, real bacon, hash browns, and of course waffles, all cooking simultaneously with the waitresses yelling at each other like NBA players on defense making sure backs were covered, tables were cleaned, orders were taken and coffees refilled. I really hate writing bad reviews but it must be done for this Waffle House location. My family and I visited yesterday and was promptly waited on. The staff even spoke when we walk in and our waiter was very friendly. HOWEVER, the entire staff looked unkept and so gross. Our waiter had a booger hanging from his nose. We are so glad we made the stop, I had the Texas bacon egg cheese melt ( the bread so nicely toasted and my eggs delicious) and B had the All Star Special ( a lot of food) the service was fast the staff very cordial and well our bill was under $25 for both. OMG is this Waffle House hard to get into. We were craving some Waffle House on our way back to Austin from New Orleans last night. I had seen this Waffle house off of I-10 and Hwy 6 plenty of times before, so I knew that's the one I wanted to head to. I exit, see the sign, and I figure I can stay on the I-10 access road and pull right in. Nope. Not even into the Sam's Club next door. Take two- we are determined to head to this Waffle House and turn around on the I-10 frontage road going east and then on the Hwy 6 access going north. We turn around, looking for an entrance to the Waffle House. We pass by a big entrance to Sam's Club and then we're smack on the I-10 access road again! What gives? Waffle House does not have it's own entrance. Ever determined to head to Waffle House, believing that the 3rd time is the charm we followed the aforementioned route and went in through the Sam's Club parking lot. Once we were there we had the most wonderful breakfast experience imaginable with great service and friendly smiles. Definitely a needed stop on the long trip. UGH!!! I wanted so bad to love or even like this place being that I live right around the corner and Lord knows I love Waffle House Cheese Eggs!!! However I have tried several times and each time has been more disgusting than the first. The tables always have left over plates from previous customers. Waffle House will always have a special place in my heart. When I moved back to California for a few years, just the mentioning of "Waffle House" brought sparkly butterfly flashbacks of late-night shenanigans and craving satiations. That said, when I was finally able to come back after a year of absence, I was pretty stoked. Hubbs, two friends and I had just finished a round of whacking balls at Top Golf and decided to eat a light lunch. Since it was close by, we decided to head over. This location isn't very different than the others; same bar and booth layout and pretty packed. We had to wait a little while before snagging an empty table, and before long, our friendly waitress took our order. This was the first time I had gotten the pecan waffle. First, though, I must say that they have perfected the diner waffle. Perfectly cooked, outside not too crispy, batter perfectly sweet, making you look forward to the next bite. Add pecans, and you definitely have a winner. You don't even need to add butter (or rather, 'buttery spread') or syrup, but I did anyway, because waffles or pancakes without butter and syrup just feels naked to me. I also got hashbrowns with mushrooms, grilled tomatoes, grilled onions and cheese. Meh. The hashbrowns were warmed through enough to make the cheese melt, but the tomatoes seemed more raw than grilled, making the hashbrowns a little watery. And there wasn't a nice crunchy crust on the top like I was hoping. Luci S. got the burger from the Dollar menu. We were so intrigued that we had to get it. Just listen to me: don't get it. I know it's only a dollar. It's gross. The bread was toasted and too dry, and the patty was really small and dried out... no moisture and little flavor. It also included a bunch of chopped onions and *one* pickle. Hahaha. Honestly I think a McDouble tastes better and it's the same price. Anyway, even though the experience was pretty mediocre, WH will always create a nostalgic attachment to make me come back time and time again. I mean, the waffles alone will always have my heart!
