Very busy this morning, constant stream of happy customers of all ages. Very friendly folks working the counter and booths. We ordered eggs and they were cooked perfectly! The toast was perfect, the hashbrownds were very crispy on the outside which is my favorite, and coincidentally, howI ale for them ; ) but they were underdone on the inside so they did not make it into my fork. The thick sliced crisp baboons, well... need I say more, ok I will... perfection, smoky, bacony (not a word), slightly greasy was an exceptional topper to every single bite of my Waffle House waffle, drenched in syrup...YUM! Ooh, and the coffee was okay... not the best but certainly drinkable and better than no coffee at all. Our server was just the right amount of friendly and chatty.

My 1st Waffle House(Charlotte NC) experience occurred at age 39, and I was hungover AF...Waffle House seemed magical. My 2nd Waffle House(Ridgeland SC) experience occurred at age 40, and I was sober AF...Waffle House lost some magic. (Waffle house doesn't exist in California) Unlike the first super friendly experience I had, the staff here seemed depressed and melancholy. Boyfriend dumped you? Did a 16yo daughter get pregnant? Husband gambled the rent money away? Who knows...though throughout my entire dining experience, I did notice the grumpy manager giving a continuous watchful death glare to every hardworking employee. Between dark stares, she would bark orders at her employees as if they were her children. Oh well...I don't think there are many other job opportunities in little Ridgeland SC. Otherwise, my breakfast was simple but rock solid. Tasteless but satisfying coffee? Check! Greasy breakfast sandwich? Check! Hot crispy hash browns with American cheese? Check! Thin hot Waffle House style pecan waffle? Check! This all set me back $14, not too shabby...though everything tastes better if you're drunk, or hungover.

I'm a huge fan of the Waffle House chain of restaurants, but this location gives all other locations a bad rep. This location is located off of an I-95 exit, just as you're about to enter Georgia, so it's a perfect spot for hungry road warriors, however, the location is the best part about it. Customer service was low, bad, horrible. We entered the building, normally we would be greeted, we were not. They weren't even that busy. There were about 3 empty booths when we entered, but they were dirty, waiting for someone to come and clear them so that customers could be seated. The thing that really bothered me was that there were AT least 10 people behind the counter, half of them looked lost, as if they were waiting for further instructions. It seems that the youngest person on duty at the time was the only person capable of clearing the tables and taking food orders. This young lady ended up being our server and she was awesome. This particular experience won't stop me from enjoying Waffle House, but the next time that I'm traveling on I-95, I'll make sure to bypass Ridgeland.

I'm torn between a two or three star review. But I'll give you what they nailed on first. My food time was quick. Despite just having one main cook, they got the food out. Waffle House is... Affordable but I wouldn't say cheap. Cleanliness is A okay and my food was delicious. I don't know if it was because I was really hungry or what. Unfortunately a few not so great stuff happened. First of all, the waitress never asked me how I liked my steak cooked. Fortunately for them, I like my steak borderline medium well and medium rare. Don't get me wrong it was delicious! But there are parts specifically more close to the bone where it was so rare it was bright red. I told her instead of hash browns I wanted a waffle. But I still got hash browns. Honestly I was just so tired and hungry I didn't even want to complain and argue. I just ate it all and informed the waitress. Staff were just doing their job. Minimal conversation. This is just one of those places you go for the quick food even though you know the service is not great but you go ANYWAY. In the name of food. I recommend the Tbone steak

Coming from the northeast where you can't even smoke on an outdoor patio anymore, the indoor smoking was kind of a drag (but only cause I quit smoking and thought it was the best thing ever). Oh and the food? Well, you know. The strawberry waffles were good but the eggs were undercooked. A cockroach greeted us as we entered the building but we were too hungry to care.

Sunday fried chicken in a converted gas station five miles outside Savannah, with oysters that I'm…read morestill thinking about three days later. That's the short version. Here's the longer one. Erica Davis Lowcountry sits on Victory Drive in Thunderbolt -- a town so small it has exactly one square mile of land and a name borrowed from a lightning strike that supposedly split open a freshwater spring on the Wilmington River bluff. The restaurant itself has a similar origin story: a long-shuttered seafood spot called Teeple's, left empty for years, brought back to life by Erica and Dwight Davis with real care. The gaslight sconces out front stayed. So did the bones of the building. The garage doors open when the weather cooperates. We came in late on a Friday, catching the final stretch of their brunch service. Hannah (I believe) was our server -- in training, which you wouldn't have guessed. She steered us well and managed the table (and the room) with a confidence that didn't feel performed. We started with the Barbecue Shrimp and the Oysters Rockefeller. The barbecue shrimp -- Georgia shrimp in a spiced, rich sauce served with toasts -- was good but the one I'd skip on a return visit. The Oysters Rockefeller are the opposite story: roasted, finished with creamed collards and parmesan, and genuinely one of the better bites I've had in recent memory. Order them. My husband had the Wassaw Redfish -- pan-seared over stone-ground grits with garlic beurre blanc and heirloom tomato. Clean, confident cooking. I had the Sunday fried chicken, which delivered exactly what that dish promises when it's done right. Sides of fresh green beans, South Georgia collards, and Erica's Famous Coleslaw held their own across the board. Dessert was the Key Lime Pie, served in a cup that does not prepare you for how good it is. Tart and creamy in the right proportion. We didn't leave any behind. The family's seafood history in Savannah goes back to 1946. You can feel that kind of depth in a kitchen -- not in any one dramatic bite, but in the steadiness of it all.

Visited Erica Davis Lowcountry while in Savannah after hearing plenty of positive reviews. The…read morerestaurant has a nice atmosphere, and the staff was friendly, although our food took a bit longer than expected to arrive. I ordered the Lowcountry Boil, which comes with shrimp, corn, potatoes, and sausage. The sausage and potatoes were good, and the seasoning was decent, but I was underwhelmed overall, especially considering the price. The shrimp didn't seem particularly fresh and had some white spots and discoloration that gave me the impression they may have been frozen for quite a while. As a result, the dish didn't quite live up to the hype for me. My wife ordered the Wassaw Redfish, which was recommended by our server, and that ended up being the standout dish of the meal. The redfish was cooked well, the garlic beurre blanc sauce was rich without being overwhelming, and the grits were creamy and flavorful. The shrimp and green beans complemented the dish nicely. Overall, the experience was mixed. The atmosphere was pleasant, and my wife's entrée was very good, but the Lowcountry Boil fell short of expectations. I'd consider coming back to try some of their other menu items, but based on this visit, I wouldn't order the boil again.

Next, the staff. They were exceptionally nice. Friendly, polite, courteous and helpful. Absolutely 5 stars. The food. We ordered the fried pickle appetizer, a shrimp dinner and the special, a 5oz fried grouper sandwich. The pickles came out fresh, hot, nicely cooked in a perfect coating. Came with ranch dressing. Would totally order them again. 5 stars as they were perfect. The shrimp dinner was also very good. Nice portion of again... perfectly coated, perfectly seasoned and perfectly cooked. The side of coleslaw was fine. No rating as it was neutral. The fries, the side we chose, were ok. The usual frozen crinkle cut fries. They were hot and cooked well. But frozen makes them a 3 star. I personally was not a fan of the hush puppies as I'm typically not anyway. My partner said they were delicious. Going by her enjoyment, 3.5 stars. The grouper sandwich special. Presentation was good. Good bun, fresh leaf lettuce and fresh cut tomato. The fish was again, nicely coated. Unfortunately, it came out dry. A little tough to chew. My partner tried it and said the same thing. Fortunately, the great server offered to have a new one made for me. I really didn't want it so she replaced it with their fried shrimp! No headache. No nasty looks or comments. Just a server that wanted to make sure we had a good dining experience. She did. The bill arrived and the food prices were good. Taxes are a bit high but no fault of the place. We were disappointed to see a service charge of 3% for CC fee. Typical nowadays but still never happy to see it. Overall this is a place that I would absolutely recommend and if ever passing through here again, we will stop and eat here. 4.75 stars.
