Came here this morning, a little apprehensive at first. The two employees were hunched over the counter talking and pretty much didn't acknowledge us coming in except the sit where you want comment. We ordered up our food, at this point I now know why the two were hunched over the counter. They'd been there since 9:00 the night before and now it's 7:00 am. Anyways the old gal managed to put the meal together and it was pretty good. Now we made it through them and into the next group of employees and they were great. Friendly and efficient. Went this morning and they would not clean off a table and when I moved them and wiped the table off they still ignored us and then said that works when we finally left. Will not be back especially since IHOP is around the corner. read more

My wife and I decided to dine in at ihop in Marshall for lunch today. We were greeted and seated immediately upon arrival. We ordered our drinks which arrived promptly. We then ordered our food. After 40 minutes of waiting on our food, the manager approached our table and said the credit/debit cards are down and we would have to pay cash or cashapp. We don't have any cash on us and a friend of ours recently got hacked through cashapp so I wasn't about to use that. Instead of the manager just going ahead and giving us our food (which by the way was sitting on the counter ready to be delivered to our table) since we were waiting for 40 minutes already, but all he could do was apologize. We then had to leave and find somewhere else to eat for lunch. A good manager would have let people that have been sitting waiting on their lunch to comp the food and just let new arrivers know that the credit card machine is down. He lost the money regardless since our food was already cooked and on the counter which will more than likely go straight into the trash. We were frequent customers of ihop so this manager not only didn't save any money by letting us leave without eating, but he lost us as a regular customer. We will switch to Waffle House for breakfast and find one of the many other local restaurants for lunch going forward. read more

Came by for some relaxing pork chops and eggs after work. Had to send back eggs and hash browns, they were burnt and instead of sunny side up, they were cooked through. When I returned my hash browns, I asked if they could put cheese on them this time. It must be this guy's first time on the grill, because he literally laid a slice of cheese on top, and let it soak into the hash browns. I'm glad I didn't ask for mushrooms, they probably would've dumped them in the middle of the hash browns! read more

I was there during a rainstorm in the lights went out through four times which is no big deal. Understandable here in Texas. However, the food, terrible. I asked for my potatoes to be well done instead, they were just crunchy burnt bits of potato. And when I say, Bert, I mean no potato left literally just burned hashbrow. read more

Eggs are eggs and sausage is sausage...good but typical. Hash browns are typical too but much better this time when we added the sausage gravy! The waffle is good and a sugar rush after the butter and syrup. We have always liked the atmosphere here= the squashed in little diner type feel with booths and even a juke box all where you can sit and watch them cook. Price here is always good. No Diet Dr Pepper, only Diet Coke. Service is friendly and typical. We always return here...maybe once a year. It is a good place. read more

The cook was throwing food all over the counter and then plating it. She has a terrible attitude. I offered to pay for my coffee and leave. Waitress apologized and told me not to worry about it. I've always loved the Waffle House but they need to get rid of that disrespectful employee. She is ruining their brand. It's supposed to be a friendly face and home cooked food. Well...after much thought and after calling to speak with manager I have decided to write my first negative review. . As a person that travels a lot and tend to eat out a lot I always try to give a fair and honest review when I'm able to stop and post on Yelp.. Yesterday while eating at this location that was quite busy I may add.. I experienced one of the workers killing two roaches directly right next to my plate! She didn't realize that the roaches were there until she asked me did I need anything else after setting my food down and I politely pointed to the two roaches on the counter less than an inch from my plate she just sat down.. She politely discarded the two bugs and walked away.. No sorry, can I get you another plate, can we take care of your meal for the day..absolutely nothing what so ever.. I pushed the plate aside after a couple minutes of thought ..she walked by and handed me my bill for $10.17.. I paid cash and tipped her 3.00 dollars.. called today and manager WHO WAS ON DUTY AT THE SAME TIME YESTERDAY!! Simply said sorry and we will get on that problem ASAP. . Well. There you have it! So eat at your own risk at this location !!! I'll never return back!! I'll give IHOP a try next Sunday!!!! read more

1300 Waffle Houses in 25 states, and just about every one o'um a red state (a friend looked it up and 22 of the 25 states with Waffle Houses went Republican in the last Presidential election). The food is so-so (the waffles are at least fresh but otherwise akin to oversized Eggos), and the coffee is just awful (hint - fresh grinding low-grade robusto beans will still give you terrible coffee) but the servers were nice and it is GREAT for people-watching. First Sunday morning in Marshall, sat among a combination of Church-going folk and a motorcycle clan with some of the biggest, fanciest motorcycles I've ever seen. Why buy a house when you can live on the open road, I guess. I returned again during my trip for more of the people-watching, which was probably the most entertaining thing I encountered while I spent that year during my three weeks in Marshall. read more

Not a great place to eat by any means, but probably the best breakfast in Marshall. Plus it's open 24 hours a day. Best bet is something simple that is hard to screw up -- eggs, bacon or sausage, toast, hash browns, etc. The hash browns with onions (covered and smothered in their parlance) are quite good. read more

Terrible customer service. The waitress took our order after waiting 20mins I turned to look to see if food was almost done. No food is cooking at all!!! So I see a worker with back turned to me so I say excuse me to ask about our order. The lady (which is cook named Quiesha) never turns around but yells to other worker "someone down here wants someone" the other worker comes down and says oh sorry your order was never turned in. So the worker turns to cook named Quiesha and tries to give our order. Quiesha rolls her eyes and put hand up and says your gonna have to wait. Needless to say we got immediately and left. This is ABSOLUTELY the worst restauat in which I have EVER ate. The waitress "Stormy" acted as if we were imposing upon her nightly duties...which was smoking, drinking coffee, and talking to 2 men she seemed to know well. She dried the table after we asked. She slammed the silverware down on the table and rudely asked, "What do y'all want to drink?...Now or later?..." We said before the meal. After asking her several times she, finally, brought our drinks..after she had poured her another cup of coffee and gone outside for a smoke/visit. I had to wave her over to the table to refill my coffee. She did not place our order with the cook for 20 minutes after we sat down and ordered. She huffed and said she had too many problems to be having to take care of the problems there at Waffle House. She told us that we should have requested the other waitress if we wanted good service. The cook "Paul" took 15 minutes to cook 2 omelet breakfasts. He took raw bacon out of the refrigerator put it on the grill, then (without washing his hands) took cheese and put it on the omelets. He cross contaminated food over and over..with us watching. He did not wash his hands, even once, while cooking. While food was cooking he left the grill and went to the back and got a box of hashbrowns. He still did not wash his hands when returning. Our meal took 1 hour from sit down until we were served. There were 6 people in the restaurant when we arrived. Our omelets were runny in the middle and the hashbrowns were not cooked. I ate 3 bites..my friend ate several bites..but....HORRIBLE... Then we were charged...$23.15 for the meal...JUST UNBELIEVABLE... NEVER eat at the Mashall, TX Waffle House!!! read more
