It's waffle house. Some good days, some bad. Some days you wait for a table, some days you don't. Some days your silverware sticks to the table because the syrup wasn't wiped off, some days the table is stick free. On all days, the menus will always be questionable as to when they were last wiped down. The food is always hot and cooked to your liking and the staff are decently friendly here. Absolutely terrible experience at this Waffle House. I came in with 2 friends, so there were 3 of us total. We sat down and waited 30 minutes without anyone coming over to take our order or even acknowledge us. What made it worse was that there were only about 3 other tables occupied, so it wasn't like the restaurant was packed or overwhelmed. We sat there watching employees move around while completely ignoring our table. Then another customer walked in after us, and they were immediately acknowledged and served while we were still sitting there waiting. At that point, it honestly felt like we were being intentionally ignored. We understand that restaurants can get busy and that things happen, but waiting 30 minutes just to have someone take our order when the restaurant was mostly empty is completely unacceptable. The lack of communication and basic customer service was the biggest issue. We eventually decided it wasn't worth continuing to wait and left. Four customers sitting at a table for 30 minutes without even being acknowledged should never happen, especially when other customers who arrived later are being helped right away. Very disappointing experience. We came in expecting a simple meal and basic service and couldn't even get that. I wouldn't recommend this location unless you're prepared to be ignored. So thankful they were open on Christmas night. We were traveling and stopped for dinner and were pleasantly surprised by a staff member greeting us at the door. She welcomed us and gave us some seating options. Nine total employees were working together like a well oiled machine. We are big believers in Waffle House; adore their food and enjoy the service from each and everyone we visit. So of course we were excited to see this one tucked in a little corner right off the exit. They are also near a motel and another shop we couldn't figure out what it was. They also had a pretty good size parking lot- and if you are lucky you might get the spot right under the big sign. Literally the best spot around. Walking into the restaurant we decided to go right and sit near the bathrooms. Less people on this side- until the moment we sat down more folks came in. But that's okay, we were welcomed by an amazing server by the name of Red. Had to check her tag at least four times to make sure that's what I saw. She was super quick and ready to take our order. She also listened to my over complicated order and my husband's easy order. It barely took a few moments and she was bringing our meal out to us. Which was super fresh and hot, we immediately dived right in. Our food was made the way we requested, and it was delicious. Getting our check we realized it was roughly the same price in our hometown. So that was a plus, not only was it so good it was affordable for what we ate. I didn't think a small town like this would have so many friendly people, but everyone smiled and waved at us. It was a nice feeling not being flipped off for something random. I can sum this up in one word. LAZINESS!! more than once have we had bad experiences here but they are only a few miles from where we live. Yes our negative experiences are self inflicted because we kept returning but tonight was the straw that broke the camels back! we walked in to a diner with one occupied table until we sit and stuck to our booth as four waitresses sat playing with their phones and the cook was outside smoking. The room temperature was as cold as it was outside! I asked the waitress about the heat and she replied they keep it at a temperature that makes the employees comfortable! REALLY!! Cant complain about the food as it was delivered timely and correct. our waitress sat down at the end bar with the other waitresses popped out the phone and guess what...didn't see her again until the bill hit the table!! never got a refill for drinks so we choked down the only good thing about this visit... the food. so we watched four waitresses sit and do nothing the entire time and remember... we literally stuck to the booth when we arrived! and as we all know by now Waffle House prices are at a premium nowadays! Certainly not a pleasant experience. We have said before we weren't going to return but we kinda hoped it was just one of those days everyone has when you aren't on your game but I think time has proven that theory incorrect. Had a breakfast coupon from our stay at the Econo Lodge. Egg, sausage, grits and toast. Breakfast was served quickly and hot. Friendly waitress kept the coffee cups filled. Hand dryer in bathroom didn't work and no paper towels available. The place could use a top to bottom scrubbing but the table surfaces and eating area was clean. The area isn't the hottest (El Cheapo Gas signs, abandoned buildings, hotel signs for $34 a night), and it didn't look too nice but we were hungry for breakfast and on our way back to Jersey. Well... that was damn good breakfast. I got cheesy eggs (they were quite cheesy), bacon (wonderfully cooked), toast and hash browns with onions (which I recommend). The customer service was fast, extremely polite and friendly. So, I can't find too many complaints at all. And while I would still probably opt for an iHop for my avocado salsa eggs, this is a good stop for breakfast at this location. This is the second time we've eaten here. We noticed how clean everything was kept. This past Sunday 9.20.2015 we were the only people eating and were sitting far away from the employees. They cleaned all the air conditioning vents and removed any dust. The drop ceiling tiles were lift up and the tracks wiped clean. Great attitudes and very proud of how clean their workplace was. We left Maryland on Tuesday and then traveled west to Roanoke VA. We did this because we couldn't travel south (I-95) to Tampa because of Storm Grayson. From Roanoke we decided to head south hoping the storm had passed and we stopped in Walterboro just exhausted from the drive. We tried 5 hotels before we found one with rooms. When we asked the hotel where we could eat we were told everything (and I mean everything was shut down except for the Waffle House we could see from the hotel lobby. We were freezing, there was snow everywhere so we hopped in the car and drove the 250' to eat the Waffle House. When we went in we were greeted warmly and they told us they had a very limited menu. That menu consisted of a hamburger or cheeseburger on American bread with hash browns and hot coffee and a soda (for my son). They also had chicken and that was it. So, we ordered the cheeseburgers and hash browns. It was hot, it was quick and it was good. The cook and the servers were polite and nice. I felt for them and admired them for weathering the elements to provide hot food and coffee to those that kept trickling in looking for food or something warm to drink. They went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and made sure we had warm coffee to go before we headed back to our room.
