Here's what you came for ...
    Adam B.

Alright ... during my visit to The Waffle House, I was a semi-hungover Northerner is a strange southern land looking to imbibe as much greasy food as possible to offset the churning IPA alchohol leftover from the night before causing my head to feel as though a midget was trying to fuck its way out of my cranium using a spiked condom. Behold, the pecan waffle submerged in cheap sugary brown syrup, hashbrowns with melted cheese oozing on top and thin hockey puck looking mystery meat doubling up as sausage. It will cure ... or make things worse. Only one way to find out ... The food here is no better or worse than you'd find in an average college cafeteria, Disney resort or cruise ship buffet. You sit at the counter, or table if you must, and watch poor overworked folks perform a symphony of breakfast movements ... the pouring of pulpy orange juice, the flipping of pancakes with a scraping metal spatula or ladeling sticky waffle batter into a machine next to a sizzling griddle. You come here for 4 reasons: 1.) You are drunk. 2.) You are hungover from being drunk. 3.) You live in town and this is your fast breakfast spot. 4.) You are from a place where there are none of these and you are instagramming your food with cloyingly clever captions about bacon and the south. Either way, you aren't going to leave here thinking this is the best meal you ever ate, like a drunken Anthony Bourdain did. The Waffle House scratches an itch ... its a hearty serving of unhealthy junk food masquerading as the most important meal of the day. To your personal trainer, its a worst nightmare. To your throbbing head, it's a dream come true. It's satisfying, fulfilling and cheap. The hash browns are likely bagged and reheated on a griddle. A piece of square cheese is melted on top. The sausage slices are salty tasting and oddly textured as if they were poured from a liquified state and flattened. The pecan waffle is nothing you couldn't make in a toaster (leggo my eggo!) but covered in sticky fake maple syrup and dressed with creamy butter from a packet, it just might make your eyes roll back into your head a little. This is generic, fast food-ish diner grub. But damn is it good sometimes when you are in 'don't give a fuck' mode and need a fast fix of breakfast type food. It tastes even better if you are from an area that doesn't have a Waffle House anywhere nearby. Or if you are shitfaced. Kind of like if Denny's and White Castle had a baby ... this would be it.

Well, it's a Waffle House. Don't expect 5 start plates or service. A really good place though.

First off, I love the history of this building... 1800s, supposedly the jail at some point long ago. You can just feel the history and imagine what took place in there as you sit and wait for your meal. The staff are all fun and attentive, and our server -- who was also tending bar that day -- was amazing! We were there early enough for the half priced apps, and weren't hungry enough for a full meal. I ordered a side salad with ranch, and we split the smoked nachos. When they came out, it was a huge portion and enough for both my wife and I. The only drawback is that they didn't have any sour cream that we could add to the nachos... It may seem trivial, but I've never needed anyplace that didn't have sour cream for the nachos. Because of that, I will give this a 4.75 stars. We will definitely be back!

RC had approached her with a flier at a gas station, informing her that his restaurant had just opened up. Anyway, I'm ordering my meal, the same meal I always get each time I go. Fried fish (whiting), collards and the baked beans (unmatched). And he goes, "What would you like to drink?".... I'm like, "What do you have?" (Assuming the usual. Sweet tea. Lemonade... I was probably gonna go with sweet tea. ) He lists sweet tea of course, and then hes like, "Kool-Aid, coke, sprite" - IM LIKE WAIT. DID YOU SAID KOOL-AID?......... He's like, "Yeah??..." Im like, "what flavor???.... "Purple?...." I had never heard of that at a restaurant, and quiet frankly, that's all I needed to know. At this point, I literally go nowhere else for soul food. Also, RC is amazing. Really good guy, and his team offer the best service as well. A job well done, always.
