Never ever considered stopping for food here because getting through the city on 74 is tough enough as time seems to stand still here because no one, and I mean no one is moving quickly here. As the current situation is Shelby is now the half way point from my our home to where my daughter and grandson moved 1 1/2 hours away. Tuesday night we made the trek to pick up the grand for a sleep over, meeting half way at The Creekside Clock for dinner. In the entry way there is a sign stating that food is made to order so please be patient. OK. We got plenty of patience. Walk up to the counter and place your order, HUH??? Can I take a look at a menu? Sure, put on your glasses and read from the menu board. Sorry! I wasn't prepared for that. Menu looks great. There is a lot of variety and daily specials. We placed 3 separate orders, probably the first mistake as we were all sitting together, just not paying together. I am not a fan of paying before you get your food. Tip? What am I tipping? We sit with our little numbers on sticks at our table and a waitress comes to review our tickets and bring our drinks. So far so good. Ok now we wait. I can see the kitchen window and there are 6 heads in view and they appear to be super busy prepping and getting out the food. Apparently that wasn't the case. First order arrives, baked potato and chicken sandwich looks yum! A side salad was also delivered. A good bit later my meatloaf and fiancé's combination seafood plate and the grands shrimp. All looks good, alas, there is nothing on my plate that is even warm. I Asked if they had a microwave they could reheat my plate, it was that cold. Found out also that the chick sandwich and potato that was delivered first was not warm either. Still waiting on a steak and steak tips at this point everyone else was pretty much done with their food. The steak was good, again the potato cold. I am really shocked by all of the good Google reviews for this place. Although the menu looks nice. For them to boast that food is made to order, and not even serve the food warm along with the horrible execution, this was a one and done for us!

Had to ask to have the flat beer removed from my check. The steaks were overcooked. Ordered medium rare and received well done. It took an hour to get our food. We returned one steak because it was so overcooked and dry it was uneatable. I've attached a picture of the second steak they brought to the table, and it's absolutely rare. Probably done in spite or that's just how bad their kitchen staff is. One thing for sure, we will not return. Perhaps someone saw my last review because they've rescinded the ridiculous rule of no parties larger than 6 since my first visit.

We decided to wait it out, but we ended up waiting longer than 40mins. I know that the employees can't control when customers get done with their food, but for a good 15 minutes about 5 tables sat vacant while dirty, as they could have cleaned those tables and got the waiting parties seated. Me and my grandmother both love the lemon ricotta pancakes. No matter what day or time it is, they always hit the spot. You can tell that they are made from scratch, as they are not rubbery. The thought of ricotta in a pancake can turn some people away, but all it really does is adds delicacy (makes the pancake tender (if that makes sense)). They usually have soft scrambled eggs, but today they were a bit more of a hard scramble and had trouble cutting a bite with a fork. The bacon this time was so hard that it wouldn't really bend like normal bacon would. I would have rather waited a couple more minutes for some better bacon. They do have a drink called the "Pineapple Express" that is always good. I can't really describe the flavor, but I recommend you try it. You'll have to taste for yourself! As a summary, this First Watch is usually great, but this time it was a miss. I wish that they would be more consistent with the quality of the food AND the service, as some servers act like they don't want to be there while others are great.

I waited a few minutes, but by 1:00 PM, there was still no update, so I left and returned at 1:30 PM. At that point, my order was still not ready. By then, I was understandably frustrated. I had already waited over an hour for an order placed in advance, was hungry, and had received little to no communication beyond "it should be next." When I returned, the same host asked for the name on the order and disappeared into the kitchen for about 10 minutes. I then asked another staff member to speak with a manager. Just before the manager came out, the host returned with two pickup orders--neither had my name on them. When the manager arrived and asked what I ordered, she pointed to a bag the host had set out, which turned out to be my order--but it was labeled under a completely different name. This only added to my frustration, especially after waiting over an hour and a half. I asked about a refund due to the excessive delay and lack of communication, but I was told I would need to contact DoorDash. I took the food home (about a 10-minute drive), only to find that the entire order was cold. My entrée was incorrect--I requested no mushrooms but received an excessive amount--and the donut holes were burnt to the point of being inedible. At that point, more than half of the order had to be thrown away, and the rest wasn't enjoyable. I essentially paid for food I couldn't eat after waiting nearly two hours. I understand that restaurants can get busy and that staffing issues happen, but the lack of communication, the excessive wait time, the order mix-up, and the poor food quality made this an extremely frustrating experience. Time and money were both wasted, and I am beyond disappointed in both the service and the food.
