Waffle House has become an iconic presence on the culinary landscape here in the southeastern United States. It seems that their familiar logo beckons in all of its bright yellow neon glory road-weary travelers, partying college kids, parents with kids in tow, hungry workers seeking a casual and quick sit-down meal and just about everyone else from every walk of life. Since Waffle House opened its first location back on September 5, 1955 in Avondale Estates, Georgia, it quickly established itself by offering a consistent selection of food and by being open twenty-four hours a day. For me, the biggest appeal of Waffle House has always been their hash browns, which you can get basic or topped with a variety of toppings such as chili, white sausage gravy, cheese, ham, onions and so many more items and you can combine these toppings in a multitude of ways. For my main course, I have usually gone with their patty melts or one of their egg breakfast options. I myself can see the strangeness that I have never had a waffle in a business where waffle is in their very name, but I prefer a more savory breakfast than a sweet one. If you are in the southeast United States, odds are you have probably passed a Waffle House location. It seems that they are on almost every major highway exit ramp and strategically placed throughout most cities and towns in the southeast. If you see one, give them a try. read more

I visited with family and had such a great time! Our server was 'Nikki' and she was attentive and very nice. All of the food was hot and fresh, it was correct, and it didn't take long. They were really cranking out the orders, we were super impressed. Very good hospitality at this location! I ordered the cheese grits, crispy hash browns, and a waffle. I couldn't finish everything, but it was delicious and filling. I love fresh waffles! My dad ordered a breakfast I think and it came with toast, bacon, eggs, sausage, and cheese grits. I went here out of desperation. It's was 11PM. The place was empty. The employees were sitting in the booths. I was holding my breath. I walk in and everyone comes alive like I was the most important person in the world. The waitress comes up and gets my drink order and when she comes back I order my food. By then the cook has washed his hands and put on clean gloves. My two egg breakfast is cooked to perfection. The bacon is crisp but not burnt. I order a biscuit and it's a ready made one buts it's been on the grill so it's acceptable. My Diet Coke is refilled in a timely fashion. A perfect visit. The check was $13.50 and I left $25. Only 2 stars... came here bc of the good reviews. Came in and sat at the only available booth near the grill (w a coffee cup and dirty silverware still on it). Kid you not, it was 12 minutes until a waitress came to the table and acknowledged me there! Not even in her passing multiple times did she say,"I'll be with you shortly ". I used to frequent Waffle House when I was a starving college student. There was one right by me in Davie but I haven't gone in many years. After a sleepless night in a seedy hotel we were in the area to grab an SD card for our camera before heading up to Ichetucknee Springs State Park to go tubing. I wanted to have a filling breakfast because I wasn't sure what the food situation was at the park. My daughter had never been to Waffle House so I decided it was time she found out what is all about. When we waked in it was pretty empty and we were invited to sit where ever we liked. I wanted certain items and I was too tired to go over the menu. Thankfully our waitress took what we wanted and put it into the most money saving configuration. I had the pecan waffle, hash browns, and bacon. After insisting my daughter get one she ordered the pecan waffle, scrambled eggs, and bacon. As we waited a hilarious conversation ensued over the proper way to pronounce pecan. There was some kind of training going on so we had a lot of people making our breakfast. Everything was delicious and filling. I forgot how much I have missed a pecan waffle. As we were leaving they poured the rest of my coffee and my daughter's juice in to go cups for us to take with us. The visit to waffle house started turning our trip back into a good direction and we had a wonderful rest of the day tubing down the river. I wish this Waffle House was near where I lived. We were immediately greeted by a friendly staff. At most other locations, I order raisin bread and never get it. Here our waitress offered and delivered! She was super friendly and attentive. Had the best service from Josh! Food was delicious and portions generous. My only complaint is that they need to have a nut free waffle iron. I really wanted waffles but they didn't have any waffle irons that had not been used for pecan waffles. I can't take chances with my nut allergy! read more
