Waffle houses just hit every single time. It's one of my fav spots to go to whenever we go down south. Growing up, when road tripping down to Georgia to visit family we always looked forward to our stops here. Hash browns are always gonna slay here so I got a hash brown bowl with sausage, egg and cheese. As per usual they call out the order, upon receipt of you giving it and they sling your breakfast right in front of your eyes. And it always hits the spot. Waffle House has become an iconic presence on the culinary landscape here in the southeastern United States. It seems that their familiar logo beckons in all of its bright yellow neon glory road-weary travelers, partying college kids, parents with kids in tow, hungry workers seeking a casual and quick sit-down meal and just about everyone else from every walk of life. Since Waffle House opened its first location back on September 5, 1955 in Avondale Estates, Georgia, it quickly established itself by offering a consistent selection of food and by being open twenty-four hours a day. This particular location is just off Interstate 95 on State Road 16. The staff was friendly enough and added to the experience. For me, the biggest appeal of Waffle House has always been their hash browns, which you can get basic or topped with a variety of toppings such as chili, white sausage gravy, cheese, ham, onions and so many more items and you can combine these toppings in a multitude of ways. Add a couple of eggs and bacon and you have a great breakfast feast (even if it later at night). I myself can see the strangeness that I have never had a waffle in a business where waffle is in their very name, but I prefer a more savory breakfast than a sweet one. If you are in the southeast United States, odds are you have probably passed a Waffle House location. It seems that they are on almost every major highway exit ramp and strategically placed throughout most cities and towns in the southeast. If you see one, give them a try. read more

I am a huge Waffle House fan but as a Californian I can only experience this when visiting our family in Florida. My sister in law took my husband and I here to celebrate his birthday and I was so ready to have some delicious breakfast! Both my husband and I ordered the Two Egg Breakfast with Sausage, Bry got his covered (in cheese), mine was plain. It was the perfect start to our day, I chose a biscuit instead of toast and slathered in a strawberry jam, ugh so good. They also have a Waffle House Sauce, not sure what's in it, but I took a couple packets back to San Diego for my friend, I even got an opportunity to purchase their mug as a souvenir for the same friend! I appreciate the great breakfast and such sweet service, hope to come back soon! read more

We came in after a big rush on a Sunday afternoon but this has to be my best experience at a Waffle House. Jojo was super nice, upbeat, and attentive. She made us feel at home and went the extra mile for us :) Not to mention the food was absolutely delicious, it was super tasty and fresh. I'm usually pretty particular about my eggs but they were perfectly fluffy and soft. We will definitely be back to this location, this has to be the best breakfast food I've had in such a long time. read more

i went in today with my boyfriend and sat down at the counter. everyone was working so well together, and what i believe might have been the manager was very engaged with the customers including myself. i never got his name but what an awesome dude. the lady who took my order was very sweet, when she asked if i wanted gravy on my hash brown bowl i said no because im iffy about those kinds of things. the manager then about 5 minutes after my food came out, asked me if i liked gravy. i do but only at certain times (i know im weird lol) but he let me try a little bit of it on the house and i fell in LOVEEEE. ended up asking for a little bowl of it and to put it on my bill and he still gave it to me for free. an awesome guy and an awesome staff. love this crew at waffle house read more

We enjoy Waffle House and were happy when this location opened about 2 years ago, near our home. It started out well but we got surprised when about 3 weeks ago, they were cited on the Jacksonville TV "restaurant report" for health code violations! Yesterday we stopped for lunch and left. Place was filthy. Entire Counter was fully cluttered with dirty dishes, flatware; we had to wait for a counter space. Flatware placed when we sat was filthy. The cook line was not clean at all. Final straw when we noticed (apparently their dish machine was broken), dishes were being hand washed......improperly. I was in the foodservice biz for 25 years. Too many health code violations to count! We will not be going back, sadly. read more

I was walking in 2 nights ago around i believe 7-8pm Tuesday night and I really pondered posting this review but it has really been bugging me and this isn't the first time I have witnessed this behavior from the cook/supervisor lead? And if I don't say anything it's going to continue to be a issue for this company and I was always told a closed mouth doesn't get fed. And I love waffle house and the staff usually but non the less it was kind of busy parking lot was full but a couple tables were open but when I saw that lady running around spazing out yelling at the older lady who was serving and I could hear her and I haven't even walked threw the doors yet and those windows are pretty sound proof but you can hear her clear as day being disrespectful and demanding the sweet old lady to give her money because she was cleaning and you were sharking all the tables. I was minsblown and got up and left felt terrible for the sweet lady idk her name but bless her heart because she is a better person then me I would have lost it . But I didn't know cooks can demand a servers money and she claims to be a supervisor, why would you collect tips in the first place. Something's not right but maybe pay attention to the cameras for a few weeks and watch what goes on but I'ma start coming only on weekend mornings and if she's there I'll suck it up and just settle for IHOP, yeah that bad. But to the sever You are a tough Lady and I respect and applaud you for your patience and calmness God loves you keep being a beacon of light. read more

I was so happy to bring my girl in for some waffles tonight only to be disappointed. The service from the young lady was awesome ! Super energetic and enthused !! The food however was lack luster. Would give zero stars if I could, I waited patiently for 20 minutes for someone to take my order since they were "take out only". They ended up taking the person who was sitting beside me's order instead of mine who sat down way after me. I ended up just leaving upset and hungry. I understand people are short staffed but that was ridiculous. Don't go in there after like 2 am til 6am they won't seat you and you'll be waiting forever for your food (if they even take your order). 0/10 would NOT recommend. read more

Pulled up around midnight on a Saturday bc I like it as a late meal if I'm hungry since I live only 2 minutes away from this location and ppl were leaving the building (most likely were done/paid for their meal.) This Waffle House is the worse Waffle House in St. Augustine FL. The service absolutely sucks here. I called trying to place a pick up order and received no answer which always happens when you call this location. Upon arrival there were no guests in the lobby and both cooks was outside smoking marijuana. WhenI got out of my car one of the cooks walked in and walked straight to the grill without washing his hands or anything . I then sked the waitress is there a policy for not answering the phone she told me "we don't answer anything we don't want to". Then rudely as ever rolled her eyes at me and asked if that was all or do I want to place a order. I placed my order and of course it was made wrong by the high cook who had just came off a smoke break. When receiving my food the the young black woman with brown dreads "the waitress" then scream at me have a great night rolled her eyes and walked away. It was a busy Sunday morning but they had us seated quickly and efficiently, our food was out before my sugar hit the coffee, and every refill was out before we knew we needed it. This Waffle House is by far, the worst. First off. It took forever to get our food. The cook was moving in slow motion, and Kendall our server wasn't much better. We watched other people get their food fast, but ours was so slow, we stood up to leave, commenting about our disgust with the lousy service, and that's when the staff got moving. To make matters worse, Kendall seemed to ignore us as she gabbed with other customers. When we were trying to pay, Kendall did everything she could to delay approaching the register. When she finally did, she took 5 minutes to add up our bill. That should have been done long before we asked for our check. We usually go to the one on 210 and I95. We were thrilled to have one open closer, but after this evening's debacle, we will continue to go the 210/I95 one. At least there, we will get better service. read more
