On a trip to Dutch Wonderland, we had planned to eat at Waffle House before the park because WH are always fast and reliable. We got to the restaurant around 11am on a Thursday, and the place was packed. We had to wait a few minutes for a table to be cleaned, no big deal. There were a bunch of people behind the counter cooking and prepping and only two servers who were also bussing tables. We sat and waited for about five minutes before our server came to take our orders, he seemed friendly enough, at that moment. We had been on the road for over an hour prior to this and I was parched. I patiently sat and waited for our drinks to come and was surprised when our food finally arrived before our drinks. Now I don't know about you, but I need a beverage with my meal, it's just how I eat, you know, like a human being. I watched the server to see if he was getting our drinks but he continued to tend to other patrons, taking orders, refilling drinks and handing out checks. I understand he was busy and busting his ass to try to serve everyone. I finally decided to wave him down and gestured that we were still waiting on drinks. That's when he shouted across the restaurant "I see you! You aren't the only person in the restaurant!" I was pretty perturbed, as he proceeded to brag to other customers that he was from Brooklyn, so I guess that gives him the right to be a smart ass to customers. We also had to wait for our check and ended up spending about an hour at the restaurant, which seems excessive for a diner. The food was food, what we expected, but maybe have one more server, a busser or a food runner to handle some extra stuff. read more

So this was my first Waffle House experience, so maybe I'm just awe struck, but it was amazing. When we started the beginning, I live about an hour away from this waffle house and I was watching Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown. Now, I'm watching an episode where he goes to a waffle house and the guy he's with has devised the perfect tasting menu for a waffle house experience. I'm watching them gorge themselves on amazing comfort foods, and I know I need to get some of this. They start with hash browns, then a pecan waffle, followed by splitting a patty melt, then a garden salad, ending with either pork chops or a T-bone steak. My girlfriend and I made a trip out here at 1:30am, knowing this is a 24 hour establishment, we get there a little after 2. We are greeted by some of the most polite and inviting wait staff I've ever seen, and I like to eat so you know I've been served a lot of food over the years and to say these were some of the nicest ladies you'd ever meet is saying something. The place was clean as a whistle, everything freshly wiped down and fresh; I was impressed. The first part of my meal, a staple at the Waffle House, Hashbrowns. Smothered, covered, chunked, diced, peppered, capped, topped, and country; these words form a set code of toppings and utter heaven when sitting atop golden brown potato goodness... Now, any combination of these delights would be enough to satisfy, but what about that ominous "ALL THE WAY" they have listed at the bottom? A massive amalgamation of textures and flavors bordering on orgasmic, so many combinations that every bite is different. It's unbelievable. Second up is, of course, a Waffle. A pecan waffle to be exact. Smothered in butter and drowning in syrup, it's exactly what you need even if it's not exactly what your body wants; but hell, you know it is. Last on the menu for tonight is that classic diner staple, the patty melt. Combining the best qualities of grilled cheese and a burger, covered in onions and bacon, resting happily between two pieces of beautiful Texas toast. Was I hoping to get in the remaining courses of the unofficial tasting menu? Certainly, but the patty melt was a delicious place to stop. So yes, I didn't make it to the salad or steak, but I'll be back. To put a bow on this, I give this Waffle House a five star rating, they earned it. read more

THE PRICE IS RIGHT! I had to give this specific location a high rating (ONLY) because the staff was exceptional. Very friendly and the service was prompt. The food was diner type breakfast; nothing to rant about. If you are looking for a quick, fast food type breakfast, take a seat and enjoy. read more

The Waffle House, also known as "The Waf" by college kids is certainly a beneficent addition to any community. It not only permits college students to cram at the last minute, but also offers the refuge of employment to the "chronically over-tatted" crowd. I mean, how many times in life will you be waited on by someone who has more tattoes than there are menu items on the menu? And the even better part is that they will show you all of their tattoes most of the time. Oh yeah, and where else can you order stuff, stuffed, loaded, canned, frozen, baked, diced, rolled and no mold? Seriously, they don't call it "the waf" for nothing. read more

Our first mistake was deciding last minute to eat out on Christmas late afternoon without researching who was open. Our second mistake was coming here. Well....it was a mistake but not entirely an unpleasant one. Biggest issue here is cleanliness or lack thereof. It's pretty gross, no denying it. The tables were dirty, the floor was filthy, and overall it didn't have the look of someplace you'd actually want to consume food. We sat at the counter, and although our interactions with the employees were very pleasant (in fact we were impressed at their dedication and long hours, some actually were still on from the overnight shift the day before) and the food was tasty (good actually but not filling) we noticed things that could not be ignored: Dirt, everywhere! Employees that were wiping their noses, scratching and picking at their head and ears with no hand washing. An employee while putting the plates away had her hands and fingers all over the portion where the food would go and not the edges. Eggs sitting out clearly labeled out at 11 am and to be discarded at 3, still out in room temperature after 4 pm. A cook handling raw meat, complete with dripping blood from the fridge, without gloves, than immediately handling and plating cooked food. Bacon and other meat not wrapped up, clearly visible to the public when the door to the fridge is opened. Then there were the customer service issues: Our waitress, although extremely friendly and well spoken did not follow up. We had to flag her down or ask other employees for everything. A patty melt sandwich served minus all the onions that make it a patty melt. We ordered from the "favorites" menu which we assumed was the only menu, only to be told after dining that there was a full menu available with more options. Wrong addition on our bill - items missing or not charged, which actually worked out to our advantage. Napkins that were thin as tissue paper. My food was served on a chipped plate. Menu states two different serving sizes of pie, complete with different pricing, only to be told there was only one size for one price. Overall lack of organization and thought out dining arrangement. The restaurant had a corner where a large number of extra chairs sat with no tables, although that space could easily house and put to use another 4- 4 seater tables at least. On the plus side the food was good but servings were skimpy, even after we worked out the kinks and got everything we were supposed to. The patty melt was cooked perfectly, juicy, and flavorful, and the hash browns were the best I had. While the one cook (short darked haired young man working a double shift) seemed to display the proper food handling techniques the tall and very, very skinny (veins protruding from his arms skinny) other cook let blood drip all over the place and didn't wear gloves. I also didn't see anyone wash their hands or wear a hairnet during our entire dining experience. They do have some genuinely nice, dedicated employees here. I blame management as they need to step up to the plate and teach them proper food handling and customer service, and make more of an effort to at least keep the place presentable. The manager on duty at the time of our visit did very little except walk around and put a few plates away. Most of the time he wasn't even visible. The staff could have used his help (as they were steady but not obnoxiously busy), or at least made his rounds checking on customers. When it's all said and done we most likely will never frequent this location again due to the poor food handling and dirt. An only time will tell if our stomachs are safe, but we would visit another location for a cheap, quick bite. read more

Very clean , updated decor compared to the other hundred or so I've been to in the south. Inexpensive and tasty menu . Friendly wait staff . Easy to find . Great place to eat when at the outlets . If you haven't been to one being that you live north of the mason Dixon - thus is a shining example of shat they should be . On the three occasions in the last decade that I've been to the Waffle House, I have seen the owner mistreat her staff to the point of abuse. The food is palatable, but it's not worth seeing the staff being abused. Go elsewhere. read more

To my surprise the restaurant wasn't clean, I went with a friend and it was just the two of us in the restaurant. The floors were dirty with some napkins on the floor and the employee was just on her phone with headphones in. Service was great though and the cook was friendly. Maybe part of it is my fault, but some is theirs. I always wanted to try a Waffle House so I went after a show in town. Instead of ordering a breakfast entree I ordered the Texas chicken melt. It was more cheese than chicken or bacon and just a bad sandwich. OK I ordered it partly my fault. But what got me upset is after ordering off a rather small menu I noticed piles of " take out" menus in a bin right behind us. I reached back and grabbed it and began reading it. To my surprise it had dozens of extra choices we were not made aware of. Not once were we told about these menus and thus were limited in our choices. read more

Went for breakfast with the family. Kids wanted to stop. Was very pleased. The staff is very friendly and courteous. The kids sat at the counter and my wife and I sat in booth. I placed a online order and I was trying to tell the cashier what I wanted for my order as the manger was literally yelling and cackling right next to her, I repeated my order to her twice just because I knew even she was having a difficult time hearing me which she let me know that, saying sry I can't hear you it's a little loud in here, I replied I can tell lol, as I arrived to pick up my food it was not the right order that I tried my best to get her to understand with the manger being so loud and obnoxious in the background, then I had to wait around for the rest of my food to be made and this seemed to do nothing but annoy the noisy manger, honestly he needs to be a little more considerate of his employees if there on the phone trying to place an order, was very inconvenient experience. Food was great but considering it's waffles and bacon you would imagine they would try to perfect the customer service part of there business a little better. read more

For my dollar the best bargain in Lancaster. Great value, clean and friendly service. I had the $6 bacon grilled cheese hash browns and drink. Bacon was crispy and done to perfection. The bacon egg and cheese biscuit hash browns and drink &6 meal was also very good - biscuit was fresh and flaky. Great value for families with reasonably priced childrens meals. Restroom was clean. If you're looking for a fancy meal, Waffle House should never be your choice. They serve good food in a noisy environment, with bare bones amenities. Their menus are laminated, with one side being breakfast choices and the other side being the lunch/dinner choices. Open 24/7, they are an experience. No computer generated checks here. Servers hand-write your order and then speak the order to the cooking crew. An employee mans (womans?) each station so that your food is brought to you when complete. That means it may arrive at separate times instead of on one pretty plate. Rusty was our server, and his singing is entertaining to the customers, but head-scratching to his co-workers. However, he is a character, in a good way. Waffles are delicious, and hash browns are great but you need to know the lingo before ordering them. Bacon and sausage were perfectly cooked and tasted real. Coffee is really good, too. It's noisy, busy, and fast-paced, so if you're hungry, sit at the counter and watch everyone in action. It's a well organized show, and worth every dollar and forkful. read more

This is our fourth waffle house we have been to, this one was not so good if you drink coffee. I had to get my cup changed twice because it had remnants of other people's food in it! Overall atmosphere and service was good, just make sure you check those cups!! read more

This place was awful!!! I didn't even want to leave a tip and I've never done that in my life. Customer service doesn't exist here. We seated ourselves and then were asked right away two different times back to back if we were ready to order. We had just sat down! The noise level was out of this world. Chimps at the zoo are quieter than the Waffle House employees who shouted out orders while silverware crashed in the background. The place was filthy and unorganized. It's the restaurant equivalent of a Dollar Store. No offense to Dollar Stores everywhere. One of the employees walked around with a broom sweeping as customers ate. After our "waitress" took our order, she returned with the food and our check. We never saw her again. I flagged down the lady carrying the broom and asked if she could bring us some juice since Houdini left us hanging. The highlight of our experience here was meeting an elderly gentleman at checkout who plays Santa during the holidays. But next time we'll just catch him at the mall. read more

Placemat/menu hadn't been cleaned, VERY limited menu, waffle was undercooked (it was more like an undercooked, textured pancake), and the bacon was soggy. I was visiting and a friend suggested we go to the Waffle House. Nice service and the quality of the food was excellent. I ordered an omlette. Price was right too! The waitress was so friendly too. We went to eat on June 9, 2019 at 2pm. We received bloody silverware. I did not catch our waitress name. She was bleeding from her hand, while wearing a glove. She did nit even notice she was bleeding outside of the glove and handed us our drinks with a bleeding hand. Once I asked the lady for new silverware, she came back with plastic silverware in the bag. Not even new silverware. She yelled across from the restaurant to let her know when we were ready to give our drink orders. There was another employee who was cleaning the table behind us and yelled across the restaurant to a different employee that he got his dishes done and to not bother him on anyone else's dishes. VERY RUDE. We were only here for 10 minutes and left. We politely paid for our drinks we did not even drink. We will NEVER be going back to that waffle house again. I will be contacting the food inspection department to make sure that place gets their crap in order. They should never let an EMPLOYEE WHO IS BLEEDING handle food and drinks!!!! read more

The restaurant was not very clean. Table and menu were sticky from not cleaning properly. Walking into the restaurant the floor was also very sticky. They need to take time to clean the whole establishment from the top to bottom. Everything was greasy, silverware was filthy. Tables, chairs, floor were dirty. read more
