10/10 every time. Excellent and diverse menu with something for everyone. Don't sleep on the specials as they are always highlights. Service is prompt and honest. You can mix and match breakfast and lunch and throw a cocktail in there if you so choose. They've got cold plates to cool you down in summer and hot plates to warm you up when it gets a little chilly. I especially recommend the mozzarella sticks (hey when they're good they are great) and any of the egg dishes, partial to when they have a ham steak. We were seated quickly since it wasn't crowded at all. The service was okay. I had the Cobb salad and it was okay. My husband had the meatloaf and honestly it looked fake. The roll was hard. Our waitress brought out our check and we never saw her again. As we went to pay for our service, there was no one manning the cash register. We were warmly greeted by a very nice gentleman. I was even able to joke with him that I loved his "southern" accent...maybe South Bronx! We had a great laugh and were immediately seated. Our food was so delicious, our server was wonderful and the atmosphere was great! Highly recommend! read more

We visited on a cold Tuesday afternoon for an early dinner in January after reading the reviews. Not sure why but the place and parking lot was empty at 4:30. Hubby and I were going for comfort food. Our waitress was pleasant enough but could have checked on us because hubby wanted another cup of coffee, which didn't happen. I ordered the meatloaf dinner, which came with soup or salad - I chose the chicken noodle soup which was the star of the meal. Definitely tasted homemade. Hubby ordered the French Dip with French fries. Both main dishes were good but unfortunately not warm enough temps to make it better. After waiting an unreasonable amount of time for the check, hubby finally got up and went to the manager, who provided it. He acknowledged the problem with our waitress not being there and I mentioned the temperature problem with our meals. We've eaten here in the past, but after viewing the empty parking lot and diner, we should have known better and not gone in. We loved the diner ambiance and decor. The bathrooms need some work - they weren't dirty but the toilets were problematic. Our server was friendly and helpful. The food was visually attractive, but had a skimpy element that caused it to not be as enjoyable as it could have been. My Veggie Omelette had maybe half a slice of cheese centered along the fold which made it dry overall. Went for late lunch/early dinner. Hubs ordered a burger, fries and malt chocolate shake. He was very happy with what he got. I was less thrilled with my food. I was debating getting the Turkey dinner but ended up ordering a hot open face sandwich with roasted turkey. The description in the menu stated it was served with mashed potatoes and "fresh vegetables". I should have asked about what the veggie was, but just assumed it would be the "vegetable of the day". When I got my plate it was served with French fries! Had I known that, I would have ordered something different. The open face turkey sandwich was "meh". Not terrible, but not great either. There were no mashed potatoes, and the gravy was pretty bland. To their credit though the turkey was fine. I definitely would not order this dish again though because it was not as expected. I think the Thanksgiving dinner turkey would be better since it is supposed to be served with stuffing. Again, overall I was disappointed in my meal. Our first experience at the Hilton head diner was wonderful so we went back the next day. It was anything but a wonderful experience. I guess the difference is lunch versus dinner. I feel like the A-Team was there for lunch, and I don't know who showed up for dinner. We just took our drink order and then disappeared so someone else came over and asked if we had been helped, and took our dinner order and then she disappeared. We didn't see either one of them for the rest of the night until we were checking out. The guy who was at the register probably is not the normal guy because he was having difficulties entering things in, and we had all ordered a piece of pie to go. He acted like he didn't want to box it up. While we were sitting there, looking out the window waiting for somebody to come back I took a picture of the salt shaker, which has probably never been cleaned in its lifetime, picture included. it sucks because the food here is actually very decent, inside is always clean but the staff here are super rude and disrespectful. my daughter and her 2 friends (which were minors), came in to eat and they got sat with a server named Elaine. From the beginning the server was rolling her eyes, even when the girls ask a simple question like a drink refill, she just walked away then never got it. she also never took any of the trash off of the table even when she was asked. when we tried to speak to the manager but elaine was behind her the whole time and kept interrupting my daughter, she couldn't even explain to the manager what the issue was without elaine interrupting her. the manager didn't give her name but from the looks of it she is about 60 years old and she did nothing to help the situation. so, if you wanna come here and eat make sure to bring your own server and your own drinks. read more

I went to the Hilton Head Diner a lot throughout my childhood. I went today and the hostess sat us at a dirty, unclean table. we sat at our table for 30 minutes without a server. The server came to our table and didn't introduce herself and just said "order." Our food tasted old and half of our order came out wrong. When I asked for the cream cheese I ordered, the server gave an attitude and walked away. The ambiance of the restaurant was extremely uneasy, everyone was irritated and unhappy with their order. Our family comes to this diner every summer. It has a huge menu and you can't go wrong with good classic diner food. This time I got the half a chicken and it was nice and moist. Eggs Benedict is also good here but the home potatoes weren't crispy and tasted off. They also have a large selection of deserts. read more

I had the perfect bacon cheeseburger with hot onion rings ice cold pickle on a toasted bun more burger than bun! Hilton Head is a dense environment, and this place is located right off of Route 278 on the right as you head into town. Of course, golf courses surround the area. We stopped in for breakfast and our entrées were OK. They weren't the best we've ever had but they weren't the worst either. Given the prices today with inflation perhaps the costs are in line with the rest of the country. I recommendation is if I have a choice to eat breakfast in Hilton head look for another place. This was the worst dinning experience we had at hilton head. We waited 20 minutes for a table. Then waited 50 minutes for our breakfast. While we waited the server never checked on us. No coffee refil or nothing. When the food came it was luke warm, and the potatoes were half the amount expected. Poor service mediocre food. read more
